- I teach you how to setup and utilize the Harley branded Boom! Audio Sena 20S EVO Bluetooth Headset with your Boom!™ Box Infotainment system in this completely free video! With the Harley branded Sena 20s EVO Headset, you get full Bluetooth wireless integration with the Boom Box system, which comes on 2014 & newer Harley touring models. So, if you're willing to pay the Harley-Davidson tax, they'll gladly accept your money. You can get into a single Harley branded Boom! Audio Sena 20S EVO Bluetooth Headset for $300 and a pair of them for $550. Of course, this headset is only sold by approved Harley-Davidson dealers.
Let me explain further about the "Harley-Davidson Tax". You see, Harley-Davidson & Harman Kardon, the maker of the Boom Box, really screwed up from the beginning back in 2014 by not building the system to pair "directly" with a wireless Bluetooth headset. Let's keep in mind that direct Bluetooth headset pairing was old technology in 2014 and they still didn't build it in.
So, after years of customer complaints and frustrations, Harley decided, as usual, to pass their huge mistake onto the customers, never admitting any fault. Harley created the WHIM, Wireless Headset Interface Module, as an add-on item customers could purchase for $300 and another harness for $50 that some models will need. Then they push for you to have the dealership put it on and charge you for the install. Really, I'm not making this up and it seems unreal. By installing the WHIM, you'll be able to pair the HD branded Sena 20s headset to the Boom Box. Interesting though, because the Sena Freewire has been out for years now and already does this without a WHIM, but we'll get to that a bit later.
And if that wasn't enough Harley taxes, they took it even a step further. To get full HD "stereo" sound you'll have to buy the Harley branded (stamped) Boom! Audio Sena 20S EVO Bluetooth Headset. You may get other Bluetooth headsets to pair, but you'll only get mono sound and it sounds terrible, trust me. Yes, Sena makes the HD branded 20s EVO headset and no, the regular non-HD branded Sena 20s will not get stereo sound. So, you're now forced to buy everything from Harley to fix their direct Bluetooth pairing problem. - Auta a dopravní prostředky

Will the Boom! on a 2019 HD Street Glide be compatible with the Sena SRL2 communication system? I want to get the new Shoei GT Air 2, and that’s what comes with that helmet. I need to make sure if it will connect with my bike or not before I purchase it.
@@kimberlylettner4562 yes not all of the functions. Harley is a marketer like everyone else. I have the HD EVO and the WHIM but it's nice to tell the INFOTAINMENT what to do. It crackles if too loud so even with the high windshield and modular helmet it's hard to hear at around 65mph but I'm understood. Perhaps I can adjust stuff better but it works.

I use the wired headsets on my 2015 Ultra Limited but was curious about wireless so I played this vid. Was having an issue with telephone volume during calls, even with the volume all the way up. Now I know what that “Volume Setup” configuration setting was for. Went there and found the setting set super low. Thanks for this vid man! Ride safe!

This was helpful. Make sure all firmware/software is up to date. I updated the Sena 20S firmware, but it would not pair with my '18 CVO Street Glide with older Boom software (v1.22.01). Once I updated to the current version (v1.22.02), no problems.
learned a lot from your video thanks. We have a problem with the passenger can't hear the rider on the intercom. what do we have to change?
Great video tutorial for the 2018 version. I have a 2019 Street Glide and the screen displays on the Boom Infotainment system are different. How about another tutorial to show the changes on the 2019? Or if there is one, direct me to it.

Had really low / distorted audio with WHIM @ 1.02 and Harley 20s @ 1.7.6 I updated this weekend to 1.7.7 and sound quality is much better

The audio multitasking on my 2020 ultra limited boom box gts is operational. When it's enabled the next feature will now work which is int-audio multitasking, but if you have audio multitasking disabled the Int-audio multitasking is grayed out.

