    Did no one catch the line Georgie said while playing with the baby “who keeps taking Georgie’s face?” Am I the only one this stranger traumatized?

    • @pilotman463
      @pilotman463 Před měsícem +2

      RIGHT! And Lena said "Is that ITS name". So there's something up with the baby but what's fascinating is that it is human because when Celia told Alice that it's a human child, Freddy didn't beep for a lie

    Malevolent!! Bonkers story! I would adore a review on it!!!!
    If you like malevolent monsters and season 5 tma you might also like I Am In Eskew (completed), and if you like the more character interaction parts and thrills you might like The White Vault (ongoing)

    Alice's rebuttal to Sam, mixed with how complex Protocol's horror system is compared to Archive's, almost gives me the feeling of a slight deconstruction of some of the elements of Archive. Like "What is the point in trying to connect these two experiences? Even if it turns out to be true, what the heck am I supposed to do with that information?" Just like, imagine Jon's conspiracy meltdown in season 2 from the perspective of Alice if she were there.

      She's very much the antithesis of Jon in TMA.

    This episode had a good themeing of "Spectacle"
    And how we as people are caught by a Spectacle and we persue or watch even if dangerous
    Sam always being presitent to know more info about either his cases or work
    The case itself of the girl whos own fear turned into an obession that eventually consumed her
    And Alice talking about curiosity being dangerous, the urge to persue the mystery
    And I think that also reflects the fans of this series and Lovecraft writing as a whole. This need to understand the impossible and to seek out the truth and once found, we can never return to the magic of the mystery again

    I have a big metatextual hangup on why I don't think John is [ERROR], which is (break for anyone who wants to skip this speculation)...
    .
    .
    .
    .
    .
    .
    .
    .
    in episode 10 [ERROR] was voiced by Beth Eyre. If it were John, I'd expect Jonny to be the voice. But it's very possible they're doing something sneaky with transfer of consciousness or... I don't know, but I wouldn't be surprised if they did something wild.

    I don't think Lena is an entity/external/whatever, I think she's just like... low-masking autistic plus a career's worth of trauma from working in the OIAR. The different ways that autistic people process emotions can sometimes come across as inhuman, and I can only imagine how that might look when put together with like, decades (maybe longer, it's Magnus) of intentionally distancing yourself from people and especially children and suppressing all kinds of feelings because your job is managing the nightmares the government sends to eat people to keep worse things from happening. It would fit with how she seems to miscommunicate really hard with Gwen; I've always gotten the vibe that Lena thinks she's being nice (rather than dismissive and rude) when she told Gwen "you don't have what it takes" - I'm AuDHD myself and that seems like way I might misstep in communicating if I'm not careful.

      But like ESPECIALLY the "There hasn't been a problem, why would I have needed to talk to you??" is just. Very autistically relatable. Like, it's not that I don't want to hang out with people I work with necessarily, it's just that in my brain they are a Work Person filed in the Work Drawer that I only open when I'm in Work Mode doing Work so if I'm thinking about who I want to invite to do a thing, they're just never gonna come up - but if they invited me to a thing I'd probably go. A few people have made the jump a more general "friend" kind of filing, mostly on the back of shared interests (usually media).

    • @TheFullSpectrum
      @TheFullSpectrum  Před měsícem +5

      Thats a good point! I think too often I jump to "this person in fiction is secretly a robot/alien/eldritch being" instead of just people being people. A very good theory, and I'll try to keep it in mind as we move forward with Lena, we will see how it all turns out!

    • @AthenaEryma
      @AthenaEryma Před měsícem +3

      @@TheFullSpectrum It's a very easy thing to jump to, as coding through robots/aliens/etc is the only way neurodivergences have been represented in media for a long time and it's just now we're starting to see realistic portrayals in media and it's still pretty rare... but also if anyone is gonna do it I think Rusty Quill is one of the places we're more likely to see it.

