    #Ahsoka #Episode3 #Breakdown
And, time to fly also refers to the purgill, but I’ll talk about them later on. I want to note very quickly that typically, in the Star Wars intro, the good guys are blue and the bad guys are red. But for some reason, Marrok and Sabine's colors are switched. Maybe this means that Marrok could be a secret good guy, like Ezra-or that Sabine will eventually learn to use the force-0-but the dark side of the force.
The episode begins in a hyperspace tunnel-which is appropriate in an episode that's all about discovering a hyperspace ring. So, just to briefly explain hyperspace in star wars-because it's very important for this show. Hyperspace is like a dimension that’s just beneath normal space. Think of it like currents of water that can fast travel people to other parts of the galaxy along specific hyperspace lanes. The Purgill navigate through hyperspace naturally, while ships have to use special computers.
Hyperspace travel also serves a useful sort function in star wars-it gives the chacretes a moment to stop and regroup. For instance, when Luke took the time to mourn Obi --wan, or when Obi-wan found the time to train Luke in a new hope. That classic, original Jedi training sequence is mirrored in this episode-in some ways that are obvious, and in other ways you probably didn't notice.
So Huyang is guiding Sabine through many poses for saber combat. Huyang has probably done this for thousands of padawans over the centuries, like how we first saw him helping padawans choose a saber in the clone wars [clip, wookie one].
So, oh my god, so many easter eggs in this sparring scene. First of all, it’s nice to see a jedi in training actually using a wooden word, practicing against holograms. In Attack of the Clones, we see preschoolers blindfolded with little lightsabers, which is adorable, but if you ''’r e apparent your butt cheeks never unclench when you watch these adorable little tikes so close to checking each other up.
Doug: Maybe those lightsabers are like at half power, like that one in the venture brothers [clip].
Yeah, maybe. Ahsoka says she wants to train Sabo One with the Za-tow-ichi technique-which is such a cool reference to samurai function. Za-tow-ichi was the subject of a series of novels about a blind samurai that were adapted into 26 movies, plus a TV series. One of these was turned into the rutger hauer movie blind fury [clip].
The 2003 movie is probably the best known and has some killer action scenes [clip]. So Ashoka training Sabine blindfolded is a tribute to this film.
Abd Marshall touchton on twitter pointed out that Ahsoka’s reverse grip fighting style was inspired by how the Za-tow-ishi actor, Shintaro Katsu, held his weapon in the films and the classic 70s’s tv show.
Appropotre, since George Lucas famously drew inspiration from Murosawa samurai films for star wars, lifting the structure of the hidden fortress, for example. And dave fioni has made live action ahsoka a samurai tribune since her first appearance in the mandalorian. [kurawa split screen]
But this scene is more directly influenced by obi wan training luke in a new hope. It makes sense that Ahsoka would know this technique-after all, Obi Wan was her master’s master. The cabinet in this room features a variety of lightsabers, and the remote droids that we saw used for blind force training in attack of the clones and a new hope.
The scene makes a direct callback to a new hope, with this line [can’t see, clips, fade]. Notice that her training helmet does have the emblem of the old jedi order on it, but it's been rubbed away over the years. Which shows us how the order has been nearly wiped out, but it still persists.
Doug: I just thought it was like an old helmet that had been used alot.
Yeah, probably that/. And by the way everyone, if you like what we do here at the channel then
    Doug: Here we go again.

Ryan, the Perlemian Trade Route is NOT named after Rhea Perlman. That name has existed since the old EU, before Disney bought Star Wars. It's referenced and shown in some of the old EU novels in the pages at the beginning of the book, where there's a map of the Star Wars galaxy.
So, interesting theory or idea, but that trade route has had that name for a lot longer than Rhea Perlman has had anything to do with Star Wars.

I think the thing with Sabine and Ahsoka is that they're both deeply depressed people- ex child soldiers who've seen way too much and done way too much, and it's weighing them down now that they're older and wiser and had years to think about it all. That's a tough combination for the two leads.

If he started that training after the Mortis arc I'd certainly say it's possible, but I think her costuming had changed by Mortis and in Tales she was wearing her earliest look when she started that training. That aside, it's still not impossible, and since we know that Sith Lords can torment a Jedi with visions of their loved ones suffering, Vader did it to Luke, Palpatine did it to Anakin, perhaps Palpatine used visions of Ahsoka before he found out about Anakin's marriage. That could trigger the intense training push.

Not to take away from that reference but I felt it was a matrix reference to when they hid from the sentinels (Baylon could have been a jedi sentinel) while powering down the ship. As for Baylon could have been a Jedi Sentinel as he has referenced the younglings talking about the galaxy. Also he seems to have a lot of knowledge. Continuing on Baylon then sends a search party(sentinels in the matrix) to find Ahsoka and Sabine.

@@lukeford9803 she doesn't! That's why I still love the show. When adapting an established work, there are choices one must make when casting the live action. They saw her performance at the audition and said "that's a variant of Sabine!" And so did I.
Snow White and the Little Mermaid chose to say anyone can be Ariel or Snow for better or worse, as long as you thrive for adventure or are pure of heart, which are awesome messages. It's equally awesome for Sabine to be any woman, but, to be visually accurate she'd need to be darker. That's just a fact, like America Chavez in comix vs Multiverse of Madness, or Sunspot or whatever his name is in New Mutants. I'm not irate over it, it's just something I noticed. Like if Ahsoka were another shade of orange lol
However, Sabine, Snow White or Ariel have established visual media, descriptions, to which you can either lean in or away. Some people are even more sensitive, which is a shame 🤷🏾‍♂️ I think of every property as a potential multiverse where we can explore stuff like this, her race was never relevant to her story like it is being Twilek or whatever else, so it's an appropriate change.

I think there is room for both the concept of midichlorians (representing innate talent) and the type of discipline/meditation Ahsoka mentions. I think Sabine is a bit like Chirrut (which - how can we not mention Chirrut in an episode about blind samarai!) who doesn't have the ability to manipulate the Force, but through intense discipline is still attuned to it and in balance with it. Ahsoka, who doesn't feel bound by the Jedi's initial rules, can still teach Sabine the general mindfulness, ethics and philosophy of the Jedi, even if she can't move rocks or whatever else. Honestly, I hope Sabine never actually moves that cup. To me that's not the point.

If Grogu can protect himself and others from an exploding starship, Kanan did the same. So, the Empire found him maybe thinking he was an inquisitor, or brainwashed him, or he thought he was an inquistor from the many battles. Memory was jumbled up. The witches could have also revived him. Anyway, he's fully clothed and wears a mask because of the burns like Darth Vader. Lastly, my gut feeling is Filoni wants a mini reunion of ALL his Rebels main characters.
