Nick’s heart shattered into a million pieces when Joseph said 2.5 😂
It did. I saw it.
The epic amounts of side eye and eye rolling in this video 😂
Love it when they disagree like this. Can’t wait to watch this movie so I can pick a side 😂😂
Riiight I was cacklingggg. But I tend to have the same tastes and sensibilities as Nick so I feel I will love it. Especially because he was drawn to the subtle symbolism and relatability. That's my thing
I love when Nick goes IN on a review. You can feel how passionate he is about film and looking for all the meaning. It's so rare that he gives perfect scores. Love hearing his thoughts. 🌸
I was shocked how this film could create a tragic fate much worse that death.
Giving a metaphor of what are the consequences of human ambition in the search of perfection and to avoid struggle.
The shock in Gabrielle is really hearthbreaking
1:53 Joseph trying to hold back from laughing 🤭 😂
Hahahaha
Joseph is so patient while Nick invests his heart into his review. Honestly though, I can close my eyes and feel Joseph rolling his.
FYI. Do what the film tells you to in the end credits. Scan that QR code. It leads to a short scene.
Also the director and his wife wrote the score for the film. Polymath.
you are absolutely right. I went in not knowing anything and I hated it. I didn't even know what I was watching. I almost walked out
😭😮 NICKS FACE WHEN JOSEPH GAVE HIS SCORE. OOOOOOOOOOO LAAAAWD ! 😭😭😭😩😩❤️💯
Go on Nick with your fancy vest!! ❤️
I was looking for a vídeo giving an opinión about the screaming end and wasnt dissapointed and even all the little details you mention: rudyard, the deaths, the AI emotionless reference through the years, great review
I agree with Nick. I enjoyed this movie, even though I had no prior familiarity with the work it was based upon. The 2044 design made sense. It was a metaphor for the sterilization of emotions in that time period.
I went in totally blind, not familiar with the novel, the director, or a fan of Lea in particular. I ended up loving the film and felt it summed up a lot of anxieties I feel about the future of art, culture, and emotion, as someone whose life passion and line of work is currently seeing massive developments in AI technology. I think this film is extremely valuable for people who view art, mythology, and the stories we tell ourselves as intrinsic to identity and human experience, and has worries about where things may be heading and how coherent our inner and outer worlds will stay as things continue down the path we’re on. It’s a particularly terrifying watch with that in mind.
2014 Louis is supposed to be Elliott Rodgers. The events even take place in May 2014 like his shootings/stabbings.
“Yeah, it was such a pleasure.” 😂😂😂
i’m so glad you mentioned at the beginning that you had referenced this movie in a different review you did, because when I saw the thumbnail with the title, I felt like I recognized it. So I checked my letterboxd watchlist and saw that this movie was already added. & the only place I get movie reviews is from you guys so I knew it had to be from you, especially since this isn't a mainstream American blockbuster … so glad I’m not crazy!
Really excited to see this even though I’ll probably land more in line with Joseph’s opinion - seeing Nicks excitement makes it something to look forward. I know it’ll be a viewing experience for sure.
Great video!🎉
I LOVE the thumbnai. Such a vibe 😎😘
I’ve seen it three times now! I think it’s a masterpiece, personally, but can definitely see people not liking this.
very helpful review, thanks
I love absolutely every time when Nick breaks out the fire..❤
Love the T-shirt lol
Love Joseph’s T-shirt ❤. The light-up vest is great too ❤❤❤
I have to say I fuckin loved the movie and that's without fully understanding what the story was going on. The experience alone was just incredible
This movie looks fascinating. I will have to watch it alone, but I usually watch movies alone. I prefer it.
I've been waiting for this. Both Léa and George are having a fantastic year. Thank you.
Edit: the premise reminds me of The Fountain with Hugh Jackman
Uncle Nick got that SHIT ON 🔥💅🏾
Oh very different options love this ❤❤❤😅😊
Oh the side eye though 😂😂😂😂😂😂
no because I am Nick and my boyfriend is Joseph 😂 you guys are the best
Really enjoy when u guys have different takes
this movie was amazing!!! super exciting to watch
nick cosplaying as Gayvin the Hunter was a nice change of pace. lol all jokes aside, I like the boa. (is it a boa? idk it looks like one to me.💀)
Maybe a vest? But how cool- it even lights up w/multi colored lights!
