    Watch our latest video: bit.ly/carbuyervideos
    The Ford Kuga is competent, practical and reasonably enjoyable to drive, while a recent facelift has kept it looking good on the outside. The news is less rosy inside though, as the dashboard feels a little dated and the infotainment system still lags behind the competition. With rivals like the SEAT Ateca and Mazda CX-5 snapping at the Kuga's heels, it's not quite as appealing a car as it once was.

    It's a shame that reviewers never read the manual, as the 'step' in the boot can be easily removed in 5 seconds when you raise the honeycomb base. You can actually see the notches that it is supposed to sit on in the review. Oh well!

    • @mjames2117
      @mjames2117 Před 5 lety

      It is not an issue. Boot is still quite large/ perfect for the size of the car, spacesaver is still below the floor. Qashqai is much smaller with spacesaver eats into the boot space. If moving larger items where boot space is an issue then would need to invest in/ borrow a van.

    Ford always seem to get a hard time whenever they are reviewed. Personally, I believe that the Kuga is one of the best SUV’s on the market. What I love about Ford is that you know what your getting and they don’t cost too much to maintain.

    If you want to see a car with lots of plastic inside, the Kia Sportage SL is my favourite. I owned one, but never in the whole time I owned it, I touched the dashboard or whatever while driving and thought about the quality. NO ONE DOES THAT! Last week I had a test drive with a 2017 Ford Kuga and it was great. And, at the end, a tip from me to you: read the f*****g owners manual before filming. In the trunk there should be spacers to place the floor mat on it, and the notches near the rear seats are for that. Just saying.

    I'm glad our 2017 Ford Escape has the 2.0 EcoBoost, it certainly moves it to the top of the segment for power and acceleration, though I would possibly enjoy a manual, over the auto, but the paddle shifter are quick enough for an compact crossover.

    @3m55: The boot floor can be adjusted to remove the step in the load floor when you fold the seats down ALSO the 180HP 2.0D AWD can be had in manual form, it's not auto only as I have one......... my dealer worked on me in March until I gave in and traded up my PCP from C-Max to new Kuga that was in unsold stock (manufactured in December 2016). It's a very refined car and in 2.0D AWD 180 HP form, I'm getting around 42mpg from it, not as good as the 52 I got from 1.5TD C-Max but better than I thought, but better than expected (I'd budgeted for 40mpg) - and the extra power is noticeable and appreciated on occasions where a rapid bout of acceleration is required (eg when overtaking trucks). The car is costing me £40 per month less than the C-Max on 38 month zero percent PCP. Sync3 suffers from 2 big negatives compared to the Sony system in the C-Max, first is that there is no mute button which is a serious omission IMHO, second is that there is no Radiotext either - oh, and having tried the fitted Android Auto (AA) it appears to be a waste of time and space as the standard Bluetooth connection does almost everything better than having to have a cable connected for AA to work.
    The ride is good bordering on excellent and it's the second best car I have ever driven as far is smoothing out speeedbumps at low speeds, steering has plenty of feel.
    The boot is still too small on occasions, how I miss my 2001 Galaxy where I could remove the 5 rear seats to have a 2-seat luxury van for moving kids to/from university !
    Also front parking sensors are not standard on all versions of the Kuga and I had to get mine retro-fitted. I also wish that there was an option for the doors to self-lock when you drive off, as per most Renaults for example.
    So, full marks to the dealer for their continued dialogue that resulted in me changing my car for something that I'd only previously dreamed about. Long live Le Roi (my car's plate starts RO1)
