That Map orb kind of reminds me the same object from treasure planet.
I thought Rakkatans too, at first, but considering the triumvirate and connection to spheres, it seems more like a connection to the Zepho, from Jedi: Fallen Order.

The rotating pedestals and glowing, golden orbs reminded me a lot of Jedi Survivor and its puzzles with glowing, golden orbs. Plus the storyline of Jedi Survivor involved a path to another planet with a beam showing the way. It was fun to catch some of those references.
Yeah definitely some coordination of design there, if Cal pops up in this ill be so stoked haha

In terms of who we will see, I think we’ll see Obi-Wan (in a flashback) Luke, Anakin (in flashback and force ghost) and Rex.
Isnt Ahsoka set after episode 6? Survivor is set between 3 and 4
The translation from animation to live action for alot of the characters looks really well done.
Especially Ezra, it's ten out of ten casting.

Qui Gon was stabbed through the chest, not the appendix side of the abdomen where there's much less useful stuff than hearts and lungs.
I still dont get why lightsaber users dont just push the blade upwards when they stab someone, instead they pull it out as if it were a sword, but it's not, it's a lightsaber, a little upward force after a stab will garunteed the death of the opponent

@@themelon_1785agreed. Plot armpit/armor. Lucas loves samurai movies. When they, samurai, they cut they cut up/down. That fight scene was super weak.
I mean he wasn't stabbed through either. Neither your lungs or heart are in the middle of your chest. Just your spine.
That wasnt the appendix. the appendix would be far lower in your abdomen in the pelvic region. That was closer to the liver.
Baylan is already one of my favorite character so sad that Ray is gone because he did amazing Job in this series.
But what happens to every master?
How? We only have 1st episode. I mean Ray is awesome 👌

My favorite part of Huyang is the way his voice is layered, with deeper tones being almost an echo when he speaks.
Yeah I loved how it fluctuated in pitch.

I think Thrawn and Ezra was sent to another galaxy where purrgils might nest, to a planet called Peridea. And the ancient nightsisters were tracking them before hyperspace travel was possible. That’s why they need the Eye of Sion to travel because regular star cruisers with their hyperdrives cannot travel there.

Elsbeth being referred as "survivor" makes sense
She is one of three survivors of the Purge of Dathomir by Grevious, Sidious and Dooku in the end of The Clone Wars, seen in Son of Dathomir and mentioned in Fallen Order, alongside Maul and Merrin
Well Grievous purged the Nightsister witches not the Nightbrothers, we see these guys alive and well in Fallen Order. Maul was a Nightbrother, so he doesn't count as a survivor

The "Witches of Dathomir" is the most metal title. I could see that airbrushed on an album cover.
these episodes really felt original trilogy/ rebels vibes and i loved it!

My favorite piece of Star Wars is probably Rebels, so I'm absolutely loving this. The first two episodes were awesome, can't wait to see where this goes.
gonna be honest i think the music of this series is my fav part. it really adds to the emotion certain scenes try to embody
They are building an eye of scion hyper gate and scion translates into Heir. So it would make sense it’s the eye of the heir to bring him back from hyperspace
There was also a Sith Lord named Darth Sion who used his pain, anger, and hatred to essentially keep himself from dying... until he was tortured by being immediately killed over and over until he had had enough and allowed himself to die. Anyway, he had a pretty interesting looking eye lol

The idea of a NEW galaxy in Star Wars is kind of shocking because we have always known Star Wars to be “A long time ago, in a galaxy far far away.”
Where are the competent men? We got one that’s a Sith master. But what always happens to the master?

Filoni described the world between worlds a LOT more like the citadel at the end of time instead of time travel
Dave also said it was like everything happening all at once through time and space.
One thing to note is there is the possibility that the orange lightsabers don't contain Kyber crystals but the less powerful Kohlen crystals. It hasn't been confirmed at all yet but in the Star Wars Novel "Master and Apprentice" Obi-Wan has his Kyber crystal switched with a Kohlen Crystal and it turns his lightsaber orange.

Other than the 3 witches from Macbeth, those 3 witch sculptures could also the Moires, the 3 fates from ancient Greek mythology cause Morgan seemed to be pretty obsessed with fate and predistened paths
The concept of 3 as being a significant number of "entities" for a belief system (or part of it) is actually very central to the majority of human cultures.
More like the norns as the mythological inspiration seems to be taken more from Nordic mythology than Greek
nahh the three represent the Ones from the clone wars, the son, daughter, and father. It comes from clone wars and rebels. Yeah it has mythological influences from our cultures, but the Ones are that mythological influence in the star wars universe.
Off topic but that's also in The Snyder Cut Justice League the three Apokolips priestess channelling to open the mother boxes for the anti life equation
They're also a homage to the three witches from Macbeth and DC comic characters
They're whole group of them that Darkseid goes to for prophecies as they're also oracles but only three leaders
I think the map is based on purgill migration routes like ..maybe where Thrawn ended up in a hub at the end of the route..like How Kennywood is at the end of an old trolley route..
The ancient race was sble to follow the purggill and map these routes to travel through space and chart hyperspace lanes..
Maybe the Nightsisters have some ancient connection and that's how Morgan knows of it from legends..
The end hub would be a good place to at least start to look for Thrawn.

