Harbor freight has good deals for stuff like this. If you ever do this, just keep in the back of your mind never to trust it. So if you jack it up high to work on the machine, just block it with wood or jack stands before sliding your body underneath.
@@007connecticut I bought one of those hoists NIB off craigslist and gave it to a buddy, we used it to clean deer in his garage, worked perfect for lifting to the proper height.
@@pcdubya sweet. For the money you can't beat these cheap electric hoists. I don't totally trust if for real heavy stuff but for 1/2 a lawnmower at a time (then I place wood underneath the tires if I go under it) they are great!
Dealer says you need to loosen or remove vent plugs on both hydraulic pumps. You did mention not having to mess with the rest. Is just changing that oil adequate. The entire system holds between 4-5 quarts.
I don't want to drain the pumps. All that will do in induce air into the system. I removed the filter and refilled it. There is no need to remove the drain plug because the filter and drain plug are on the same pipe located at the same location. Simple to do. Drain it often to keep the oil fresh and you won't have issues with the pumps. Of course other machines may have different systems and could be different. Thanks for watching!
Thank you I blow the machine off after every use, but in the fall when I add the collection system (doing leaves) it gets real dirty. So I will wash it once before I'm done for the season (End of Nov). I park it in this garage in the corner between uses. When I do wash it I try not to wet the dash or any switches as they are not sealed. So far it's been a good machine.
The instructions claim to drive it slowly back and forth until it's response is normal. I jacked it up because l thought it would be fun to do LOL. Thanks for watching.
Isn’t the metal sleeve insert inside the oil fill hole essentially the dipstick? I thought you filled just to the bottom of that? I think you can pull that right out if you want to look in the tank.
I don't like to work extra hard. On this machine / filter set -up, it's not needed to remove the drain screw. You need to remove the filter and replace it, so I just remove the filter. Plus in doing it this way, less chance to screw up something like loose a plug or strip a screw.. Murphy's law ...Thanks for watching.
NO, don't do that! A car oil filter has a bypass built into the automotive engine filter. The OEM Scag Hydraulic oil filter (Part No. 48462-01) is a 10 Micron filter with NO BYPASS to protect the pump and wheel motor.
@007connecticut thanks...I was wondering about the one that keeps the bag from going near the exhaust...I really need one of those. I've never seen that before.
When I bought the machine I ordered it with the collection system. so it must be something that scag offers. Maybe go on partstree.com they have parts for scag and they have parts / prints with part numbers. Maybe you can find the bracket on there and order the parts for your machine. That machine is bought around 2015. I serviced it today, all the filters changed and the oil, but the plugs. Then I drained the gas. It is put to sleep until spring.
Don't thank me for watching, thank you for making the video!
Great how to do it video! I like the aluminum foil trick!
Good video! Thanks
Thanks-great and to the pint, the lift was great

Hey thanks

I love how clean your machine is, how can you keep it so clean? Thank you for the video.
Thank you

Does the rear have to be lifted to bleed the system? Would just driving it back and fourth in the driveway do the same thing?

You are most likely correct. Something I'll look at the next time I'm in the garage.
@@007connecticut just thought I’d mention it. Nice video by the way!
Sometimes common sense is lacking. I make things harder then they are. Lol
I dont see why you didn't drain the oil from the drain plug ? no one I have ever seen just takes the filter off and thats it, wow!

You might be able to cross the filter number to a common Fram filter used on cars.
NO, don't do that!
A car oil filter has a bypass built into the automotive engine filter.
The OEM Scag Hydraulic oil filter (Part No. 48462-01)

NAPA also has the correct filter. you don't want a by-pass valve on your filter. Thats why you don't use an oil filter.
Where did you get the bracket by the exhaust exit?
They are brackets for the Scag 3 bag collection system.

OK thanks I'm going to look into that. I wish I was done. We've got 54 cleanups this month....about 3/4 done 🤷🏻
Just use the drain plug
why is he wearing a leather coat
It was cold in April. I like leather, but I trash the coats often.
Maybe he thinks he's riting a motorcycle.
Carpet in the garage. New Balance shoes on the feet. No way this guy doesn't own a Corvette.
