I’m 48 and starting to see fine lip lines around my mouth even though I have never smoked in my life, but haven’t exposed myself to the sun too much in my life and never had anything done to my face, so thanks for sharing what options there are ❤
PLEASE READ:
I had lip lift surgery from a supposed TOP board certified facial plastic surgeon in 2020 that was a disaster. He used dissolvable sutures -- which should never be used in the face due to potential allergic reactions -- which I had.
This caused severe scar tissue that, even after 18 months of treatment, has not resolved, I've since relocated to another state and will now need to pay another doctor for expensive revision surgery.
I had a negative outcome too, and there is no going back. It can't be undone. My surgeon was top notch too. My issue was surgeon was too aggressive, taking my philtrum from 2.3mm to 1.5mm, eventhough I asked to be no shorter than 1.8mm. I was 55 years old and the resulting "look" was completely inappropriate for a woman my age. There's a saying "mutton dressed as lamb" and that's what my lips suggest. And there is no going back. You can't undo it. I'm hoping that over the years it'll drop as I keep losing collagen and elastin with age.
If, dear readers, you are considering this, get 2 Q-tips and manually lift the part of your lip that is under your nose, no wider than your nose (corners and lips not under the nose don't lift in a bullhorn lip lift). If you look like you're snarling, or look like a bunny rabbit, DON'T have a lip lift.
To Darma,
With scar revision you can do C02, or they redo the lift. If the latter, you can end up with a philtrum that is aesthetically too short for your face proportions. I feel for you honey. I got an upsetting result too. Wishing you an outcome that is pleasing to you. It's an awful process to go through, feeling youve not been treated with enough diligence and having to deal with the psychological distress and future costs and inconvenience and uncertainty of the revision outcome. I'll be thinking of you Sister 💜
@@jenA9026 Thank you so much for your kind words. Hopefully your beautiful soul shows through on your face -- and no one even notices your lip lift. Take care 🙏🙏
I had a lip lift at 46. Love my results!!
No wonder you look so young.
I want a lip lift but my surgeon said I’m not a good candidate. Wth? 😢
@@ljcoleman100 Listen to them! I had a lip lift at age 55 years and I really regret it. Eventhough I saw 3 surgeons and all of them said I'd be a good candidate. I had a philtrum (distance between base of nose and top lip) that was 2.3mm and a thin, straight upper lip. After the lift my mouth is more "bratz doll" shape which is inappropriate for my age. My facial proportions are out of balance now, thus drawing attention away from my eyes (best feature) towards my mouth and lower third of my face (worst feature). Also the middle of the base of the nose has been pulled down from the tension of the lift, even though the surgical strategy used was supposed to avoid that. Bottom line, I no longer "look like me". I'm OK now, but I went through shock and depression that took 2 years to come to peace with.
And actually, the satisfaction rates for people doing lip lift are actually not that high. Don't take the risk because there is no going back.
Very valuableinformation! I love watching your videos. I have learned so much. I want to get treated by you. You look so young and beautiful. Sending love! 💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕
It was so helpful to have you break out treatment options by age range. Thank you!
Beautiful and Educational all in one!!! Love your channel!!!
This was one of you best videos yet! Thank you ❤ I loved the way you explained everything and clearly said what you have done and when as well! ❤
I always come back to your channel because you talk to us like derm residents! ❤ love your skincare line, it has really changed my aging skin😊 I look forward to learning more through your videos!
Loved, loved this content! So educational.
I love the technical!!!
Very detailed and informative video. Thanks, this was very helpful. ❤
I am learning so much from you. Thank you
Great video! Thank ;you for educating us and creating such an informative content.
I love your videos Doctor Kappel specially because you explain the procedures with technical terms we are given at the doctors office, and you take the time to explain it and are much easier to follow!! 🙏
Thank you for sharing what you've done on your beautiful face. I'm most definitely a candidate for a lip lift. I have also formed lines above my lips and in the corners that are bothersome and really age the face. Have a wonderful day!
Love this. My lips are naturally too thin
Super useful info!
Love the info🥰
I can’t thank you enough for helping me decide. Think it should be Ellacor. Basing this on age and not having done all the preventative tweaks when I was young. Saw your first video on it and was quite impressed.
Great video as always! Are there any treatments to remove freckles or fordyce spots on the lips?
Great information!! I feel like my life could be so different it I lived at least near Newport Beach 💕
I appreciate your content as it educates me to make wise decisions regarding my own planned procedures. I love that you use medical terminology in your content. I am fortunate to live close enough to be a patient of your practice.
Hi Dr. Kappel, thank you so much for your content!! I love learning more about the derm world. I was wondering what your opinion is of lip blushing. I’m in my 30s and noticing the edge of my lip colour is becoming a little jagged and considering maybe having lip blushing done, but I’m concerned that it could result in scarring. Thank you!
Dr Stef thank you for this video. By filling lines in the lip are you talking the vermillion border? I’ve had that done a few times and it has helped so much. It’s been almost 3 years and my v borders still look good (not just like they did after having it done but better than they were before having that done.
Do you have before and after pictures of your lip line work that were taken by you and not by a laser company? Thanks.
Ellacor... been doing some research locally. What are you suggesting your patients use after treatment to speed up healing and reduce the chance of red marks lingering on your face for weeks after the treatment? I have read some horror stories from people who have had the procedure done. Thanks for sharing all your knowledge!@@
I’m a man and am considering a lip lift. Thanks Stefani! I have a great smile, but my upper lip covers it!
