To be fair, some women don’t have a large supply of milk. Some women struggle with it. But that child seems too old…
I agree I don’t think the breast milk is a problem it’s more of the not buying wipes or stealing a changing table or using a used shirt as a diaper….
I was one of those mothers that couldn’t produce enough milk. So getting milk from reliable sources was nice so I didn’t have to use as much formula. Because that stuff is expensive. I do agree that kid was way too old.
My son decided he was done breastfeeding a little after he turned two. It was so painful, I don't understand how she just stopped making milk. just seems fishy lol
The breast milk is 100% the issue! Are y'all insane?! There is no telling what illnesses, diseases, or infections her friends have and I would even wager on the high likelihood that they would not rat themselves out should they have any std's (which, unless you're brain dead, MANY of them can in fact be passed from breast to baby, which is one of the other huge reasons donor organizations exist and why they test every person who donates rigorously). Not to even mention drugs that those women may take or other potentially dangerous substances that her baby may be allergic to or affected by. People: DO NOT BORROW BREAST MILK FROM YOUR FRIENDS! NEWBORNS ARE DELICATE AND CAN DEFINITELY DIE IF YOU GIVE THEM BREAST MILK THAT HASN'T BEEN TESTED!!! There's also no way to ensure the milk was collected and stored with any sanitation in mind. If the friend left it out too long, is sick, drank liquor within a certain timeframe, didn't wash or sanitize the storage containers or the breast pump, or didn't refrigerate/freeze it prior to it being handed over, then it's a disaster just waiting to happen. Hell, even despite our not so great financial situation + my inability to produce yet because our daughter was severely premature/delivered at 29 weeks and we owed a shit ton of money for several months of NICU in addition to my body not producing as it tried to play catch up...I still would NEVER have used breast milk from a friend, family member, or stranger I found online. I would still go through donor organizations and make that drive so I didn't risk my child's life. Poverty and trying to save are not legitimate excuses. Lack of producing is not an excuse. There are benefits to assist women even above the poverty line (which we were by several thousand, yet still were granted snap) that do in fact take a lack in production as a qualifier. That woman can 100% apply for snap benefits and get it through much safer means. And if the kid is too old to meet those qualifications, then it's damn well bloody time to get the kid on regular milk, regular foods, and water. That kid shouldn't have to be forced to drink something potentially dangerous, especially on live fvcking tv. This whole this is absolutely sickening. The breast milk is most definitely a problem and she is no better than an antivaxxer refusing their kid vaccinations out of pure ignorance and wanting to seem bbette/wiser than everyone else (despite actually looking bloody rεⵜαгdεd and like a neglectful parent to the rest of society).

A sweet friend of mine from high school produced a lot of milk. This was just a year or so ago. The couple had fertility issues and didn’t think they could get pregnant. After years of no baby, she got pregnant with a cute lil girl. 😊 She put the excess milk in the freezer and saved it for women in their small farming community that needed help. It brought a tear to my eye that she could and she would.

Sorry u aint trusting that. Idk what nutrients she had when she produced that. For all we know it'll fill the baby up and not give any nutrients. Formula is best for growth while breast is best for baby foods.

Why do people think they have to have a changing table? All I bought was the pad, since it's coated in plastic. You just put that on the floor to protect the carpet, or on the bed to protect the bedding, and if anything leaks out you can easily clean it off the plastic-coated pad. So cheap, so easy, and it's portable. This lady is crazy.
Agreed! I bought one when I had my son because it was on the list on necessary items. I can count on my hand the amount of times I used it. Don't waste your money people!
My little sister (foster family) was also changed on the floor, couch or bed with a simple regular cloth underneath - not even with plastic - and I've seeing pics of my brother and myself (both birth family) on a padded mat on a regular table - with a cloth cover so I don't know if the mat was plastic or not.
I mean if you want a changing table, go for it, but it's really not necessary by any means, especially since kids are already super expensive without stuff like that.
Aren't changing tables pretty outdated in general? Seems that's why so many in the older generation are tapped. Lead in the cribs and headfirst dives off fancy antique tables.
mom of 3 here and never once had (nor wished I had) a changing table. Always seemed like such a pointless piece of furniture to me.

