thank you, I spent a lot of time going thru what I wanted. I really liked the kayak but ultimately decided to go with a 12' pedal drive for larger water fishing.
Love your videos of the Pelican Catch 110. I'm in the process of getting my cables for my Garmin Striker vivid 5cv run, along with the power cables for my Endue 30 on my Catch 110. I want to run my fish finder power cable from the front right side to the back behind the seat where I will have the same type of the. How hard is running the wire in the hull, can they be run on the bottom or the sides? I wasn't sure where the foam was between the hull. Also, can you explain how you hooked the DCS remote to the trolling motor as that is so nice. Thanks, Walter
Walter, Wiring was pretty easy. Not sure where foam is but i used 2 magnets one inside one outside (from harbor freight )and some fishing line to fish the wiring from one end to another. Take your time and you will feel anythijg it gets hung up on. I put 2 holes in it for my sae connectors and then just moved magnets slowly from one hole to another with the line attached. The dcs controller is connected to a hobbywing 880 esc in the control head off the minn kota. There are lots of videos of how to do that, I recommend Aksel Pedersons CZcams posts on it as its pretty straight forward.
Where did you say you got your steering mechanism? I have a 30 lb trolling motor on the back of mine. It kind of sucks to have to turn around and steer it. Thanks!
Nice clean install! Everything looks great! Except for the GMC Sierra in the garage, Ford all the way! Jk... Looks really thought out. How did you tap into the minnkota esc, wiring diagram?
The Minn Kota doesnt have an esc, so I put on a Hobbywing 880 ESC in the control head. Minn Kota uses a 4 wire system, but the ESC only requires the 2 wire + and -.
How did you wire inside the hull? It might be a silly question so I’m sorry but I just got my catch mode 110 and I need to figure the wiring situation out
I should have taken a video. i drilled 2 holes the size needed for my wiring plug in the spots I wanted them. i then took harbor freight strong magnets and used a large nut and tied 12# fishing line to it.... i then walked the magnet down the kayak on thw outside with the nut on the inside until it came out other hole. I then slowly fished the wire backwards using the fishing line. Hope that makes sense. The nut may fall off in spots but you just move magnet around under it and it will make click sound when it finds it. Or just run it along bottom and then you arent worrying about gravity.
i no longer own this. Its super simple though. Remove control head, remove the factory switch and handle. There are 2 outputs on the Hobbywing, connect both sets to the red and black wires of the trolling motor. Then just connect the wireless controller to the hobbywing. There are several videos on youtube of the actual process
@@TimmyGWiz Sorry didn't get notification of this. They are 2 different animals. The pedal drive is far more work for sure, but it allows me to get on big water that I wouldn't try with the 10' yak. The bigger yak doesn't do as well in little water though so it has trade offs. I can stand far more comfortably in the P127 than the catch mode.
It only controls forward and reverse power and speed. It requires a ESC (hobbywing 880) and a wireless card. It will connect automatically once powered.
@@chriswenzel3328 it will work with all. It just has a power out and a ground which is what makes the motor turn, it reverses polarity for reverse so no need for a reverse switch like a pwm.
@ffemt703 so I hate to bother you more, you have already been a big help with setting up mu yak. Do you have, or know of a wiring plan to install the kill and the wireless speed control? I'm far from an electrician and I'd hate to mess up a new trolling motor.rigjt out of the box. Thanks again for your previous replies.
everything was secured to the kayak as it was without mods. Had a lanyard cutoff to kill the trolling motor. Don't have this anymore upgraded to pedal drive with similar mods.
Nice set up bro ..

Can you show me how you did your trolling motor release to tilt forward?
Really nice!!

@@ffemt703 Where did you buy the Pelican trolling motor controller you have on the side? I've looked every where and can't find one.
Awesome kayak! Where did you get the side ports for the wiring?
Amazon, SAE connectors

I order it from pelican. Pelicansport.com

What’s the brand of the wireless controller? Awesome set up!
HotRC ds-600. It should pop right up on amazon
Did you have to do any additional reinforcement for the trolling motor? I am in the market for a kayak, but want a trolling motor on it.
These were specifically designed to put a trolling motor on it. They have a motor mount option as well that bolts right in.

Brent where did you get the pelican steering column at I can't find it any where
I ordered it from Pelican website... Its from their steering model... Just had to incorporate so didn't have to cut the hull.
Where did you get your scupper transducer mount?
I designed and 3d printed it... It is on thingiverse.com
Did you install the wire ports for the battery yourself?
Yes super easy... Just use a pair of magnets and some fishing line....
Please make a video on how you install your steering wheel thank you
Unfortunately i cannot as i ended up selling this one and upgraded to a pedal drive kayak for tournaments.