They showed very clearly it was further to the side than qui gons hit. It was subtle but It felt as if that was an important detail they wanted to put out there.
17:35 I think this can be a fun call back to an exchange between Cal Kestis and Merrin in Jedi: Fallen Order.
Nightsisters and Jedi do not travel together but... Survivors, we adapt.
The line work on the Star map also reminded me of the various orbs in Fallen Order that were used in puzzles and general world design.

The orb star map is also extremely similar to the one used in Treasure Planet both is the way it is turned to open and how it projects the image leading to the treasure.

Seemed like Shin purposely spared Sabine. Very easy to do a kill shot at that moment. That combined with her constant question of Baylan makes me think her and Baylan are not on the same page. Perhaps they are headed for a split?
Or the writers just weren’t about to kill off a fan favourite character in the first episode?

Baylan’s theme reminded me a lot of Gwyn Lord of Cinders theme from Dark Souls
The casting for Sabine and Hera are perfect, they genuinely feel like the animated characters brought to life.

Casting was okay, writing is scaring away viewers or outright angering Rebels fans.
Couple of notes. The R2 unit in the opening also has the teardrop design and keeps with the Rebels aesthetic of using Kenner designs. Also Morgan declares herself a survivor, which is the bond that Cal Kestis and Merrin share. Both the Night sisters and the Jedi were wiped out.
I love Baylan's move down the corridor. His movements are so deliberate, so precise. He's moving through forms of his lightsaber style just like he did in training.
At 18:32 on the left you can also see Ezra's painted scout trooper helmet

I did not like "Kenobi" but I felt these first two episodes of "Ashoka" were really brilliant. Looking forward to the rest of the series.

I thought Morgan calling herself a Survivor was also a reference to Merrin, from the games, who is also a Nightsister who refers to herself that way as well.
If you look closely at those golden lines emanating from the end sequence map design, you will notice that the leading points of the lines are not a consistent thing, there's a strange sort of chaos to it as it streaks out. Look even closer and you will realize this movement comes from the silhouette of the head and legs of a running lothwolf!
What an amazing breakdown! I caught a lot of that myself, but there a bunch of details you picked up that floored me. Thanks, my sons and I really enjoyed it! I'm looking forward to future episodes in the these next weeks.

Good easter egg video, thanks for the content. @EAVoss, if you look even closer at the scene with the scout helmets, on the left on a table by Sabine's feet, you can spot Ezra's yellow and orange scout trooper helmet from Rebels that I'm sure Sabine painted up. I'm keeping an eye out for Kanan's Loth cat stormtrooper painted helmet and hope that makes an appearance too.

3:17 Still awaiting official confirmation, but the design marks this ship as an MC-30 frigate, so it's somewhat smaller than the big MC-80 cruisers like Home One.
Incidentally, it's good to see Home One still operational. This is the ship from which Admiral Ackbar commanded the fleet above Endor and led the Alliance to victory!

I can't remember now if it was episode 1 or 2 but we also get to see Ezra's scout trooper helmet that Sabine painted for him, that one tugged at my feels for sure. This series is off to a great start.

i LITERALLY was thinking this reminds me of filth element and then immediately like also as if this was a video game where you gotta solve the puzzle...so hearing you say that hit home lol
The pink x wing engines looked really good. Plus i absolutely dig that its a continuation of rebels.
Regarding how still the HK droid is and how you have to keep looking at it or it will rush you (@10:15), maybe Huyang should advise Ahsoka: "Don't Blink!"

So, with the HK assassin droid not moving when it's looked at I can't help but think of the Weeping Angels from 'Doctor Who' that had the same defense. Which makes me imagine what it would be like if The Doctor took our heroes around time to find Thrawn. With Tennant voicing Huyang there's another connection. It would be incredible if instead of being stuck in one time period and having to figure out a story set in each era we could explore all of Star Wars history by way of the TARDIS and just drop by major events or explore times and places they mentioned but haven't spent significant time on for whatever reason. Can someone make that crossover please? I think I need it now.

I noticed some Easter eggs that hasn’t been mentioned that I know of. For example in Episode 1 at 30:15 mark at the foot of the bed is Ezra’s scout trooper helmet he wore in rebels. And Episode 2 at 5:14 Baylon sees Purgill in the clouds. Sooo cool!
