Awesome video man. You've made the parallels between both these amazing games so abundantly clear, even more so that I realized myself. With skyward sword, Aonuma and Fuji were both regretful their true vision of skyward sword couldn't be brought to fruition due to hardware limitations.
I hope they feel this game allowed them to truly actualize that.
To answer your description, the two tracks used were respectively:
    - (Totk) The ending theme after "The Last Catch" and prior to the game's credits
    - (SS) The credits
    That about right?

@@CrazyHand196 While the original version of Skyward Sword was ruined for me by the awful controls...that was really the only issue I had with it. The dungeons, story, and music, were the best in the series up to that point. When Skyward Sword HD came out and it became possible to play it with standard controls, it became my favorite Zelda (the original version held back severely by its controls as I said).
Now, today, SS is my second favorite Zelda, as TOTK has surpassed it. But yeah it's definitely a high point in the series. There are a lot of musical references to Skyward Sword as well. Fi's theme is used a few times (albeit not in the full glory of the Skyward Sword version). One of the silent realm themes is used when you're exploring the underground Zora ruins.

@@StormsparkPegasus Sounds like we share sentiments with both games! I actually didn't mind the controls in the original version, but SS still stuck with me as one of the 1st Zelda games I played / finished.
I do feel Totk has proven to be a worthy successor and a lot of it is due to a mixture of the gameplay as well as the evolution of the character that is Zelda. Always overjoyed to see references to FI and overall themes.
Hope we can continue on this path. Totk alone has already sold than the majority of the series combined (excluding Botw of course).

Absolutely agree that Link’s love for Zelda, be it platonic or romantic, is so deep and true that it becomes a channel for Rauru and Sonia’s power, enabling those three to bring Zelda back to her human form. A beautiful parallel to Zelda’s love for Link awakening her dormant power in BOTW.

I think SS was picked for a remaster specifically to help you understand TotK link. He has growth too, but shying from forcing that on you with dialogue like previous games, and knowing this established stoic link was unable to express himself visually like WW, they had to use the game experience itself to tell a story through the context of the game's actions.
Now if you are not a terribly observant person, or if you are used to media that holds your hand, it might be hard to see what is happening and you'll eventually start making ridiculous youtube videos about how abysmal the story in TotK is...Sadly, Nintendo's fix for that was to release a game these people hated more than anything before botw to give you a reference for link to play off of...that said, I'm glad they did because It worked wonderfully for those of us that werent desperate to hate the game for not being our headcanon.

I don't think it's a retelling, but what is clear is that it rhymes perfectly with Skyward Sword. I am 1000% convinced TOTK follows SS in the same timeline. There are just too many parallels. 1 huge thing that links them for me is the entire Lanayru Mining place. Everything there is from an ancient time, with magic time stones, and those robots are 100% Zonai constructs. The games were 100% made to rhyme and show love to each other. Interestingly, TOTK also rhymes perfectly with OoT. Commenwealth, I think, made a great video about it. Also, the Spring of Power in BOTW/TOTK just fuckin IS the Skyview Spring, it just IS. Absolutely everything about it is there, from the dragon braziers to the same pattern of cracked ceiling, to the waterfalls. No one can convince me otherwise.
Edit: fuuuuuuckin wow! I never noticed Fi's theme in TOTK. Fi's theme is EASILY one of my all-time favorite tracks from the entire LoZ franchise. Shit is just beautiful.

Well to be fair can't hylia/Zelda make as many time splits as wants as long as it doesn't undo any sealings on Gannon? I meant oot made 3 timeline splits because one was a cannon what if situation which was Gannon kills hero. Then you gotta figure anybody with the spirit of the hero is new hero so.... I get feeling Zelda is hylia incarnated not reincarnated. Hero is more like possessed and Gannon and all that use rule of demons and yet it seems all Zelda are a lineage, her bloodline but on moms side, or skip a few generation. In both games, Link is chasing Zelda in an effort to reunite with her, to protect her, as her appointed person. In both games, the nature of why she’s always just out of reach is obscured until further lore/story progression reveals truths. In my first playthrough of SS, I fully thought past!Impa was a bad guy abducting Zelda away from Link at every step, rather than the same kindly old person by The Imprisoned. The themes of cycles, the Ouroboros, are in both - once SS Link reaches the surface, it isn’t long before he meets old!Impa, and then sees past!Impa, and it has to be put together through the narrative to see them as the same entity in different points in time. Same thing with TOTK - as soon as the sword travels back in time, Light Dragon!Zelda breaks the cloud barrier in the cutscene, but without prior knowledge, it isn’t until you get into the memories and retrieve the sword that you can fully connect that the LD!Zelda is the same Zelda from BOTW and the start of the game, just at a different point in time.

