    Let’s not forget laser and other skin treatments, retinol, fillers and botox, etc. Those have a major impact. I’ve seen someone look 15 years younger after only starting these in one year.
    It’s not only sleeping, eating, and hydration.

      I don't know how she enjoys life being to disciplined, regimented and obsessing about looking young for her age when there is so much more to life. Naturally I look 10 years younger and size 8/10 without starving myself.

      I do all of that minus laser. I call Botox and conservative use of filers maintenance. I started at 35 getting Botox and I have just fine lines under eye at 54. I work in a job where I'm surrounded by young people every day and I am just trying to stay looking late 30's to early 40's. I am not trying to look in my 20's because that is unrealistic. But, given I am a single mother and a professional, it stinks but there is an ageism double standard for women, that most men don't experience. Even appearing more youthful makes a difference in how you can be evaluated on the job. I feel more confident too. But, it's a choice and I don't expect others to do what I do. I am now examing effects of ageism and gender on perceptions of competence and job outcomes. Many women do the same, during their lunchtime to minimize some of the obvious signs of aging. My physician told me it's an open secret that this occurs. It's a personal choice and I don't judge others for avoiding such procedures and skin care.

    As a fitness instructor of over 40 years... remember....when it comes to being exhausted ...sleep will override working out. Sleep, as you know, is just as important as a fitness regimen regarding our battle with retaining our youthful appearance and skin health.

      Thank you and I agree! Sleep is the area I need to work on most. I have always functioned on very little sleep but I am trying to increase the number of hours of sleep that I get now that I'm older. In med school and residency I'd get an average of 4-5 hours a night between studying and working log hours in the hospital. Then when I had kids it became even less. I need to work on that for sure. Thank you for watching ;)

      Don't let that lie get you down. It's a load of garbage. And just wearing sunblock everyday under your makeup or without, rain or shine, all year long prevents a massive amount of sun related damage and photo aging. I'm 54 and have been wearing sunblock everyday since 24, I live in Florida, and my Dermatologist says I have very little sun damage. That makes a big difference. Also wear it on your neck, decolletage, and arms and hands is best. Unfortunately, I didn't wear it on my hands and arms and the sun damage is there.

      Ageism is ONLY "Ism" that we all experience if we live long enough. I am enjoying the special millennial folks who loved to make nasty and cruel ageist remarks towards me who are now perceived as "old" or "older" by upcoming Gen Z and Gen alpha folks. I'm a Gen Xer and I think ageism is vile and sickening. And of course, it mainly is targeted towards women disproportionately than men. I am speaking of a specific group of cruel and callous folks who are smug and arrogant. I never say anything I just observe their dismay that younger folks now dismiss these folks. Gee, wonder how it feels? 😅😅😅

On another note, you are the only Dr. that I've followed that mentions the possibility of developing hyperpigmentation from at home LED devices. Ok, I’m SO glad to finally see a very fair skinned woman who looks way younger than her age talk about it. Because let’s be honest, fair skin ages more rapidly and much more easily. Period. You have to really work hard to maintain it and baby it, much harder than those with darker or more olive complexions. So, your tips are legit!!

      fair skins stay long younger than dark...

    • @MisterAlexThomas
      @MisterAlexThomas Před 5 měsíci +6

      @@Senaliah I think she's saying that people with naturally occurring melanin in their skin typically age better. So, people of color. Not like tan Caucasians who spent their lives tanning. Melanin is a natural sunscreen that absorbs uv rays, among other reasons, people of color typically do age more gracefully. Caucasians come from northern regions where they were more clothed bc of cooler climates. Darker skinned people often lived in very sunny and hot regions near the equator and therefore have evolved to handle sunlight better. Now, if sun wasn't a factor and you put people of differing races in a dark room their whole lives - idk who would show signs of aging sooner.

Thank you for always sharing your knowledge, even if it goes against the conventional opinion. And thank you for saving me $$ on growth factors! I shall look into peptides. Great video, as usual. I agree i worked out , all my life, when i came in US, in my late 20’s , i became personal trauner, and used to work out 4-5 hours a day. So that provided me with tight body, even when in the last 14 years, i am not working out a lot, the body still is in great shape. I cant wait to get back to my favorite routines, to balket and gyrotonics . I wasnt able to work out a lot , because since my husband became suddenly paralyzed, and i became caregiver, its like having baby, you have to put him first, and with all my back injuries, i had to slow down, because if i get injury, or sore body, who will take care of him and all the housewhole… but we got back on our feet, and next year, it will be mine, getting some beauty procedures done, and getting back to my fitness, cause its the most amazing feeling you get, after good work out😜 . Have a blessed day and thank you so much for giving us all the truth about skincare, and procedures. 🙏❤️❤️❤️

I use sunscreen EVERY. SINGLE. DAY. it’s in my moisturizer. I reapply it during my day. I’ve never smoked. And I hit the genetic jackpot because my Mom is almost 90 and she looks amazing! Really, my Mom is gorgeous! Her skin is incredible! She’s always taken care of her skin. Always. She also never smoked or drank. 😊 Mom always set such a great example with her skin.

    I love your heart! I am not a doctor but I share your love for education and knowledge. I am the same with my practice. I share my education and knowledge b/c I truly LOVE everything about skin. I am a master aesthetician of over 30 years. I worked in Derm for many years. I owned a spa in a resort town and since lockdowns and covid I moved my practice to my private home. I am word of mouth only. Don't even advertise on Google. I appreciate how organic you are with your approach to reaching others. God bless you. You are gorgeous! About red light therapy, I purchased a full body medical grade device from Platinum LED and have been using it almost daily 2X/day for 2 years now and have not noticed any hyperpigmentation in my skin. I'm Irish with fair skin and do have some brown spots on my face (I'm 57) but the red light seems to be helping to significantly lighten those spots. Staying out of the sun also helps. I started lifting (non-competitive body building) when I turned 40, and have always been physically active. I can tell you that exercise is the fountain of youth, not just for skin but also for maintaining muscle and strength as we age. I've been using Dr. Kappel's skin care line for over a year and cannot get over how amazing my skin looks. Strangers have commented on how beautiful my skin is and think I'm a decade + younger than I am. It comes down to lifestyle. Reduce stress, eat clean, limit or eliminate alcohol, exercise, meditate, and choose to be happy. It will take you far. I absolutely adore Dr. Kappel for sharing her knowledge with us, developing an incredible product line and for having a level of integrity that seems rare today.
