    I just realized that Zelda's whole life was just tragedy, she lost her mother, she lost Terrako, she lost her champion friends, she lost her father, she lost her childhood training to wake up her power and she failed several times, she almost lost Link, she lost 100 years of her life fighting to keep Hyrule safe, lost her second foster family and turned into a dragon wandering for thousands of years in Hyrule watching (unconsciously) Hyrule rise and fall again

      I agree wholeheartedly! Ganondorf took everything from Rauru: his wife, his kingdom, and indirectly, his life. He remains true to his character (i.e., pretty calm and stoic) throughout the entire ordeal. But in that moment, with the knowledge that he was successfully sealing Ganondorf for ages and that even once Ganondorf eventually awoke, Link would be there to stop him, Rauru's "Remember...this name" line is like a big, proverbial middle finger to Ganondorf! And the music that plays during that moment is chillingly perfect!

    I think what's especially sweet is how much this is basically a do-over for Zelda, at least when it comes to her childhood. While shit might have gone to hell in the end, this is probably the first time that this Zelda's had a pair of loving and caring people as essentially her parental substitutes. Rauru, Sonia and Mineru don't pressure her into doing something she doesn't know how to do, they treat her with kindness and compassion and help her figure out how to use her powers, and any moments where they disagree (Mineru about the draconification thing), it's clearly out of worry and concern for what could happen to Zelda herself.

    So everyone calls the timeline into question here. But i personally think that hyrule has been destroyed and rebuilt so often over the course of history that Rauru and Sonia were simply the founders of this current iteration of Hyrule and its the beginning of its own history, they found the current hyrule, the imprisoning war occurs, Ganondorf is sealed, time passes, the war against Calamity Ganon occurs, the Sheika build the Divine beasts and ancient technology, they defeated Ganon at the time and 10,000 years later he awakens again and Breath of the Wild occurs, he gets beat and then Tears of the Kingdom happens

    • @annieandelsieofarendelle3294
      @annieandelsieofarendelle3294 Před rokem +73

      That does make sense given that in every timeline Hyrule was always on the brink especially Downfall so it makes sense that the original Kingdom of Hyrule had possibly been destroyed.

    • @Darksword-786

    • @BananaReidy
      @BananaReidy Před rokem +23

      Yeah hyrule been rebuilt many times but what Im seeing here is that this is the very first iteration of hyrule which take place before minish cape and after SS. There seems to be two imprisioning wars, one that takes place before minish cap where the 1st iteration of ganondorf after demise is sealed. The other imprisoning war is at the beginning of the downfall timeline where Ganon from Oot is sealed.

    • @_QWERTY__
      @_QWERTY__ Před rokem +25

      @BananaReidy there is a 3rd alternative. During Skyward sword, Demise is beaten twice, once in the present, once in the past, in such a way that both can not have been in the same timeline. So it stands to reason that there was a timeline split:
      The present (him getting crushed by a statue) is the timeline we are all familiar with.
      In the past, Demise is killed and captured within the master sword, meaning the hero of the skies would never have descended from skyloft at that time. In this Era, it seems like the Zonai were the first to reach and found Hyrule, with the Hylians coming much later.
      It is also worth noting they chose to release SSHD in the middle of them, and they non to subtly hinted that it was bc it related to the BOTW and TOTK. We thought it was part of the sky, but I always thought it's probably something to do with story

    I feel like a lot of people feel like this confuses the timeline, but remember. The events of the last sealing of ganon happened 10,100 years before botw. We in the real world really only have historical records of our civilizations about 5,000 years back and then everything gets a lot harder to figure out. It is fully possible hyrule fell and was founded again considering we have no clue how much time passed before the big war.

    After when Ganondorf killed Sonia and corrupted her Secret Stone and uses it to become the Demon King, despite him corrupting it, there is a sliver of light inside of it. It is possible that Ganondorf imprisoned Sonia’s spirit inside the Secret Stone so that she can be used as an additional power source. Which meant Sonia was imprisoned for eons just like Rauru and Zelda. And thrn when Link defeated the Demon Dragon and destroyed the sacred stone, that is why Sonia was able to appear to help Zelda to transform back into her Hylian form.

Sealed away to be forced as a power source for Ganondorf with her beloved who sacrificed himself, only but a mere reach from her… and then after countless eons… the seal weakened and broke… either due to reasons such as Calamity Ganon or Rauru's power expired…

      I still question how the Windwaker timeline converges into this....Hyrule was essentially sealed forever and an entirely new continent settled...you can make sense of the other branches, but I can't think of a scenerio that makes sense where BotW follows Spirit Tracks....not only is Hyrule essentially gone and abandoned, but the TotK Ganondorf is clearly a fresh Ganondorf, whereas Ganon/Ganondorf in the other games is canonically the same as Oot....so what, he was born as a Gerudo and became Ganon twice? Was he somehow killed permanently after WW/AoL/FSA and had to essentially reincarnate from scratch? Idk.... doesn't make sense.

Honestly if the intro to WW making it an OoT direct sequel didn't exist, it would make a lot of sense to converge the 3 timelines at the flood and make WW the first game of the unified timeline. Since the triforce is lost following WW this would explain why it's absent in BotW/TotK...since they like swapping up the timelines maybe they will do this one day...

    The previous lore about the master sword , Demise, darkness and light, and the god stuff about hylia are still probably very much canon, but somewhere someone somehow separated/combined all of the different timelines into what they are in Botw and Totk, to solve the mess that is the Zelda timeline.

