Or are Mario games, like many have been led to believe, a random assortment of games with no attention paid to continuity. After seeing Matpats latest announcement, coming back to this vid is very emotional, this was one of the first videos of The game theorists that I watched from when it was within the first year of its upload, and ever since then I’ve been an avid fan of this channel. Will always love this channel.

But... this proves that Mario isn't as mental as we all thought. He obviously hates Luigi because of his stealing Peach from Mario. HE wasn't the one to preform the animal abuse on DK, but rather his father. And his idolization of Pauline isn't because he's a promiscuous psychopath, but because Pauline is his mother.

I just realized something I never really paid attention to before now. MattPat, do you remember your Mario us evil theory? There is a crucial piece of the puzzle that you're missing and it's so bad...you can call it the smoking gun.
Forget about Mario stepping on Luigi's foot after a tennis tournament...I want you to turn on any copy of Super Mario Brothers 3 and watch the little skits before the demo starts. You will see Mario get his racoon tail and send a turtle shell hurtling at Luigi. Remember, these things are deadly when they make contact. He quite literally tries to maime Luigi at the start of the game. There is nothing brotherly about that at all...

Wait a minute... This theory totally busts the Mario is mental theory.
For a first, the crazy guy torturing animals is jump man, not Mario. The other thing is how he acts toward luigi. If you had a brother you trusted and then he "stole" your love, you would probably not act so nice to him when he finally achieves something. Also with peach and Mario no longer being together, and Pauline being out of the picture as Marios mother, it would mean that Mario is in fact dating daisy. Thus Mario only having one lover. It do good to our hearts to revisit these old videos just to hear MatPat and Drake together.
Helping this video: Jumpman and Mario can still be different characters with Super Mario Odyssey. Pauline is remembering her brother saving her in Mario vs Donkey Kong, not Donkey Kong. Luigi’s Mansion 3 probably takes place not long after Luigi’s Mansion 2. Same goes for 3D world with Bowser’s Fury. Sparks of Hope, while not out, likely takes place after Galaxy 2. If there is any mistake tell me and I will edit the comment.

My theory is that Jumpman and the Pauline from the original DK games actually had _3_ children: Mario, Luigi, and Pauline the 2nd. That would explain how Pauline can be both Jumpman's girlfriend in the OG games and Mario's damsel in distress in the modern games. To add even more to this, in the OG DK games, Pauline is wearing a pink dress and has orange hair, meanwhile Pauline in the modern games wears red clothing and has brown hair, adding to the idea that they're not the same person.

One of the best looks at the Mario Timeline I've seen, my only questions are: what about the Mario VS. Donkey Kong series? Primarily Tipping Stars. Also in Super Mario 3D Land we see that the Super Leaves didn't exist in the Mario world until you knocked them out of the tree in that game, meaning Mario 3D Land has to exist before Super Mario Bros 3 right?

JohnnyFireFlame Well, it just means he's either a little less psycho, or since ASPD can be hereditary under certain circumstances, that both are crazy.
JohnnyFireFlame It's interesting...a lot of the animal abuse stuff actually would apply to Jumpman, especially in relation to his pet gorilla (eventually Cranky). And it also renders him hopping between multiple women (Daisy, Peach, Pauline) as no longer relevant. That said, SUPER Mario does still abandon Yoshi, neglect his brother, destroys all the bricks, and crushes things with him own body weight...SO...like father like son :)

NSMB2 has been confirmed to have occurred before Super Mario Odyssey as Bowser is terrified of the Gold Mario costume, referencing Gold Mario's ability to one-shot Bowser.

Mario spent his life being the hero, leaving Luigi in the shadows. However, Mario had no time for romance, but Luigi did. Luigi started a relationship with Daisy. It started out genuine, but he secretly resented his brother for his fame. Peach really cared about Mario, but again, Mario was too busy being everyone's superman to just be her man. Luigi was there and charismatic, so eventually, a late night turned into more. Heartbroken, Daisy left Luigi and went to another country where she got into trouble. Mario felt the call of the restless hero and went to save her. At the end, Daisy is afraid of being alone and Mario is tired of all the violence he's committed in his years since leaving the plunger behind. The two fell to pieces together, but at first, neither was complete enough to really give each other the love they deserved. Daisy helped Mario with his PTSD and eventually, their bond grew stronger. Luigi and Peach's relationship was founded on pettiness, but no one else needed to know that, so they kept up the charade of a happy couple and went swinging on the weekends.
This got me teary eyed.
I mean, there is also the theory of the Starbomb song "Luigi's Ballad", that of Mario being an overly aggressive, in-your-face guy when coming on to Peach, while Luigi is a lot more noticably sensitive. Now, even though we don't hear from Daisy, we could simply believe the idea that Peach (who chooses Toad at the end), just wants something different for a change, but eventually gives in to her own thoughts of Luigi being a sensitive shoulder to cry on. In this timeline, we could also tack on the idea that Mario catches Daisy on the rebound, making these relationships all make sense.

1st he never abused animals, that was his father obviously
2nd his abuse of Luigi was clearly from the fact that Luigi got his girl, so Mario was trying to "get revenge"
3rd he clearly wasn't promiscuous, if Daisy became his girlfriend AFTER Luigi stole Peach from him, and Pauline (if thats how you spell her name) is their mother
Pretty much the only evidence you now have for that theory is the fact that Toads were turned into bricks, and as far as we know there is no spell to turn them back, so it could just simply be Mario putting them out of their misery, since he can't help them
McGliga Also him getting so angry at his brother to the point that he leaves the Mushroom Kingdom, a place which he called home for so long, proves that he, in fact, is able to feel love, so again, if he can love, he can't have APD

Justin Slasher The key to knowing for sure is to look at other psychopaths and see if they are what they are, even though they are not sexually promiscuous. Let's take Hannibal Lecter. And looking into his canon, we see that this isn't the case. While it is one of the symptoms, it isn't the biggest one, and is really more a side effect than anything else. The key symptom is actually the inability to process and understand emotions. Therefore, while it would take away a bit of the evidence, it doesn't change the verdict.

No. There's very little canon stuff. Kart racing and tennis is only good for handedness and heights. Story is non-canon in the sense that's it's just a sports game with Mario characters. Like SSB. I'm not gonna start calling FPS characters psychos cause they mindlessly kill.... So why do the same for Mario when he's facing an army of monsters? If anything I'd question the ineptitude of Bowsers army and why they are so weak that one man can topple the entire kingdom. Then again... Bullet bills are useless... You could argue for THREE Mario's, since "Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam" would imply that "Mario" and "Paper Mario" are two different characters. By that logic, pretty much every character that appears in the Paper Mario franchise would then also have a non-paper doppelganger.
I'd also add that somewhere you can fit in the three Yoshi games that don't feature Baby Mario - Yoshi's Story, Yoshi's Woolly World and Yoshi's Crafted World. These games must take place either just before the arrival of baby Mario, or just after the events of the Yoshi's Island series (after Baby Mario's departure), since the main antagonist is still Baby Bowser.
