Here's my Top 39 for Eurovision 2010, the start of a new decade! Although I think the modern era of Eurovision probably started in 2009. Hope you enjoy!
A decent start to a new decade, but quite weak compared to many other years to come. I feel that this year had a lot of elements from the previous decade, but I think the winner of this year ended representing pretty well what direction the contest ended up taking. I'm also very happy with the results from this year, and the actual Top 3 might be one of the strongest ones ever for me. Below is my Top 5 1. Germany 🇩🇪 2. Turkey 🇹🇷 3. Romania 🇷🇴 4. Slovakia 🇸🇰 5. Belgium 🇧🇪
I guess we Dutch dislike Shalalie so much because it represents a musical style that's considered really dated and cheap, low quality, kinda "lower class" I would say. Not the kind of "modern and contemporary" music most people would want to see representing us. On top of that, the selection process was a total shitshow that year and people were incredibly annoyed. I'm glad though that in 2022 we've proven that the Dutch language can be absolutely fantastic in Eurovision.
Wow I think this is the first time I've ever seen someone putting Ireland up there. I remember voting it for a few times during the final and it gives me unexplainable goosebumps everytime I hear the last part.
Wow, never seen Netherlands _this_ high on a 2010 top. xD The Dutch love to hate on this entry, but I'm glad someone can see the charm of it. And love to see Finland so high up, it's so much fun!
My top 10 is a bit particular: 10th: Slovakia 9th: Denmark 8th: Azerbaijan 7th: Moldova 6th: Albania 1st: Belgium, Israel, Germany, Turkey and Romania About Niamh Kavanagh's entry, I prefer the one from 1993, which is one of my favorite entries ever.
In both songs and production, 2010 was a bit weaker than 2009. However, it doesn't mean it's without its perks--the flash mob was a definite highlight, for example! In addition, we have one of the strongest NQ classes (two of them are in my top ten, but I also love SWE, FIN, CRO, and EST too!) ever, along with what I see as the best top three of the decade. Honorable mentions to CYP (it's not that bad, to be honest! I really like the calming instrumental of this one), FRA, and ALB. My top ten: 1 pt: SVK (the poster child of all "robbed" entries...Definitely deserved a place in the final instead of Belarus, but it's at times too sedate. I prefer Modlitba to this, and maybe Amnestia na Neveru...) 2 pt: BEL 3 pt: LTU (Is it bad this is my favorite Lithuanian entry? It's equal parts fun and thoughtful, and I always have a good time dancing to it.) 4 pt: ISR 5 pt: GRE 6 pt: DEN 7 pt: GER 8 pt: ROU -- This was jarring at first, but everything about this reminds me of a musical number! The tension between Paula and Ovi, the punctuated instrumental, and the general vibe of this combines into a powerful spark! It's such a flirtatious jam, and I like it very much. 10 pt: TUR -- You will probably get some praise from Turkish fans for putting this above Lena, haha. That said, We Could Be the Same is a bona fide classic, with all the energy and power that rock songs have. The stage performance was also compelling--it really told the story of the song well. 12 pt: UKR -- But less is more in this case, especially with such a riveting song as Sweet People. The studio cut is good, but the stage performance is even stronger. The minimalist staging is out of character for what we know of Ukraine, but Alyosha has a sweet voice that punctuates the rawness of the song, which elevates it further. It's all that it needs, and it's probably my favorite complete entry of the 2010s.
From your top 8 8 excellent 100/100 7 awesome 100/100 6 not a fan 5 very good 100/100 4 outstanding 100/100 3 not a fan 2 love it 100/100 1 magnificent 100/100 plus star
39- I think that this is nice, just forgettable 38- A nice voice but again forgettable 37- I was lost on this one 36- A true guilty pleasure and I'm all for it 35- It was sweet. You can tell that their English is poor though 34- This could have made the final but I don't know why it didn't 33- Our entry, cheesy and poor sadly 32- Her voice annoys me and what is that backing dancer doing? 31- This is a huge grower on me. A great performance 30- She should have been in the final hands down 29- A lovely song and a great voice 28- A bunch of old men trying to emulate Bucks fizz. Badly thought through. 27- I think this is a great song, the staging and style is very cool 26- This is just too odd. A bit like Israel 2007 without an annoying singer 25- This is so Greek but absolutely brilliant. OPA! 24- My favourite, je t'adore je ne sais quoi 23- A good song, but not amazing 22- Baby Spice trying to impress. It gets dull after a while 21- The only reason I like this is for the Epic Sax Guy 20- This should have been France's World Cup song. It's a banger 19- Despite Jimmy Jump's well performed cameo, it was a good song 18- A lovely song and voice. Shame about the big note 17- This song gets better as it goes on and it's a great finale 16- Beyoncé's choreographer was used for this, and he did a professional-ish job. It was a good song 15- Interesting, I like it but I hate it as well 14- A great voice and an important message 13- This is so fun. A really catchy song with an entertaining singer 12- Probably the strongest ballad of the year 11- So cheesy. You can tell Norway didn't want to win again 10- I thought this was a deserved winner. Catchy song and Lena is fun to listen too 9- Personally, rubbish and annoying 8- A good performance. Paula has an incredible voice and the staging is cool 7- A guilty pleasure but I absolutely love it, it's so cute and refreshing 6- A good song, it had a nice traditional feel to it 5- Very dramatic, I like it 4- Jolly, entertaining and that's the performers alone 3- A great performance, it has a nice gospel feel to it 2- This got annoying all too quickly 1- A lovely song and Niamh deserved a higher finish
Many good songs this year. 3 winners. Why not... : 1. Ireland, Israel and Belgium - 4. Finland - 5. Spain - 6. Portugal - 7. Denmark - 8. Malta - 9. Cyprus - 10. Norway.
It's a good start to the decade. It has many good songs, but also many bad ones. 39: It's not bad, but it is far away from being good. I agree with you. It's quite boring. 38: I am kinda surprised that you put this quite low. I like this one. 37: I feel like the biggest problem with this song is how forgettable it is. It's fine, just forgettable. 36: In my opinion, I feel like there are some entries that are worse than this one. It is a little catchy, I guess? 35: The butterfly wings thing is kind of interesting to me, but other than that, this should not have qualified. 34: I enjoy it. That's it. I just enjoy it. 33: Why did you not put this last? This song is just bad! The song? Bad. The vocals? Bad. The staging? Really the only thing that I like about it. The rest of the entry? BAD. I feel like you should've put Bulgaria's song over this one at least! 32: The song is good, but the staging is not the greatest. Especially the "wings". Speaking of Malta, why did they send so many ballads? 31: It's nice to see Switzerland sing in French again. The song is alright and his voice is nice. 30: As a Swede, it feels really weird to know that at one point we did not qualify. I can somewhat see why though. The song isn't bad or anything. It just had the same problem as 37. 29: Really? This song that low? I really enjoy this song, and he really seems like a sweet person. I am happy that it did well in the finals! 28: It's kinda weird to see you rank a joke entry quite low, considering that you (and me) like joke entries. I like the staging, and the lights in the background with the stick figures are funny. 27: In my opinion. it's neither bad nor good. I like the song and the music, but it also feels a little...irritating? I don't know. 26: Why does this one get so much hate? There is nothing wrong with the song or the vocals, and the different genres make this entry one of the most original ones that year! 25: Even if 25th is a good place, assuming that you like all of the 24 upcoming songs, I wish that you put this higher! it's a fun entry, and it's one of my favorites! 24: I agree with you. It tries to be as strong as its entry in 2008, but it fails at doing so. But that does not mean that it is bad! It's quite good. 23: How did this not qualify? Out of all the songs Slovakia sent, this one should have qualified! The song is nice and the staging is very cool! 22: Do I like it? No. Do I hate it? A little. The lyrics are the main problem. I don't know why, but they irritate me. 21: Honestly, if you strip the sax bits off of the song, then it feels kind of lackluster. If we don't think about the memes for a second, this song is good and the staging, while a little crazy, is cool. 20: Like 25, I really wish that you put this higher! I get that it can be repetitive, but otherwise, it's a lot of fun! I would not mind a single bit if this won. 19: I like this one. The staging is cool and the song is nice. He really handled that stage invasion amazingly, as well! 18: It's a beautiful song with nice vocals (if we ignore the mess-up near the end). I feel like it should have gotten a better placement. 17: I agree with you! If it was over-produced and had worse lyrics, it would just sound like a basic romantic pop song. 16: One of my favorites from that year. The song is great, her voice is nice and the staging is cool. the lyrics are very good as well. 15: My favorite entry of 2010, and probably one of my favorite entries from the entire 2010s! I feel like the best way to describe the entire song is this comment: "I actually have no clue how to express the love I have for this performance. it's just so weirdly and subtly hilarious to me to the point where I don't even know if it's satirical or not. the pianist going absolutely wild, much wilder than necessary. the way the singer keeps weirdly staring into the camera as if he's asking a question and moving the mic next to his head. his iconic dance moves. the way he randomly moves his feet around. the perfect height differences of the back singers. the way they repeat the camera movement where it just revolves around the singer and then moves on to the back singers FIVE times in one performance (twice in a row, and then thrice in a row at the end). the magnificent ending. the way the song is actually really really good. I seriously don't know how to explain the emotions this makes me feel but it sure as hell is one of my favorite Eurovision performances". 14: Ukraine, of course, knows what's up when it comes to staging, and this is definitely not an exception! The simple red lights work amazingly with this amazing rock ballad! 13: This is such a weird entry that I can't tell if it is a joke entry or not. The song and lyrics are quite funny, and the staging is actually a little cool. 12: Probably my favorite ballad entry from this year. From a powerful voice to awesome lyrics, this song is pristine (is "pristine the best word to use here?). 11: Another great entry from Norway. It has vocals and a good song. The only problem here for me is that it is a little forgettable. 10: The first out of 2 entries from the big five to win. It's a pop song that is very easy to enjoy. I think the simple staging helps this entry. Also, real quick on your comment about how "everyone else enjoyed the song as well". I think the only people who don't like this song are the Turks who really wanted MaNga to win. 9: It came 2nd in the final, and it is also my 2nd favorite song from 2010! This is how a rock entry in Eurovision should be done. It has great music and amazing staging. This is what a rock entry should be. 8: Another one of my favorite entries! The dual piano is weird but cool, the high note from Paula is amazing and the song is just...WOW. It really deserved 3rd place. 7: Interesting that you put this in the top 10! Many lists have put this song below the top 30, and it makes me a little sad. It's a very funny entry with a nice staging. 6: This song deserved the placement it got! It has a very catchy chorus, great verses and crazy staging! 5: The song is good, but the staging definitely takes this one to higher levels. Should it have qualified? I wanna say yes, but I feel like it not qualifying would make room for better entries to qualify... 4: ...and this is one of them! It's a very catchy song with lyrics in Finnish (which we don't see a lot of anymore) and simple staging. 3: This is quite the forgettable entry to me. The song is alright and everything else is good, but it is very forgettable. 2: I am actually kind of happy to see this entry so high up on your list! If this is a joke entry, then it is done amazingly! If it isn't, then it still is! His vocals are not bad either, and that high note is great! 1: It is very nice to see you put Niamh in the number one spot! Kind of like Iceland, while it is not as good as "In your eyes", It's still an amazing Irish ballad! This song should have placed alot higher, considering it's Niamh we are talking about.

