People complain about this being $40 and then go spend $60 each year on FIFA or Madden. This game is one of a kind and made by a dedicated dev whose been working on this game for years without giving up.
THIS COMMENT RIGHT HERE!!When I heard him say that I almost fell out of my chair. Because of the online aspect and the popularity of this game on PC they could have said $60 but nope! They gave a unique and extremely fun game with more content to come! Anyone complaining about price is out of their minds.

@@RealTroyE23 I know I'm late, but the weirdest part about this review is that he said how much fun he had, yet he thinks 38.99 is too much for a game that could have easily been 59.99 and boring. I mean 38.99 is a pretty standard price for a high quality indie game.

This was the last Early Access game I ever bought. Loved how it started, annoyed through it's 2year abandoned phase and now looking it on your channel finally, after 4ish years. I remember Demo Derby on the PC, and PS1 (Destruction Derby). I'm looking at your video as a "worth-a-reinstall." I wish the career mode was deeper, loved playing through an actual season/career on the PS1 Destruction Derby. Your vid has piqued me, I may play it again. But I will never, ever buy an early access game again, and that's thanks to this game right here.

Glad you reviewed this. I had the game sitting around in my library for quite a bit and was looking to try it out again.
This is the only racing game I can get tagged by the AI, completely fuck up my race and still be grinning from ear to ear.

I'm pretty stoked that you mentioned Destruction Derby, I forgot the name but played the hell out of that when I was younger on PC.
I love how you can change the names of the AI opponents to anything you want. Makes the game even more fun. There are already some mods for that on workshop.
Thankfully I bought the beta ages ago for not much in a sale so I now have the full game and I'll actually get around to playing it, it doesn't officially have a RIFT support but maybe I can get it to work with the headset regardless.

The local track in Corpus Christi , Texas had the same elimination race. They called it Australian Pursuit. Keep it up Mack!

Mack, can't beleive 3 years ago you did your 3rd and "final" revisit to this game... it has changed even more and is fucking terrific.
You can also add mods to the game and play more tracks, game modes, etc...

Backed in kickstarter, has just been getting better through each drama the development has hammered it's way past. Superb game.

Its the ultimate demolition derby racing game.
What lacks is:
- more diversity in cars (Audis, BMWs, VW, maybe ruskie cars - those are extremely rare sight)
- more weather effects - rain, dust, snow, night with race track light posts
- more track locations - dense forrest, sand dunes, snowy tundras
- more customisation - not Mad Max style but something that doesnt stand out too much
Dont know what else :D Its Bugbear - they are godlike in such things.
There's probably more tracks coming, judging by some tweets the devs made. They also talked about trying to add caravan races (every car tows a camping trailer)
Im all up for special races.
For example fast lawn mowers with roll cage.
Bugbear is making Stuntfest now - we all know what it will be tho :D
Yea in alpha they were looking at making some tracks with loops, jumps and other wacky stuff. They even released a test one. But the idea seems to have vanished, which is a shame. Look up "next car game 2.0 sneak peak".

There is over 50 mod tracks and Steam workshop support for Wreckfest... which reviews don't seem to mention
Wreckfest is the only racing game I put in +50 hours of just playing the game itself(I say this cause I also have like 50hs in PC2, but half of it was restarting races and trying to get the car settings right each new race for each new car I were to drive).

8 months ago I started playing a lot as it had changed immeasurably.
I quite enjoyed career but the multiplayer has been great. Persuaded about 5 mates to get it and we've had some real laughs.
I've just bought this in the Steam Autumn sale for about £10 and it's absoiutely outrageously good fun. I haven't laughed so much for ages, it's brutal as you say, but, you get used to the AI shunting you up the backside from time to time, you just need to try and stay out of trouble as best you can. I've played this with a keyboard & mouse and didn't have any problems. The tracks are outstanding, the various cars you can drive are fantastic and the graphics are brilliant, even the music is bang on, it's certainly worth a buy, thanks for your review, you've got a new follower.

Ooh, Ooh, Call Of Duty, PLEASE! I just love your ranting. One of the funniest things in entertainment of any kind. Maybe you could put together a montage of FPS, or other games, rantings. Sprinkle in some Tommy Lee Jones, to try to keep you in check, but to no avail. That would be among my saved and shared videos, easily.

