Long ago I asked my much older brother about concerts he'd seen and he mentioned a lot of bands I'd heard of and some I came to know later. One band he mentioned as being a great show was Black Oak Arkansas . I've only saw them on CZcams but man they sure looked and sounded fantastic from what I have seen. Just superb talent on every instrument and the most charismatic vocalist I've ever seen. Jim was born for the stage

It's nice to take a break from the whole election fraud mess and listen to good old Jim Dandy talk about his amazing life for a change! His stories always make me forget about the depressing state of the country today and put a smile on my face! 👍

I was 12 years old when High on the Hog came out. I was like, OH HELL YEAH!! I was learning to play guitar and we were getting hit with BOA, Grand Funk, Captain Beyond, BTO and like. Good times!! Thank you, Jim!

I still have a mint edition LP of BOA’s “Raunch ‘N’ Roll - Live”, which has the deed to 1 sq inch of land in Arkansas!
Maybe I should visit that “land” and make sure there are no squatters on my property!!! :)

Jim has alot of respect for his fellow bands, especially the Rolling Stones it seems. I seen the Stones in Tennessee in the 70s in like a Huge field. It was wild! Ive seen Black Oak twice, and maybe three times, but i dont remember shit that third time. 🤥🤘Lol. Keep the videos coming Piper

  • @Nonconformistwilderbeastman

I bet it's hard to remember exactly how things were in the 70's in certain casino uh I mean 😆 cases lol I was a kid way back in the 70's I remember being in the car with my family going on vacation in 1973 Jim Dandy to the rescue was playing and we were all singing the part go Jim Dandy go smiling laughing and having a very good time while eating mcdonald's LoL 🤘✌️❤️🌟😎🙏🐸 sure am glad I'm still living and can still remember good stuff like that and a bunch of other good stuff makes me look forward to the next tomorrow I have some Black Oak Arkansas vinyl albums use to record them on cassette and jam them while Joy riding and fishing in the ozarks along with bowl of ozarks gold 😆 flying high 🖖🌟😎

Yep. Sucks. In a similar vein, I've played big venue chamber of commerce gigs with every food/beverage/snack booth you could imagine...but I only had 10+ minutes between sets to sample the wares. (Last set & you watch the St. Pauli girls & wine/cheese kiosks close up while you're playing 'Cellllllllllll-e-brate Good Times' - Grrr!) And other gigs where I'm 'captive' on stage for 3 hours while my girlfriend gets to roam & be friendly with whoever(!)

I have a Jim Dandy story that I hope he don't mind I tell which I am sure he wouldn't. I was the drummer for a band that backed up Black Oak in the late 80's if memory serves, at a club called Easy Streets in the Ohio area. It was not the original line up but a more heavy metal Black Oak at the time. So in the bathroom after we did our set we were hanging with the band and Jim Dandy while they were getting ready to do their set. By the way the whole band including Dandy were great to us unknowns and treated us with nothing but kindness and respect and to this day I respect them for that. Anyway our bass player was prescribed Xanax and while talking to Dandy he poured out more than a few in his hand as he always did to take a couple then pour the rest in the bottle. Well when he poured them in his hand Dandy asked him what they were and the bass player told him what they were and offered him a couple but before our bass player could finish asking, Dandy just snatched every one out of his hand and downed them before anyone could say a word.
So Black Oak went up and was doing great till about half way through their set when Dandy started swaggering more and more to the point where he wound up just laying in front of the drum riser and passing out then and there right on the stage in the middle of the set. So we wound up having to finish the night because he was out for the night, 6 or more Xanax will tend to do that to ya, lol.
Anyhoo that's my Jim Dandy story, not trashing Dandy mind you because as I said they were a great bunch of guys who didn't let stardom go to their heads, just sharing a very fond memory of a man that surely lived the rock and roll life and I was lucky enough to be part of it, if for only one night. :)

@@TheRealPiperDandy does your Dad or Ricky own and control the master recordings of the BOA catalog ? It would be great to see their albums get repressed from the master tapes . Are you into collecting vinyl , Piper ? Right now , collectors are looking for great analog recordings and BOA has some great ones . If it was done right , it could make your Dad some money . Those ole boy's deserve it , they paved the way for a lot of bands .
