Remember that in the five years between BOTW and TOTK, Zelda was living her life for the first time ever. During that time, she gained a true appreciation for Hyrule, its cultures, peoples, history, and wildlife. She set up a research team and established a school in Hateno where she taught children (to one of whom she became a sort of surrogate mother). She loved her kingdom, and her people grew to love her in return. And that's why the final memory is so devastating. Zelda gave up her very existence to save the kingdom she had grown to love so much. And she had complete faith in Link to finish the job.
Beautifully written, great point. 🙏 I think the fact that she struggled so much during the first game made it even harder, too...
One of the things I really love about these memories is how Rauru and Sonia are the parents Zelda never had, what with her mother dying when she was very young and her Father being well…you know.
And it makes Rauru’s sacrifice all the more gif-wrenching, because it echoes Zelda’s sacrifice in Breath of the Wild when she went to face Ganon herself and seal him away to gain more time for Link. (Or is it that Zelda’s sacrifice echoes Rauru’s? Time travel is strange.)
Time travel stuff always confuses my tiny brain. You're absolutely right, that's a great way of looking at things. 🙏
My theory is that cuz Zelda can't be human and dragon at the same time, she ended up still in a different timeline.
So basically the sacrifice she made in BotW, that was THAT timeline's Zelda, until the original timeline's Zelda got taken away to go do the time travel thingy that she has to do.
So it ends with instead of OG Zelda, in her timeline, she gets stuck in a new timeline with no way of going back, and never knowing that she isn't in the correct timeline.
Don't understand?
Cuz I can't explain further.
TLDR:
Zelda will never be in her original timeline ever.
I loved Raru and Sonia. That scene almost made me cry. You could feel the rage and sorrow from him. 🥺
Awesome arc for such a usually calm character! 🙏
What makes this Zelda awesome is the fact out of any others there, she done something and helped Link save the day, even as a mindless dragon
The fact Link still saved Hyrule and defeat Ganondorf, it was Zelda who set all that up and guide Link to victory. In other words: He wouldn't done all of it without her
Absolutely! ♥️ In other games - like Wind Waker - she always helps out at the last minute.
TOTK wouldn't be possible without her. GG, Zelda! 🙏
Shiek.
way before this I was wondering how did the sword end up in that dragons head.. now i know how it for there and who that dragon is..💔😭
I left the final cutscene with tears in my eyes...😢 Dude, did you find the sword before the cutscenes!? How?
@@HeroVibes i didn’t find it I just came across a video that had the dragon and the sword in the thumbnail so I was like “wait whaaaat” but I didn’t watch it so I didn’t know it was actually Zelda until your video.. thank you for the video but it’s sad honestly 😭😭💔
@@HeroVibesI walked to the deku tree he gave me a becon on the dragon for the sword.
@@HeroVibesI found the sword before the final cutscenes, I had done some of the cutscenes, but had not finished! I was about halfway, I had found and pieced enough together that I had already started wondering if she had gone through with the draconification ritual, but I wasn't sure yet. I just figured the Master Sword would be where it was in BOTW tbh so I went and freed the Deku Tree (even though I did notice that the sword was not in its pedestal when I got to Korok Forest but I still wanted to free him anyway lol) and then he showed me on the map where it was and as soon as I saw it moving, I knew. I knew she was a dragon and that she had the Master Sword. So I went and pulled it and I had exactly enough stamina thank god 😅 But yeah, it is possible to do it before finding the final dragon's tears! 🥺 I was freaking crying when I pulled that sword, AND when I watched the final dragon's tear cutscenes lol 😅 😢 Poor Zelda 😢 And the Silent Princesses around the final one broke me 😢 What a game, man! 🥺🩷🩷🩷
Nobody is acknowledging this;
Sonia's description on the secret to using the time power "The Secret is to think of it like drawing out the objects memory" is identical to how we are even witnessing these events, Zeldas time power in Link drew out the memories hidden within the Dragon Tears
That's a really interesting perspective... Damn, this game has so many layers to the story.
Gannondorf after committing regicide: lol
Bro had the best laugh though. 😂😅
i really really appreciate having this vid. i just finished the game and needed my questions answered asap 💔 ty for this
Makes me cry. It's so sad
I may have shed a tear, too... 😢
I have just realized that raru’s Zonai earring things are partially floating
He's just just showing off at this point... 😏
Thank you so much i wanted to watch them but i was doing other things in the game thank you
You're more than welcome - enjoy the game! 😁

I wonder how Zelda didnt clock it was Ganon.
If she already is in a time she isnt aupposed to be in, she already changed the outcome.
She could have said something.
Ganon got the plot armour tho... 😅
The final scene is so heartbreaking I swear💔 I can't watch it without tearing up
Edit: I did kinda know before. because of what Mineru said, and I did see the light dragon around in videos when looking for the Madter Sword, but it still broke my heart
As a nearly-30 year old man, I'm happy to say the final tear made me shed a few tears. 🙏 Honestly, such a beautiful story.
@@HeroVibes agreed
In the final dragons tear, I almost cried when she swallowed the secret stone and Zelda’s lullaby played. My favorite memory. Though I do think they could’ve come up with better words than “Protect them all!”
I disagree. I think those words sum up Zelda's motivations perfectly. She's trading her humanity to save all of the people of her kingdom.
Ok almost everyone is talking about the last scene and there right but am I the only one who thought zelda was going to hit the her pupet cone with the knife
I thought that too! 😂👊🏻
Ganon!!!!
if this is the case, that means the cycle ends, and this would be it? this would be sad
I've pretty much given up trying to understand the timeline at this point, there's so many inconsistencies. 😂 Really begs a lot of questions if that is the case though, I wonder where they'll go from here...
The way it works is that in skyward sword a demon named Demise cast a curse on the first link and Zelda, trapping them in a endless cycle of reincarnation to fight incarnations of his endless hate over and over again for all eternity, eventually a new gannondorf will be reborn along with a new Link and Zelda
No subtitles plssssss
They're forced, I'm afraid 🥺 There's no way to turn them off in the game. Ruined my day. 😂
Subtitles are a good thing! I struggle to hear speech and they make this accessible to me, and I love the story of this game.
