For the music, I feel like this and 2008 are quite similar in that the good entries of the year are really really good, but the bad entries are really really bad. I feel like that's one of the problems with the televoting era. My top ten (honorable mentions to MLD, MKD, ARM, and ISL): 1 pt: AND (I actually didn't notice the vocals there! The song had a good message, and it kind of reminded me of songs from the Plain White Ts) 2 pt: UKR 3 pt: GRE 4 pt: FIN 5 pt: SLO (also the only operatic song at Eurovision I have ever loved) 6 pt: RUS (Oh man, I love this! The production sounds a bit basic, but I love the attitude the song brings and the saucy lyrics. Plus I love the girls' costumes) 7 pt: BLG 8 pt: SRB - Molitva is a beautiful piece, with powerful lyrics and a very tormented performance. Basically one of the absolute classics at Eurovision. 10 pt: HUN - But Unsubstantial Blues delivers just as well on the angst front. I love the bluesy sound of it all, and I also admire Magdi's performance. Everything just speaks to the heart and it really rocks (though at times I wonder if it's my second or third). 12 pt: GEO - And we have the same winner! Visionary Dream is a psychedelia kaleidoscope, with drama and intensity. And swords. :)
This is the peak of 2000’s Eurovision, and easily the best of this millennium in my view. The insane amount of diversity in both genre and language makes this a year pretty much anyone can find something they love in this bunch, and I personally have 20+ songs I find Top 10 worthy. A year with high highs and low lows. The highs are so good that the very best entries of 2007 far outclass many other years' best songs. Gerogia, Bulgaria, Slovenia, Finland, Serbia, Ireland and so many others.
This year was still a bit overly saturated with jokey entries for my own taste, but it's an overall good year. Georgia is just really amazing though, it's my #3 debut on my top 52 debuts list.

This year should have already been with two semifinals. 28 countries in one semifinal fighting for ten vacancies and a few automatic finalists with weak songs was rather unfair.
I don't know what it is, but we always seem to disagree about the quality of different years (except 2005 apparently), because I think 2007 was not that great. It had a whole lot of filler, meh, and bland songs that were mostly contributed by the AQs of this year. Speaking of the AQs, huzzah! This is the last year with the awful 1 semi-final rule that cost Andorra their first and only spot in the final. Besides the songs, the stage in my opinion is the worst we have seen in the 2000s. Yes even worse than 2001. This year is also the penultimate time my winner will match the actual winner. Congrats to Serbia! 2008 is next and it is a big step-up from this year. 42. Belgium 41.
