Thanks for watching!! - Jak na to + styl
I absolutely love Aurora's singing voice, it's so much different from all of the other princesses' voices.
It always had a mature sound to it that was so different, I loved it! It really set her apart from the others for me.
The only princess voiced by an opera singer
i think Sleeping beauty dresses is pink now is because Cinderella's iconic dress is blue. So for marketing reasons they all have their signature color. love your channel
I was thinking the exact same thing.
Also, why is cinderella's dress blue anyway? wasn't white/silver in the movie?
what stands out to me about Sleeping Beauty is how well some of the humor holds up! It has some really funny scenes
Justine W So true!
imSarahSnitch Aurora is the first disney princess in which BOTH her parents are still alive.
imSarahSnitch Could you Do Pinocchio?
imSarahSnitch Could you do Pinocchio?
no carrots
The thing that has always stood out to me about Sleeping Beauty was how true in some respects it stayed to the history of which it is based in. As an amateur historian with most of my knowledge residing in medieval and Renaissance Europe, I can with a lot of certainty say that Sleeping Beauty was one of the films that started my love of history, it even looks like some art that came out of medieval England! It might not be perfect, but it certainly stuck to its guns and gave us a beautiful film that still holds up to this day! And perhaps a fun film for the next Down to Disness might be Robin Hood! Keep it up with the great work, I love this series!
I love the aesthetic of Sleeping Beauty, and the music (mostly cause it's derived from the Tchaikovsky Sleeping Beauty ballet score). It's just so rich and gorgeous. As a music nerd I would love to see you talk about Fantasia if you like it! I know it's kind of a polarizing movie but I'm a big fan
Sleeping Beauty has always been my favorite Disney Movie. It has to do with the music and the dancing and because even at a very young age without really understanding why I loved stories about medieval Europe. As an adult I love the art style and the history of it. Also, just as a side note, her dress is blue for like 98% of the time it is seen on screen. Why the pink dress? Why?
I did hear that they started dressing her in pink so that she wouldn't be confused with Cinderella (who wears blue but should wear silver or grey because her dress is definitely not blue).
That's exactly what I think about the dress! It's so annoying because the blue is just so much prettier on her and really doesn't look like Cinderella at all, the styles of the dress alone are so different. And Ariel has a pink dress she walks around in so why does it matter? I just hope to see her in her blue dress again sometime. I was hoping they would bring it back this year for the Diamond Celebration since everything is blue.
Lyn S: Thank you for pointing out Cinderella's dress is SILVER in the movie. Disney should make it Silver in the park as well for the costumed character and give the blue color gown back to Aurora!
Sleeping Beauty always stood out to me when I was a child, even though I was terrified of Maleficent, I insisted on watching the film anyway because I loved it. Aurora remains to be one of my favourite princesses to this day.
Carys Wells i was terrified of Malifcent too
I wasn't initially afraid of Maleficent, but when she became a fire-breathing dragon I was scared stiff. When I first saw this in the movies at age 4 I hid my face.
I love Sleeping Beauty because I think Maleficent is one of the best Disney villains, and Prince Phillip is one of the best princes! I also love Aurora as a princess, I think she's one of the prettiest! I went to Disney World when I was little and had a half an hour long chat with Aurora at one of the parks because no one else was waiting to see her and I loved her so much!
I always felt for Maleficent because it WAS rude to exclude her from the christening... And then to rub salt into the wound by saying, "You weren't wanted!" (Way to go, Merryweather -- This whole mess is YOUR fault!) ... I'm glad they made that live-action version that casts Maleficent in a more positive light.
And she's the only person ever to get away with using the word "hell" in a Disney movie!
It's clear what you should do next. Lilo and Stitch! Hence the profile photo. But seriously, you should do the renassaince films.
I always loved the battle between Prince Phillip and Malificent at the end, it's so epic!!
Max Winters ikr
They should've just compromised and made her dress purple. It would've looked so good that way!
I know that would have made things so much easier
Amanda Wynn or green....
Amanda Wynn shouldve been green
I like during the curse part when everything is tinted green. The music in the background is literally calling Aurora by name.
Purple would've been cool too. I know the parks have done a purple dress for Aurora during the holidays at WDW in the past. Not sure on the year tho maybe 2008 or so.