    I always had a hunch that people were saying that “Ganondorf can be redeemed possibly, and he wasn’t always evil,” if that were the case, Zelda wouldn’t be what it is today. Remember, Ganondorf is a madman bent on power and the destruction of its world. He doesn’t care about his people nor does he care about the unity of the nations (This worlds union system that being the Gerudo, Zora, Gorons, Hylians, and Rito) he’s just an evil man that has one goal; to rule Hyrule with an iron fist and take the Triforce for his own. After all, Demise even stated that “his hatred never perishes, and those who share the blood of the goddess are bound to this curse.” Ganondorf is an incarnation of Demise, Zelda is an incarnation of Hylia and Link is an incarnation of the legendary hero of ancient times, that being Skyward Link. Just let the villains stay villains because if Ganondorf was redeemable, then it would be Two rulers comic from Tumblr all over again. And trust me, as much as it’s intriguing, it just doesn’t work. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it, right? It just doesn’t feel right without it.

    So this Ganondorf is the ORIGINAL Ganondorf, the direct following Demise? Meaning that he's been under the castle ever since this all happened. The Ganondorf in the other games was a 2nd one (since the OoT Ganondorf is the same one is WW and TP and other games that split from OoT).
    That makes his return more interesting, and explains why he's so much stronger than OoT Ganondorf. Strong enough that just his leaking residual power made Calamity!

    So guys. Ya'll think that this game is set after Skyward sword? By that I mean hundreds years after the events of that game. Then after this game this is where Ocarina of Time comes in and branches out. I honestly don't care cause the timeline is already messy. I do care what the fans think.

    • @davisbowe8668
      @davisbowe8668 Před rokem +7

      I see three different possibilities here. Either the memories for this game take place in between Skyward Sword and The Minish Cap, the entire storyline takes place thousands of years after The Adventure of Link in the Downfall Timeline, or this is simply a brand new timeline that features a new take on events that happened in the original timeline (such as the rise of Ganondorf and the Imprisoning War).
      The first possiblity could be possible as Sonia could very well be a descendent of SS Link and SS Zelda. At the end of SS, the word "Hyrule" is never actually mentioned so there's no evidence that Link and Zelda actually established the kingdom at that point; it was only implied. In fact, it's likely that Hyrule as a unified kingdom wasn't established until decades or even centuries later since it takes a long time to establish a new country (for reference, the US didn't become it's own country until almost 250 years after it was discovered by Europeans). The main issues here are the fact that Rauru and Sonia don't know about the Master Sword despite the fact that it should exist within the Sealed Temple. The other issue is of course, Ganondorf who, if he's the same Ganondorf who appears in OoT, should not exist at this point in time. It's possible that OoT Ganondorf is a descendent of TotK Ganondorf or even a reincarnation, but that opens up an entirely new can of worms.
      For the second possiblity, remember that Hyrule was basically abandoned at the end of the Downfall Timeline. The Hylians had moved north, the Gorons and Zora had migrated to distant lands, the Gerudo were nowhere to be found, and the Koroks/Kokiri had all but disappeared. It's possible that hundreds or even thousands years later, the Zonai discovered the remains of what used to be Hyrule and together with the descendants of the original Hylians, brought the land back to it's former glory, with the return of previous races as well as a new race in the Rito. Ganondorf could've been revived or even reincarnated at some point, though it would've been so far in the future that any trace of his previous attacks had been forgotten.
      And then of course, there is the third possiblity which is the one I'm leaning towards. Skyward Sword technically has two endings. One where Demise (as The Imprisoned) is crushed by the Sky Keep (and thus never has the chance to curse Hyrule) and a second ending where Link travels back a thousand years and defeats Demise (who does curse Hyrule) before being absorbed into the Master Sword. I think it's possible that BotW/TotK follow this new alternate timeline where the events of Skyward Sword never happen due to Demise's defeat after first being resurrected, the continued worship of Hylia happens due to her never reincarnating as Zelda, the Master Sword never gets created since it was never needed, the Zonai appearing and helping the surface dwellers (aka the ancient Hylians) establish Hyrule due to the fact that they were never sent into the sky, and of course the early rise of Ganondorf who is the product of Demise's curse (hence why his appearance is much more demonic in TotK compared to other appearances), which sets into motion the events of TotK's memories and eventually the events of BotW and TotK.

      @@davisbowe8668 My theory is that Sonia is another descendant of SS! Link and SS! Zelda however, by her time her family and kingdom had fallen to ruins and their legacy as kings and queens was long dead either by rebellion, civil war, or another great evil until the Zonai appeared from the heavens and found Sonia who one of the last people to hold the blood of the goddess. Having been sent by Hylia to put her family back into power, they helped Sonia to become the first queen of Hyrule in hundreds or even thousands of years and fell in love with Rauru which made him king of the new, expansive Hyrule.

      Me theory is that the Zonai became or are at least closely connected to the Piccori and are as such remembered in minish cap, The "Light power" isnt actually the triforce but the secret stone (hence zelda just randomly getting one out of nowhere it was something she always had) and the reason vaati becomes such a monster and loses himself in the games after minish cap is because he consumed some of the light power, and we all know what consuming a secret stone does to someone.
      Its probably horribly unsound with the actual lore its my theory.

    • @walphish8697

      I’m in that camp, too. Long after the Skyloftians came to live on the surface, establishing themselves there while Skyloft & the surrounding islands are colonized by the Zonai.
      I also believe that this Ganondorf & Calamity Ganon are two separate incarnations. This was the first Ganondorf, but Demise’s curse led to the incarnation to the OoT Ganondorf, the one we knew this whole time & eventually became Calamity Ganon. Being conscious these untold thousands of years, he lost his sense of self until he’s the mindless monster in BotW. Meanwhile, this Ganondorf wakes up down there eons later like it was a moment later.
      TLDR: I also believe the past was set after Skyward Sword, & I also believe there are 2 Ganondorfs: the one we’ve always known who became Calamity Ganon & this piece of work.