Humberto Vallejo you know if I’m able to use this boom sena as a normal sena?
I have a Reg. Sena 20S. I just purchased a 2018 Street Glide Special. What I did as a temp. is not pair the Sena to the boom box (can't be done anyway without WHIM). My I-phone is paired to the Boom box. My work around is audio/music is playing out of boom box via my I-phone. Press command on Sena. Sena will ask, "say a command." I then say," next". Sena confirms, "Next" and then audio jumps from boom box to Sena as Sena takes command and audio comes through Sena. I-phone music selection is still displayed on boom. Incoming phone calls will display on boom box but DO not accept via Boom. use Sena directly to accept call. Sometime system gets confused between Sena and Boom with phone calls this way and there will be No navigation into Sena. Basically this is a workaround for music but 'm getting the WHIM and buying a new H-D Sena wireless headset. Very expensive! But as you stated, "Pay the Harley Tax!"
Hi Ryan, your video is great and it has been a big help, but have you tried to connect a second 20S EVO for a passenger. I can't seem to get my wife's to work (all functions) when she connects into the system. I've tried to match the configurations. I have a Sena Momentum helmet. that works great when I ride solo. When she is with me she can't hear my intercom very well. I think I understand the configs but I'm missing something.
Have the 20s EVO that came with 2018 FLHTKSE set up and working but I seldom use the helmet. Would like to try the HD SPH10. Since there is only one setup for the rider headset would I need to remove and reconnect the rider setup each time I went from the SPH10 to the 20s EVO? I assume that would also mean going through all the setting options each time.
I already have a 50r for all my other bikes. Im not spending extra for this. Garbage. Thank you for the video and instructions
I understand the Freewire currently is not compatible with the new Sena SLR for Shoei NeoTech II, so my wife can not connect to our 2017 Ultra Limited.
Intercom light on boom box keeps flashing on and off. This makes sound in Sena do the same. Any ideas?
Hello - Great video. I have been using mu EVO 20s and Boom on my 2019 CVO Road Glide and have a major issue. When riding 2 up and connected using intercom, the wind noise is ever present. It seems to be coming from the passenger microphone but I cannot find a way to adjust the mic sensitivity (VOX?) and there is no way I have found to reduce the wind noise. It also caused my music to cut volume in and out as the wind triggers the sensitivity. Makes listening to music and riding with intercom most infuriating. Found lots of complaints on the internet but no solutions. Sena's app also does not have any settings for this. Help please!
I have just bought into the WHIM and the new HD/Sena 50s package when I bought my new 2021 Road Glide Ltd. Its been frustrating to get set-up. Seems the dealership is not very familiar and/or well trained. As you know this is an expensive package to buy - especially when all cars and most bikes have B/T functionality baked in. This post is excellent and I will walk through your set-up instructions hoping that the 50s is similar. If there are alternate posts - please redirect me. THANK YOU!!
I have a question. The button on the base of the headset. On some models this button is for ambient sound however mine activated the voice prompts...is there a way to get the ambient sound feature?
Ryan, I have the HD Boom Audio 30k on my full face helmet and wanted to know if it will pair with my Sena SPH10H headset that I use on my half helmet? I would think they would since Sena makes the HD one.
I know this is an old video, but it just helped me immensely. I recently upgraded the BCM on my 2014 Ultra Classic, and added TPMS functionality. However, for some unknown reason I lost getting prompts or music thru headset. Worked for days to no avail. History....when I installed the WHIM 2 yrs ago, I could not get the headset to pair to the bike. The dealer told me, I had to pair the headset to the phone, and the phone to the bike for it to work, so that was how I ran it.
When I saw you put your Sena 20s next to the screen and it paired, it made me think. It paired, but it has to be within 2" or so or the bike misses it. I still do not have the configure button, but I also read a couple years ago, that only comes on with HD branded Senas. Mine is a 20s evo, but not HD. Thats OK, I can live without that button.

All 100% Harley Davidson parts. I should add, this only works on '14 and later bikes with the Boom 6.5 GT or later as well.

Morning Ryan. I talked with my HD dealer yesterday. He told me that the crackling noises is due to the units is trying to pick up the Bluetooth on my iPhone and WHIM . I should plug phone in to my dash USB compartment and push Media. Have not tried just yet.. this evening when I return home.. share with me please what is the loudest settings I need to set up PLEASE..thanks again Ryan.. I still plan on visiting the dealer Friday afternoon..

