0:00 Recap and Episode 1 Breakdown
22:41 Episode 2 Breakdown
We begin with the sound of tribal drums [clip]. Now the score for this series was done by star wars veteran kevin kiner, who did the clone wars, Rebels, and some s=os his best work on the bad batch. Because this series is a sequel to Star Wars Rebels, he returns a lot of themes from that show-for instance, we hear Hera's rebel theme when we first meet here [clips, fade].
Then we go to the star wars logo opening, featuring several characters-Vader, a protocol droid, clone trooper, HK assassin droid, the sith inquisitor Marrok, Huyang, stormtrooper, chopper, and Sabine Wren-usually these alternate red and blue between good guys and bad guys, but not in this first episode.
So opening with the red font reminded me a lot of the final episodes of dave Filni’s clone wars-where the titles for the episode appeared in red, without the usual clone wars fanfare. And this opening crawl is more like a dour 70s fantasy movie than the flash gordon esque star wars crawl we’ve known before. Get away.
This immediately sets a darker tone for the series. It implies that while Han, Luke, and Leia are off having their bright adventures, Ahsoka is off to the side, fighting in the shadows. Though the crawl does follow the same rules as the typical crawl, with certain nouns, like EVIL GALACTIC empire being capitalized. And this phrase-sinister agents-is also how Lei’a pursuers were named in a New Hope.
His crawl does a good job of summing up where we’re at in the galactic story-but I frankly think they should have included another wine for people who haven't seen Star Wars Rebels.
Doug: Yeah I’ve never seen Star Wars Rebels and I was totally lost.
You never saw Rebels? Well have a full recap up now, but basically [swat]. Oh my gosh!
Doug: What is it?

Now, back to ashoka. So star wars Rebels followed a small rebel cell=--called the specters- in the years before a new hope. Ahaoksa, who had survived the Jedi purge, was the handler for this cell, handing them assignments from the rebel alliance leaders. The specters consisted Sabine Wren, Zeb, chopper, of a former padawan named Kanan, and his new apprentice, Ezra. and the series ends with extra facing off against the imperial grand admiral Thrawn, using hyperspace traveling whales called the purgill to whisk them off to parts unknown.
In season 2 of the Mandalorian, Din Djarin helped Ahsoka capture Morgan Elsbeth, leading to this question [where's Thrawn], Thrawn is one of the greatest star wars villains ever, coming from the books, appearing in Rebels, and launching his own excellent canon novels. So we open on Morgan Elsbeth’s prison transport ship., and I gotta tell you, the new republic is terrible at holding onto their prisoners. Din liberated this guy in season one of the Mandalorian, and moff gideon escaped the ohio prison shuttle.
Now in the Mandalorian, the task force invaded an actual prison ship that was mostly manned by droids. As we see throughout this series, the new republic has whittled down 90% of its military, trying to restore the galaxy to the way it was before the clone wars-demilitarized. [not a great plan]. But it seems like the republic learned its lesson because their transporting Morgan Elsbeth on a battle cruiser that looks a lot like the medium transport the Rebels used to escape Hoth in empire strikes back. - Krátké a kreslené filmy

Ryan, you're still pronouncing purgill incorrectly.
Stupid pop up ad! That MADE my day hahahahah gosh that was hilarious
Star wars the young Jedi adventure
Ryan, Ahsoka's ship ID is T6-1974, which is Dave Filoni's birth year. Not sure it that's why, but I couldn't think of any other reason for it. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
It’s the nihil
Ahsoka also knelt down to save her progress before doing the puzzle in her opening scene
😂😂😂😂
"I've got a bad feeling about this." 😂
Good thing she beat those HK’s then, cause she didn’t save after solving the puzzle
Fall order referende
thought the same lol
That communication tower isn’t the one the Ghost crew sent the transmission from. It’s the tower Ezra is living in at the beginning of Rebels and where Sabine first sees Ahsoka’s ship arrive in the Rebels finale
The helmets were slso Ezra's. He collected them.
Also I think the "sector 7" nod is to one of Admiral Ackbar's lines in Return of the Jedi.
@@lcpunkrawkIt is
Wait, also that's not just any RA-7 at the shipyard. Wouldn't it be AP-5?
was wondering ifsomeone else was going to point that out.