my favorite thing about both games is the way they use music to invoke nostalgia (both for the players sake and for links, especially). during one of the memories (when we see totk zelda receive the master sword and is speaking to it -- and fi -- directly), we can hear fi's theme twain itself in the music. memory can be a powerful thing, and the way both games preserve it through musicality gives players an emotional reaction outright, especially those like myself who have played and loved these games for years. you can also see this in how we hear zelda's theme throughout both games, especially when we hear it distort when she turns into the light dragon and even at the end of the game.

Skyward Sword was my first traditional Zelda game, and I absolutely adore it. Just like all Zelda games, the player plays as Link, meaning YOU are Link. So I can say I myself went on the quest to save Zelda and I myself tempered the goddess sword into the Master Sword, and to watch Ganondorf shatter MY BLADE lit a raging fire in me that fueled me to take him out. I was determined to cut that man down with the very blade he shattered. I did not fight him just for Zelda, I did not fight him because he killed Sonia, I did not fight him because he plunged Hyrule back into darkness, *I fought and killed him out of a retribution fueled by an ever-constantly growing righteous fury for what he did to my first companion, Fi.*
I truly believe that whichever Zelda game you first played where you had a companion, you develop a bond with that companion that no other Zelda companion could replicate nor replace. People were upset with how much Fi talked, I was just glad to have someone TO TALK TO, to remind me that I was not alone in the fight. I’ll admit it with no shame that I bawled like a baby at Fi’s Farewell, and it still brings me to tears every time I replay the game. To hear Fi say she has never known what human emotion is, but at the end is where she first feels a feeling she believes is happiness, and she says “Thank you, Master” and goes to sleep, that left a scar that will never heal. Sure, you can pick up the Master Sword in some of the other games, but you will never have as special connection to the sword as you did in Skyward Sword.
In both Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom, I ignored the main quest of the four regions until I got the Master Sword back, until I got Fi back. I wanted to fight and destroy Ganon and his minions with Fi at my side, just like in Skyward Sword, to go on the main quests and side quests with her at my side. I wanted to replicate the relationship I had with her in Skyward Sword and have that same thrill ride and experience with her in Tears of the Kingdom. One of the most beautiful things about Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom is the Master Sword chimes and powers up when you’re in significantly threatening situations. I see it as a reminder of her still being there, her reminding me I’m not alone, providing me with backup and the strength to finish the fight.
So hearing Fi’s familiar chime when Link draws the Master Sword in the presence of Ganondorf before the fight, it felt just like old times. One last adventure, one last fight, and to hear that special chime again right before Link plunges the Master Sword into the crystal on Ganon’s head and shatters the crystal gave me goosebumps that I will never forget. Thank you, Fi, for one last thrill ride.
Sorry for the rant, I really just wanted to share my thoughts and feelings.

Both Inscryptions tell the story about the Zora Princess Ruto who helped the Princess and the Hero of that era to defeat a Wicked man (Ganondorf with other words - and no, just Because there is another Ganondorf in totk, this also doesnt mean it retcons the Timeline, he was once reborn between Twilight Princess ans Four Swords Adventures, so why shouldnt he di it another time?)

I'd argue, like what you hinted at, that TotK is the timeline going full circle. Which is why the logo has what looks to be a dragon version of an ouroboros behind it. It's been a millenia since the curse was cast by the original Demon King; Demise. BotW happened because the seal degraded enough for a part of the hatred and evil to form. When that too failed I'd say the balance of the universe itself needed Ganondorf to be unsealed so the cycle can be renewed.
I'm still not sure where the Hylia statues come into play as that suggests either she was reborn into immortality again or the three Golden Goddesses are pretending to be just the one. For whatever reason.

