This felt like a Neil deGrasse Tyson review
Fair...but Kong uses a baby as a weapon so I'm afraid all other criticisms are invalid
Or it's the best of the series so far 😊. At least I can't think of anything that I wanted differently in it.
Because it sounds like “Godzilla, ex-con”.
I expected, literally nothing from this movie. I actually thought it was a really fun movie. Maybe, it's because I didn't expect much. I loved all the monster stuff. Very little human stuff. Basic fun elements with crazy scenarios but with dumb but plausible theories on it. This is a big cartoon and I didn't mind it. I wasn't looking for Godzill Minus Zero, and I didn't get that. What I got was some pretty cool creatures and characters, including Dan Stevens as Ace Ventura of the Monsterverse, equipped with his own 80's soundtrack! I don't know. I didn't expect much, but had a great time watching lots of fun battles and creatures. Plus! Surprises that were not given away in the trailer! Finally!!
The title is like Twitter - we don’t say the ‘X’
"Don't refer to them as 'monkeys', it's impolite." -David Chen.
I wasn’t expecting the finest cinema from this, but I definitely think it was a step backward from GvK. I think it’s difficult to appreciate any stakes for the titans, and certainly none from the humans. Also, is it my imagination that things are just becoming way more “magical” without any sort of grounding in the established reality? Things are just getting piled on and made up without much throughline from what came before.
That why Godzilla x kind made 200 mill fist week and Japanese Godzilla made how much?
Also, I don't really know if we want Godzilla as Earth's protector, where he needs to be careful around humans. Clearly, he doesn't give a Sh*t! LOL
More like Godzilla minus FUN! AMIRIGHT!?!
so accurate!!!
The title is pronounced "Godzilla MULTIPLIED BY Kong."
Had a great time with the movie, just a whole bunch of colorful, dumb fun, lighten up boys.
I have been disappointed by every movie in this Monster-verse except for Kong Skull Island, which I loved. But I didn't hate this movie! I didn't love it, but I thought it was very okay. Like Jeff, I longed for a flipping of the human to monster ratio, and was happy that we got it this time. The human stuff was only a fraction of the excruciatingly dull human stuff from previous movies. The monster stuff was pretty dumb, but I guess because I hadn't had to sit through thirty minutes of pointless human plot, it actually felt refreshing.
But the biggest reason why I think I didn't hate this movie is because of how much I loved Godzilla Minus One. THAT was the Godzilla movie we all were wanting, we just didn't know how much we wanted it and how much we'd love it. It was my favorite movie from 2023. But I think because that gave me what I truly wanted out of a Godzilla movie, that I went into this movie no longer expecting or even hoping for great Godzilla stuff. I was happy with just giant monsters fighting each other. And what probably is most responsible for whatever good feelings came from this movie is all that time we spent with Kong at the beginning of the movie. Kong is just a dude trying to make it through his day. He just wants to grab a snack, or make it home so he can relax, but no, he's got to deal with stupid monsters trying to kill him, or being covered with green monster guts. We've all been there. There was enough Kong in this movie to balance out all the non-Kong stuff.
At the end of the day, what kept me marginally entertained was that I could see the way forward, and how the bones of really fun Monster-verse movies are there. It just takes someone with the right idea and execution to make it as fun as it can be.
This is accurate review
there's a difference between "well done" and "fun". i think a lot of people enjoy double bubble bubble gum over gourmet meals. i'll be watching this for a romp. i almost literally cannot be disappointed going into this movie because i'm not looking for dune. verisimilitude is not a worry; my brain will be switched off, and i'll be happy paying for employees at the theaters.
Needed like a tinderbox or a banana for scale.
Wrong! The movie was nuts(in a great way).
Am I the only one who thinks Dan Stevens should be an A Lister?
WOW. This was mindless fun. Shut the brain off and enjoy the visuals. The plot was simple but the pace was fantastic. I wasn't bored at all. I do respect everyones opinion.
In my 50 yrs watching Kaiju films the truth is 95% of the Toho films were hot garbage regarding the plot. The monster fights were fun.
05 King Kong and Godzilla Minus One are remakes of the films that made these 2 Icons. You can't compare this universe to those 2 particular films. They tried w/ KOTM and the film flopped. They pivoted with a new direction and now it's more popular. The goal is to bring and satisfy many generations coming together. I saw 60 yr olds and 11 yr olds enjoying a film together.
What makes this movie so popular is because we have the ONLY 2 Cinema Icons of an entire genre together. I thought we would never see a crossover film between King Kong & Godzilla ever again. Maybe I feel so grateful to witness this new golden age.
I thought Kong would stay in remake hell forever and now it seems order has been restored regarding the original who inspired this whole genre.
This movie is some much fun. What’s wrong with you guys? The A- CinemaScore and 80M opening weekend proves audiences loved it.
They're old and we're probably expecting some kind of story in a movie about 2 giants fighting
Just saw this movie, I fell asleep halfway through. It was dumb fun and then it became dumber and dumber.
My dudes, please find your inner child and give them a hug. This movie is objectively terrible but it’s literally monsters smashing into each other, not Citizen Kane.
The movie is LEGENDARY for the thanks NOT WB
Spot on, gentlemen, this is the worst offering from the Monsterverse yet. It makes Godzilla vs. Kong look like Godfather 2. The only 2024 movie more hyped than G x K is Dune, Part 2, another brainless dumpster fire, IMO.
I realized this movie is a Adam Wingard-Dan Stevens reunion