Have you tried the new senna with camera
Ryan, I purchased the harley whim and sena/harley expand headset and installed the whim and drivers software, had it flashed at my harley dealer and cannot get the headset to connect . also i have loaded the updated software in my headset. Any suggestions ? 2019 Road Glide
2017 RGU boombox 6.5GT.1.22.0.1 ..........INT-Audio Sensitivity is on and mine was set to 8.
They need to fix infotainment to hold multiple profiles for rider and passenger ie. 20s and SPH 10.
As it is now seems you have to forget the 20s to use the 10 and visa versa. Does anyone know
if it forgets your settings when forgetting the 20s?

What is WIM ?
I know this is an old video but just now looking at BT headsets for myself and my wife. Will the 20s work on a half-helmet, if not which one do you recommend? Another thing, I will only be using the headset speakers to answer call, communicate with my wife (passenger) or use voice commands to my GTS. Will this model be sufficient?

I do have a question that either I missed as you were explaining things, or maybe it hasn't been answered yet: If I pair my Harley-branded 20S to my Boom system (via WHIM), can I also pair to other riders' Sena 20s headsets in intercom mode at the same time? Or is there a limitation where it can only be connected to one at a time, either the Boom or the Intercom but not both? Same question for the Freewire setup. Thanks, great stuff man!
Yes, you can pair the second headset to work as an intercom and to hear music.

Which Shoei is that? I just returned a shoe neotec 2 because it won't work nor fit on that helmet. Please let me know which model that is please.

I have a 2019 CVO Limited with Sena 20s evo Harley stamped and an iPhone 12 Pro …my apple carplay works well except for my phone. I can use Siri to make a call however once connected I cannot hear the person I called and they cannot hear me. What am I doing wrong? Can anyone help? Thank you
I've got a 2018 Road Glide Special with the Boom! Box 6.5GT and a Boom Audio 20s EVO Bluetooth Helmet Headset Dual Pack. I keep attempting to connect my headset to my motorcycle using the Bluetooth connection but when I attempt to add the device the setup fails and I don't understand why. Can you possibly help? Am I still possibly stuck by this idiotic whim issue? I can add my mobile phone to the motorcycle but not my headset. Is that unusual?
Not clear on a couple of things.
1. I just bought a 2019 RGS wanted to keep cell phone plugged in and charging in the faring compartment rather then on a handlebar mount. Will incoming calls show on Boom Box screen such as "who" is calling?
2. With the Sena 30K can a use voice commands to make a phone call (such as "Call John Smith")? If Yes, do I start this action by pressing the voice command toggle on the handlebars?
3. Would you recommend a "WHIM w/ a HD Sena 30K or a Sena Freewire with a regular Sena 30K?

When you said we need the "HD stamped" Sena 20S... are you talking about the part who is fixed to the helmet or the part who is mobile and have all the buttons and command ? or the both ? I have a normal 20S on my helmet but have a HD one on my son's helmet. Is it enough to cross the mobiles part ?. Anyhow thanks for all your great video, even if sometimes your speedy english give me some hard time with my pore one; I love to listen and watch your chanel.

Thanks. I did switch my Sena 20S "normal" and my Sena "HD Stamped": the difference is amazing: the quality is much better, really, and with the normal 20S I wasn't able to see the charge of the battery and have no access to the button to setup the device. So definitively it's worth to have a HD one. But really a lot expansive to correct a HD's mistake and less of consideration of there customer. By chance I had a HD one one my son's helmet... Thank you Ryan, excellent video as always, I'm a proud owner of the 2018 Street Glide CVO which went stock Whim equipped. Unfortunately I'm also owner of the SHOEI NEOTECH II helmet and I should be interested in the specifically designed Senna Headset for this helmet which has a much more cleaner look instead of the HD Senna 20 evo, but should loose stereo sound for music. As my mother language is not English, perhaps am I wrong, but when I hear your video on this subject, I have understood that all other functionalities were OK and compatible with boom box beside this music stereo problem ?
By the way, I'm looking for a seat more comfortable than the stock one but without too sacrify the lean look. What is the brand name of the one on your bike in this video ?