It always devastates me when someone is introduced to a franchise (i know he played Gar in Clone Wars) and they end up passing before seeing the fans reaction and love for their character. We have only seen 2 episodes but im infatuated with his character and his history. RIP, Mr. Stevenson.
I love how in the Second Episode when you see Chopper he acts just as he did in Rebels :) If you pay close enough attention you can hear what Chopper is saying too its amazing how much they kept true to Rebels
Haha Yooo I noticed that too. when he was looking for his tracker. 😂 I thought that was dope
You can definitely hear him say "found it!" as if he's just mumbling it.
Throughout Rebels Chopper is listed as "playing himself" but in the last ep he is credited as "Dave Filoni". Chopper is my favorite droid in the whole of Star Wars because he has the most personality!
I was super bummed when Ryan said he doesn't like Chopper... Because he is awesome.
Chopper, Loth cats and mural are the best part of this so far
At the start of Rebels Ezra was trying to collect all the different kinds of storm trooper helmets. I love that Dave put them all back into his tower!
I was worried we wouldn’t see them because they weren’t there in most of the scenes in the tower but I’m glad we saw them all stacked in the corner
“I already have that one”.
*sad Zeb*
“But this one is nicer!”
😢
I was looking for them but I didn't see them! I wasn't able to pay much attention, so I'll have to look when I rewatch.
Yeah, Ryan messed up. Sabine is living in Ezra's old hideout which is an old radio tower but not the one the message was sent from. You also see Ezra's old painted scout trooper helmet.
@@baddman69 really? Where was his scout trooper helmet?
I liked the mirror between Kanan cutting his hair in rebels and Sabine doing it in Ahsoka. Awesome parallels
Its almost a 1 to 1 replication of that scene from the kneeling, the helmet on the table even on the meaning of getting ready to face your fate. I am shocked they missed that in this video
It’s like poetry
Awesome,,, really?
Or luke in the crap sequels
Along with Andor, this FEELS like 'Star Wars' more than any other shows & movies of the multiple past decades. Also, sad that Ray Stevenson is gone. I followed him ever since his role in the HBO series 'Rome'. He played that character brilliantly.
When Sabine survived the lightsaber wound, I had to laugh, because Charlie Hopkinson has a great running gag in his videos about how being stabbed by lightsaber was a problem solved 5 minutes after Qui-Gon Ginn died from that type of wound. - Great stuff from Charlie, I highly recommend his videos!
Charlie is HILARIOUS! I’ve made some comments here pointing to his channel too. I think Charlie just released a video about Ahsoka yesterday. I’m sure Qui is going to have a lot to say🤣🤣🤣
Star wars the young Jedi adventure the best game ever
it should be pointed out .. A. they have seriously good medicine *unlike america in general and someone got to her quickly and somehow the lightsaber missed her spine .. because probability
Star Wars is at its best when it honors all the stories behind it. I love how people respect and improve and grow from the past.
Star trek 4
I liked seeing Clancy Brown as Rider. It's funny because they designed the cartoon character after him in real life and he voiced the character in Rebels.
Indeed, it’s another case of voice actors reprising their roles in live action, like Bo Katan and soon Thrawn
It really only works out if the voice actor's character happens to be designed like/look enough like their real life likeness, and has acting experience.. like Clancy and Katee. Wish they were able to do it more but the options are limited.
Hoping for starkiller some day..
Don’t forget he was Savage Opress! Oh and Surly Joe !!😎
I didn't remember he was even in Rebels, it had been so long. I found myself wishing he had played Baylon instead, he makes for such a good villain!
All I hear is lex Luthor and mr krabs
I think there’s a good chance we see Force Ghost Anakin in this show, reassuring Ahsoka that his turn wasn’t her fault and encouraging her to train Sabine.
Spoiler/Edit: well well well, how the turntables....
I sincerely hope so! They already took away my visit to the Chiss Ascendency, they'd better not touch my Ahsoka-and-Force-Ghost-Anakin closure!
Didn’t Anakin, as Vader, tell Ahsoka that his turn wasn’t her fault already? When they fought and she broke open his helmet to reveal his eye. Maybe I’m remembering wrong. I guess they could do it again for the show though.
