    Great knowledge and how to video on the hydro fluid but I will add that motor oil and hydronic oil are not supposed to be swapped. They have different chemical properties and can cause damage

    Hey Mark hope you had a great Christmas and I’ll wish you and Vicky a happy new year too
    Yeah I love my Walker but there are very limited dealerships here in jersey too!! It’s a great mower that’s so convenient with the power dump, mine actually is the high dump as well! The only issue I’m having is the lifting wire harness is running intermittently so I am currently waiting for it to arrive it apparently is a known issue I just hope it works! I will install the harness myself! Like you I try to do as much myself as I can! I may though pickup a used scag or even toro as a backup but certainly used not new! Unless I find one cheap

    Mark... good demonstration vid. One thing that aggravates me about just about all mower manufacture's is their stupid filter placement (both engine and hydraulic). Why they can't locate the filters with the rubber seal up is beyond me. Think of all the oil messes and spills all over the frame of the mowers that would save! Ferris is one exception if you get a model with the huge 5 quart (or so) engine oil reservoir with the oil filter right in the very top just behind the riders seat back! Plus you are only required to change the engine oil about every 500 hours! I think their engineers are actually awake at Ferris!

    Great video, Mark. You seem to know a lot about your Scag. That's a good thing. We have Exmark and John Deere dealers every where. I have no idea where a Scag dealer is located. I hope you guys had a wonderful Christmas and I'll see you next year. 👍👍

    Mark... you are not the only one with lots of Scag problems. Saving Green (CZcams channel) got rid of all of his and went totally to Wright standers. He is very happy so far with Wrights with one full and very busy season under his belt. I under stand in your situation about your dealer location problems.

    I’ve been running scag mowers for years and years and have had very few issues with them. I have one with almost 6000 hours on it. Still has the original deck spindles.
    I also was wondering why you don’t go to a bigger deck like a 61 inch? A lot of your properties look to be fairly good sized. Just curious?
    Have a great new year! Really enjoy your videos.

    • @Marksmisfitworld
      @Marksmisfitworld  Před 5 lety +1

      About 75% of my properties are smaller yards and the 61 is just a little to big to get around with.

      Ok that makes sense. I really like how you do things. It’s very much how I do stuff as far as maintenance. Seems like a lot of guys around me take their equipment in for maintenance. I know I save a lot of $ by doing my own. Keep up the great work.

    Do you have to open the bleeders on the hydros when you jack up the mower and go back and forth with the sticks to get air out the system? Thanks

    • @Marksmisfitworld

      Mostly personal preference. I know I will be pushing the limits of the mower so I like to use synthetic oil.

    What problems have you had? I’ve had my Scag for 6 years now, just hit 500 hours. I’ve changed belts, oil, filters, and one PTO switch was replaced under warranty.

    • @Marksmisfitworld
      @Marksmisfitworld  Před 5 lety

      I go through a deck belt every 150 hours. Carburetor and the safety harness was replaced under warranty because it wouldn’t run on both cylinders at less than full throttle. All of that happened in the 2 years I have owned it since new.

    • @seabass22
      @seabass22 Před 5 lety +1

      Marks Misfit World that’s probably about right on a deck belt. I had my drive belt somehow pop off, I think something jumped in between it and a pulley. Anyway, it knocked off my brand new deck belt, broke it and the drive belt rode on the edge of the pulley and gashed it. Was not happy!
      I’ve learned not to put the mower in too thick of stuff. Yes it will cut it. But the belt will start to slip, and wear it out faster.
      My harness got smashed on one connector by the seat. I fixed it and haven’t had anymore issues. The only other issue I can think of, was the mower kept wanting to die randomly. Eventually I took the seat off and took it apart and found a giant rat nest inside it that was affecting the safety switch.
      It’s been a really good mower to me. My dad has gone through a john deere and toro in less time than I’ve had mine. The john deere was the worst piece of crap ever. My uncle has two exmarks. One has been beat up and started falling apart probably in his 5th season, but he never took real good care of it. The spindels on the exmark are not serviceable.
      Scag has the best spindels by far.
      Thanks for your video btw. I just ordered some gauges to check my clutch, valves, and change my spark plugs.

    • @Marksmisfitworld
      @Marksmisfitworld  Před 5 lety

      @@seabass22 None of my other mowers go through a deck belt once a month and it get a little tired of them blowing in the middle of a yard. When the deck belt blows it usually takes the drive belt with it and is a little embarressing when I am laying underneath my mower in the middle of a customers yard changing them. With being a commercial mower you wouldn't think I would have to go through 4 deck belts in one season. But everything else works like it should and I would never be without a calmshell bagging system again.

    • @seabass22
      @seabass22 Před 5 lety

      Marks Misfit World is there a knick or something in a pulley? I change my deck belt probably every other year, but I’m not putting those kinds of hours on mine. I was told by my old dealer, that it shouldn’t be going through belts at all. Not OEM belts anyway. Idk, that seems excessive, and no, it is not fun at all trying to get that belt on by yourself!
