Senua's Saga: Hellblade II is an extraordinary gaming experience that masterfully blends cinematic storytelling with immersive gameplay, creating a hauntingly beautiful journey through the darkest corners of Senua's mind. The game excels in its exceptional visuals, brilliant audio design, and compelling narrative, making it a standout title in Microsoft's lineup. While the combat and puzzles may not offer significant depth, the overall experience is one of raw emotional power and artistic brilliance that leaves a lasting impression. This is a game that truly exemplifies what it means to create without compromise.

Audio for the gameplay sounds kind of muffled to me. Does it normally sound like that?

reviews seem to be all over the place. it felt like it would be a glorified tech demo, with the story filled in around it
I absolutely loved ROM: 2064! I loved the characters, the sense of humor, the exploration, the puzzles, the drama, etc. I'm even replaying it just to relive the experience. So when I heard Neurodiver was finally making it's way out I couldn't wait to play it. I couldn't wait to revisit the art style, the music, the social conversations and more. Unfortunately that didn't happen I was extremely disappointed. It had so much potential that it was building up to just to end as soon as it was getting good. It was way too short for how long it was delayed. It pales in comparison to 2064. Also, it really doesn't feel like a point and click. I was prepared to interact with the world, have a map, and be able to use spoiled milk on stuff again... but this game wasn't that at all. You could only view things not touch, talk, or use. It was like a visual novel with very limited dialogue options. It allowed me to take note of spoiled milk but there wasn't anything else I could do. The conversations in this game were super shallow and the cast of characters were less charming and more corny. Not enough characters get fully developed. I was very interested in crow and seeing more of Tomcat showcase their hacking skills. It was nice to see old characters again like Jess, Lexi, Turing, and Tomcat, but It felt so surface level. I thought they'd come into play for the new cast missions, but they're just there for random flashbacks. I was especially disappointed with Turings return. He literally assisted in the robot awakening and became the spokesperson after the whole 2064 incident, but in neurodiver, he hardly mentions it and is only shown as a plant loving sidekick. He doesn't even mention the other main character who he spent so long with solving mysteries. There was hardly any gameplay at all. The only thing you can really do is enter people's memories, look around at items, and pick random items to try and solve the fragments. I was expecting to go on adventures using Lexis skills, Jess's connections, Tomcats hacking, Turings previous experience, Lunas psychic abilities and Gates combat skills. But we hardly see anything happen as far as gameplay. Gate ended up being useless because the neurodiver was never in any danger or threatened. I'm hoping they have something else lined up to follow up this game since it ended with " until next time." However, that seems really unlikely in the near future. I'm not sure if I just went in with the wrong expectations of it being a cool continuation of 2064 or developing in that world, but this just wasn't what I hoped for.

Overacting: the game. The protagonist needs to learn how to close her mouth.
Very well done review.
😎👍
Man this game is getting very mixed reviews. I’ve seen 6.5 & 9.0. Interesting 🤔
Yea idk what’s going on with the game being advertised or promoted after the recent lay offs with the game studios. Honestly this game should’ve been focused with PlayStation or just been on every platformer to begin with . So we will see but LOVE YALL and it deserves a 9 for the work put in it at least
Tell me you're salty that the game isn't on PS5 without telling me you're salty. Even if it ever does come to PS5, you'll have to wait quite a while. Stop crying that this game isn't on your beloved PlayStation and get an Xbox or a PC. Or better yet, if you can't afford either of those, just get Game Pass Ultimate and steam it through the cloud.
lol Hi Fi Rush at the level of Doom and Halo? wtf Azario xd . I will return to this comment in 10 years to see how it aged: P
I’m sorry? But those are games that Microsoft could easily create yearly or bi-yearly releases of and they’d probably sell well. This is a game that I don’t think you can do that. Theres also nothing wrong with Doom or Halo. - Azario
Digital only?? No thanks!
Get used to it my dude eventually it’ll all be digital Nintendo might be the exception, and even then at some point in the future they’ll go all digital too
I remember not liking the UI one bit when I first played it. Felt messy
There's a mission where you walk around for almost an hour lighting oil lanterns...masterpiece 😑
You forgot this is modern game journalism, gameplay is not king anymore. Its catering for casual movie-gamers hence the journalistic praise. Wonder how much re-play value all these masterpieces have? None.
You forgot this is modern game journalism, gameplay is not king anymore. Its catering for casual movie-gamers hence the journalistic praise. Wonder how much re-play value all these masterpieces have? None.
Pass. I didn't enjoy the first one.
A Cinematic Masterpiece indeed ! tanx 4 the rev
Thanks for the review. Had played the PC port shortly, but dropped it. Kind of had forgotten why, so I wanted to get back into it with the news of the Switch port. But endless/mindless grind, yeah, that's a no-no. Too many games are released to waste dozens of hours on grinding like this.
I'm more hype for games like Animal Well because I don't trust Hollywood style storytelling (overly melodramatic and trauma based) and I've never enjoyed walking simulators. I guess I'll watch someone else play/react to it.
No physical release, i won't take it, like Allan wake 2. And I don't want the game pass. I like to buy my physical games, I won't change.
Well then ur screwed in the future cuz eventually it’s all gonna be digital
Enjoy your old games. Times change. Either change with them, or be… bored? 🤷🏾♂️ Seriously, no physical does suck, I know people my age who have been collecting most of their lives. Doesn’t change the future though
Voting with your wallet on digital vs physical makes no sense in 2024. All you're doing is hurting companies chances for making sequels to great games Especially Alan Wake 2. People act like tht game is some established multi billion dollar studio/publisher. Boycotting them over a decision Epic Games (who they needed to partner with to even get the game funded) is incredibly dumb. Just support good games and download torrents if you wanna backup copy for "preservation"
You are going to be left behind in the zeitgeist, old man.
@@PantsaBear Exactly. Going on meaningless boycotts that won't change the course of the industry in the slightest all because a high quality game isn't released physically is only a disservice to the studio and yourself. It doesn't matter if you buy Hellblade 2 or Alan Wake 2 or not. Most games will eventually become digital-only anyways. Refusing to buy a game and supporting the devs will only lead to worse outcomes.
Sadly people will just watch streams of this game and proceed to bash the game in the comments section like they experienced it first hand
It's a cinematic experience after all. Why should someone play it? You can just watch it and won't miss a thing 🤷🏼♂️
I mean… it’s basically a glorified movie
This would make the experience tailored to whoever is playing it. The voices in Senua’s head react to things like what you’re looking and stuff. People could do that, but I feel like it’s a disservice to themselves.
@@NoisyPixelNews dont bother defending ma dood. Its not worth it. They'll just hate anyway
What would you rate it on PC?
probably around 6~7? probably higher if the mod for no grinding was in
Xbox always wins ✅
Masterpiece? Shame on you
Glad hellblade 2 is on xbox game pass I love hellblade feels like a cinematic movie I play with subtitles off.