@@alexp601 ...I don't _think_ so? I know he did in the Obi-Wan show, but I think when he & Ahsoka met in Rebels, all he said was her name (after his Force-spirit-vision blamed her several episodes earlier for what he had become). It's been awhile since I saw the episode, though
@@meganofsherwood3665 Ah yeah I think you’re right. They kind of just look at each other and that’s it
Sabine wasn't having a force dream.. she was having a nightmare. It was ezra's exact video message to the crew after he took thrawn on the purgill ride just with Eman Esfandi.
Fun fact, the scene where Sabine cuts her hair, mirrored how Kanan cuts his ponytail right before he dies.
Duuuude, so glad someone mentioned that. I was thinking the same thing. Even the way she holds the blade like him before cutting the hair!
Then proceeds to get stabbed and survive so BS. filoni is so overrated the show feels like a video game. Just make Andor season 2.
@@Justgurowaaaah waaaah waaaaah. That’s you. You can survive being stabbed in the gut even with a lightsaber you just have a very low chance of surviving.
If Dave is overrated so is Andor and the Rogue One😂😂😂. Go watch the sequels
It’s (also) so Mulan.
*This is not just a series but a complete emotional fan event for Rebels fans Dave Filoni & Disney did something incredible(giving Dave permission to do anything)*
It’s Dave Filoni’s grand opus. So so proud and happy for him. 👏
This was amazing. I was so impressed
Dave alone. Disneh deserves no credit for accidentally allowing some non crap through the filter.
Incredible
Yes, yes it was
I love Chopper because he is the only droid that can be understood without someone stating what he is saying… especially when he curses! 🤬 😂❤
C3PO (and by extension, all protocol droids)? all of the B-1 battle droids? 2-1B (medical droid from OT)? IG11? K2SO from Rogue 1 and Andor? L337 from Solo? There are a bunch of droids that speak intelligibly (even more intelligibly than Chopper) all throughout Star Wars content.
I think Chopper is the only intelligible astromech, though
Just amazing. The kind of star wars you love to see. Clear heros and villains, lightsaber fights, deep lore, amazing callbacks. Why cant it all be like this?
Because we wouldn't get something great like Andor
@@kajetankesicki8011 oh man, Andor was fantastic. It was amazing in a different way. Bummed out that the writers strike will delay the next season. I have the last jedi more in mind, or rise of Skywalker. I try to take films and shows as they are but the way they treated Luke was disgraceful.
The opening sequence felt at the temple felt like such an homage to the beginning of raiders. Absolutely loved it.
I said that too! I was waiting for the staff Ahsoka carried at the end of Rebels to appear and be a full fledged remake for that scene from Raiders.
Yeah except the Ahsoka version was overly long and slow and didn't need to be drawn out so much. Raiders was a much better example of how to do a scene like that.
Exactly how I felt!
There were callbacks to both Fight Element and Raiders in that temple scene. There were callbacks to Prometheus and Dune 84' on the red forest planet.
I love how genre specific the 1st two eps were:
1. Raiders style treasure hunt mystery
2. Police Procedural with Asohka and Hera
Rest in Peace Ray, stunning performances across the board. So excited for ep 3!
It's truly sad he passed away because I think he so far is pretty awesome in this and will only get better.
Yes! RIP Ray. Incredible performance so far, love his character.
Good morning
I loved his acting ever since I saw him in the HBO series 'Rome'. He plays that character to perfection!
just because he died dont detract from the fact he is cucked by morgan, the only male character in the show and he's a rent boy
I have a feeling that the hyperspace ring is not only meant to bring Thrawn back, but the Chimera as well.
What/who is Chimera
@@joshuahobbs8255Thrawn's personal Imperial Star Destroyer that he went missing in.
The attention to detail and clear love for the world of Star Wars that Dave has makes the first 2 episodes of Ahsoka miles ahead of the sequel trilogy already
i just love chopper. i love his little arms. i love when he commits war crimes. hes just a great little droid, no one else is throwing a tracking device on another ship
And hes so sassy
Me too don't know why he don't like him 😅
His little flex too❤❤
@@LittleLadyLaLa hes so strong
Sion could also be an homage to KOTOR II’s Darth Sion, who was a centuries old sith that stayed alive by hating on his enemies. Maybe a metaphor to how Palpatine’s machinations are everlasting and permanent?