Just curious, since you have tried both the WHIM and the Freewire, which did you decide to utilize on your bike? It seems you stuck with the WHIM? I'm trying to decide which direction to go. Currently have a Neotec II with SLR integrated and I read that the Freewire doesn't work with it?? So, in that case purchasing additional equipment is necessary. But I really wanted to know what your preference has been. Thanks!
I only bought the WHIM for this channel and to review it. No way in heck would I have wasted my money and paid the Harley tax had it not been for this channel and to help bikers. Each to his own though. The WHIM is pretty good, but it's just so expensive to fix Harley's problem they created. We have not tried it.
Just curious why would you want older tech with the 20s has known issues. When the 30 is out now with better integration and comm links between riders?
It's currently what is specifically designed to work with the HD WHIM for full Boom integration.

Ryan Urlacher Just sucks they are so behind with the infotainment and headsets. Guess it’s a way for SENA to pawn off all unsold units. Also the 30 uses all the same stuff so no reason why it would work with the Harley system.
I have a new Sena 20S EVO with Freewire from Revzilla going onto a HD Road Glide. Should I have purchased the Sena 20S EVO (Harley Davidson Logo) in order to receive Stereo? Haven't opened the box yet.

I changed the setting to my bikes speakers ask you said I could.
I now notice that INT flashes and cuts the volume constantly at volume
What is this ?
If I disable INT this issue goes away but if I do that will I be able to talk to others ?

Video is fine and helps great.But I got a problem with noise that resembles popcorn popping in the background when using the WHIM with Harley 20S Evo.WHIM SW 1.02 and Evo 1.7.7. I hear music over speakers and phone and nav over headset. the noise muts be between WHIM and headset bluetotth connection. Has anyone a tip?
I have the same problem. It sounds like popcorn popping or glass bottles banging together! Does anyone else have this problem? HD & Sena do not respond to questions asked about this problem other than "Reset the headset"! Sena customer service sucks!

Is it neccessary to pair rider and passenger to boom box or is it benefical in any way? (instead of just using the interkom between rider and passenger?)
So your rider can listen to the same music as you if you like......

Ryan just wondering because I plugged into USB and when a call came in which was good audio my music cut off as well as GPS but when the Call ended my music and GPS sound never came back on..I stopped my Streetglide and had to push play agin on my iPhone.. what’s going on??
Just many of the different bugs that the Boom Box system continues to have that they cannot correct over many years. It's been a constant battle. You don't have to plug in via the USB. You can connect via BT. We have videos to help ==> www.lawabidingbiker.com/harleyboombox

Thanks Ryan. I had the HD dealer install a WHIM and we're having trouble pairing the H-D 20s. Didn't get the "Wireless Headset" menu after install and flashing. Dealer is wracking their brains trying to figure it out. Any suggestions? I am able to pair my iPhone 6s with the 4.3.
I'd suggest watching our entire WHIM install video on this channel along with dealer menu items that need to be properly checked. Many dealerships do it wrong.

How could you explain that when I accelerate the sound of my music is going down and when I lift the throttle the sound is going up. I try all sort of set up. Do,you have a solution?
Turn off your VOX in your system. When you bike is getting loud the VOX is kicking on thinking you want to lower the volume and speak. I had to do this.
Ryan Urlacher Another one: when my passenger is talking to me through the headset, the sound is very low and when I am answering no sound at all...I am frustrated to see how come we don't have a lot of infos from HD. We are quite lucky to have you. I installed all my Whim following your instructions and every thing went well. More than that, when I went to the dealer, I have to explain myself why I needed a flash...obviously they don't sell a lot of Whimmies....great job Ryan. HD should pay you!

I'm not sure if you are saying HD should add WHIM to all touring bikes and charge everyone whether they want it or not, or if you're saying they should include it and not charge for it. Or, maybe you're saying they included it in the price and then didn't give it to you. Just not clear.
The Boom Box should have had Bluetooth headset capability out of the box. Standard. They should put it on all bikes stock. It's 2020 and this is not new technology. Hope that helps.