+Amanda Wynn I concur!!!!
I like Sleeping Beauty because it influenced one of my favorite parts of Fantasmic!
Aldy Waldy Murphy?
-18 lines? Goodness, I knew it wasn't many, but wow!
-Gosh, I never knew about the cookies :).
-A loss?! WHAT?
The castle is definitely the main thing that stands out for me too because it always reminds me of the parks and it is so iconic. I'd love to see Aurora start appearing in her blue dress again though! I can't wait for next months episode!
I've always had a soft spot for Sleeping Beauty and it was nice to learn all these fun facts! Thanks, Sarah! I think you should do The Princess and The Frog next!!
I have never actually seen Sleeping Beauty.... probably should get to watching it sometime.
It's a beautiful movie
Whaaaaaaaaaat!!??!!
Whitney Sews its a great movie
I love "Once a Upon a Dream"😍💖
Sleeping Beauty has always been my favorite Disney Classic princess movie, mostly because of Maleficent! She'll forever be my favorite villain =]
I love the art in Sleeping Beauty, the fact that she has 3 moms (um, 4 if you count...her mom), the fact that they reworked the story so that she meets her Prince *before* he kisses her, & the fact that her castle was based on one of the ones designed by King Ludwig II, who is such an interesting historical figure.
of course I'd love to see you cover little mermaid and Mulan. but since this series is about pop culture impact I think some of the flops might be in order. disney has been shaped as much by its failures as its successes so how about black cauldron or great mouse detective? neither one did well but both shaped the way disney movies were made afterword.
Alexander Mac Kay Such a good idea
Alexander Mac Kay Very good point!
I can't wait for Beauty and the Beast - Down To Disness!! :D
It's important to note that there are two different castles for the two different parks. Disney Land was based on Sleeping Beauty and Disney World was based on Cinderella's. Both were inspired by Neuschwanstein Castle in Germany.
One thing I've always loved it the background art. I think it is just so beautiful and stunning
My sister's friend's sister (big relation, I know) lives in Knoxville, TN and had a baby and decided to name it Aurora, and Mary Costa herself came and blessed the baby and visited the whole family after the baby's birth. So sweet.
I love Disney Land Paris's sleeping beauty castle because the dragon is underneath and you can go and see it!! Soooo cooooll!
I just have to say it again... Down to Disness is my favorite CZcams series EVER! Would love to see one on Dumbo.
Yay, I'm always stoked to see a Down to Disness video! The thing that always stuck with me about Sleeping Beauty was Maleficent. She absolutely scared the bejeebers out of me as a child (seriously, there were actual nightmares that I still remember) and in all honesty still freaks me out now. Also, 'Once Upon a Dream' is still one of my favorite Disney songs. And Merryweather is one of my all time favorite Disney characters! There's so much to love about this movie.
I learn so much from these videos & always look forward to them. Thank you so much for posting them!
Thanks for making these Sarah!
It was fabulous as always. I love how you take the time do all this research on a film just for your viewers, it's so sweet.
Oh, and ps, I would really like to see you do one of the black cauldron, it's one of my favorites :)
YAYY you did sleeping beauty i'm so happy. i've always loved sleeping beauty and aurora has always been my favorite because we have the same name
Ah, my favorite of the classic Disney films. It's just so beautiful.
I didn't see Sleeping Beauty that much as a child, but the fairies always stood out to me. I loved them! Particularly when they made the cake. That cake looked delicious!
This is one of my favorite movie series on CZcams. Great work!
Hey Sarah!!! Thanks to you and Courtoon, I started my pin collection today!! YAAAAYY! I am so excited for this!
I've only just discovered your channel, but this is what I've been waiting for my whole life, thank you so much for these!
I love these videos. I drop everything when I see a new one has been posted.
I saw Sleeping Beauty for the very first time last year. Absolutely beautiful film.
So interesting about how the same actors voices were in so many films. Crazy?! I feel like the Little Mermaid is due for a down to disness episode. Thanks Sarah for all the fun info on a classic film!
The forest scene in sleeping beauty is one of my all time favorite Disney scenes! It is so visually beautiful and I also love the song. Also, aurora is hair goals.
These make my day Sarah! Love these!
Nice channel. Subbed
Great video. I just recently saw Sleeping Beauty my family and I really enjoyed it. It's amazing how they were able to that style of art.
