“Remember…this name” that line gives me goosebumps. The raw determination and trust in rauru’s voice while saying that is amazing.
Rawest line ever. Gave me massive chills
I still get goosebumps hearing him say that, but also, that leitmotif of the original Zelda theme that plays. 😢
Me too!!😊❤🎉😅
@@randycook5452Raurus theme is the first 3 notes, and it finally prospering into that was just so awesome
Then Ganondorf wakes up and says to Link "Bro wtf this is what I've been hyping up to for 20,000+ years?"
“Remember this name”
Cut to present day link running around, naked and torturing Koroks.
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
The fact that Rauru CHECKMATES Ganondorf the SAME way Ganondorf killed Sonia was as poetic as it gets.
Absolutley incredible moment from every perspective, Ganon had it coming and Rauru played the BIG disrespect card.
It was the same way but from the front instead

@@johnnyscifiyour and Hydronite's comments sound weird... but that's probably just me

Ganondorf saying "Interesting, I look forward to meeting him" is literally the most badass thing ever, I'm so glad they decided to use voice acting from now on because text alone wouldnt've done that justice
Honestly I wish there was more. The VA do a really good job and bring the characters to life. I just want to hear more lines from them. There’s a lot less voiced dialogue than what I was expecting

I was straight up crying when THE theme played when Rauru name dropped Link...
Goddamn i love this franchise
Best franchise in gaming hands down
Same i lost it when he said remember this name and our anthem started playung
It’s so beautifully done
SAME 😭😭
The most epic theme in gaming of all time
Two things
1. This is probably one of the coolest scenes in the entire game. Rauru being chad and the music just makes it even better.
2. Man Rauru really placed his faith in a guy he never met. Considering that this scene occurs prior to Zelda receiving the Master Sword and if Zelda has told Rauru the full details of the events that took place beneath the Hyrule castle apart from the info we see her telling him in the memory. For Zelda at that moment Link is either dead or severely injured and the Master Sword is broken.
I think Zelda manages to convince Rauru of how much faith she actually has in Link and that’s why he’s able to place his own faith in him.
Not only one he’s never met but a person that will come tens of thousands of years after multiple reincarnations of the same person.he had the ultimate faith in link
It’s called faith Rauru may have never met Link but he believed in him when he could’ve just question his ability to beat the demon king

The theme when Link is named dropped is unreal. Like 25 years of playing these games and that theme still hits hard
Gorgeous moment
Facts. I got goosebumps all over
I love that Rauru was trying to be threating when he told Ganondorf to remember Link, but Ganondorf was pretty much ready all-in for a new challenger.
if I remember correctly, he did say something about wanting to fight strong opponents, hence why he wants to rule the land. So that type of mindset, his mindset, is law.
Ganondorf is like a Sayian xD
Ganondorf thrives so much off of fear that even his own fear drives him
I love that the other Ganandorfs took the sages one at a time but this one took all of them, plus a powered up Zelda, AND their king, all at once and the only way they could win was by pausing the battle until someone with enough natural talent and grind could fight him
When gameplay Link and cannonical lore Link both are accurate enough for the story.
+ a roided out Master Sword capable of straight up repelling Gloom and Malice as opposed to just standing up to it
I think zeldas sealing magic was still weakened after her 100 years with the calamity. She only used time magic here
Brotha knows what the grindset does
😭😭😭

That cracking sound when rauru first hits ganondorf really shows the power behind this move

My favorite thing about this is that when ganondorf says “you bind my heart” that’s not some flashy mystic talk/metaphor, rauru LITERALLY has his grip on ganondorfs heart. Like he straight pierced into his chest and has his fingers wrapped around ganons heart.
This moment cemented this game for me as an incredible masterpiece
Yeah I knew we were playing with the big bois at this moment
Zelda music goes brrrrrr "claps hands"
What an INCREDIBLE scene... I'm late but just got it it
What a masterpiece. When you sit back and watch all the memories together... damn!

Ganondorf last setences were him literally saying "bet" to Rauru talking about Link being able to beat him xD
This is by far my favorite cutscene in the entire game. Maybe one of my favorite moments in the entire franchise. This scene is so epic and ganondorf being so calm as he expresses his interest in meeting link is such a powerful moment.
I watched this multiple times after getting it. One of the most LEGENDARY scenes of all time.
“Remember…This name” gave me chills and the crescendo swell of the main theme at the name Link was spectacular
2:14 Chris Hackney delivering this line shows how much effort he put into Rauru’s character. Truly an awesome VA along with Matt Mercer. (VA of Ganondorf)