Used to love playing Destruction Derby Raw on the PS1 and Test Drive: Eve of Destruction on the PS2. I'll have to pick this one up sometime since it's been quite a long time that I've played a good Destruction Derby type of game.

Good review mate, ive been playing it for around 30 hours now solely on multiplayer i was even made a moderator for the flying bollards uk server if you ever wanna pop in for a blast, the community is really really good we have such a laugh ive not even touched single player yet.
Watching your video i noticed the online section has a lot of red crosses and that means you wont be able to join them servers because the latest patch has not been downloaded by the people running those servers meaning your game and thier server does not match so that should happen real soon and be sorted.
Suprised to see you had such good fun even on single player but wait until you are smashing good old fashioned arsehats online its another level :)
Hope you revisit the game often and pop in for a blast we welcome all.

I used to love Demolition Derby in Dirt Showdown, though everyone hated that game. I loved it.
Demolition derby was on the PS1. Actually, I used to work with Playstation Japan, when they were looking at old IPs, I strongly recommended that they get DD for the Playstation classic. My microscopic claim to industry insiderness

What wheel and pedals do you have Mack?
I played this with both Mouse and Keyboard and a Controller and for me the M&B worked better once I customised the setup to my liking.
I'm going to buy it as soon as it's discounted on Steam. This may be one of the best car games of the last ten years.

Did you play with assists? I played it on a keyboard with SC and TC set to half and ABS on and it's really easy. With both TC and SC on off that's where it's really hard, perhaps unplayable on a keyboard. Also, will you review The Agony, or you'll skip it cause of the "controversial" subject?

This game had more customization at some point - but they scaled it down. Players found it overwhelming and messed with settings they did not understand. :D

Wreckfest is entertaining (I was on early access, but picked it up again last week and was amazed how much had changed). I just think the pricing is insane. The online is dead apart from perhaps 3 servers at a time. I would love to get some friends online and playing, but there's no way I could convince people to drop £35+ on this game. £9.99, perhaps, at a push. But no more than that. No way is it worth as much as games like Forza.
Can you do a wine review? Maybe start with a mid-priced Pino?
I disagree that career mode isn't fun, but ya, too expensive. Well worth $25-$30 tho.
in the current racing game landscape where majority of them aim for realism, its nice to have a game like this that dosent take itself seriously, sometimes you just wanna put an inflatable shark on your car and knock someone off of a lawn mower ya know?

Find a good server, dirty or clean depending on your mood and your set for a great night of racing. None of all the fluff you get with other racing games and thats a great thing, just pick up and play.
Looks MUCH better than it did during alpha/beta. Demolition derby was one of my favorite games on playstation 1 I think.

You can use auto or manual on all the cars, it's a setting. Sadly no VR
I feel like ,,No VR support'' shouldn't be a negative point. VR support is not a standard in racing games, I think.
it kinda is. VR is ideal for racing games. A hell of a lot of VR users play racing sims. For me, yes, no VR is a big negative. This would be awesome in VR. Maybe they'll include it later

I remember playing Flatout on the original Xbox it was a fun game and had excellent physics and graphics, was made by the same developer.
Thanks Mack, I'll add to wishlist and wait for a sale :) . Destruction Derby was the first that came out on Playstation 1, I remember seeing that game for the first time, it was amazing. Then DD2 they ruined it by making them so fast. Also with the bowl, you drive around in reverse so you don't ruin your engine, you can eliminate most cars that way.
got it yesterday. played 8 hours so far. fucking love it. even if you lose a match because your opponents fucked you up, you will still have a blast just seeing how well they fuck you up :D

You won't get anywhere with a keyboard ?... that's a straight up lie, this is an arcade racing game (as he said it himself) and arcade racing games are being played the best with a gamepad and keyboard, simply because of the quick movements you have to do and the wheel just can't keep up, even with the gamepad it takes a while before you can change the direction, while with a keyboard is almost instant (I'm playing it myself with a keyboard). Therefore the opposite of what he said is true, using a wheel is the worst choice and not the keyboard, unless he never played an arcade racing game over keyboard and simply doesn't know it better :)