I love the art in this movie. I consider it as such a great inspiration.
I just watched Sleeping Beauty for the first time in my adulthood last Christmas and it's immaculate. Beautiful imagery, wonderful songs and score. I definitely love it!
Sleeping Beauty's score is beautiful! It feels really magical and very Disney to me ❤️
I'm so happy that she did this video! My two friends and i are disneybounding as flora, fauna, and merryweather tomorrow for Disneyland!
So happy for this! I definitely needed to see this since it picked me up to do a very dreaded tedious task. suggestions: A Goofy Movie, Bambi, Fantasia, heck, anything! Just keep 'em coming! Thank you and have a magical day!
Sleeping beauty has been my favourite Disney movie and maybe even my favourite animated movie! I will have to agree that film is visually stunning, the characters are all so different in their own ways! I'm still undecided about what colour her dress should be! When I was younger I thought pink but now I'm kinda thinking blue! Another great video and one that I've been waiting for!
Sarah these Down to Disness videos are so amazing & very informative, thank you for making them! The Little Mermaid or Tangled would be good choices for your next video.
I love Down to Disness because even though I pride myself on knowing my Disney history, I learn something new every time I watch these! :D
Great, great video, Sarah! :)
Sleeping beauty was the movie I watched the least T^T I highly regret not knowing more about it D: As I watched Cinderella, The Lion King, Peter Pan and Mulan over and over and over when a little girl x'D
And Gosh the live action model is so beautiful. LET ME BE HER xD
Princess Aurora is my favorite Disney princess. Thank you for the information you provided.
Very interesting stuff. I like the trivia about Aurora's lack of lines. Did not know that.
Well she is asleep for half of the movie, and if she isn't asleep it's in her childhood.
Makes sense. Just never thought about it.
Great video Sarah! Sleeping Beauty is one of my faves 😄
That's so funny about the animators and the script!!! I love it. Thanks for an AMAZING video.
Love these, all the cool info none of the personal leg work, let's see LILO & stitch
Sleeping Beauty was my childhood favorite Disney film. And I've always said it is hands down the most beautiful of the Disney animated films. So glad there are people who can agree on that without talking about how Aurora is such an awful princess.
Sleeping Beauty was always my favorite Disney movie. It was a visually beautiful movie.
I always love these so much! I love Sleeping Beauty for similar reasons to you. It reminds me of the parks and the animation is unique and stunning. I got the diamond edition on blu-ray and I can't get over how good it looks. I think you should do Lion King next! Thanks for the great video as always Sarah!!!
Sleeping Beauty basically has my favorite princess, prince, villain, fairies, and bird. So you could say that I absolutely love the film.
omg I got so excited when I saw this 😂😂😍😍 especially since its sleeping beauty!!
Same
Great video! Down to Disness is always so interesting. I never really liked Sleeping Beauty story-wise, but there's no denying that it is a visually beautiful film. I think it'd be cool if you did one of the less popular Disney movies next, like The Black Cauldron!
Reasons to love Sleeping Beauty:
1. Maleficent
2. The medieval-ness of it. prince Philip slaying a dragon, the historical fashions, angular artwork, it looks like the art style of the late Middle Ages
3. Skumps! Skumps! Skuuuuuumps!!!
MarianLyric SKUMPS!!!!!
I love love LOVE your down to disneness videos! Please never stop them haha. My request is either beauty and the beast or lilo&stitch
I love these series I got so excited when I saw this💜 you should do Mulan next!!
Beauty and the Beast or Fantasia would make awesome episodes! I've always loved sleeping beauty's film style. it's very regal just like aurora. I also always think of Disneyland too, so many memories. the imagery is unlike any other princess movie, so stunning
Fantasia would be amazing omg
Loved this one! Aurora has always been one of my favorites. My usual counterpoint to the whole only 18 lines thing is yes, but it's 18 lines of pure sass. She has way more personality than the previous princesses (when she isn't under the sleeping spell).I would love to see one on The Aristocats!
Hunchback down to disness!!
Your Down to Disness videos are my favorite thing on the internet! I love them and you so much!!! You should do a Beauty and the Beast one or The Hunchback of Notre Dame (a lot of people don't like it but it's one of my favorites) :)
I love these videos so much. Can't wait for Beauty and the Beast!
