      @@LAGSAS Just finished the game. The credits are rolling right now as I type this, actually. After finally getting around to playing it, I have to say, it surpassed my expectations. I went from disliking it for the first 10 hours, to liking it for the next 30, to thinking quite highly of it by the end. For a B/C level JRPG (as far as budget goes), the story has a lot of heart, and the combat is very impressive. I'll be looking forward to the possibility of a third game.

    Even though it fell a bit flat, I thought the CE: Overdose had a lot of potential. Sometimes developers need to fail before they succeed, so I'm glad to see a sequel, and hope the CE2 builds on the first game's strengths and remedies its weak points.

    • @InfectedElite
      @InfectedElite Před 2 lety +2

      agreed. Thats why other games like Biomutant and Back 4 Blood had so much potential, if a sequel to those happens it could be much much better. However B4B should have had an offline mode and bots only instead of needing ppl etc. tons wrong with it tbh

  • @maroXUprising
    @maroXUprising Před 2 lety +7

    If Caligula Effect 2 truly has improved upon the formula of the first game such as dungeon designs, characters & writing... Then I’m sold, definitely have this on my wish list.
    The Overdose remaster had so many flaws yet the minor things that stood out from my experience was the Soundtrack.
    Glad to hear the switch version for CE 2 seems to be a step up from the first game, even though there’s definitely still some jankiness in the character animations just like the first game.
    Anyways, aside from Caligula Effect 2. Looking forward to the developers other game that’s coming out soon in Japan called ‘Monark’

    I am sick of videos regurgitating Metacritic scores and saying all the same old shit games are amazing. I am a big fan of Ys and Tales of and continually hear their most mediocre entries being hailed as the best and must play games.
    I love this review and I love how you have introduced me to a series I didn't know about and made me excited to play it. To be quite frank trawlling jrpg reviews and finding the same 15 games every time, usually 13 of which I don't like, reviews like this make my game shopping so much easier. Also you referenced the soundtrack being amazing and OST is much more important to me than graphics.

    • @buddhabinaural
      @buddhabinaural Před 2 lety +1

      @@NoisyPixelNews I kind of gave up on reviews, when BotW, one of the worst Zelda games ever made, got 10/10, or 100 scores almost everywhere.
      BotW was full of fetch quests and that slow trawl across the huge empty landscape to complete them was so boring and combined with the shocking VA (some of the worst I've heard), poor OST (worst of any Zelda) and lack of excitement, poor dungeon's, stamina comparable to a baby who's parent's smoked 40 a day through pregnancy, lame puzzles, repetitive enemies of up turned buckets and trolls, boring enemy design (forementioned buckets) and the failed visual combination of Ghibli meets Valkyria Chronicles just looking like a washed out Ghibli. The fact it got any top scores whatsoever is beyond me. It is a game that is past floored, to the point of complete ruin and I questioned for the first time in my life if companies were getting back handed cash bungs for reviews.
      I find it impossible to rate it above a 2/10 at £45 for 6 hours of being bored to tears by my favourite franchise of almost 30 years. And I did that twice. I played WiiU first and then foolishly gave it a second chance on Switch. I remember being sat there saying over and over in my head please something just happen, I've waited years for this and want it to be good and it never did and is one of gamings biggest let downs.
      This seeing games that don't get mentioned getting 9.5 gives me some hope, I have not enjoyed a AAA game since Fire Emblem 3 Houses and hoping that this is maybe the game I've been looking for.
      I have subbed.

    I'm not going to lie, I'm kinda bummed out that we can't be a musician in this one like we could got Overdose. It seems even stranger when the game gives you multiple opportunities to say you're unsure about going back, and even has companions that feel the same. I like the whole, you go through both sides of the fight element. When I realised that I got 2 major bosses in and wasnt going to be a musician I was disappointed. The dungeons and combat definitely got better though. Except the side quests are boring and stilted still ngl