So, the first Zelda game i beat was BOTW. I absolutely loved it. I am probably half way through TOTK and I have found myself getting bored. So, I started a play through of skyward sword and already i have noticed similarities, between that game and TOTK. The biggest thing for me is that Link and Zelda have so much more chemistry in that game vs BOTW & TOTK. Which makes me kind of sad. These two are always shipped together but we see very little of their affection towards each other. Their relationship feels cold and sterile, almost like an abusive unhealthy relationship. Skyward Sword shows a much healthier dynamic between the two, and I wish we could have more of that.

Yes Ganondorf is the reincarnation of Demise. It’s hard to tell whether that is true for TOTK Ganondorf because we’re unsure if both games are even on the same timeline. As far as I know, the only reincarnation of Hylia is SS Zelda, and all the other Zeldas carry the blood of the goddess as her descendants. Link typically carries the spirit of the hero. So we pretty much see this representation of the Triforce in almost every game (power, wisdom, courage).

I know this is just a wall of text and some of it wont make sense but its what i think is the only plausible way that all these locations could be in a single timeline while also not contradicting the original establishment of hyrule.
I have a very far fetch theory that totk takes place in the fallen timeline. By the time of the last game in the timeline (legend of zelda 2 adventure of link) the entire kingdom had collapsed. This could mean that the kingdom had to rebuild a new kingdom (lets go with new hyrule for the name of the kingdom). This could be how rauru was stated to be the first king of hyrule despite we know from skyward sword that he wasn't.
Everything ive said now sounds reasonable right now but heres where it starts to get weird. They stated that it has been 10,000 year since the fight against calamity ganon and yet zonai were said to of exist far before even then which means the sealing of ganon could of been hundredss of thousands of year before. With this much time the laws of plausibility state that every thing that has happened in the other timelines may of happened in this one escept any place ganon is, calamity ganon takes it place.
The world of could been drowned by gods for a few thousand years and then the water could of recede revealing the land of new hyrule (hell the great sea could of been just the east side of hyrule and the land used in spirit tracks could of been the giant cliff found on the west side and they simple moved back into hyrule).
Arbiter's ground could exist for similar reasons. The sages get the idea if instead of sealing the calamity for a few thousand years they would send it to the twilight realm so he could come back but the calamity being smart manipulate the people there to take over hyrule.
Obviously some changes would have to be made such as only some of the zora had become rito and that the gerudo not being banished.

I would not call it a retelling, more like they were just taking another crack at the game they wanted to make instead of sws, when they made skyward sword they had in mind basically breath of the wild, sort of kinda, and when they did breath of the wild they had the concept of game they wanted understanding this was just a new game, no direct relation to "hallway sword", people hated it , so for totk with botw being a mega success they (and here's where I have literally no clue of what I'm talking about) decided to do the vision of the game that they had back in the day without erasing what they made, sky islands like in Skyward, the mobility system skyward tried to do, tripped over with and botw fixed, the opennes of breath of the wild and the story elements that they wanted for that original game that never was fully realized but all of those thing expanded and tweaked and whatnot to make this not a "skyward sword: the director's cut" type game because a lot of people enjoyed it for the stuff they did the story wise and they respect that to not just supplant it with a rewrite that makes the game still feel like its own game rather than "this was the story we meant to tell all along but we failed"

I thought tears of kingdom or breath of wild wasnt the first hyrule because people did exist when zonai did. Im aware in skyward sword all survivors of war were moved to sky. But i still got doubts new games are prequels. I just see it as characters filling role slots. Only heres issue. In skyward sword in beginning it has story of goddess and hero. And zelda was at first playing goddess when she gave link the sail cloth. However in skyward sword this is the link that impa yells at for being slow to save zelda. In future games impa tolerates or even respects him more. So its not all same people or we will say incarnations. Then theres issue of demise cursing them at end of skyward sword. Yes there were demons and girihim wanted to resurrect his master so im assuming that was demise after first war. So theres no proof demise was sealed at that time. For all we know everybody was more human and legend gave them godlike ability because lets assume demise died temporarily, ok demons die. Theres only 4 goddesses ever so the rest must be mortal or killable. And assuming demises curse at end of ss sets serries in motion then that cycle is his fault

I want to know how the stories of Botw and Totk fall into line though. Being that only a very short time span happened between the two and their stories and lore about Ganondorf is completely different from one another. In Botw Ganondorf was shown in a memory alive and well speaking to the King/Zelda's father in Hyrule Castle, asking for he and his people to be allowed into the Kingdom. Yet in Totk there is a plaque in a stairwell under the castle claiming that the castle was built for the sole purpose of sealing the demon king/Ganondorf beneath it. If he was sealed beneath the castle all this time, how was he an active King or ruler of these Gerudo people during the same period Zelda's father was the King of Hyrule while in the same castle he was supposedly sealed under?