I believe about 15%of women don’t produce enough milk and formula is expensive. Formula has went up $100 atleast! So I completely understand getting milk elsewhere. Also, some cultures breast feed longer for they believe it’s better for their child.

The World Health Organization and American Academy of Pediatrics both say the longer you breastfeed the better it is for the baby.

I have helped someone with a milk supply problem before, and I have tons of friends who have donated to milk banks. Breastmilk being shared isn't as taboo anymore, thankfully.

It was taboo because you can spread serious viruses and bacteria through breast milk or through storing it in non-sterile containers.

All diapers were re-useable cloth diapers until a few decades ago. Never heard of one having a plastic shell though.
The diaper cover has a plasticky fabric that doesnt let liquid through, thats what hes talking about. Its not a hard shell it is just plasticky fabric

Some women can't produce breast milk. There are actually many reasons why a woman could suddenly stopped producing breast milk even if she's healthy. There's also a condition called elastic nipple where breast pumps make it harder to produce breast milk. There's actually breast milk exchange programs to help mothers and families who are going through issues of this type.
Furthermore some families want their children to remain on breast milk so if the mother is unable to produce they will often find these programs to help them.
Wet nurses have been helping in this way since forever.

Yeah. I've been reading up on ancient Chinese history and I find it fascinating how noble houses handle breastfeeding. Somehow, noble women and women from the royal family are not allowed to breastfeed their babies. They will already have at least two wet nurses available, which are nursing mothers hired from commoner families. They are brought in early on then isolated and treated well to ensure that they are eating healthy and have no conditions WHATSOEVER (even if it's just a tiny rash or dandruff 😅). Sometimes, they are not allowed to go out and their movements are monitored because they are one of the ways the families' enemies can harm the babies. They're scared that the wet nurse can eat foods that can affect their milk and cause reactions on the baby or even poisoning. It's a veeeery lucrative job but pretty dangerous, coz your entire family can sometimes be used as a collateral.

Okay, I've only been able to produce milk for at most 3 weeks. Then my body just stops. I was so lucky to have a sister in law who gave me her extras once her babies got bigger. It really helped me

Born 91 here, my parents used cloth diapers. Back then there was a service that would collect, wash and restock you with clean ones. Services like that probably don't exist any more with how normalized disposable diapers are
My parents did tht with my sister and me in the late 80s/90s. You cam still have a laundry service pick up clothes, but I have no idea abt cloth diapers lol
I saw a documentary and selling breast milk is a VERY lucrative industry and when I say lucrative I’m talking over $100 million dollar industry. The documentary goes on to explain the women that provide the breast milk have to go through physicals & various testing to ensure they’re healthy & not on any substances. There’s an agency that acts like a middle man between the mother buying the milk & the one providing it. I got the impression that it’s one of the many things rich people do to make their lives easier. Maybe the mother can’t produce enough milk or honestly doesn’t want to be bothered with the process of pumping & they hire the agency to find a mother willing to sell her milk.

As some who WORE cloth diapers as a baby, way back when (I had an allergy to the chemicals they used to put in the disposables at the time, apparently), I remember seeing the old style ones around, and occasionally my Mom still would use one on my brothers when thwy were little in a pinch (aka, we ran out of the disposables). You're right Ken, the cloth ones don't really save money or the environment that much because of how much laundry you need to do because of them. They also need changed MORE often (the disposable ones can hold up to a bit of wetness a LOT better, especially during the day). Seemed like the cloth ones, as soon as any little dribble got on them, they needed changed because baby was uncomfortable and rashes would develop faster if left for even a short amount of time.

Some women don't produce enough breast milk, no matter how often they feed or how soon they give birth. I don't think sharing breast milk is that weird especially if you are close with the person or related. Ever heard of a wet nurse? Just my opinion🤷. I do agree that the other stuff she does is weird.

There is a breast milk bank were some mothers donate for women who can't lactate in India. It helped atleast 200 infants in my city according to their report. This is India btw. Bangladesh decided to ban it as giving breast milk automatically makes the baby the daughter or son according to islam. Which could potentially lead to incest if a mother's milk shared and given to too many babies, Which is asinine.

