    Have a SVRII-52V-37BV-EFI. What is the part number for the standard lift high horsepower blade for the 52”? Are there high horsepower options for the high lift and mulch blades? Also have a SVRII-61V-38KW-EFI so part numbers for both deck sizes would be great. Thanks in advance.

    • @KPMExceptional
      @KPMExceptional  Před rokem

      Scott, thank you for your questions! Before we answer we should mention its always best to call your local dealer. They know your cutting conditions better than we do!
      The high horsepower blades are only available for the 61" deck. The 52" deck blade options are standard thickness blades. These blades are the right choice for your mower. Part Number 482878.
      There are not high horsepower options for any blade type outside of the 61" deck part 482881. What makes these blades "high horsepower" is they are a bit thicker than a standard blade.

    I'm in the Midwest with the OE scag v ride 48 and I was going to get just mulching blades just strictly for leaf season for mow and shreads not to really lay nice stripes just mainly for really chopping up the leaves and I do not have a chute cover it is open. Would this be okay to do so?

    • @KPMExceptional
      @KPMExceptional  Před rokem +2

      Tough question. Is it going to cut the leaves into little pieces - no. Will it help yes but you are still going to have to go over them a couple of times depending on how much there is. For best leaf results we recommend the full Hurricane Mulch kit. It comes with baffles, blades, and block off plate.

    • @KPMExceptional
      @KPMExceptional  Před rokem +1

      Bob - first we should mention that you are outside of our territory. However, we can try to help with some general info. First, we would NOT recommend simply using a mulch block off plate and mulching blades. You will not be happy with the result. It will likely clump. The reason the full hurricane mulch kit works so well on the Scag Velocity+ deck is the extra baffles that come with the kit. Those baffles help to push the clippings back down into the blade path, ensuring clippings are cut and RE-cut to leave a nice manicured finish.
      If mulching is truly your aim, your best bet is a full hurricane mulching kit. Keep in mind that during spring or other times of very lush wet grass, you will likely need to mow more often with a mulch kit to get an acceptable result. If you try to take 6"+ off in one pass, you will not be happy with the cut quality. you may need to do multiple passes over the same area. If you are not set on mulching then your best bet would likely be standard Scag blades with the block off plate and minimize the time you leave the chute closed. Also, mow slower with the chute closed.
      Hope this helps you! Thanks for your comment.

    great video, I have the 2021 vride 2 52 with te vanguard 37hp ( awesome powerful motor) I have the twin bagger belt driven. I like to run the super high lift blades without the vac and deck discharge reducer plate off and leaves great stripes and awesome cut quality. with the bagger on, what best blades to put on for best cut and minimal blowout and will work with the vac blower? (I already lowered the front deck baffle down to slot a 3rd hole. the latest setup is with g5 gators on and does great on leaf pick up and helps on shredding clipping for extra room in bag, but poor cut quality. any great suggestions will definitely help me out. thx again

    • @KPMExceptional
      @KPMExceptional  Před 2 lety +1

      this video has our bagging recommendation right in it! one high lift blade on the discharge spindle, and 2 standard blades on the middle and outside spindle. If you are in some crazy wet conditions then you can try all 3 high lift blades but because of the larger wing, the air resistance robs some of the power from the engine (harder to spin the blades). FYI we always recommend using Scag OEM blades on your Scag mower!!

    How would the velocity plus do removing the baffles in long stemmy grass

    • @KPMExceptional
      @KPMExceptional  Před 11 měsíci

      We would not recommend removing the baffles to your velocity plus cutter deck. Removing the baffles will result in poorer performance regardless of the conditions - they are essential.
      However adjusting the baffle to a higher position may help with longer grass.

    how do i get better stripes from my scag walk behind with the mulch kit? mowers dont seem to stripe as well with the mulching kits.

    • @KPMExceptional
      @KPMExceptional  Před 2 lety

      Unfortunately Scag does not offer factory striping kits for their walk behind mowers. More importantly, you will have trouble striping while mulching due to the nature of the grass cutting. Especially at this time of year, you'll need to cut 2 or more times per week, taking only a little off each time to get a really high quality of cut.
      If you really want to add a striping kit there are numerous aftermarket options out there but we do not sell them and cannot recommend their use. Thanks for your question!

    • @darkrosemusic7663
      @darkrosemusic7663 Před 2 lety

      @@KPMExceptional im curious can you explain what mulch kits do that changes the nature of grass cutting and decreases stripes?

    • @KPMExceptional
      @KPMExceptional  Před 2 lety

      @@darkrosemusic7663 sure! When you are cutting and discharging grass out the side, the grass left is pulled up and then laid back down by the rollers on the back of the deck. With a Scag striping kit on a sit down ZTR, the additional striping roller lays down the grass even further. With all the grass pushed down in one direction, you get stripes.
      With a Scag hurricane mulching kit the grass is cut, then recut numerous times before falling down in between the grass blades. In order to do that the deck is closed so grass doesn't discharge out the side. you end up with grass standing up way straighter after the cut than you would with a side discharge.
      This is a great link from Scag that explains lawn striping further: www.scag.com/pro-tip/lawn-striping-and-lawn-patterns/

    • @KPMExceptional