Tears of the kingdom is the best Zelda of all time. People are eager to criticize it today, but it will be looked back on as the OoT of this time period.
Its truly a masterpiece.
For me it’s 2:37, the music and the sight of Ganondorf slowly freezing - and to think that’s the beginning of his over 10,000 year slumber.
When Link finally destroys Ganondorf and he see Rauru in the other world
Ganondorf: "hey you lying goat, didn't you said Link would fight me with a sword??"
Rauru: "yes I did, what's the problem??"
Ganondorf: "he came to me on a giant flying mecha"
dude... bell sounds NEVER miss in music, soundtracks, anything... 1:23 goes so hard
That's the same bell sounds as the one in MM right?
and the fact that the bell sound reverses right before the gloom starts geting sealed
Im cursed to forever hear the taco bell sound affect 😓
I love everything about this. Zelda using recall, Rauru being a badass, Ganon's last sentence..THE MUSIC and the life from both Ganon and Rauru's eyes fading out. Best cutscene
Its the best of all time in Zelda.
One thing I only recently realized is Rauru was not only trusting Link, but Zelda too, since at this time Rauru knew that the Master Sword was completely and utterly destroyed. He low key knew she would have to become an eternal dragon or at least find some other way to make the sword whole again.
He didn’t know, the sword appeared later. After his death
However the faith in Zelda is still definitely true, how can he even know if link is real or not the faith he puts in her to just accept link will appear is immense
As an odd mask salesman once said about 20yrs ago "Just have faith."
I love how excited Ganondorf is to meet Link. Two swordsmen, masters at their craft, fated to fight, forever.
Beautifully said. An eternal story
It's amazing how without a Link in the world Ganondorf rules the best the Sages can do is seal him but ultimately it's not until the hero reincarnated is born can Ganondorf/Demise be truly defeated.
I see comments talking about the orchestral bit at the end, but can we acknowledge the transition into ganon's theme as he gets trapped?
That's not really Ganondorf's theme
The main Zelda theme kicking in fucking broke me. So many things in this game broke me
This cutscene was peak fiction
When his third eye shoots open, I get goosebumps.
It happens when Sonia perishes, and it happens here. I loved it both times.
I find it happens when he is determined to protect the those he loves: his kingdom/home and his family. He opened his third eye when the herd of Molduga were at the kingdom's doorstep. He opened his third eye when his family was threatened, and now here when his kingdom is at its knees.
I believe Rauru's third eye allows him to focus, concentrate his power.
Considering the Sheikah tribe symbol is an all seeing eye and their connection to the royal family, I wouldn’t be surprised if Rauru’s third eye was what their eye represents. Especially if ancient sheikah tech was based of Zonai tech
I believe it always opens when using magic, Mineru's third eye was open during the entire altercation with Ganondorf too
"Link... Finally, a worthy opponent !
Our battle will be LEGENDARY !!!"
Link: pulls out the master sword fused with a silver lynel saber horn Ganon phase one: *dying noises*. Ganon phase two: sike I ain't done Ganon phase three: ultra instinct Ganon conclusion: Ganon=Goku
And much like Tai Lung, Ganondorf revels in the idea of a worthy foe, but, when the moment comes, his ego can't handle the idea of losing to said opponent.
Ganondorf says his name in an almost nostalgic and dejavue cadence. Me, personally, as someone who knows and loves Zelda lore, likes to think thats his past incarnations all the way down to Demise reminiscing their worthy advisory across the ages...
"are you ready to pay the price for this?"
"don't be so smug. i know exactly what this will cost me"
badass.
This game is THE Zelda of all time. There are always critics nowadays, but this game will stand the test of time. This is the best in 40 years of this series, a true masterpiece
I'm a sucker for good audio design, and the bell sound at 1:23 is just so so pleasing
Most badass line in all of Zelda history.
The Game Awards guys must’ve been drunk when they didn’t pick TOTK as game of the year
After thinking about it, with Sonia gone, that’s probably what gave Rauru the motivation to make the sacrifice play to protect his people and see Sonia again
Everyone is talking about how Rauru says "Remember... this name" but why's no one talking about how Ganondorf says "Interesting, I look forward to meeting him"?? To me that line sounds so good, like Ganondorf has a bit of respect for us and all like ugh its so hard to explain. This is a story so ancient and the fact it has relevance up until now, the fact someone was waiting for us...
It's the Demise peaking through him. Ganondorf is amused at the thought someone would challenge him just like the Hero of Sky did to the original incarnation.
@@wolfzend5964 Ooh that makes it even cooler, an even more ancient evil!