Also sounds like the Eye of Sauron for a LOTR reference 😅
@@Iwillone no. Sion is major star wars charactor from KOTOR. Don't add that crap to this.
Honestly that was my first thought as well. Interestingly he was also missing an eye, and it seemed to be one of the major dark side induced mutations on him. Another interesting point there is you can't beat Darth Sion through combat; the encounter ends with conversation where you convince him to give up his hate and let himself die.
@@cole71 Actually, they’re not wrong… doesn’t make them right, but it is an interesting similarity given the use of “Eye of” and an S name ending in “-on.” Add in the themes of resurrecting evil, evil building power in the shadows, and a generally dreaded villain, and I’d say it’s a tad too close to be a coincidence.
I love Chopper. He was so awesome in Rebels. I was surprised to hear that you didn’t like him. I also love the actress who plays Sabine. She did a really nice job. And Rosario Dawson did at least one good Ahsoka smirk. I thought the first two episodes were exciting. I didn’t like how washed out the colors were when they were focusing on the master and apprentice working with the witch.
But in general everything looked great.
Great story so far, compelling characters, beautiful visuals, exhilarating SFX and inspiring music... I could never have dreamed that Star Wars would make such a comeback so suddenly with just these 2 episodes. I am blown away by this show already.

I was so worried about how they would hit the rebels characters in live action but they nailed it. Like wow. Music was incredible, action was solid, and the emotions were immaculate
Trials of the Darksaber is one of my favorite episodes from Rebels. When I heard that lietmotif play, I was instantly hit in the feels.
The casting choices of who got to reprise their animated roles and who was recast are still a bit of a head scratcher. Love Rosario and it's great to see Clancy Brown, but why not Ashley as Ahsoka? I also think Vanessa Marshall would have made a great live action Hera.
@@RogueBagelI think Vanessa Marshall would have been the one to pull over instead of Ashley. (I LOVE Ashley, I really really do, but she is so petite and Ahsoka isn’t) Mary Elizabeth Winstead almost seems too young! Her performance (so far) lacked that the maturity and confidence that I think animated Hera was known for.
100% agree!
the predictability of the show shows their contempt of human intelligence >or maybe it shows their intelligence ?< finished episode 1 I bet the apprentice lives just watched episode 2 I was right want to know what happens at end / they sort of win 4 now all enemies not destroyed that leaves the story open so can make more
Probably the best thing Disney has done yet. The nitty gritty detail to this show is INSANE. The holograms just look so authentic, the costumes are perfect. THE EYE OF SION?????? A KOTOR REFERENCE BABY LETS GOOOOOOOO
Its Filoni baby!!!! 🎉❤
AGREED!

Nah. Maybe if you grew up with Rebels. But Andor is the best Star Wars for older fans (40+) period.
Yea Andor is still at the top.
You should have mentioned that in Sabine Diary, which was an official release, she says that having long hair under her helmet makes her sweat. So she hasn’t worn her armor and cutting her hair was a sign that she was ready to pick it up again.
It was obvious without the book.
One thing that wasn’t mentioned, was when Sabine touched the starmap it made the same sound that was made in Rebels pointing out that Ezra was force sensitive. The sound wasn’t as strong as the one made for Ezra but it was still a nice touch
They nailed everything. Chop was my fav moment so far because his mannerisms are exactly like in rebels with the arm movements and everything. Cant wait for next week!
Me too I don't know why he don't like him 😅

I also love chopper and named my dog after him in 2015. He feels like a puppy in a way, and I love the name. Don't get how you can hate chopper...

Star wars the young Jedi adventure
It is so sad you don’t like Chopper.
Chopper is amaaaazing. By far my favourite droid of all the Star Wars droids. He’s sassy.
@@autobot111 I am hoping that a life size Chopper item will be available soon. How can anyone not like him? He’s hilarious, always dropping f-bombs, and chooses violence every morning
Chopper is a war criminal with one of the highest body counts! I still like him though. . .
