@Matteo Ricci Western countries are some of the most advanced and well-armed places on Earth. They are far from naive.
In fact, they have gone through the stage of using humans as chattel and come out the other side. Why? Because westerners knew it was morally wrong to enslave a human being, even when they relied upon it, centuries ago.
So that's why Western people are so critical of Qatar's indentured slavery. Because it is also grossly primitive, and without compassion, just for a few football matches that could be held elsewhere.

I see but it's fifa's decision who to select
Qatar shouldn't have even been an option
Clearly too many issues and it was money and bribes that got them selected
Fifa didn't care how it was to be handled
The ones who made the key decisions were made very wealthy that's all they cared about
FIFA should investigate thoroughly the country's ability to host and how it would be handled,

How about having World cups in countries where they already have the infrastructure? Like Europe or US or South America? Qatar is a fucked up place. There is very little freedom. Their infrastructure may be of 21st century, but they are living in the medieval ages with their barbaric laws.
Also, the blame does not lie solely on Qatar. It also lies on FIFA and the home countries of these workers like India, Bangladesh, Pakistan and Nepal. If Indians care so much about these people, why not petition our government to do something about it? The government sucks up to these Arab nations because they have oil. South Asian governments are spineless.

SP well it is possible actually. Vietnam since 2016 to now has had a giant sudden success. Their golden generation is happening right now and it’s the best team they’ve got in their history, their u20 team made the u20 World Cup, their u23 team made the afc finals and barely lost on a last minute goal in extra time, their real national team had 16 straight matches without a loss, they got 4th in Asia games, and made it to the quarter finals of afc 2019 before barely losing to japan 1-0 on a PENALTY goal. Just 3 years ago Vietnam was like 150th in world rankings and lost to teams like the Philippines. Now their youth teams upset Australia, Japan, Korea, and their real team is beginning to get close to upsetting everyone. I do agree Qatar vs japan was bs but it IS possible for a team to get that good in 2 years. All you need is puzzle pieces all fitting together. Good coach, good players with great chemistry.

I worked so many hours overtime without getting any money at all and at one time, he even tried to hit me with his hand to my face. One thing is for sure: If you suspect (the slightest of suspicion) that your boss is using you, quit the job. If you have a contract, go to the police with it if he doesn't pay for your hours.
Don't let them to continue to use you, cause if you give them ONE finger, they will take your whole head. Don't make the same mistake like I did, I stayed there for too long, suffered for waaaay longer than I should!

It's simple math really. Countries like Qatar have shitty teams but hella money. The World Cup host country is automatically given a spot in the tournament. Qatar knows they will never qualify legitimately so they bought their way into the tournament by paying off Fifa officials to "win" and host the event. On top of that, they know that they will also make hella money from tourism during the tournament.