It makes the middle part of the game more dull
Mr beast video idea: I payed Nintendo 50 million dollars to make high quality totk dlc
@@regulusking4299It's better as is, this game did it right. They slowly revealed more and more of the imprisoning war scene to build up to the beginning of the game
Rauru trusting in a guy he didn't even certain if he would really exist.. he really trusted Zelda very much
I love that tornado of verdant light tearing it’s way out of Rauru’s body when he starts absorbing Ganondorf’s magic.
It was still going even when Link and Zelda stumbled onto their corpses, like Ganondorf’s soul is so steeped in evil that having the hand pulling it out of him and purifying it over the course of millennia was like trying to empty the ocean with a bucket.
That one moment that the main zelda theam plays.
We didn't just have dozens of hours of gameplay building up to this scene. We had nearly 4 years since the first BotW Sequel trailer bracing us for this scene. The final shot of the memory took me all the way back to 2019.
Its a MEGA masterpiece. They made all this story from nothing. This game truly stands out from the rest of the generic stuff out there.

This cutscene came at a Friday night after I got home from work and took a relieving shower. Perfect for one of the best moments in the gaming life!
This is why I’m glad that they don’t let you name your own character anymore.
Rauru: “Remember… this name”

“Remember this name” what a powerful line
he was definitely thinking about Sonia as he did this
That punch from Rauru and the magic piercing through gannons back 👌👌👌
Bro this cutscene is probably one of the best ever made, the music fit so well
2:53 that ending music touch, I love it so ***** much
This... This is the moment the symphony that is Tears of the Kingdom is complete. Rauru, the first king of Hyrule, seals Ganondorf away, holding him off until the Spirit of the Hero is reborn and puts into action the legendary tale we call the Legend of Zelda
(Fun fact: Rauru's theme is just the first 2 notes of the legend of Zelda main theme)
This game is a masterpiece. This is probably the only series that, 30 or 40 years later, continues to get better and better and better yet still stay true to the original.
I played ALTTP in the 1990s... never would I imagine it would evolve into what it has become today!
Hearing the epic orchestral version of the classic theme was ALL the hype.
I could (and will) replay this many times
I LOVE the use of the main theme here, but there's something about the few notes that play at 2:42 that just tugs at my heartstrings. Although we're seeing the life drained out of Ganondorf, it's also happening to Rauru, willingly. These notes, however heartbreaking they sound, also have a hint of hope, signifying Rauru's hope in Link, someone he's never met, in defeating the Demon King.
*Edit* : Just realized those same notes play in Rauru's goodbye theme from the Temple of Time, and now my heart hurts even more. In both moments, Rauru is passing on the responsibility of saving Hyrule onto Link, both as his final wishes before he moves on as a body and as a spirit.
This game is a mega, mega masterpiece. There has never been a better Zelda.. and I've played since the 1990s.
@@loganvest367 Absolutely love this reply! I'm new to the Zelda franchise, started playing a few years after BOTW released, and it makes me so happy to hear OG Zelda fans enjoy the newer games! 2:24 When TOTK went from Masterpiece to… something beyond
tell me why this cutscene made me cry??? the way the music swells 😭
This is possibly my favorite moment in the whole game we finally see exactly what went down between the two and how he sealed away the mummified corpse of Ganondorf for thousands of years. It’s also kind of crazy how Rauru had placed so much faith in Link when he hadn’t even met him yet, because he trusted Zelda that much. Then the same arm that sealed him away is ultimately the same arm that defeated him after Link’s corrupted arm was replaced with Rauru’s. Whoever decided to give Link a magical arm of what is basically a demigod and the first king of Hyrule deserves an award. This story ended up being even better than BOTW’s story
0:24 the theme from the beginning! very cool to have it here
the fact that he says all that when rauru says link is very telling. You wouldn't be wrong in saying that not only has he maybe met another link before, but also he has been around longer then even rauru.
To be honest this sent chills down my spine
Every scene Ganon is in he just demands this presence
1:07 this shortcut hits so hard. It made me chills
This scene gave me goosebumps and it still does to this day.
I’m obsessed with the sound at 1:22 when Rauru’s magic goes into effect. It’s so… impactful
The brass section playing the OG Zelda theme is so fucking good!
Two questions: 1) How did Rauru's body just dissapear?
2) How did Ganondorf's body get placed exactly on the middle of the chamber and in such a positions that Rauru's arm is on top of him instead of beside him? Did someone move him? See how in the clip, Ganondorf is slightly on the corner of the pedestal but not on the middle
Even though rauru had the power to put him in stasis, ganondorf's power ultimately prevailed and decayed the rest of the body, leaving only the arm because it was the source of the sealing power. Since the sealing power was weakening, this also meant ganondorf was very slowly gaining control of his body again, enough to change positions and hopefully let the arm fall off (which it did, eventually).
For 1, all the gloom pouring out of Ganondorf’s body got rid of Rauru’s body after 1000’s of years. Remember what a bit of it did to Link’s arm.
For 2, with his body, you can see he’s stood upright but as a corpse, he leans over backwards. From a game making aesthetic perspective, having a corpse bent over backwards definitely makes the appearance all the more creepy. In game, I’d say his joints weakened over the years to where he was falling over backwards. You can also argue that after BotW, he was regaining strength slowly (as written in his character profile). Since he was slowly breaking out of the seal, he probably moved a little from the original position.
@@bitz3225 so apparently there was a bit of a mistranslation, Gloom was supposed to be something along the lines of Miasma, which makes more sense and sounds like a more menacing version of Malice.

