You could arguably say the Jon the Archivist was a benevolent force? Doing small (relatively) evils but also powerful enough to destroy stuff like the black sun in order to protect potential new victims. There might be other people like him that Lena is referring to?

The statement feels like Desolation with the pain and loss and burning bridges. The Burnt also has a connection to finances and struggles related to it. Also Jude was a stock trader before she became an avatar.

Starkwell is the other end of the fulcrum from the Externals perhaps? This smacks of The Web manipulating this world to keep The Fears fed. Perhaps The Web learning that balance is key?
I'm enjoying the different flavor of TMP. Sequels have the burden of expectation. People hopefully will invest time and uncover where this will go.

    Honestly
I dont like people comparing the characters because they are very diffrent and work perfectly by themesleves and I love every single one of them from both stories

It's always been my head-canon that there are other benevolent "powers" as well as malevolent ones, that feed off other emotional states. This ties in with my head-canon theory that the different entities are actually combinations of emotional states. So the flesh is a fear + disgust entity, the lonely is fear + grief, etc. But that implies that there should be non-fear entities.
And I could be wrong about this but iirc they've confirmed at some point, maybe during a Q&A, that there aren't other positive entities in the Magnus universe because it goes against the theme of a horror podcast.
But that's what head canon is for, lol.

I'm re-listening to the episodes and... Did you ever notice that there's this recurring theme of lights? The first episode and the first spoken entry takes about light that blinds... When the artist is in the tattoo chair, the lights blind and disorient... Alice says in Ep. 5, "The Sun is the Enemy" in her sarcastic way that might still be pointing to something... The Sun is an astrological and alchemical symbol (recurring graffiti about that), and again Alice says in Ep 6, "Be careful. Flash photography may spook the local wildlife" while something is actively spying on them.

Ans I think back to Mikael Salesa's "Dark"- touched camera.... but ironically, if it is an "ignorance/disorientation" theme, then the symbolism has switched.
Voyeur the film also had a minute long complete darkness in a theater... and if that's connected at all to the Eye, to seeing, to knowing, then again the symbolism has swapped to the opposite. Maybe because of the mix-up of entities in TMA's last season, before they spread out to other realities.

There is also a subtle recurring theme between the victim of "Voyeur" and Needles: Both are seeking ("hunting") the addictive thrill of fear... but when they don't get it one way... 1. For the movie guy and his "horror hounds," the only things that gave him fear anymore were "borderline illegal" things named suspiciously like Entity-related things... and 2. When Needles couldn't make the cop afraid via the phone by describing lonely/stranger type stuff... they switched it to more of a "hunt" style of "I'll find you." ... So I maybe the entities are still themselves, but in their weakened states they're so mixed together that marked objects and people aren't marked by only one thing like TMA. Especially with the OIAAR "balancing" and "managing the bad guys."

@@robinpenn7167 I definitely noticed that themes of addiction & gambling keep cropping up within the 'statements'. Not sure whether it's anything yet, but first thing that came to mind was how addiction has previously been connected to the Web & the Web was the controlling force in the background of TMA, so maybe the addiction themes are hinting at the Web being important in TMP too?
This is kinda off to the side of what you were saying, but it's the main thing (along with the main cast having trouble sleeping) that I've noticed as a reoccurring theme so far.

I want more of Colin, I love the screwy IT guy. Alice is... growin on me. I still tend to find her grating though, and I have little interest in the subplot of her still liking Sam. Other than that, I'm super invested in Protocol

I have to say I am definitely enjoying this series but nowhere near as much as I enjoyed TMA. I think it’s because I want this to be TMA Season 6 but it was never going to be that. I also am just not that invested in the main cast yet and the romantic triangle that seems to be present has never interested me in media in general. However Gwen (if she could be considered the main cast maybe she should tbf), her storyline the only thing im tuning in for at the moment, thats where the juicy part is. It almost feels like TMP is focusing on the wrong things and Gwen to me should be the main character who is actually finding out things similar to the archivist in TMA but to me at least she doesnt feel like a main character the way Alice and Sam do. I hope it will be like TMA where the first listen through is the worst because of all the hidden bits that you discover when you have more context from later series but will have to wait and see about that!

Did it sound to anyone else like Colin was narrating the story this episode. Also the boss lady (can't remember her name) mentioned benevolent forces. I don't remember anything benevolent from tma. What are these benevolent forces

I enjoyed the narrative stuff in this episode, but I'm not really a fan of the short story here. The writting felt a bit contrived? Idk if that's the word for it, but the narrator didn't act like a real person, you know?

I've definitely met people with the "financebro" mindset, that think the only thing that matters is "the grind" and will do anything or pay any personal price(not money) to get more money. It might have helped to have Darrien talk a bit more about how little he cared about his personal health compared to his personal wealth.

@TheFullSpectrum I have problem more with how he went on with his story for no reason. Kinda like how John could compell people, but I don't think that's a thing anymore in this universe. Also he figured out that he could bet against himself with just the one incident. Seems like it was rushed maybe