@@MustiiForTheWin Well, I've never been a fan of the song. Azerbaijan has done much better in other years, this year they just went for a really generic pop song which I just couldn't enjoy.
@@therealbricker Azerbaijan (i'm from Azerbaijan btw), Turkey, Moldova and Belarus were my favs in 2010. Sadly, only my country 🇦🇿 and our best brothers 🇹🇷 reached top 5.
We hate Sieneke's entry for good reasons. The organ is the worst ethnic thing we've ever come up with, the song is one of those 'it's so annoying that it's catchy for a bad reason' types, and Dutch itself never sounds like a good singing language. Noticeable, because we've never sung in Dutch again since.
A decent start to a new decade, but quite weak compared to many other years to come. I feel that this year had a lot of elements from the previous decade, but I think the winner of this year ended representing pretty well what direction the contest ended up taking. I’ve finally met someone who doesn’t underrate Albania like that song is my winner and has been for a long time now.
lmao my second place for this year being your last place is kinda funny. It's all good though.
Same winner!
Well, I genuinely like Cyprus, it was one of my favs in 2010
Belarus was my 5th😂😂
Your last place is my first place, whoops 😭 nice taste though
My top 10 is a bit particular:
10th: Slovakia
9th: Denmark
8th: Azerbaijan
7th: Moldova
6th: Albania
1st: Belgium, Israel, Germany, Turkey and Romania
About Niamh Kavanagh's entry, I prefer the one from 1993, which is one of my favorite entries ever.
Thank you for putting Russia so high. That’s my all time favourite Eurovision song

