Aiming is a thing a lot of you requested. It's something you have to have a feeling for and need to know the basics off before you can really improve.
In this video I will attempt to bring your aim to a higher level.
We will be covering:
Camera Position
Convergence
Vertical Targeting
Relative speeds
Aiming techniques
and some general tips and tricks on how to improve your aim.

How to aim in a plane:
1. Someone snipes your pilot before you even had a chance.
Fucking true. Yesterday I was being tailed by a MiG-3 and a Bf109 while piloting my P-39Q (RB 3.0 BR). The second I realised what I was up against, dived down 3,5 km alt and broke into a ground level high speed evade. I was nailing through buildings and trees at over 700 kph, increasing my distance from the attackers. The MiG was struggling to hit me, I was evading all of his shots. The 109 quickly lost track on me, sitting at a 1.6km behind. After a nearly 2 minute escape, very close to my airfield, the fucking 109 lucky snipes me by shooting at random. Not a single bullet had damage my plane. That one bullet was all it took. I was furious, I never typed things in the chat so furious in my life before. Even looking at the replay it was obvious something strange happened

Yea been killing enemies plane with bombs instead of mg and rockets y know since i can just fly low straight and wait for the right moment and yeet that bomd and hope that the bomd got my tailer

Fly Russians. Got a kill with only 14 of the last 20 rounds out of two B-20S cannons with default ammo belts. I waited and waited until I got a bead on the wing and chopped it off. The target was a Ta152C-3. That was after getting three other kills in my Yak-9UT. And I even felt like I was spraying quite a bit. XD
Bf 109’s and FW 190’s in arcade would disagree
7:30 is a valuable lesson for newer players. I see too many folks trying to pop me well out of their range these days.

@@Joe-nq6hy just take inertia into account when shooting, don't aim where their nose is pointing, aim sort of in between where they were heading and where their nose is pointing
To me the most important thing to learn was to shoot A LOT. Especially when you are New with Guns you really better let it all sing a lot when you have a chance. I was way too careful with my trigger and i learnt way too slowly. I was afraid to give away my position (as i only play sim battles and tracers give away your position and tracer colour even your nationality sometimes) So i felt really hesitant to shoot away. Then i loaded stealth belt and i felt much More eager to spray, also i saw the impact More clearly. So fire away whenever you have a chance!
Hard to do that with a 262 or MiG 15 however. Americans it's fine/
@@norfangl3480 oh yeah. I never did terribly well with MiG-15. The cannons are way too slow firing For my taste and the gyro sight is awfoul
@@norfangl3480 USA planes are the definition of spray and pray. Really annoying when you're trying to have a turnfight and they hold their trigger the entire time.
The problem is that only works with planes that can afford to spray, use some Russian planes and you’ll learn real fast to be conservative with your ammo

@@_lo8241 6x Pe-8 (AI) in SIM with the J7W1 in one pass and landed on airfield. (the "pusher" Prop. was the trick - also possible with Narval).
I wish I could kill a pillbox.

I am level 49. I know level doesn't mean anything, but just to give an idea on my experience. I still struggle to hit targets and I feel this vid really helped. I'll be practicing what you've highlighted. Thanks for the great video!

This guy was cheating FTR! Aim bot and visible leads in realistic battles. His recording is just on a clean 2nd monitor well his cheats are on him main monitor.

This guide was good, even for me a quite experienced player. I never really read into the mechanics of this game, just did it by feel. I got some good info from this guide. Keep it up.

Finally, more people that did everything in this game on instinct and didn’t read through the 100 pages worth of mechanics while doing some hardcore calculus, trig and algebra all on the fly (no pun intended) to play well-
I loved this video! I've been watching dozens of videos on this topic and this has been the easiest to understand so far! Please do more of these! You're explaining the difference in aim while the target is in a turn was completely new to me. I'd not seen anyone make that point. Keep it up brother!
Hey man, I found this video by pure coincidence but it's actually pretty informative. After like 600 hours in the game, there are still some mechanics that aren't clear since I don't play planes much apart from ground striking. But it's very helpful and I'll be waiting for a second part. Keep it up!

Great video. Targets drifting outside their apparent turn circle is something I have never considered.
Overall this video is very detailed and will give most players something to think about. I'll definitely watch further installments.

Arcade peasant here since 2013. This aim guide has inspired me to actually get my ass into realistic more. Vids and guides with concise nuggets of information like these are golden and far too few. Props yo you brah for taking time to do this but it does benefit those who don't have the time to watch longer tutorials or observe streamers.
super informative vid. i am definitely an old returning player, but never got seriously into it. I'd basically just fly around enough, and learn tid bits here and there as I go, watching others knock me out of the sky. this is going to help me a bunch!

Great video series. I'd love to see more about positioning and decision making (especially in allied teams around 4.0 BR). You already go through your thought process quite well but its sometimes too quick and too advanced for a newb to follow and learn from. Thanks again for working so hard to help others improve at this game.

Very useful guide. To be honest I've found myself extending my convergence out to 800 meters which has helped me considerably, however, I think I may reign it in to around the 500m - 600m as per your suggestion and see how it goes.
As an additional aside, it's good to see a positive video which is trying to help community members. I'll certainly be checking out more of your channel.

Try using the Blenheim with 50m convergence and vertical targeting.. I’d like to see you aim with that!

And let me guess... Drink an energy drink to "improve" your reaction time. You don't need a fancy ass chair or a useless drink that will increase your chances of cardiac arrest. And when I say energy drinks are useless, I mean they just keep you up past 3:00 A.M. I'm not speaking from experience (except for the chair part), but I just know you're wasting yourself away. Get gud - at life, my bro. I'll admit, WT is fun. But it's fun when you ACTUALLY play with the level you already play at.

playing this game since 2014, i have pretty much everything ingame, but i suck at jets, after a friend showed me Defyn channel, things changed, used to be tanks main, now i dont even want to touch tanks anymore . this channel its a goldmine

Hello! Thanks for taking your time to explain these things! I’m a skilled World of Warplanes player but the game became quite monotonous, especially with my love for bombers and GAAs. I started WT and was overwhelmed with the sheer amount of knowledge a person needs to use in real time to actually hit a plane and I love it! Thank you for keeping up and making more videos! I find it very frustrating that War Thunder doesn't have any ballistics cameras or simulations, so you can't personally see where your rounds are going, so you can't understand what you're doing wrong when aiming. But your examples helped clear it up for me!

for the love of god (or replace with your favorite deity here) keep these coming!. Up until today i had never been properly told WTH was vertical targeting or how did it work. Up until today i never knew why if i was leading my guns in the curve why i wasn't hitting, it never dawned on me that the frikkin plane drifts, and of course it does! but now i know :D so PLEASE keep these coming. I have literally got to my first jets on grind alone, best match ever i think i got 3 kills? But with this new knowledge (to me) i feel i might start to improve and actually be useful to the team (besides being a movable bullet magnet, that is)
