Man, that new oil was so clean and clear I couldn't see it on the stick till it dripped, also, my tiger cat now has 12 hours so I was getting ready to change the oil for the 1st time, your video showed me just how easy that is on the scag, Thanks!
KenMows4U Lawn Care yeah oil was still clean but was recommend to change at specific hour. I tried making it clear enough, because there isn't any videos that show you this type of mower
Bothers me that so many people told him he was wrong with the oil. It depends on where you live and how hot it gets. My Tiger Cat II has several types of oil listed and temperature ranges. I'm guessing he lives in a warm summer climate so the thicker oil is needed. Excellent video, I'm doing my first oil change on mine today and though it seemed pretty intuitive (and I was right) I wanted to see someone do it first. I have a lot of cash in that mower and want it in tip top shape when I decide to sell it later.
Samantha Fisher thank you! And yes I was debating on what oil to use seen many reviews online that were different. So I went to the place where we bought the scag and asked them what oil to use. They recommended this one.
007connecticut I'm having fun right now to in the damn morning and I'm still in my garage working on my mower the blade keeps cutting off and now won't even start back up I'm hoping it's a loose wire and not my clutch.... had it for 2 years got it because they're supposed to be one of the top dogs I was actually looking at Dixie Chopper but I've already had a blown motor and now stuff's going on with my PTO. My blades SMH if I wanted this much of a headache I would have got me a Toro... same problems cheaper parts;-) and it's really being frustrating since I just got done with carpal tunnel surgery 2 weeks ago so it's kind of hard to wrench but the yard is getting really bad since I haven't been able to appreciate you reaching out
PTO switch. I had trouble with mine and I replaced it. Scag had a bad run of PTO switches. They cost like $20 and you can replace them in 5 minutes. In my machine the engine wouldn't start sometimes so I let the dealer play with it. They wiggle the PTO switch side to side to see if the blades turn off or the engine cuts out. They replaced another electrical part and the engine was good after. But the PTO would not start the blades sometimes. After what they told me I swapped the switch, Machine is perfect now. Good luck with yours.
Tiger Cat II owner's manual recommends SAE 10W-50 if ambient temperatures while mowing are often above 104 degrees F. That might be why the shop told him to use the 50, it does appear sunny and warm where he shot this video.
I hope everything ended up alright for you not trying to rip on you I know from learning the hard way the first year I had it I blew a motor luckily it was still under warranty and these things I thought were supposed to be driven hard put away wet that's why they use them on the highways I thought.... the only difference is well I had a Briggs & Stratton 30 horsepower when I bought it and for some reason the replacement motors that you get our 27 horse and you can't even find a 30 horse for sale anywhere on the internet something's up with that but that's not Scag that's Briggs & Stratton! I love how them genius engineer is also put on my motor the oil drain line next to the hydraulic oil filter so the first time I did it I got confused and took off the wrong filter when it's actually on the opposite end of the motor when they are running good they are bad machines
yeah i did a lot of research on the oil and saw both types of oil but then when to the store where i bought the machine and they told me it was this type. hope they didnt f me up or else ill go back. still under warrenty if anything happens. these machines are beast

20w 50 huh? I believe that's for your hydraulic pumps your motor should have SAE 30 I have the same one

Samantha Fisher. I agree with your comment. I need to go back to my owners manual and check to see if mine is ready for the first oil change
Kawasaki 10 W 40 is what it takes that’s why Kawasaki recommends
i thought it was 20w50 on the hydraulic oil and sae 30 for the engine oil
Palermo no hydraulic is different says on the manual.
vBello18 ok. My 2010 manual says hydraulic is 20w-50 maybe it has changed
Laptop :)
oil engine is different from hydraulic they said. sorry for late reply
20W50 is your Hydraulic fluid! Maybe 20W 50 is too thick for the engine. Use a 30W oil like Royal Purple synthetic. Later
007connecticut you're absolutely correct I have the same mower SAE 30 is for the motor 2050 is for your hydraulic pumps for your drive
When I bought the mower I was intimated by the hydro unit, but after I studied the mower, servicing it is fairly easy. Thanks for watching!