It's a good start to the decade. It has many good songs, but also many bad ones.
39: It's not bad, but it is far away from being good. I agree with you. It's quite boring.
38: I am kinda surprised that you put this quite low. I like this one.

35: The butterfly wings thing is kind of interesting to me, but other than that, this should not have qualified.

16: One of my favorites from that year. The song is great, her voice is nice and the staging is cool. the lyrics are very good as well.
15: My favorite entry of 2010, and probably one of my favorite entries from the entire 2010s! I feel like the best way to describe the entire song is this comment:
"I actually have no clue how to express the love I have for this performance. it's just so weirdly and subtly hilarious to me to the point where I don't even know if it's satirical or not. the pianist going absolutely wild, much wilder than necessary. the way the singer keeps weirdly staring into the camera as if he's asking a question and moving the mic next to his head. his iconic dance moves. the way he randomly moves his feet around. the perfect height differences of the back singers. the way they repeat the camera movement where it just revolves around the singer and then moves on to the back singers FIVE times in one performance (twice in a row, and then thrice in a row at the end). the magnificent ending. the way the song is actually really really good.
Ireland isn’t my winner. But damn is it so underrated/overhated

Azerbaijan so low?!
@@MustiiForTheWin Well, I've never been a fan of the song. Azerbaijan has done much better in other years, this year they just went for a really generic pop song which I just couldn't enjoy.
@@therealbricker and what about Belarus last?! It's a lovely song!
@@MustiiForTheWin It's one of the most painful and irritating ballads in Eurovision for me. But good for you if you enjoy it!
Aw, I love the way Dutch sounds! I think it works great as a singing language.