Dr Stefani, thank you as usual such a great information🙏 i am putting my plan, i wish you would be in SF😜, but yep i see that little line , mostly on one side, from the lip down. It does bother me, so i need to fix it. But my lips are super youthful, no lines, wrinkles. Its due to my numerous sessions of permanent lip makeup, which i got in early 40’s . I did quite a few times, trying to get the reddish hue, i was getting pink😂. But that created sharp lines, and soft plump lips. I havent done for 4 years now, and lips still have color and plumped and no lines. But going forward, i will get some laser, treatments, since i want that glass skin, so why not include lips, or at least around the lips. Have a blessed day🙏❤️ .
When are you launching your lip mask?
What are some options for treating disaster chins? By disaster I mean wrinkles, dimples, and glycation?
Dr Ma'am, how much do exsosomes cost and how many rounds are needed?
Dr, using Fraxel so often doesn’t cause fat loss or at least over time using it so much ? Thank you!
She actually did a video on this subject. To quickly summarize, if a provider is properly trained, there should be no chance of fat loss.
So, with regards to laser, ellacore etc, you are referring to treatment of the area around the lips, but what about the mucosal lip themselves? I'm 38, I don't have lines ("smokers lines"), around the lips, but the red lip themselves are looking more lined. I have great shape and volume naturally, but they are more wrinkled (even with daily lipbalm and sunscreen). Is filler the only treatment for this delicate area? I'm concerned about getting into a trap of having to add more and more filler over time to fill out wrinkles/lines and keep lips looking smooth.
Can you do a video on smile lines
What about shea butter on the lips for night?
What kind of SPF for your lip do you wear?
Is red light therapy a growth factor and can it cause cancer?
What I wouldn’t give to look as young and beautiful as you! Do you do virtual consultations?
I’m in early 50’s and my upper lip feels deflated. I don’t have a ton of lines but just feel I’ve lost volume. An ad keeps coming up on social media for Angellift. Has anyone used that for upper lift volume loss or is Dr. Kappel familiar with this?
I tried that and frankly thought it was a waste of money.
@@janiceg7661 thank you for the input!
Would a laser help kids who got "railroad" track scar on their forehead from dissolvable stitches that the ER did not tell us to take out?
Can you say who did your lip lift?? It’s soo rare to see a lift look as good as yours, I never would have known if you hadn’t said it
Dr Stephanie I hope you see this comment, bc we need help. I had a bad accident and have scars on my lips, I went to get lip blushing to even out this scars, instead it has made them worse and has not faded at all. After four months of research, I learned that there are thousands of women like me who say they still have their lip blush years later. I’ve read a 100 comments saying it’s been 5 years, 8 years, and even 15 years and still have “semi-permanent lip blush. The solutions seem to be damaging like saline, even the pico Laser. But now I’m learning about magnetic. What do you think about lip blushing removal? And I mean on the tissue of the lips not on the outside of the lips. What is the safest way to remove. It looks horrible and could last over a decade. Thank you!
Let me know if you ever decide to do a free makeover contest for an elderly woman. Me I’m 61 I have been afraid to use lasers and all sorts of things but before my best friend, who was an aesthetician, quit her business, she did do micro blading Chemical peel on my face and tattoo make up around my lips. But I think I’m getting brave enough now that she has helped me through those processes to do a lot more maybe.
I know that I try to eat as healthy as possible and take amazing supplements, and I make myself do facials couple times a week on myself. But I’m starting to get addicted to all things, health and beauty skin care. I have certifications in nutrition and other holistic fields.
I thoroughly enjoy the technical and scientific information that you’re giving on this. It gives me more of a visual and helps me to understand the depth of what I might need to be doing. 🌺🙏🏼💃💃💃
Lip lift makes one look youthful
Good grief I had no idea that there was an 'elongation' between nose and lip with aging .. Cheez! LoL
Me either until I stopped watching tv and perused you tube, lol. I researched a lip lift for 2 years and finally did it at 46, my philtrum was natural long. I love my results!!! It's like having a facelift
I observed a difference in my former pictures too.
so there is no sense to use vit A derivatives for lips?
Dr. Stef, I've always loved your content. I would ask you to consider making your videos less technical for the non-medical viewer because it becomes very difficult to understand the terminology. Hugs. Cincy
I love the technical terminology helps me understand and learn what I didn’t learn in school. ❤❤❤
I can appreciate how someone else might be frustrated if science is not their cup of tea but personally I can't get enough of the scientific and medical details. Stephanie, I was going to ask you about those time cells that you mentioned in a recent video, if that's the correct term? You were saying how cells know whether it's day or night. Also, how do you feel about PDO threads to lift the corners of the mouth? I don't like how it looks in some after photos, giving the lips an elongated stretched sideways look. Perhaps those people were just not good candidates anatomically. I used to want threads for this but I'd prefer to try botox first. Thank you!
Sorry, Stafani* my phone autocorrected your name.
why don’t you just google what you don’t get, she’s always very clear. not her fault you can’t comprehend
Stefani* argh... so sorry.
When is your mask going to be available? 😅
Please keep your videos technical because everyone else on CZcams makes non-technical videos and they put me to sleep.