    I have such a strong idea in my head of the thing in the basement being what little remains of Jon. Possibly everything inside him that he and us would consider “Monster” while just barely scraping together enough to appear somewhat human. The idea of this wounded beast walking towards you, exposing its will on you to not run from it as it raggedly says “Tell. Me. Your. Story.” Is probably one of the most haunting and tragic things my brain could come up with

    I think Lena is distant because she knows she might have to off her staff at some point in the future. She tried with Klaus, I think Lena will try with Sam due to his pursuing of forbidden knowledge

    The creature asking alley questions is the basement dweller an archivist of some kind?

    • @TheFullSpectrum
      @TheFullSpectrum  Před měsícem +2

      I think so! It would be some perfect poetry if the first case of Archives is Anglerfish, and the Archivist turns into something similar, hiding in the shades of an alley and asking questions

    Omg I felt so bad for Gwen, like I dont think thats being talked about enough
    Gwen actually broke at her job, when she is always posing herself as this serious and unbreakable person to her coworkers
    To see someone so independent trust her coworkers for a sec to only shut down after goes to show that she probably wasn't always like the person she is now

    Also I am leaning towards Lena being not human™️ since the very first episode the people like cake line implies she is not people else she would say everyone likes cake. It was also a line highlighted during the jackbox stream as having importance

    • @pilotman463
      @pilotman463 Před měsícem +1

      I also think the cake itself is important
      "The Cake Is A Lie" type thing, because Lena is insistent on new hires eating Cake

    Not sure if it has been mentioned yet but with the guy who met himself he mentioned that the archives staff could use anger management lessons and then he was like “well the bigger one didn’t he’s nice but the one who looks really tired does” and that might be a Jon & Martin reference so maybe they are unaware of the fears but the fears know them so they’ll be drawn into it all unless they’re from the guys own universe and I’m way off

  • @pilotman463
    @pilotman463 Před měsícem +1

    This is like my third comment but this episode is giving so much info
    I just wanted to point out that Celia's "Emergencies" are some weird sleep walking or astral projection thing. With her walking up multiple times in strange places and being tired alot and now her going out to do these important tasks in her Pajamas

  • @TabbyeLynne
    @TabbyeLynne Před měsícem +4

    Lena reminded me so much to Elias during that conversation with Sam, and her reaction to Jack's name has me convinced that "Celia" didn't know she was pregnant when she somehow crossed over to this universe and that's why she doesn't know who the father is and Lena knows that somewhere in this universe there's a Lynne Hammond with all her memories intact who knows who the father of her child is (maybe she is still in a relationship with him) and Lynne did not named her son Jack
    So not only Celia's name is not Celia, Jack's name is not supposed to be Jack and Lena knows that's why she reacts to the name like it's a joke
    My prediction is that Celia will meet Lynne "on screen" at some point in the future
    Sam "I don't like horror" is definitely going to be the first one to die for sure, Alice keeps telling him to not go looking for answers but he can't help it, and I feel like they are setting it up to be tragic with him falling in love with Celia only for Celia to remember she is actually in love with Jack's father still just before they Kill Sam off
    Georgie playing with baby Jack made me nervous, what if it's a hint that she was taken by the not-them? aka her face was stolen??
    Also the static keeps showing up when people are lying?? Including when Celia said "I'm not lying" 😮
    Alice not laughing at Gwen makes me think she knows a lot more than she lets on

    i'm bad with voices and it's been a while since i relistened to TMA, so maybe that's it, but - i didn't recognize georgie at first. she didn't really match my mental picture of her?
    combined with the face stealing joke, it ended up giving me a ridiculous theory that celia is actually georgie from TMA and pulled a stranger-style shenanigans sort of swap with the local lynne, who became the new georgie ? so fearless georgie is in celia's body, working at the oiar. and babysitter georgie knows that something happened involving identities, but maybe not exactly sure what.
    okay it's a pretty out-there idea XD maybe more plausible than my 'celia is actually annabelle somehow, and she's frustrated because she's got to start over from scratch' idea!
