Thanks for watching!!
Pete's dragon is one of my ultimate favourite Disney movies. It takes me right back to my childhood. I just can't believe that more people don't love it.
I love pausing the movie on Elliot's face when Mickey Rooney and Red Skeleton are in the cave. They're talking about a scary monster and Elliot's getting scared because he doesn't know they're talking about him. The faces he makes are priceless! We did that when I was a kid (pause the movie), and I still do it to this day. And I'm in my thirties now. ❤❤😄😄
Yeah! The Electrical Parade was awesome by far. 😍
I remember finding Pete's Dragon at the library, and I absolutely loved the cute story line and the songs. It was a bit silly but also dealt with some serious issues (like the fact that Pete ran away from an abusive family). The songs were fun; Elliot made me laugh. I would borrow the tape every time I saw it on the shelf. :) It's not popular, but it's something I really loved, and it's great to see it get some appreciation and to know that other people liked it, too.
You should do Who Framed Roger Rabbit sometime! For some reason it really doesn't seem very Disney to me and I'm really curious about it!
It is totally an oddball for Disney, it is very adult compared to a lot of their other movies! It is one of my favorites though.
I want to see you talk about The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad. One of my less-remembered favorites!
We started playing "Brazzle Dazzle Day" in the Disney Store theater, which I had never heard until then, and it's constantly in my head now. Thanks for all the info Sarah! I'm going to watch the original soon.
I've never seen Petes dragon, but this has certainly sparked my interest in seeing it
You should do Brother Bear next! No one ever talks about it. :(
Hi Sarah!! Pete's Dragon is 1 of many favorites! The music, the special effects and so on are all awesome! my favorite parts is when Elliott cooked an apple for Pete and when he became visible at the end of the movie. that was awesome! I actually have Pete's Dragon on vhs. I need to watch it..such a great movie!!
The music in this movie is Epic. I absolutely LOVE this movie and grew up with it as well. After seeing this review I want to suggest Bedknobs and Broomsticks... With Halloween coming up it just brings back so many memories :) thanks for another great video!
The end of Pete's Dragon makes me cry like a baby. I love the relationship between Elliot and Pete, and just how weird this movie is.
Why do you not have MORE subscribers you deserve a BILLION subscribers. Hope you
and Leo had an amazing anniversary
You are very kind! Thanks for supporting my channel.
This movie inspired me to move to the ocean. I've lived here ever since acquiring the original video tape in 1993.
Please do beauty and the beast I've been asking for this for months pleasssee❤️
and I thought I was the only one who liked Pete's dragon! lol
This film is one of my all time favourites too. I really enjoyed hearing all these facts I didn't know before. I haven't seen the remake yet but the original is so underrated :)
Pete's Dragon is one of my mom's favourite Disney movies and I think she passed that love onto me haha :D I really love this movie because it's adorable and charming and the songs are so catchy
Another great Down to Disness. Even for people who watch the movie and don't like it, it's hard not to love Elliot, he's just adorable. Not to fussed on seeing the new version. I've only seen the original, maybe twice but it's a cute movie :) xxx
oh my gosh!! I LOOOVED Pete's Dragon!
I watched Pete's Dragon on repeat as a child. Elliot has always been one of my favorite characters. I enjoyed the remake. It wasn't as magical as the original, but it still had that beautiful story of a young boy & his dragon. And I loved that the new Elliot was fluffy lol. The original will always hold a special place in my 💚 and I always encourage others to watch it.
love petes dragon!!! its one of my favourite films growing up and i am really excited my younger family members can have this as apart of their childhood like not only i did but my mum did as she was born the year of release love this movie so much! so many great memories💜
Childhood fav
Yes! My favorite Disney movie!
I didn't like the remake either just wasn't as good 😕
yeah the original will always be the best Pete's dragon movie #1977betterthanthe2016remake1977isbetter#
Thanks Sarah for doing this series! I am one of those weirdos who really liked all the songs from Pete's Dragon. Haha! I would love for you to cover Mulan :)
What!? I just realised neither your channel nor thinamavlogs have that many subscribers? I need to tell all my friend of this channel! These channels are pure pure gold
I love this movie! One of my favorite Disney movies for sure. The music is amazing!
IT IS FINALLY HERE!! Thank you for doing Pete's dragon Sarah!! This is my favorite CZcams series ever
Jim Dale was also in many Carry On films which are awesome so thanks for telling me about this!!
Bedknobs and Broomsticks!
I like when Elliott comes through the wall of the school!
I don't know why people don't like petes dragon. I think it's such a funny and classic movie
I loved the songs and how crazy it is. The Main Street Electrical Parade float was cool.
I love Pete's Dragon! I spent a lot of time as a child at my grandmas house, and Pete's Dragon (and Swiss Family Robinson) were two of the few VHS's she had. I watched it so many times and loved it! Then seeing it again as an adult I realized holy crap, there are so many songs in this movie! Seriously......so many songs!