A couple of items missed in this video: the scoop Sabine uses to feed her lots-cat is a 1970’s-era Tupperware cup measure, the biggest being that Baylin and Shin fly around in an Eta-class shuttle and the dark Jedi who fights Ahsoka on Correllia has an inquisitor-style blade and armor reminiscent of the Knights of Ren.
Pretty sure the reason Marrok has an inquisitor style saber is because he's an inquisitor.
@@CloneCommanderCrater1102 which Ryan indeed mentions around 31:48
@@herbalt I know, I was just letting @jeffreycarman2185 know that.
That 'Inquisitor' might be Barris Offee.
@@kylesmith1118 No, Marrok is referred to as 'he'
Great start, emotional moments.... The actors did a great job impersonating the characters we love. I am really happy for this show.
Idk, I loved rebels, but I felt a severe lack of emotion in all the line delivery. Don’t get me wrong. It was beautiful. But I think they did Hera so dirty, and I cheered out loud when Sabin got stabbed. How can a non force user be a Padawan.
These two episodes really felt like a prelude while watching them, which is cool to see they actually were with that scene of Sabine in front of the mural... I think this show is going to pick up steam incredibly fast come the next episode.
Next episode is 30 mins…..
@@shustyrackleford7692 how does the length of an episode matter whatsoever? All clone wars episodes lasted 20 minutes and were packed with action, lore and story. You're logic is irrelevant to the comments point.
I disagree. This felt like a sequel, which I fully understand it is. The problem lies in the studio poorly introducing the characters, like they expect everyone to have watched multiple children's cartoons previous to watching this. Casual fans like myself have no problem with introducing characters from the cartoons, but they need to do it properly.
Ashoka's introduction in the mandalorian is a great example of how to do it right. Her introduction and portrayal in that show is why I started watching this
@@FIxIoN420Absolutely not. Disney does not need to reintroduce well established characters because some refused to familiarize themselves over the last few years. This series wasn’t sprung on anyone. That is an unnecessary waist of screen time.
I don't get this perspective. You can say this about pretty much any new movie or franchise. We are always dropped in the middle of a story with characters we are not familiar with. As long as we learn about their history along the way why does it matter?@@FIxIoN420
So, I didn't love Dawson's take on Ahsoka in Mando, buuuuut, that changed very quickly with this episode. She did some facial expressions that just felt sooooooo much like Ahsoka, I was sold lol. And, I want a loth cat more than ever. 😅
Funny thing is that I feel the opposite way. She felt more feral in Mando and I think that fits her character. In Ahsoka she is fairly tame, wooden and cold. I was kind of disappointed in her but really enjoyed the show otherwise
i felt such a connection to the phantom menace during these episodes it’s good to see they still care about the prequels
Excellent breakdown Ryan, pure genius! You're the greatest buddy, the episodes just came out and you have an amazing video broken down every detail going back and forth to the original, unbelievable! Thank you!
I’m absolutely loving the show thus far story wise, and as someone who grew up with Clone Wars and Rebels, seeing all these characters from the animated shows in live action was just marvellous to watch. Not to mention that the music is also wonderfully woven into the story as well. Bring on Episode 3.
Sorry, I love Chopper. He was my favorite character in Rebels. I love how smartass and sarcastic he is.
Me too! Chopper is the OG Murderbot and War Crime Committer. And, the foulest mouth in Star Wars
Never seen rebels, but this character had me laughing and somehow lol I understand him 🤣 it’s muffled English , you actually can understand what he saying, pretty cool
Me too don't know why he don't like him 😅
Same. R2 is a goofball as well, just more, subtle I guess
Precisely. I can't see how anyone could dislike Chopper.
MISSED EASTER EGG:
When Ahsoka returns to Home One, the ID code she gives is T6 1-9-7-4. Thats the month and year that Dave Filoni was born.
Loved how this show started off. I compare tasks like this (catching up half an audience on so much story in a short amount of time) to how it was executed with Fellowship of the Ring. There were easter eggs for hardcore fans, simple enough explanations for new or live-action-only fans, exciting moments, and emotional moments. Not to mention stellar visuals and music. Good job all around.
Love this channel and breakdown!
Yes! I was wondering why they were referencing '74. My best guess was maybe they wrapped up filming the first film then.