It's a vest.
I'm really interested in seeing this film though
Wonderful film with two great watchable leads...Lèa and Georgè... plus George is so chilling in the 2014 sequences, he could explore his own film... Terrifying. What we are seeing on the news today... As with so many releases today, it could have lost 20 minutes or so... still, I really enjoyed it. I must also say Lèa has never looked so captivating... A pleasant surprise on a Saturday Afternoon.. Something to think about. Has time and disconnected technology caused us to lose some of our passion for life and emotion? It so... It is a great loss.. Not only in love but life itself....
I've been waiting for this review. 😂 Bonello is a provocateur and this film is a bold, original, fascinating and frustrating watch but I'm so glad that i watched it. Léa is exceptional in it.
Joseph's facial expressions were absolutely hilarious.
I like that Nick brought up Hole's lyrics from "Violet". It reminded me of The Cars lyrics from "It's All I Can Do", "Once in a moment it all comes to you, As soon as you get it, you want something new". If AI can remove my emotional baggage, I would take it🤪
Whoa. 5 out of 5. Debating whether to watch this tonight.
Thanks guys. And i ❤ that you both are keeping it reel & even with the eye rolling 😂, still respect each other opinions. Now that is a true❤story, that no Ai can touch.😊
Nick your take on the movie makes me want to see it, merci.
Have a nice day🙋🏿♀️
Wow! A perfect score from Nick. Now I’ve got to see it.
Loved this movie!
saw this at the London Film Festival and George MacKay did a Q&A afterwards - interestingly he learnt French for the film. looking forward to seeing it again as I think I i missed quite a few things the first time around
I totally agree with Joseph's 2.5 rating. You can't lament the loss of emotion when the characters never showed much passion in the first place. The longer the film went on (and it goes on for 2.5 hours), the more vapid it seemed.
So amazingly, fascinating film. Spot on Nick!
I feel like this is how my sister and i argue over films. Although.... I defend movies like hellraiser, while she loves 50 shades and twilight
So at least you both have taste is what I'm saying haha
I feel like after they filmed this they continued to disagree about this for the next 6 hours
Oh my god. The feelings this movie has me in! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Can’t wait to see it again. Thanks for the poem confirmation! I noticed it was Rudyard Kipling but couldn’t see which one.
See, when I think of a movie called The Beast, I think of the 1975 Walerian Borowczyk movie that has some wild sequences with what looks like an anthropomorphic Tasmanian Devil that... I'm not sure if I can say without getting in trouble. Just check the movie out for yourselves if you get the chance!
After this review I am most definitely going to watch this film. Usually I agree with Joseph when you guys disagree about a movie. This time around I have a hunch that I might side with Nick. But I will see. Nick displays so much passion about this film and I LOVE IT!!!
I couldn't help delighting at the furry light up vest. The movie is intriguing to me. The differing opinions make it more so. Love Léa Seydoux.
This film sounds like stages of depression. Depressive, major depression, dysthymia. Also, when there's nothing shiny to feed my soul for 2hrs straight... not interested.
I think this is only the second time I've seen you guys disagree!!! And the other time it was a smaller margin!
Nick I love that vest on you!
I’m going to watch this just for Dasha
I had to pause at 3 minutes, my friend and I were talking to someone after the movie ended. He literally said he was doing homework. He's a film major.
I thought it was a good movie, great ending
Is this the most divided you two have been on a film?
civil war😅
How does she have a life in 2014 and again looking mid 40s only 30 years later lol
It’s her past lives, not the same lifetime.
Both of you are emotionally divided over this - guess that answers the question if humans should 'erase' the emotions that makes people whole - for better or worse! 🤨Even your wide ratings here show the movie has achieved it's aim - having emotions win🥲☺
DONTT DIVORCE OVER A FILM, GUYS I kid (still, work it out. It's disconcerting to think of you not together...)
Chiiiiiiile the subtext of this review 😅
I'm not sure NIck was in vibe with this movie.......
This movie was just completely dull. I gave it an hour, that was all I could stand. It's the first time in years that I have walked out of the theater, but I'm not a fan of movies with subtitles.
I’m Team Joseph all the way. If you want to see George Mackay, see Femme.
5/5 what an incredible film