Where did the sages go
@BiTZ Rauru's body disappeared because of the damage done to Hyrule Castle during the Calamity. When you're in the Royal Secret Passage, there's text there stating that the castle was built on top of Rauru to hold the seal, and do note that Calamity Ganon first escaped when the royal family started excavating Sheikah technology underneath the castle. Once the final battle between Link and Ganon took place, the seal grew too weak and the Gloom started leaking, where initially it was only Malice that made it out.
I find it interesting that Ganondorf says “interesting” after he repeats links name. Almost like he remembers it
The "Legend of Zelda" theme playing just is the icing on the cake.
Not sure why it took them so long to include it…
It’s saved for when it’s of most importance
00:57. That anime hit has me sold. Move over Mario. Zelda series stepped up to the plate.
The way Ganondorf reacts to Links name and starts laughing after makes it seem like he’s met other Links before so maybe this is deeper in the timeline
There's no way he would've met any other Link. Otherwise, he would've recognized the Master Sword on his own, rather than going off of what Rauru told him.
1:19 is one of the most satisfying melee sounds in gaming history.
"Our battle will be legendary!"
WHAT A LEGENDARY CUTSCENE FOR A LEGENDARY GAME!!!!!!
TRULY THE BEST OF ALL TIME...
Rauru is very brave this scene gave me chills too after hearing remember this name rauru sacrificed himself to protect the other guardians what a king he was and still is
I know we don’t really need to see it but GOD DAMN do I wish we got to see their full fight against ganon
Rauru's thirth eye opened only when he attacked Ganond. A way to say he didnt see him attacking him cause he doesnt have thirth eye. Top 3 best scenes from any Legend of Zelda
Even after being sealed, Ganondorf was still powerful enough to summon the Calamity...
And he doesn't even realize it, given that he only identifies Link by what Rauru told him and he's disappointed in how seemingly weak the Hyrule in Tears of the Kingdom is; completely unaware that it's in that state because of the Calamity.
Remember... his name- AND THEN THE TRUMPETS HOLY SHI
Tysm for uploading this here, my switch is very old and can't process the grafics correctly, so whenever I try to watch a cutscene it's like 1fps
Rauru had a lot of faith in someone he never even met. Let alone knew what he looked like
Given what zelda has told him, he realizes that link will be the one to defeat him
Probably one of the best moments in this whole scene for me is the very end with the call back to the music we heard in the very first trailer.
I saw the scene of Rauru and Zelda looking back at Queen Sonia about three times, i had to see this, amazing they had a Link to the Past as the end music (i Think). 2:34 in. (WOW) Had to laugh at Ganon: Meeting Link, you have for 25-26 years LOL!
My first playthrough of this game was 260 hours according to my switch. I would have traded 200 hours of that gameplay for just 3 or 4 more hours of story content to build up to this.
I have a similar sentiment with BotW
The theme tune made me cry
You can hear the npc end dialogue sound at the end, signifying the end of this era
Man I thought the picture in the present with just the arm and mummified Ganondorf was haunting but seeing this literally shows Rauru decomposed in real time until only his arm was left. Also cool how the vocals from the cutscene play when you first see mummydorf.
The horn part for this was awesome
The seal sound at 1:21 encapsulates the idea of ‘Well, I guess this is it.’
God damnit the song playing with the voice over was so freaking perfect!!!!!!!!!
This was so epic to take in spoiler-free
2:25
the song....
Raaru's theme changing to the Zelda Game theme always gives me chills..
My dude put it all on the line, sacrificed himself, name-dropped us and told Ganondorf to Remember This Name.
With the theme...no line has ever felt more badass with the perfect amount of righteousness.
Favourite scene in the game by far along with the intro
I just seen this in the game and was at awe...bought back memories of previous zelda game. So cool
i love any scene with the main theme expressed in a way such ss that
Doing what is best for his people regardless of the personal cost or risk, _that_ is what a King must do.
rauru grabbing ganondorf out of his neutral b was truely a genius play
The line that Rauru said, followed by Link's theme
Damn that hit me with goosebumps in every part of me.
If anyone ever says that LoZ shouldn't have voice-acting, point them to this cutscene.