Personally, I like to think that the only real Hyrule is the BOTW / Tears world, and all the other games are simply stories of previous legends and heroes, things that BOTW / Tears child Link would've listened to (being a knight's son). And all the items and gear are simply like cosplay, this is the tunic of Twilight Hero, and this other tunic is the costume of the Hero of Time! And like all legends, they have grains of truth, which is why there small details hidden everywhere. There was only one Link, though, but I like the idea that Link a imagined himself in the roles of these previous heroes while he as listening to them as a child (because I always imagined myself as the hero as a kid). So, Skyward Sword Link was a completely different person from Link, but he was the hero that made the master sword (thus the legend), so Link as a boy imagine himself in that story making that sword. In other words, all the previous games were stories that were told to Link as a child, and now that those stories have been told, Link is now an adult and is now becoming a hero himself.
And I like when you said that Link didn't set out to kill the demon king and that he was looking for Zelda, because this "real life" and not a legend that Link heard as a child. Because looking for Zelda would be the real life human thing to do.

Doesn't track at all. TotK is a seriously inconsistent story written in broad strokes that make very little real world sense, so it should be among the myths jsut as a much, there's no elevation from it to be "more" real . And for the author these are just storeis they don't take very sriously to tell AS stories, just a series of highly evocative events adn tropes. If you go there, Link is just a nutcase in a straightjacket dreaming this whole thing up ESPECAILLY since he sees himself as "the hero" like anyone who isn't grounded in reality and humbleness. His WILL just commands Gods randomly like giving Sonia and Rarur the power to make the dragonification problem go away. That's a pitiful story. That's what Zelda would tell Ganondorf at the end of OoT.
My theory of OoT is that Zelda in fact sealed away Link into his Child Timeline just as much as he did Ganondorf. That's a direct parallel to elves and Frodo leaving Middle-Earth, and that's why the ending is so somber. It all ahs to do how this time travel mechanic is presented. It works like back to the Future or Looper where TIME IS A FUNCTION OF MATTER, and there ARE changes like "meanwhile, in the past" that affect present when you do time travel IN the present.
Previous timelines are not DIVERGENT from altered reality and go on forever "in a timeline", when somebody randomly splits it into two. Rather the time TRAVEL is like lifting a pendulum, and as it falls BACK towards THIS timeline, it will start converging with and affecting it. It's not like a rocket ship leaving to another planet, it's like lifting a moon that starts falling back INTO this planet. That's why prophesy even works, because it's the FUTURE already making CHANGES in the reality WE ARE NOW playing: our timeline is being erased in the favor of converging with the one THE FUTURE is attempting to correct. That's why it couldn't be in-universe fiction OR a distant past. These "different times" are THE THING that runs parallel, all the time. And when the gods leave one timeline, the rift that is left in their wake is the Triforce. The door of time that can bring INFINITE influence, form another timeline, not jsut echoes of this timeline's ancient past. Otherwise you have to assume a million little things as "just magic" and fantasy rules based on nothing, no Tolkien and Rankin-Bass The Flight of Dargons, just nintendo making this up randomly without being influenced by anything.

Damn I guess I can see where you’re coming from but man I can’t agree. If you’re talking exclusively about gameplay, then I get it cuz the two games have almost opposite approaches when it comes to that. And TOTK’s dungeons may not be the best but there were still quite a few moments in the game that got me happy/excited. The first jump into the sky as the camera pans around, the beautiful shot of the golden sky while obtaining the master sword, an epicly orchestrated dragon roost island theme playing during the wind temple boss fight, seeing the characters from BOTW actually develop and interact with each other more, and the last scene where the game makes you dive down to catch zelda. There was plenty of magic in this game for me. Wouldn’t say it has a better story than SS cuz it’s not really supposed to, but the game certainly made me feel emotional during several parts of the game.