As soon as I saw the title of this video, I knew you would bring up Jim Dale! Haha. He was also the narrator for 'Pushing Daisies'. Best voice ever.
Love love love your down to Disness vlogs. I love hearing about these classic films. Great job Sarah.
Love this movie and hearing the history was great!
I did not know this movie even existed until my first Electrical Light Parade this summer! It didn't really get to Mexico...
Another fun fact: there's an episode of Pushing Daisies that was an homage to this movie, all toed back to Jim Dale, who narrated the series in addition to Harry Potter.
This is one of my favorite movies. I love all the songs & the cast :) Thanks for the great information! :)
I grew up in an abusive home. This was one of my favorite movies growing up.
I like "Pete's Dragon" because I like any film or story about nice, not evil or vicious, dragons, and also I've always had a thing for Helen Reddy.
I don't know what it's called, but the song "there's room for everyone in this world...." was my favourite from the film
Pete's Dragon...my last movie I saw in theaters as a kid, before moving to Germany!! I will always love that movie and the first Rescuers, because those movies where made when I was a kid. All the other movies prior where made pre 1969.
I love the original Pete's Dragon, and was one of the first movies that my mom taped off of the tv for me and my brother (I think it was shown on the wonderful world of disney at the time) I did recognize that that was Jim Dale rewatching it, and loved that he was so animated in this movie. I actually got a stuffed Elliott from Build-a-Bear, because he is one of my favorite characters. I think my favorite song was "I swear I saw a dragon"
A lot of the stuff they did in the movie they couldn't do today. with the abusive gulgins and the scenes in the tavern, especially Mickey Rooney's town drunken fool (kinda was sad robert redford seemed like that was where his character was going but no) I feel like Disney would want to play it safe, and did so with this remake which kind of falls flat compared to the other ones that they have released
I have an original Pete's Dragon movie poster! I loved seeing Elliot in the Main Street Electrical Parade. In fact, those wacky dragon sounds tickled me! :)
I had a stuffed dragon named after Elliot, although I got it at about age two so it has always been pronounced Ellie-ent do to child speech. That is my favorite stuffed animal and at almost 28 it still sits in a shelf being held onto. That alone makes this movie feel magical to me. But the music and the animation have always been something I've loved
My mum's favourite Disney movie, I have fond memories of watching this as a kid. I haven't watched the original in a long time.
also, next month suggestion: Oliver And Company!!!
Thank you for finally taking my suggestion!!!!
That I requested like 9 months ago lol!
I actually just rewatched it and I have to say I loved it. I had flashbacks of this movie, but I didn't even remember the plot, it's actually pretty great and so different from all the other disney live actions of that time, because let's face it, most of them were boring, but pete's dragon is really entertaining and it highlights the whole imagination as a kid thing. It was the kind of weird I like, weird enough for it to be a good movie. Plus the dr. terminus' song passamashloddy is really funny. And well, after harry potter and lord of the rings, no movie is too long.
You can visit where the lighthouse was in Montana De Oro near San Luis Obispo where I'm goin to college! ;)
SARAH!!! you're so close to 50 thousand subscribers I remember when you had like 12 thousand go girl!!
wooo!!! thanks!
I knew there was a reason I loved you so much! Hahaha petes dragon has been by favorite pre-renaissance movie since I watched it the first time when I was like 6.
Childhood favorite and now my daughter has it on DVD
Thank u Sarah for doing this. Keep up the good work and I can't wait to see what is next for Down to Disness.
Legend has it that if you comment early, Sarah will respond!
oh hello!
beauty and the beast please!!!
Thank you.
my favorite 'weird Disney era' movie is The Black Cauldron, but this is a super close number two! took me ages to realize that the mother of the evil family who tries to abduct Pete is Shelley Winters, from Lolita and Night of the Hunter! :D she's a great actress.
I love Pete's Dragon the original movie - I just saw it the other day with a friend and we had a fun time rewaching the movie!
Then we watched Charlie Callas do comedy -comedian on the old TV talk shows like Johnny Carson show - he weird and very hilarious to watch!
Great review - thank you!
To be honest, the lighthouse in the movie is my dream home! I'd like to rebuild it someday, when I get the money. Love the movie and the remake, as well. It made my mom cry when we saw it a few weeks ago. As far I love Elliott in the 1977 film, I think the 2016 Elliott is amazing!
Pete's Dragon was one of my favorite movies growing up!! I'm not planning on seeing the new one... I know it sounds weird, but I'm mostly pup off by it taking place in modern day :P Thanks for this video by the way! I was not aware about a lot of the facts you mentioned.
I love the music like you do! the songs in this movie make me happy and I seriously love Candle on the Water!
Currently listening to the third harry potter book on tape/CD... again.. because...WHY NOT :) Yay!