I always enjoy watching your Down to Disness videos!! I absolutely love learning about Disney history. I never knew about the Mickey Mouse cookies though... that's really interesting! It probably wasn't intentional, but in the picture you used at 0:38 , the third bush has two bushes behind it that kind of looks like a hidden Mickey, but that's just me lol. Great video!! :))
I had to go and check and you're right! It totally looks lie that haha nice find!
Miranda Perry haha thank you!! I'm glad I'm not the only one LOL
When is the next down to disness coming out? I love this segment so much!
great video as always, Sarah! I love this series so much! maybe you could do Beauty & the Beast next?? Love you! 💜
Hey Sarah, I saw you get in line for Peter Pan today but got out before I could say hello due to the heat, I don't blame you, I almost died the heat was so bad. Well, great videos. Keep em commin.
I didn't know that about the dress color... That's so cool!
And please do a Down to Disness on Pinocchio!! :) I absolutely love these videos.
I love sleeping beauty castle since its original piece of Disneyland history. But if it was Snow White's Castle..... I think the walk threw would be really cute.
This one was my favorite when I was young and well now🤗
Cool info!
Actually I never liked Aurora aus a kid because of the fact that she has nearly no lines in her own movie. But now I love her actually a lot :D
I would be so happy if you could do Hunchback of Notre Dame. That is my favorite Disney
I'm not really sure what "stands out'' but Sleeping Beauty has always been my favorite Disney movie and Aurora has always been my favorite princess
She's my faveeee
Do The Aristocats or Lilo and Stitch next! I love the Down to Disness series so much!
Sleeping beauty has always been my favourite:) Although I don't really have a specific reason for it.
I love your Down to Disness series! I would love to see one on Pinocchio! It was my favorite movie as a child (despite all of its creepy/scary scenes).
Nice job on the video, enjoy it.
YES! My favourite Disney pricess movie
I think this comment might be a little late but what I really love the most about this movie is that the music is taken from Tchaikovsky's sleeping beauty music for ballet, amazing music he wrote with the help of coreographer Petipa. They changed it a little but its amazing how they did it.
I would loooove to see a down to disness: brother bear 🐻 absolut fave because of the stunning artwork
What stands out to me the most about Sleeping Beauty is that my great grandfather, Eric Cleworth, animated the entire scene with Maleficent's dragon!
Hi Sarah, i just wanted to stop by and say thank you so much to you and your boyfriend for taking the time to say hi and take a picture with my fiancé out side of the haunted mansion today, it meant a lot to her. i personally had never watched your videos but i have subbed now. anything disney is ok in my book. i vlog too but didn't want to put you on the spot by recording when we said hi. Any way, i just wanted to say thanks and it was very nice of you both.
Great video as always! I would love to see an episode about Mulan! :)
This is all so interesting! Thank you! :-)
Sleeping beauty was actually on tv like two weeks ago, and I hadn't seen it in a long time! I now remember why I loved it so much! The three fairies were awesome, and Aurora is my second favorite princess (Belle first 😉). And Maleficent is just so good at being evil! I loved learning more about Sleeping Beauty. I really enjoy this series, Sarah! xoxo
I'm super late on watching this but in case you still were wondering about Aurora's parks dress, I was told it is because each princess is supposed to have a "colour palette"/uniquely coloured dress. This is apparently why Ariel is in a teal dress when she is on legs-- But that doesn't make a ton of sense since Jasmine is also teal. But if you look at all the others, none of them really have any overlapping solid colours. I think she is in pink now to prevent anyone from mixing her up with Cinderella, who also meets in blue. (:
I LOVE Down to Disness! I love learning new and interesting things about Disney! I also feel like 101 Dalmatians would be a great topic for an episode because of its history. :)
That's hilarious about the dress fight!
These videos are great. Reminds me of the Disney Story Origins podcast.
Love this series! If haven't done this movies I would love to see them. Aladdin, beauty and the beast, Hercules, Pocahontas, and rescuers. Just to name a few. Thanks for sharing.
Collect The Toys I've done Aladdin, but I will get to the others!
Ivand Earl is a Legend. I just adore him!!!
I've never seen Sleeping Beauty for some reason but now I think I should!
Happy Birthday Sleeping Beauty!