I use cloth diapers during the day and disposals during the night as well as when not at home.
It definitely makes laundry a constant struggle.
Using cloth diapers and breastfeeding has saved so much money for our family.

Cloth diapers are great! The only downside is they are expensive and yeah the laundry.....BUT if you get in the habit of rinsing and handwashing them in the sink and letting them airdry on a rack, you can save on that laundry Ken. They airdry quickly once the waters out. You get a good stockpile of liners and shells, the disposables are best saved for travelling.
I have always been an "undersupplier" when it comes to breastfeeding, but thankfully, I have been able to afford formula to supplement. But I know some Moms who have donated, and I am in a group on Facebook for any Moms who want to donate and/or ask for donor milk. Donating breastmilk for many different reasons is a beautiful thing to me!! As long as it's going to a child in need, I feel like it's a great thing.
That being said... this Mom is definitely taking things to a whole new level as far as saving money lol that diaper changing table was something special 😅😂

They also make reusable pads, and adult diapers (my partners grandma is in hospice and i had asked if they made the diapers like these pads and if we could get those cause she goes through more diapers than a baby does, which surprised me).
I thought the pads would gross me out, got them as a present from my mother for christmas this past year, honestly- tried them cause i was low on pads and too lazy/cramps to go to the store. was genuinely super pleasantly suprised that they hold MORE, dont chaff your existence to oblivion, and less worry about it like shifting to a side and making a mess on your pants or something. Also saving money. The whole washing thing was gross for like, one whole day to me, while i figured it all out, then i realised i mean, thier getting washed in the laundry ( they get thier own load cause im still iffy about it) and thier just as clean after as any other clothes id wear. So despite me thinking they'd be nasty af, im actually super happy that i switched. also, ALOT less swamp ass in the middle of hot texas weather, goddamn they are so absorbant.
TLDR: Cloth pads/diapers are really awesome. and a HUGE money saver. try em out, even if they gross you out.
I'm genuinely curious, how many reusable pads would someone need to have though? Obviously would depend on flow, but, like, roughly in a day or a week? 🤔
Also guessing it would depend on how often you'd want to wash them and all that. I feel like the ones I've seen are somewhat pricey, but they are reusable, so probably worth it over a span of time as long as they last.

@@vaderladyl yeah, definitely!! I know this from firsthand experience, too. Long time ago, back when Joe Rogan was still the host, I was on Fear Factor. And, despite the fact that my teammate and I were totally getting along with all the other couples (as we had been together at the hotel, and at the doctor checkup we all had to do, etc) they told us to talk shit to each other and be adversarial when the cameras were rolling to add to the drama. So, I have always since then looked at all "reality" tv with a skewed and skeptical eye.

My milk stopped when my firstborn was 3 months. I had Rota Virus and I was severly dehydrated and it dissapeared in 3 days. Even though it continued, but in very small amounts. Like 30ml a day. So yeah, I can relate to the "renting my friends milk"

sharing / donating breast milk has been normal for all of human history, there are even milk banks. as amazing as formula is, having saved countless infants over the generations, breast is still best when it's an option.
In relation to the breast milk sharing thing, that’s still totally normal to me, especially if you have people you know and trust who are willing to donate. I’m an over producer and I’ve been lucky enough to be able to help a friend from church who had her son the same time as me and her supply plummeted suddenly. I understand how that could seem weird, but at the end of the day breast milk is breast milk. And yes, fed is best but formula is virtually unaffordable nowadays so finding donors can be a huge blessing.

Ok the T-shirt diaper is last-resort, ran outta diapers at the amusement park or lake or what have you, survival situation pinch hitter for real diapers. It’s the “just for the ride home” band-aid you never tell your friends about. And the t-shirt is summarily burned after. (We had this happen once, and my husband rigged the shirt via some origami sorcery)

I couldn’t produce breast milk when I gave birth to my son and when we had a milk shortage and people on the streets was charging out the ass for some formula luckily I had a friend who was willingly to donate some breastmilk to me to help out

Feel so sorry for these kids as yes kids can be expensive and there are ways to cut corners to save having them. My sister-in-law had the cloth diapers for her two daughters. She showed me how it all worked and it does save, but the set she had was expensive though they went through two kids (barely). She would agree with Ken the washing machine was always going. My husband and I just had the mat for changing with two washable covers. So much cheaper then the changing tables and worked well for us given the convivence. Even had a little make shift caddy to hold diapering supplies. Now our pack and play also had a changing spot on it which helped as well when it came to diapering.

