I've done PLENTY of dark theories on the Mario franchise, from Super Mario being a sociopath to Princess Peach being the dead mother of Rosalina and beyond. But today, I've uncovered the most dangerous game in the Mario canon -- Mario Kart! Mario Kart 8! Well, specifically Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. I did the math, and the devastation those fun little Mario Karts deliver is something to truly fear. So hop in and buckle your seatbelts, because this is going to be one crazy Mario Kart adventure!

My bad: 5'11'' actually equals 180 cm...but NO FEAR! I did all the speed calculations in Standard first, then converted each result back to metric, so although I misspoke in that one moment about the height conversion, the rest of the stats should all be right!

@@Atlessa in cart racing you have suits and helmets, like in bike racing. a seatbelt in a open vehicle would increase risk quite a bit, imagine being strapped to the top of a rolling vehicle instead of sliding away from it

In Mario kart 8 deluxe, a fully charged mini turbo on a high mini turbo vehicle like the biddybuggy(NTSC name)/buggybud(pal name) with roller wheels (which mat mistook for the cheep charger, a small class kart for baby characters and other lightweights from Mario kart Wii) is faster than the fastest speed based vehicle in Mario kart 8 deluxe when coming out of a tight corner. Because of it, the biddybuggy is too slow on long straightaways, but crazy fast when coming out of a sharp corners. That's why almost every world record I've seen in Mario kart 8 deluxe uses the biddybuggy with rollers or wiggler with rollers, and a heavyweight character like waluigi. If it was the same way in Mario kart Wii, not altering any vehicle stats, then dry bones on the bullet bike would be meta, because they happen to have the best mini turbo stat in game, as well as a high speed stat and inside drift, making them ideal for default Mario kart Wii. in Mario kart 8 deluxe, this is not true, as all speed based combos in Mario kart 8 deluxe have terrible mini turbo stats and inside drift had been replaced with the less reliable hybrid drift.

So, let's gather up all these theories.
• Mario is a communist, animal-abusing adulterer and psycopath, and presumably responsible for starting Mario Kart, a deadly kart-based sport. He would also win three bronze medals (long jump, high jump, and triple jump) at the olympic games.
• Luigi is a multi-millionaire, who apparently has a strong admiration for his abusive brother, but actually hates him a lot. He also secretly loves Peach, who he eventually runs away and has a daughter with. He would win two silver medals (long jump, triple jump) and one gold medal (high jump) at the olympic games.
• Peach has mental issues, and intentionally spread a fungal plague in order to create her subservient kingdom. She is also the mother of Rosalina, and is dead in at least one timeline. On top of this, she would win two gold medals (long jump, triple jump) and one silver medal (high jump) at the olympic games.
• Bowser is a mentally-scarred orphan who is trying to give the koopalings the family that he never had, while also trying to combat the fungal plague which overthrew the goombas.
• The toads are a race of hostile funguses who took over the home of the goombas and serve Peach, the one who let them spread.
• Rosalina was born to a princess cheating on her lover and the rich brother of that princess' lover.
• Wario is a 10-foot-tall farting behemoth.
• Yoshi was racially profiled at the olympic games.
• All of the above, plus some others, are participants in Mario Kart, the aforementioned deadly kart sport.
Which btw... is even more proof that Matpat is clearly fucked in the head when it comes to these theories. That said... Mario isn't a Communist. That was a literal gag episode.

Lots argue if people prefer the Math and Science episodes or the Writing and Lore episodes, but honestly, I like to have both. Some argue that the creators don't take some of that in depth lore into account, when I'm pretty sure the creators didn't take the math and science into account either. Otherwise we'd have a Rated M Mario Kart. No matter how you slice it, let's be real, the creators don't think about that too much (sometimes). We're all over analyzing, whether it's Math or Lore, and it's all just for fun. MatPat, keep up the variety. I'd get bored of your channel if it was just Lore or just Math. I need the best of both worlds.

I had an incident where I had a four kart pileup that gave me a nice pretty seatbelt shaped bruise on the day before the state swim competition.
In hindsight, I probably shouldn't have been racing go-karts the day before the state swim competition but no point crying over spilled milk.

Hey, although it may be illegal to advertise a car without a seat belt that isn't a car, technically it is a go cart with a car skin.
I'm pretty sure Go Karts require Seat Belts in most places you'd drive them anyway.
That doesn't mean they have advertising laws requiring seatbelts be shown. : P

The loophole is probably something to do with Mario Kart being a Japanese game and that they probably don't need to adhere to American advertising laws (unlikely seeing as how they are advertising to an AMERICAN AUDIENCE) but the loophole could also have to do with the game being a racing game, or just that it's a fictional video game in general. Even then I'd assume even cartoon characters need to wear seatbelts if they were in, say, a Jeep commercial.
also technically the commercial is gameplay footage and an ad more for the game than the car so it doesnt need to adhere to car commercial laws becuase its not a car commercial
I don't even think it's American laws. I saw a ton of "Australia" on that sponsor rules thing that he researched. Also I guarantee it's the same everywhere across North America and Europe anyways.
There might be a difference between product placement and "regular" advertising like commercials. Product placement by its nature is incidental and generally doesn't interfere in the media its appearing in. I'm pretty sure most movies with product-placed cars don't follow most of those rules.
Also, MatPat cited the Advertising Standards Bureau of Australia, which obviously covers nothing but Australia and may not even regulate video games.