I love the original Pete's dragon, we had the vast and my sister's and I probably watched it 100 times!
ATLANTIS NEXT PLEASE
I think I remember liking this movie as a child but I haven't seen it since.
I loved Pete's Dragon as a kid. You should do Mulan next.
Yay!!!!! I love Pete's Dragon and totally agree it's one of my favorites! I haven't seen the new one, and will only see it cause the new Eliot look great. And I'm using your video to convince my friends to watch it
Love Pete's Dragon!! the relationship between Pete and Elliott is so sweet! I made a pair of Mickey ears inspired by Elliott, such a lovable dragon! :) (and of course the float is my favorite...the reason i watch it when it was at WDW ;) ) ps..i'm afraid to go see the new one lol
~Jeanette
Watched this movie sooo many times as a kid! Definitely a favorite. Have you ever noticed the similarities between the tavern scene in with Lampie in Pete's Dragon versus Maurice in Beauty and the Beast? Just substitute "dragon" for "beast" :)
I'm with you. Not a huge fan of the remake, but there is something adorable about the original.
LIPSTICK ON POINT FAM
Bedknobs and Broomsticks! Always been one of my favs & no one I know has ever seen it or even knows it's a Disney film!
I also really love this movie also so thanks for making this video Sarah!🤗
I get excited about VHSs!
PLEASE DO MULAN
I've never seen this one! I'll have to check it out soon. Love your Down to Disness series :)
Its a brazzle dazzle movie (lol)
I love Elliot! :3
Hey Sarah! I know you’re working on the new episode in this series so I’m sending some 💕 your way! I realized I missed this one somehow. Pete’s Dragon is a little forgettable for me. But I like seeing Elliott in the parade! Maybe I’ll give it a rewatch.
I LOVE THIS MOVIE
I knew all the songs when I was a child
Loved this! So glad you are a fan! Elliott is also one of my favorite characters. I have loved this movie since I saw it in it's original theatrical release (I was 14)! It didn't seem weird in the day. Remember, I am the generation that grew up with The Love Bug and Escape from Witch Mountain! I know someday you'll do Beauty and the Beast. Before you do, please watch Ichabod Crane/Legend of Sleepy Hollow. You'll see why!!!
I love these. And I had no idea Don Bluth worked on this movie! I know him personally, he's a director at the theatre I work at! ☺️
I like all of the songs in Petes Dragoon.
Speaking of dragons, can you do "The Reluctant Dragon" for "Down to Disness"...? I know most people nowadays know it as a stand-alone "featurette", but it was originally "packaged" with several other shorts (including my favorite Goofy cartoon, "How to Ride a Horse"), and a live action portion where the comedian Robert Benchley is touring the Disney studio.
Please do "The Fox and the Hound"! It is my FAVORITE, FAVORITE!!!
I'd love to see an episode about Oliver and Company!
I absolutely LOVE Pete's Dragon! My favorite thing is all the songs. I mean I haven't seen it in forever, but I play the songs on CZcams a lot and sing along (mainly Every Little Piece and Passamaquoddy haha). Really the first thing that turned me off the remake was learning that it wasn't a musical...and then all the other changes I found out about after that. From what I've heard the only link is that there's a boy named Pete and a dragon named Elliot... Meh. I was really excited to trade for a "hidden Mickey" Elliot pin when I was at WDW last week though! I had been hoping the new movie would bring more merch but it all seems to be the redesign of him that looks like a fuzzy tiger. Oh well.
Pete's Dragon has always been my FAVORITE live/animation crossover Disney film. I am really scared to watch the new one, cuz I don't think I will like it anywhere close to the original. I think the new Elliiot looks like a skinny green version of the Bandersnatch from the live action Alice in Wonderland. He's just NOT *MY* Elliot. And that makes me sad. On the plus side I have it on VHS and Blu-Ray, so I can watch the original all I want with my kids and avoid their corruption of Elliot's magic.
My thoughts exactly
R u going to do one of the classical music video movies, one of Fantasia or its spin-off Fantasia 2000, soon? Love that Sravinsky piece, & the Respighi.
50K subbies is coming soon. Live show?
Would love to see you do The Great Mouse Detective!
I'd love it if you talked about Mulan or 101 Dalmatians next
I think the reason they made a remake is so they can justify still having that float when no one knows what it is.
Would you ever consider doing a down to Disness on Swiss Family Robinson? I know it's not animated, but it was always my favorite movie growing up. They still play the polka song from the movie in the Tarzan treehouse in Disneyland.
great movie! love this series so much!
Oh! And next month please do the Three Caballeros/Saludos Amigos :D
Do Mulan!
We have the VHS movie and a wanna be stuffed dragon 💗
this was such a fun down to disness!! also, what other two characters round out your top 3 disney characters?
I liked the remake....I also love the original Pete's Dragon. Totally different stories but both at the end, Pete gets a family. Please do Fox and the Hound.