Yeah I had to think about it for a bit before I realized!
Sabine, while she was laying out her armor, acted in the same manner as Kanan did in “Jedi Night”. She even moved the blade and cut her hair in the same motion.
Ezra's painted scout helmet also makes an appearance in the comms tower when sabine enters it for the first time in the show on the right side of the door
Literally came to the comments to find if ANYONE had mentioned it. That was one easter egg that I was hoping ryan would mention but didn’t
Yo I missed that 🥲
I like how the show isn't explaining everything upfront. People who haven't watched Rebels or CWs can slowly get brought into it. Also, I'm liking Sabine's limited force abilities mixed in with the Mandalorian heritage and her rebellious personality.
the first episode was basically a "what u missed in rebels" episode
I noticed some Easter eggs that hasn’t been mentioned that I know of. For example in Episode 1 at 30:15 mark at the foot of the bed is Ezra’s scout trooper helmet he wore in rebels. And Episode 2 at 5:14 Baylon sees Purgill in the clouds. Sooo cool!
To explain the love for Chopper, he's a much more violent R2D2. War crimes is his business, there is no mercy from the crazy little guy, just like how HK-47 never gave a fuck.
I like how Disney keeps mentioning the old republic: the eye of sion, the hk droids, the canon version of the star map, Mandalore the great, the rakatan cyber crystal, etc.
It's not Disney that's hinting at the Old Republic. It is Dave he is an old republic lover that's why in clone wars they show Darth Bane and the rule of two.
The first two episodes were absolutely amazing! Dave really knows what he is doing!
We need to start a petition to make him president of Lucasfilm. With him at the helm, we would get amazing content all the time.
Finally a Disney plus shows that ain’t boring and cringe

I really appreciate your videos, Ryan! They help me understand all the many details of these shows. Keep up the good work!
I’ll be honest, I didn’t think this show was gonna be as good as it has been so far. For rebels fans like myself this show is absolutely amazing so far, and I beg if you haven’t watched rebels before this please do, it’s so worth it especially with this show tied onto it.
I absolutely love Rebels, but I’m kind of disappointed so far. The pacing is kind of off even if they are trying to set up the story. Also the lightsaber duels specifically with Ahsoka are really slow and boring and just feel poorly choreographed. Hopefully they get better. Not saying I hate the show, but I think it could have been a little better. I’m glad the trailers haven’t given away much
honestly i fully expected this from Dave Filoni
I really like the villains(balyon is great RIP) and special effects and ships are great! I just don't like the transition and how they scrapped all the rebels voice actors and still wishing ahsoka looked better same with the lightsaber duels. The story is there so ill keep watching even if I am upset its not animated etc, just for the story!
Yeah stop listen to Ryan Shit on rebels, it's actually a top tier cartoon, chopper and Ezra are both great characters, and then you can fall In love with them and the rest of the crew. Chop>>>>>Grogu.

I haven’t been this excited for Star Wars in a long time
I'm impressed you didn't mention when Baylan looks up from the stone circle on Seatos and there is a silhouette of a purgill that passes through the clouds
Ashoka solving the puzzle to get the wayfinder to thrawn reminded me heavily of some of the puzzles you need to solve in the Jedi fallen order/survivor games. Pretty cool to see that in live action!

The way people just keep trying to link something to other properties or previous star wars is straight up weird

Whilst waiting for these episodes to drop, I avoided any spoilers, and instead spent a day or so binge viewing the list of 'Essential Ashoka' on Disney+. It jogged my memory for some episodes, gave me the chance to see some I had not watched, and gave me an even greater appreciation and love for the character and her evolution. I found the final season of Clone Wars to be particularly powerful, and very moving. I loved these first two episodes, and cannot wait for the next installment.
Great breakdown I really liked the first 2 episodes and the thought of bridging the game between trilogies is really what I wanted to see

World Between Worlds allows all of Lucas' SW to become canon within Disney SW. Brilliant. Thank you Dave Filoni.
We can only hope😢
Huh? Lucas's SW isn't canon.....?
I hope you know that the only SW content George made were the movies which are still and will always be canon. The EU was never canon and it wasn’t made by George.
