The way the game looks somehow reminds me of FFXII remastered. Fast forward option too. Awesome. Gotta love that, sometimes battling can be a drag that takes too long when it is turn based combat due to the animations.
FF12 was the first thing I thought of too
did they drastically lower the difficulty like they did with ffxii remastered? ffxii was one of my favorites but they completely ruined it for me with the remaster by taking one of the most challenging ff games and turning it into the easiest, with no option to play with the original difficulty.

This is my first time playing it and like I thought, it is amazing. I'm a huge fan of the SaGa series and this is basically the next installment with a different name. Saga usually got mixed or bad reviews so I didn't let that sway me from buying it. The best JRPG I've played in a loooong time. If you like a challenging non-linear rpg, I'd recommend it. Especially if you were a fan of Romancing Saga/Saga Frontier. Looking forward to playing this game in the next 2 weeks. Don't expect a groundbreaking story (like most saga games) but the gameplay is so fun and can be very difficult which is a plus for me. I also got the remastered FF12 and it's so easy I just had to quit playing.
Yes, this is definitely a game for you. I think SaGa Frontier 2 is one of my all time favorite games. -Azario
I finally got around to playing this remaster. I finished the original, but I'm over 40yrs old now and could not remember to save my life lol. Anyway..its such a great game! I'm really enjoying it! (,again? lol)
I actually didn't like the battle system from the early Saga games, but this game does look interesting as I've always like tactical squad base games.

I have a special place in my heart for this game, the music, the environments, and the characters, even though the critics skewered the hell out of the 360 original. It probably suffered from the same problem that Final Fantasy 12 did on PS2, 2 years earlier in 2006. They probably pushed the technical limits of the game slightly past what the hardware could smoothly handle. But it was impressive when it did work well. I'm one of those weird people that's willing to overlook badly reviewed games if they have good heartwarming characters. If I ever upgrade to a PS4, I will give strong consideration to getting this current-gen re-port.
It’s perhaps the best way to play it as it does wonders to the frame rate during battles!
360 version was barely playable
From bad framerate to sudden screen freeze to 50 other minor to huge game breaking bug
Tried so hard to play at its release date with 360 but hardly manages to play roughly 5 hours

This game is mostly about the combat the story is whatever I guess. I enjoy the combat on these games im pretty sure you shouldn't care about JRPG story telling once your balls drop but in my early 20s when this game released I definitely enjoyed the combat.

Nice review. I've been playing this game on the PC recently and only just now heard about the remaster. Which version would be better? Though I have a suspicion that it's just a port of the PC version
it's a port of the PC version using Unreal Engine 4 with a few added balances. They also redrew the icons, if you find that stuff cool :) Personally, I think it holds up and does look a bit better than the PC version. My only gripe is that they took the PC version off the online stores before this version released.

Alexander Luna it’s the story and the writing as well as the battle system that really makes it great. I think the graphics are what make people think twice but its just a really good series to put 200 hours into

It’s a lot faster. I remember being so forgiving of the frame rate on Xbox 360, but returning to it years later showed me how clunky it was. This version definitely fixes all that.

@@NoisyPixelNews I think it's SE move to get people buy PS4 and SW version, as game run too well on PC and very cheap much below the 20$ on PS4 now. And PC also you could edit the ini for manual weapon , I think the game was released very uncompleted. Who love this game should buy the Brandy guide for alot more information on the game system

Isn't this the game where you're better off avoiding battles and grind in order to have an easier time?
The original Xbox version had that problem. Here, if you aren't much stronger than your enemy you should be completely fine so don't grind on weak mobs.
(If you start a battle with much higher morale than your enemy then it's weak mobs)
I can confirm from having owned the OG 360 version and the PC remaster. The penalty for grinding has been balanced alot. I wouldn't worry so much if you have the remaster about overleveling the BR
Man i was falling in love with this game i was going to go so fast to get it. But good thing i decided to watch game play man i changed my mind the fighting system it sucks so bad :( i was so heartbroken & so disappointed. :( i hate tactics games & the fighting is like tactics Everything else was 100% nice but the fighting ruined it for me :(

I like strategy games so this fits in my book too. You should play the FFVII remaster demo; the battle mechanic should be up your ally.
I feel you, the battle system in RPGs/JRPGs is the most important facet of the game. If I dont like the battle system, I just cant get into it. I havent played this one yet, but I think I'll give it a chance
The thing that sucks about this battle system is that the enemies level up with you, so it's best to play by avoiding fights. It also means if you build your character wrong you are stuck and have to start over. I got stuck in the original game and never went back to it. I was hoping they would fix this issue in the remaster, but it seems like that's not the case.