so basically its a movie instead of a game. yea this shit will definitely flop

@@theredoctopus3196 Microsoft are ignorant
Sadly, it will probably flop because Xbox put zero efforts into marketing this masterpiece!
Then why tf am I getting Hellblade 2 ads on Reddit and CZcams?
And they don't have the consumers 👍
Tonight’s Celtics game is brought to you by Hellblade 2
They did actually a lot of marketing for the game. Don't forget that this is a story driven game of about 5-7 hours playtime, you can't show everything in Trailers. They made one big mistake though. Announcing the game way to early and we now know that Ninja Theory did not work on the game while presenting the first concept trailer. Years later Hellblade II turned for Microsoft from "This is our very own God of War" to "This is a smaller scale experience". Microsoft has to learn simply not announcing a game when it is 4-5 years away. Same problems with Fable, Everwild and the Perfect Dark Reboot. In this regard, don't blame the studio behind it. Glad to see Hellblade II turned out the way it is.
It’s a 7 hour movie game with 2 hours of cutscene. Not much to market.
So 9 because of lack of fights? It is a 10 hours game so yea that can't be the cause
Nice, hope MS won't del ninja now xd
Did you keep that same energy when Sony shut down Japan Studio? Did you say they're gonna shut down Media Molecule next? Or does that only apply when it's Xbox?
Glad this game turned out so well. Seeing a lot of the same thoughts on it. Hopefully it sells well though 😬
Happy to see the series get some love
It’s a very tense adventure
First 🤷🏼♂️
Oh god, the comment section flaming that you gave a defective port of a grindy game a middling score... Now if they REALLY want to see a quality title given a criminally low score they should check out NP's review of Saya no Uta.
Tbf their complaints are mostly about the console port. The grinding is a valid complaint, but it's not THAT bad and certainly not so bad to know it all the way down to a 4/10. Apparently there is a pc mod that removed the grinding by giving you 999 books from stages you finish to burn. A bit overkill since you only need like 5-10 books depending on its rarity to get all the pages.
Why are you guys bringing up the PC version in a Switch review? 😅
@@Renko324 Doesn't say it's a review of the Switch version specifically
@@paledrake0:46
@@paledrake I don't think reviewers should take community mods into consideration for their reviews. The ability to use said mods and their continued availability and compatibility are not guaranteed, and there will be people wary of using the mods even if they are available. Hell, some mods can even cause stability issues with other mods or change the default system requirements, making any talk of performance and optimization completely useless. Also adds unrealistic pressures and expectations on reviewers to scour obscure and sketchy sites. Just think how impossible such expectations would make any Skyrim review.
PM fams in shambles! They can't accept that LoR has problems and that it isn't accessible for everyone! 😅
It certainly has its issues, especially with Switch, but it doesn’t really justify a 4/10

Wew now have VA, seriously I don't know about this. I have played on android.
Looks like western indie slop
The game was good and the story was good. I was looking for more depth though in how the story resolved. More into the difficulty it can be to have a brother pass away. Making that, their mothers favoritism, and River's mental illness. I'd loved it if they used those facets (or even minus the favoritism) to get them to the moon. Instead of just bringing back the brother and letting Johnny fill in the gaps with River later on. I really liked Rivers character. Sometimes though it almost felt like everyone was shaming Johnny during the middle part of the game for his decisions and caring about her so much. It would have been nice for them to wrap up the other characters later on saying in a missing note that said, "you really loved her, didn't you." A good game that left me wanting more from the ending. Had me in the feelings at moments which was nice with good mixture of silliness from the male scientist. 7.5 would be my rating and I'd be specific on who I'd offer the game too. Likely those with patience and some emotional intelligence.
Didn't play the 3DS version because it didn't get the japanese content update. Now i can finally enjoy it with an even better presentation.
I can't wait to replay this and Stories 2 on my PS5. Especially this one for the voice acting.
Damn, the art style is so cool, shame it is so grindy.
The PC version can easily access a no grinding mod, which would mititgate this and save you apparently something like 30 hours of play time? Get it there
People exaggerate a lot on how grindy the game is, specially with obtaining cards.
@darknesdkzr472 It's not that bad in the beginning, but once fights take like an hour to finish, it gets annoying farming for more books to burn if you have bad RNG.
Another 4/10 no way 😭
Long live project moon!!!!
Noisy Pixel proves they are too dumb to understand the systems and instead bash their head in grinding