George Lucas also did The Clone Wars, not only the movies. But - please no more World Between Worlds! I personally hope they somehow merge the old Thrawn Trilogy and new Thrawn into a main movie event featuring Luke, Leia, Lando and Han, Ahsoka, Din, Grogu, Chewie and Krsantan. I terribly miss Mara Jade, Talon Karrde and Winter, as also C'baoth, Pellaeon and the Noghri. Hope they include them.
But I think a multiverse or time travel has absolutely nothing to do with Star Wars. So I hope they simply tell a new story in the canon. I don't want the terrible multiverse effect of Marvel in our Star Wars. 😢

34:32, The green, almost mist like quality of the image coalescing into their forms is also reminiscent of the green mist (26:55, or in this case, green flame) that embodies the Nightsister’s powers (the mist itself being an element called ichor that was native to all life on Dathomir).
Either Morgan is using ichor in the projectors (Talzin previously could use ichor to form objects like a cup or a green-flaming sword and once even projected her image from Dooku’s chest when she was torturing him with what was essentially a voodoo doll) from or it is simply a visual reference to the Nightsisters and their powers.
It was so good!!! It really is 'Rebels' Season 5 but in live action.
So amazing. Every bit is just such a great throwback to Rebels. I love the vibe of the theme song and the whole show. Ahh. So good. Sabine...phew.
Star wars the young Jedi adventure
Sabine was the worst part
Annoying whiny teenager
Star trek 4
I also love the fact that the transport carrying Elsbeth in taking it's own sweet time in sub light speed like the ship carrying Nute Gunray in the Clone Wars animation and the prison ship in The Mandalorian. It makes it very convent for the enemy to attack the ship and free the VIP prisoners not to travel in hyperspace. 🙄
I love it, Ahsoka is going to be an excellent Star Wars Classic. May the force be with you.
The commander's swing around chair console with its inexplicable toggle switches and dials was such a great throwback detail to the OT
the circle patches on sabine and hera's left arms, yellow circle on red background, was the patch for the 7th fleet or open circle fleet. Which was the fleet commanded by obi-wan and anakin. you can see the emblem on the destroyers over coruscant in ep.III.
Sabine cutting off her hair is almost an exact copy of when Kanan cut off his hair in Rebels!
Oh I been looking forward to the SC videos for Ahsoka! When it comes to Star Wars I will be watching the breakdown videos and other ones. I was like aw yeah when I realized that was Clancy Brown in the show! What I love about these videos is it made me realize what I noticed but much of what is mentioned I would have no idea if it wasn't for Ryan and the SC team bringing all this together highlighting this great new Star Wars show.
The white fade in at the beginning of episode 2 is also an homage to the same fade used when Frodo first wakes up after being rescued by Gandalf from Mount Doom in Return of the King
I thought the whole show sort of had a LOTR feel to it.
@@lcbrown2119 Supposedly Dave had been seeing Ahsoka as a kind of Gandalf like figure, As noted by the white cloak she wears in the Season finale of Rebels as opposed to the gray one we normally see her wearing. Obviously, he's retconned that ending a little since she's still wearing gray when she picks up Sabine at the end of these two eps.
@@TheRealAlpha2 Ahsoka the Grey and then after the Worlds between the worlds, Ahsoka the White! She’d be cool to see in that white robe from end of Rebels.
@@lcbrown2119 we may still get it by the end of this season
It’s so good to be back! I’ve been so looking forward to new Star Wars breakdowns! Keep up the amazing work!
Also, at 14:05 the logo on Hera’s jacket is actually the emblem/logo of the Ghost and can be seen stamped on the side of the ship in a few places during Rebels.
And at 18:29 , the communications tower Sabine is in was the one Ezra used to live in/the one Kallus broadcast his Fulcrum messages from, not to one they broadcast their rebellion message from, since that one got blown up by the empire.
Sorry to be Um Actually-ing so much haha
Thanks, for mentioning that. I thought it was kinda sweet that Sabine moved into Ezra's old digs.
I think, this tower on Lothal used to be Ezra's former home. He used to collect Empire helmets, and I think those are the helmets that are lying in the corner. Sabine just seems to have occupied Ezra's place.
