    Bro... you did some really good work! You're humble about it and say things like it was no big deal. I am wrapping up my own custom fabrication of the same 65 lb haswing motor on my lifetime Yukon angler. And It took a lot of work. I've been dying to get it on the water. This video gave me the much needed insight on keeping the motor unlocked for forward motion. Having it break from an impact after all that work would be horrible so thank you for that! I hope mine can go as fast as yours! Haha great video and great work 👍 enjoy it and stay safe out there.

    Looks nice ! Good to see you understand hull speed. Seen a lot of videos with guys putting multiple motors and wondering why they don't go faster! Bet you spent a lot less than I did with my Texas Power Paddle Marlin Rudder!! How long can you go on one battery charge?

      Since it's brushless it can probably go a while. Not even half way I was over 3mph. I added 3000 mah back to a 60000 mah battery.

    This is a great video; thank you for posting. I've been planning on adding a motor onto my Hobie so everything you have here is perfect.
    One question; Noticed you're using a 60 amp hour battery. Do you have any experience on how long a full charge will run the kayak. I know it depends on speed, etc, so just an approximate idea would be great. Thanks again.

    Nice work , I used the POD that came with Haswing , Wanting back up POD , I used a 10 ohm with 1 K resistors sold in surplus electronic shop . Purchased a number , worked but never reached top speed , , Maybe pods purchased are not for my unit , I am wondering what mfg POD you used , and did it come with resistors or you had too solder ? Amazon or other , thanks

    It is best to not run your tm dry. The water seal at the shaft is just an oring and the water lubricates the shaft to rubber interface.

    • @BassManStrikes
      @BassManStrikes Před 10 měsíci +1

      You need 2 1k resistors 1 on pin one and one on pin 3. The pot that's in the head has them on a little circuit board and you have to use a 10k potentiometer.
      If you don't add the 2 1k resistors it will shut off in reverse when the resistance hits 0 and forward if it goes over like 9k. The resistor on pin one adds 1k and on pin 3 it subtracts 1k thus preventing the motor from shutting off.

  • @BassManStrikes
    @BassManStrikes Před rokem

    You need to add 1k resistors to pins 1 and 3 on your pot and it won't shut off by itself.

      @@darrincavalletti8188 OK so now I remember. Originally my potentiometer that came with the motor was acting up. Went on a search and found a motorized kayak fishing group on Facebook. Found someone using a potentiometer and they had 10k ohm resistors wired to positive and negative. The one it comes with does not need resistors but since mine was not working correctly I went with the one off Amazon and it worked fine and has been since. Been out about 6 more times already and no issues.

    • @OffdayTherapy
      @OffdayTherapy  Před rokem +1

      Also I ended up buying a spare controller because haswing shares parts with another brand but it's exactly the same motor. Didn't end up using the spare just kept the amazon potentiometer wired up.

      @@OffdayTherapy I have done a lot of research and can’t find this information about a spare controller that will work from another brand that uses the same parts as Haswing. If you can’t say here then please make a post in the Motorized Kayak group page for me. Thanks!
      Oh almost forgot - what is the cleat you’re using? I haven’t seen one that mounts like that. I have some where the rope goes vertically, but I like the way yours pulls from the side instead.

    How much you spend for entire setup and how long did your battery last?

    • @OffdayTherapy
      @OffdayTherapy  Před 2 lety

      269.00 trolling motor, mount 90.00. Pots 12.00, trolling motor plug connection 40.00. Everything else depends on how cheap or expensive you wanna go. I'll say my setup was about 500.00 minus battery because I wanted to be able to easily remove it. Used it for like 30 min and only had to add 3000mah to make my 60000mah battery full again

    In my honest opinion I would rather get a bixpy smaller compact and not as ugly as these trolling motors

    • @OffdayTherapy
      @OffdayTherapy  Před 2 lety +5

      I thought about it for a while honestly, but after you add the rear motor mount with the pole that holds the bixpy, you are looking at around 1600.00. This setup cost 500.00 and you can use any battery. Also you get 65lbs thrust so no matter how strong the wind and current this thing still moves well.
