The most absurd fact about this movie is no sane person gets a pool in Minnesota.
I live in Minnesota and we had a pool. It's actually quite common, just drain them a bit and close em down for the winter.
It's actually less common to see pools in Texas, despite the heat, because the ground is too hard to dig for a pool.
I have to go see this movie because of a date. Yes, our first date is watching this film let that sink in 😂 whether he likes it or not though, we’re still listening to this spoiler review on the way home from the theater 😉

Just saw it I liked it better. 3.25 out of 5. I liked his sacrifice at the end. And actually the girl in the pool showed the mom she was swimming downward, saving her and her son. I really like that part. I had a good time seeing this.
All my friends that have pools have talked me out of investing in getting one. Here’s another reason. I don’t want to die.
You should read about haunted pools in the old houses in hollywood owned by those from the golden age. Elvira sold one to Brad Pitt the he couldn't get rid of for some time!
The thing I love about these reviews is that I still have no idea what the plot of the movie is, so even though these are supposed to be spoiler reviews, I can still watch the movies and be surprised. 😊

This plot when I had seen the movie preview is reminiscent of the "Are You Afraid of the Dark?" episode with an invisible creature in a closed swimming pool, which scared me so much as a child. That episode was legit traumatizing. Scariest thing I had ever seen up until that point at age 7 😂
It reminds me of Burnt Offerings, esp that scene where Oliver Reed attacks his son in the pool and the family descends into madness. Great review as usual and the pronunciation of the word 'wohman'. 😆

Any DnD fan could tell a Sea Hag must've been haunting the water source offering wishes for a price.. specifically taking children in return for your hearts desires, but remaining to haunt the one making the deal, well after the exchange is made.
I swear I get more enjoyment watching you guys critique & spoil BAD HORROR movies than I'd receive simply watching these train wrecks myself. Honestly, this channel is a public service. I get all the benefits (eg. entertainment) of "watching" bad movies without suffering any of the ills (eg.. loss of time & braincells). Thx guys!
I liked this movie, particularly in how it treats the subject of trauma, longing, and guilt. Each member of the family is tested in some way and ends up fighting back with the father making the ultimate sacrifice. For someone who had to give up on a lifelong dream, the message of finding new meaning when life deals you a curveball (pun intended) is particularly resonant. I liked how we saw the longing and guilt of the children and how that ties into the premise of the pool both giving and taking away. The son longs to connect to his father and the daughter longs to be with a boy, but both still feel emotionally unfulfilled once they get a taste of that experience. The mother pleads with her daughter to be more responsible for taking care of her brother, due to her own parental insecurity but in the end, risks her own life to save her son.
I think a lot of people will end up being disappointed when they find out that this isn't a creature feature or a movie with a high body count. On the other hand, I think this movie will be rewarding for those who appreciate character building, slow building tension, and a mystery which gradually unravels.
WHEN THE WIFE WAS IN THE POOL AT NIGHT ALONE, AND THE LIGHTS WERE FLICKERING IN THE POOL… THERE WAS A SHOT OF THE POOL W THE HOUSE BEHIND IT, AND YOU CAN SEE A SHADOW FIGURE WALKING IN FRONT OF THE LIT UP WINDOWS… ANYONE ELSE SEE THAT.
So why can't they just get rid of the pool????
Lets be honest this movie is nothing but a carbon copy of "Are You Afraid of the Darks" "Tale of the Dead Mans Float"

I was thinking this was going to be a reimagining of Stephen King's Needful Things where the entity would feed off of peoples greed and the sacrifices would be more subtle. Very disappointing....
The movie in which the bread fail jelly side up is called " Devil".
It's available now for streaming on Peacock and I must say I'm so glad I didn't see this travesty on the big screen. I laughed so much especially the part when dad almost drowned his #1 fan in the pool and the so called monster wasn't scary at all. Terrible misleading title and premise. Thx for the review! I saw it last night, glad I didn’t pay money to see it. It was ok, something was lacking, it wasn’t scary enough.

The higher the ask, the higher the price. I doubt the malignant entity believes life begins at conception. I think it's a Sea Hag, so they usually require something that means a lot to you in exchange for a wish granted.

The movie was kind of dry but I was concerned about the family though
I was surprised to see that Goldie Hawn & Kurt Russel's son was in this, thought he was still a hockey player. Was just reading a book on the Satanic Marine Kingdom, so symbology in this made sense from the book, never throw a coin into a fountain or pool, or you open up a demonic portal. I see where they were going with this, but the script needed a little work. It was just ok.
