It makes me so unbelievably happy that Dodie Smith not only liked the movie but thought that it improved on her source material. Like Bill Pete did that - he impressed a writer enough to garner such high praise for himself and Disney and that's amazing! Also 101 Dalmatians is one of my favorite movies because, like you said, puppies.
Thanks for the review 101 Dalmatians is one of my favorite Disney movies. May I suggest Great Mouse Detective next. You do a great job with these reviews.
Wooow!! I can't believe they took animation that far in the 60's!! As always, loved the video, love your Disney love and love your desire to share with us your disney knowledge. What is thank you times a zillion??
This made me so happy, every time I was worried there would be bad news it ended happy! Like when you said: "his last animated project..." I was like: oh that's sad. "Before he moved on to imagineering" "OH THAT'S GREAT!" literally I'm almost crying with joy over how cheerful this video was I feel so silly
Did you know that in 101 Dalmatians that the tv show Jasper and Horace were watching called What's My Crime was based off a tv show called What's My Line. Which Walt Disney was on What's My Line in 1956.
I just spent the last 3 days binge watching all of these in my downtime at work and I absolutely love this series! I think an interesting (or maybe not so) one would be The Great Mouse Detective.
People ask me why this is my favourite film and that is because it's not based round love, it's not a fairy tale, it's puppies!!! This film made me want dalmatians for life!! Thank you Dodie Smith and Walt Disney!!! ♥️♥️♥️
These make me so happyyyyy. Every time I learn more about a Disney movie I feel overwhelmed with joy. Thank you, sarah for teaching me about these wonderful movies.
I didn't really know what the xerox method was but that's super cool and I really dig the scratchy line look in this movie so I think it payed off pretty well for them personally :)
Thank you so much! I love these down to disness videos, I knew nothing about Xerox in animation! In honor of St Patrick's Day, I would love to see a Down to Disness focused on Darby O'Gill and the Little People!
When I was a wee lil child 101 Dalmatians was my FAVORITE movie. My room was covered with 101 Dalmatians decals and wall paper and my bed had the 101 Dalmatians bed set. I was obsessed. My dad ended up getting me a Dalmatian and I called her lucky (I couldn't say Perdita) and later we got a boy Dalmatian and named him Pongo 😂. Good times....
So interesting! And so crazy how much technology has advanced since the 1960s! Would love to see an episode on Beauty and the Beast!!! Thanks for sharing!
I am loving this series your doing. I am actually beginning my own Disney movie video series next week where me and my sister watch Disney movies then discuss different aspects of it. I'm super excited and watching your videos just makes me more excited for the next venture on my own channel.
I'm actually very surprised that Sleeping Beauty was a flop when it came out! :-O Thanks for that! And I've watch "Waking Sleeping Beauty" recently, thanks to you, and loved it :) very interesting
that's super interesting about the xeroxing and the scratchy lines! I had no idea that's what it was from, but it makes sense Lol I always liked the look tbh
I personally would like for you to do a video on Atlantis: The Lost Empire, but I am also curious about what you'd have to say about Home on the Range.
How far in advance do you start doing research for these? I'm impressed that you got this together so quickly after the poll choosing which film to do!
How about a lesser known film--I just watched Bedknobs & Broomsticks... I'd love to hear any information you could share about this film. I know it's not a top ten worthy film but it's definitely worth a watch (plus bonus points for Angela Lansbury)
I read the book!!!! 101 Dalmatians by Dodie Smith. Was vintage. And paperback. Also they cut a lot of stuff. White cat, gender of Sergeant Tibbs and the station of Tibbs, changing Saul’s name to Jasper, the multiple trips Cruella made to get all the dogs adopted and legally handed over from everyone except Dearly’s, the loudest horn in England. The ink nib story where Cruella used to swallow ink,and the combination of Perdita and Missus. I am going to leave now...
Fantasia please. That mix of Bach, Beethoven, Stravinsky et al & pop culture. Wild.
I just watched it on Netflix this week. Still so creative and amazing!
Fantasia is the besst and is so overlook like why??? is soooo amazing
For not being a musical, 101 Dalmatians has one of the most iconic Disney songs, and I think, the best Disney song to come out of the 60's.
So so true!
"who doesn't love cute puppies?!" pasta is one of those that we love! ❤️
Oliver & Co would be great! The music is fantastic! And my hubby and I named our first cat Oliver after this movie. ❤
I second this! I'd love to see a Down to Disness about Oliver & Company.
Yesss please do Oliver & Company. It's one of my favourite Disney movies of all time and I feel it's kind of underrated.
Billy Joel
Sarah you should do Beauty and the Beast for March because the live action is coming out 🌹
Lauren Willson second this
Lauren Willson I third
Lauren Willson i told her that on twitter she said that she won't do 2 renaissance movies in a row
Lauren Willson Hey Sarah! What about "The Sword In The Stone"?

I love the sketchy look of 60's Disney, I had always thought it was a creative decision so it's super interesting to learn why it was actually done!
Wooow!! I can't believe they took animation that far in the 60's!! As always, loved the video, love your Disney love and love your desire to share with us your disney knowledge. What is thank you times a zillion??
EARLY DIS SQUAD WHERE YOU ATTT??????

Jungle Book! Some of the best music in a Disney movie and a great story.
This was my favorite movie as a kid, and it is still one of my favorites! I even had a 101 Dalmatians mural painted in my room. Haha.
I seriously now go watch the Down To Disness of every Disney movie I watch straight after, it makes the watching experience even more fun!
MY MOST FAVORITE DISNEY MOVIE IVE WAITED SO LONGGGG
I didn't really know what the xerox method was but that's super cool and I really dig the scratchy line look in this movie so I think it payed off pretty well for them personally :)

I just got back from Disney World. It is amazing how a 14 and 15 hour day does it wear you down.

I would like to see Oliver and Company - it seems like a neglected film, and I just love that Why Should I Worry song.
Sarah your videos are so informative and awesome. I love it! Disney is wonderful.
I remember you tweeted about how you expected 101 Dalmatians would be a simple episode but in reality Robin Hood would probably be a more simple one

Love you Sarah and your videos!
One other person who has reviewed this film notes that "Dalmatians" is frequently misspelled "Dalmations" by the general public.
How about a lesser known film--I just watched Bedknobs & Broomsticks... I'd love to hear any information you could share about this film. I know it's not a top ten worthy film but it's definitely worth a watch (plus bonus points for Angela Lansbury)