Thank you, this was really helpful! My mind is blown with all the easter eggs
When Sabine is trying to read the information from the droid head, the scanner she is holding is actually a retro Space Invaders handheld game that they painted.
Yeah, my cousin had one in the early '80's. I recognised it too.
In Ep. 2 when Huyang talks with Sabine, I thought he would say something along the lines of..."but what you lack in Force awarenes, you can compensate with your rather...unique skills. You are Mandalorian...and the only time you're wasting..."
Agreed. I was disappointed he didn't
This is hands down the best place for any Star Wars discussion.
Excellent video as always!!
Ahsoka is my favorite character. I literally love this so much so far.
*Ahsoka
A lot of Jedi games in this show. The path reminded me of the path to Tanalorr that Cal navigated with the force. The ball puzzle at the start sounded like the zeffo temples too. When Morgan says she is a suvivor. It calls back to Merrin 'Survivors, we adapt'
Ahsoka working out the angle of the guy who 'didn't do politics' hints at the training she got from Padme Amidala
Sabine when she cut her hair here mirrored very closely how Kanan cut his hair in the fantastic Rebels episode, Jedi Night. Made me tear up a little bit.
Chopper is the best. He is the anti-hero droid to R2-D2's boy scout. He gets s*** done, but will give you all kinds of sass and will probably commit several crimes along the way. There is literally an episode that has him stealing a replacement leg from a droid parts shop and then using said stolen merchandise to knock out an Imperial captain in a whirling typhoon of rage. Awesome.
In Timothy Zahn's Thrawn novels, the Chiss navigate unknown regions guided by force-sensitive children called "sky-walkers". It causes Thrawn to pause when he first encounters Anakin, as you'd imagine (especially since sky-walkers are the most secure Chiss' secret). Building on this to develop a whole mythology of force-sensitive ancient people who would have built the Republic (and the temple we see here, I don't get why we'd need Yuzhan Vong to explain it - especially since the sphere that activates it is a machine) is beyond cool.
I see someone got access to the episodes early. I envy you Ryan.
You rock!! Keep up the great work!!
Outstanding start to this series!! 🎉
22:31 that wasn’t his first fight with Darth Vader. He fought against Vader on Lothal at the beginning of Season 2
Kind of a minor detail I noticed: the hologram effect we actually have seen before-the Umbara arc in Clone Wars, specifically on the Umbaran base that Krell & the clones capture.
I Dave Filoni we trust. He has such a passion for Star Wars, a knowledge of what came before, but not making it fan service. He truly cares about this story and the characters
i am inlove with this show!!! the casting for ahsoka was AMAZING
I popped so hard seeing Dr Taub show up in episode 2. Never knew I needed a Star Wars x House crossover
Tantive is pronounced "tan-ta-VEE", as canonized in the Radio Drama and audio books.
General Rieekan is pronouned "ry-KIN" as spoken by Solo and Leia in Empire.
Two tiny pieces of feedback, loved the videos an all of the references!
I hope they continue to dive into this era and take inspiration from Andor (and ignore Kenobi compeltely).
Cheers!
Chopper is an a-hole with a hilarious heart of gold. That’s why I love him.
I appreciate your videos. I watched you when you did this with Andor im pretty sure. I love your content.
Thanks for the breakdown! And your cut to the Ahsoka title edit was awesome!
RIP to the late Ray Stevenson. May the force be with him, always
Okay, a real comment - I had this thought when you were talking about Sabine figuring out the key by just lining up the design. On some level, it's beyond belief that Hyuang (who said he tried to figure it out) couldn't do that - as a droid he should be able to figure out every combination with lightning speed. But I wonder if it's kinda similar to that moment in Attack of the Clones where the droid can't recognize the saber dart because of the markings and Dex remarks about how droids don't know the difference between wisdom and knowledge. Realistically I feel like these droids should be able to pattern match but I think it's all part of that machines vs the Force theme - droids apparently don't really 'get' art.
I'm really interested in uncovering the motivations of all the characters, in particular Baylan and his apprentice. Is it really just power? Along with knowing what is in the other galaxy...I'd love if it connects to something like Zeffo but I'm guessing it's a tie in to the Thrawn books (which I haven't read).
