Eurovision Song Contest 2010: My Top 39 (with comments)

- Finally pulled myself away from Baldurs Gate 3 to rank some Eurovision songs! It's been over two years since I ranked a Eurovision year outside of the current year we're in, so it's time to get back onto that horse again :) Today we're going through 2010, a year that I personally loved although some Swedes will probably think "ah yes, the year we failed to qualify". Hope you enjoy!
HOW ARE SONGS RANKED?
Songs are ranked on the likelihood of me listening to them. Because to me, if I wanna listen to a song more, it means it's a good song. The country that sent the entry does NOT matter - no country is favored more than the other just because I like the country. I'm basing this only on the song and the artist/group performing it. Otherwise countries like San Marino, Estonia and Serbia would be ranked higher as I tend to like their songs more than other countries.
WHAT'S WITH THE COMMENTS?
I can have very strong opinions at times, but I've done my best to be as constructive as I can, and I've tried to point out something positive in each entry. None of my comments are meant as attacks towards the artists - all of the participants are talented and deserve lots of credit for making it to Eurovision! I'm sorry if any of my comments offend anyone, it is not my goal. My goal is to express my thoughts and potentially provide some insightful details that some people may not have noticed.
WHO ARE YOU? (last updated May 2023)
I am a Swedish 26 year-old man who has followed Eurovision and Melodifestivalen for as long as I can remember, but my first memory is from 2002. I'm a member of OGAE Sweden and I even co-host a Swedish Eurovision podcast called "Sa Du Schlager?!" together with a few friends. I've been to several live shows of Melodifestivalen and I follow every national selection religiously every year. Alongside making videos on CZcams, I'm also studying to become a professional video editor. My hobbies include singing, sewing, playing video games (preferably older ones), collecting vinyl records and gardening. Music has a huge part in my life and I listen to it pretty much 24/7. Ever since 2018 I've released a weekly music chart every Monday on my Instagram titled the "Weekly Roundup", where I showcase my 7 most played songs from the previous week. I'm an all-eater when it comes to music - there aren't many genres I'm not a fan of - but pop music usually sticks to me very easily, along with the occasional rock song.

What a legendary pick for #1. Not my favorite of this year but it's still my favorite Finnish entry by a wide margin. Even more than Cha Cha Cha.

I like your top, and to be honest that year is so unique for me, because it was my first year in university (so I didn't have the time to explore the songs before the show) and my country had just gone bankrupt, so, we were pretty indifferent to what would happen. (Our representative, actually, had a brilliant career with numerous hits years before and he made an unexpected comeback with "Opa", only to disappear again from the spotlight).
Now, as for my top. My winner would be Belgium back in the days, and I really love his voice and the song, but I'm not sure if it is anymore. Romania is a timeless gem, Georgia gave a phenomenal stage performance and I also love Goran Bregovic's vibes in Serbia's track.

And I agree, Romania really has stood the test of time. I think it would've done very well if it competed today :)
