What’s crazy is hosting a screening of a goofy movie (my eyes were almost permanently crossed throughout the whole thing) and having to smile enthusiastically afterwards and realizing folks loved it. I thought I had lost MY mind. Thank you for this enjoyable review.

Joseph’ with his nuanced expressions really hilarious - check the hard stare when Nick takes a reckless drink, (clearly enjoining himself on his vacay) … J brings out the fun police, his expression seemingly saying: ‘oh snap you did not just drink that beverage up in the camera when I’m waiting til we’re done to have mine’
They also did the Hollywood thing of having every major battle take place on a famous monument.
Is that a problem?

Honestly not really the difference between this and Jurassic Park is that Jurassic Park the first one at least was trying to be a grounded science fiction story while also wanting to be about the dinosaurs. This movie just wanted to be an over the top monster mash. The stars are Godzilla and Kong not the humans. The core audience going to see these types of films simply doesn't care about the human story for the most part and wants the focus on Kong and Godzilla. Most of the critiques toward the earlier movies in this series was based around audiences not caring about about human characters and wanting more focus on Godzilla and Kong.

I like it when Godzilla is just a ferocious monster and we aren’t trying to reason and analyze him. And now Kong has a gauntlet? Oy! Then the human characters are annoying and goofy. Godzilla Minus One really showed the way to make a monster movie with a small budget all the while telling a great human story. 🤦🏾♀️ Love it when you guys think a movie is just plain silly. 😂 “This little monkey” 😂😂 “red headed stepchild” 😂

The difference with this and Minus One is that Minus One is based around 1 monster which is Godzilla as the villian so you have to have an interesting human story to carry the movie. Once you make Godzilla a hero or a monster that fights other monsters he then becomes the star and the focus and the human story becomes obsolete. With a movie like Godzilla X Kong those 2 are the stars if they had tried to make a deeper more serious human story the audience wouldn't have given a shit lol. They would have found it boring and dull and complained about being bored by boring human drama and wanting more Godzilla Kong action. That's why this movie is doing so well at the box office worldwide because when Godzilla and Kong are the heros the audience wants to see Godzilla and Kong bust stuff up they don't care about the humans anymore lol.
Scar king’s body shape reminded me of a power ranger but covered with fur.

I'm just in it for Mothra. Love her. All the human characters become more insufferable, and the films convoluted as they go on. Not Kong with the dental issues 😂 These icons deserve better. Thank you both as usual. 🦍🦖🦋

The movie was fun. I dont need too much from a godzilla film. Its supposed to be cheesy. Godzilla used to fight giant crabs and roaches and moneky aliens back in the day so this is just the showa era with cgi

This movie (that I quite enjoyed) proved that these movies only need a couple human characters. Kong and the rest of these Monsters can carry a movie. The deaf kid and her mom can stay but everyone else can go.

This movie had a "Stranger Things" soundtrack; a new wave, "Planet of the Apes" plot; and a "Lord of the Rings " Smeagol looking monkey...
I would have personally liked another installment with just Kong (I liked "Skull Island").
And some of this "intensity" could have gone into the "Monarch..." series.
Also, I'm not a fan of Godzilla. So destructive, for why?!

Last night on the theater with all the jumping around I said to my brothers what’s even happening and then there were just unnecessary subplots and by the end the fun part I should have loved I said this would be great if the rest of it wasn’t so boring outside Kong vs apes buy everything else meh
As I was watching this movie I kept thinking about my exit strategy almost midway through. I really didn’t feel like waddling my way past the people in my row but I did. I couldn’t take the agony. Movie is trash

Yeah that it made sense in Ghostbusters cause of the Empire State but here Empire is used just as a misleading marketing tool 😢
I thought the movie was overall a really good fun time. I liked Godzilla vs Kong more as it felt more even qith the Kong and Godzilla story. This was pretty much a Kong movie with Godzilla as a supporting character. I was still bored with the human characters but I didn't hate them they were entertaining enough. The stars are Kong and Godzilla and they were treated well and the action scenes were great. Overall for me this was a really good fun popcorn monster mash movie that accomplished to me what it was trying to do.
This movie had the dumbest and most underdeveloped charecters of literally any movie I can remember watching. There was the scientist chick. Whose only charecter trait is being a scientist, apparently. And we are told that she is smart because she has two PHDs, even though everything she says is stupid. Then there is the "wild qwirky" veteranarian or whatever, who we are told at the beginning of the film is wild and qwirky, even though he is one of the most boring charecters ever put to film. Then there is the kid, who is mute and who just sulks around for the whole movie, and thats it.
The whole thing was mind nubbing.

This should have been a kong movie only to defeat the scar king and save his people. Godzilla should have never been in this movie. That freezer lizard was thrown in there for no reason, only for godzilla to fight someone.