When I had my first one I gotten a wooden changing table that I just put on top of the dresser I had at the time. I cleaned it and I would just whipe it down when done. But once baby was a year I got tired of it so I just changed them on floor or couch lolol 😂

@@fineapple9299 I personally stopped with my daughter when she was roughly 18 months. She was weaned to only nighttime feeding, and she was comfort feeding at that point. The teeth were killer, too.
I know some women choose to breastfeed longer, but I’ve heard most women stop around 18 months. Props to your friends mom for breastfeeding so long!! There are so many benefits to it, I am not going to deny that.
But, from my understanding, it is not nutritionally needed when they’re able to drink whole milk and eat solids! :)

I've done the homemade baby wipes when I was too broke to buy actual wipes, put em in a ziplock bag and they stay moist lol

As a former hard dr*g addict… please don’t bring a changing table into your home. I never put any substances on them but I know most addicts wouldn’t think twice if it’s the only surface available in the bathroom. Please be careful and always wipe them down or bring a changing pad or towel or something like that to use as a barrier between the surface and your child’s skin.

You can sell breast milk for $4-5 per ounce. It’s called liquid gold. One of my babies was premature and my milk had not come in yet. The hospital had a supply of breast milk it bought and I was able to feed my premie for a few days until my milk came in. It was such a blessing.

I do want to say, i did lose my breast milk supply when my baby was 6 months old and not from lack of feeding her... she would scream while trying to eat but get nothing and the drs found out i was sick and needed surgery. Losing breast milk isnt always from a lacl of trying

I used cloth diapers with my kids, and I would definitely say that if you want to do them you need to get quality covers and inserts or there will be poop everywhere. You will also do a lot of laundry so watch for how much it increases your utility bills, but overall its probably cheaper than disposable diapers. Would not suggest trying to fashion an old t-shirt into one. Also I made a stack of changing pads and changed on the floor. Fabric is cheap and you just need to make a big square to change on so pretty simple.

Baby formula is so expensive because WIC pays for a lot of it. Since the government is never going to say "I'm not paying for that, it's too expensive", the companies are free to raise the prices.
If you get the government out of the baby feeding business, the prices will come way down.
I don't think so. Everything is up because of inflation. The problem is more likely from the formula shortage.
Isnt that a problem with the companies raising prices then the government? Half the reason why the wic dont work properly is bcuz of corporation lobbying against social services being funded and politicians cutting off these programs bcuz they hate the poor

For my niece we just had that changing pad thing, and put it either on the floor or on the washing machine when changing diapers or clothes. Dont really need a full changing table, cause then you have to go to that exact spot to change the baby instead of just being able to move the pad around easily for your own convenience.
When I was babysitting my niece when she was a baby all we had was this thin plastic thing to put underneath her and we just changed her on the bed, couch, floor, whatever. Very portable. Very cheap. Or just use an old towel or something. You don't need an entire piece of furniture dedicated to changing diapers.
You dont need a changing table you can just use the floor. Also just a wet rag or a shower sprayer can replace wipes.

OK, the changing table makes me laugh! I save money by changing my babies ON THE FLOOR OR THE BED!! Just cover it with a changing pad, you don't even need a special table for that. 🤦♀️🤣

I spent so much time pumping extra milk for a friend of mine who couldn’t produce milk. I kept her supplied with enough milk that her baby didn’t have to drink formula for the first year of her life. It’s a lot of work to make all that extra milk. Makes you tired! But most ladies don’t breastfeed after about 24 months.

This is so old the kid is grown up now, I wonder how she feels about the gas station changing table and abandoned broken toys left by other children, along with the basically stranger breast milk (I doubt her mom screened these women), oh also her mom's crusty thrift store lingerie.

I have triplets and their brother is barely a year older. Formula was insane and that's when it was around 25 a can. I couldn't imagine these days. It's ridiculous. I would have became homeless.
