Kendrick Perkins and Zach Randolph beefed so hard on the court they almost fought off it

- The role of an NBA enforcer can be a very slept-on job. The unsung hero prepared to do the dirty work, down for whatever it takes to protect their teammates. Throughout their careers, Kendrick Perkins and Zach Randolph have happily filled that role for their respective teams. But when competition turns to beef, then it might be time to throw hands.

You guys should do Robin Lopez vs. NBA Mascots for April Fools Day, but take it super serious.
That is quite possibly the best idea I have heard in a while. Kudos.
I also want to kno how that started
this comment should have more likes!
this is an inspired idea
Yeah we need to run these likes up. I wanna know what the mascots did to Robin cuz he always want smoke 😅

zbo is so underrated
Yep even in 2k I used to do dirty work with his diamond he played legit just like real life a lil jumper offensive boards tough ass fouls I loved it 🤣
Loved the grit and grind Griz.
@@David-iv6je That Z-Bo, Gasol and Conley trio created so much problem for teams. Was wrecking the ship of strong teams like OKC, Clippers and Spurs. Definitely not the team anyone wanted to face.
@@DS-rw5lv Amen. I remain a Conley admirer to this day. I kinda hope MIN can make a run this year. Not sure I believe it though.
Underrated just means something gen-z isn't hip to. He wasn't underrated when he was in the league.
Grizzlies fan here. Z-Bo isn't fake at all. He will hurt someone, and it's well known in Memphis that this man is a menace. Super nice and charitable dude, but you don't want to mess with him. If anything, he's underselling himself. He LOVED Marc and Conley, two players who historically do not talk much trash to opponents. Instead, they let Z-Bo take care of their opponents. A note Secret Base left out: the dude who got his eye shattered by Z-Bo was Ruben Patterson, an intimidating player who had assault cases/ a sexual assault case on record. Z-Bo put him in his place to defend another young player who was being harassed. His career only ended because of legal trouble when he was found with 2 pounds of marijuana. He had a solid 3-5 seasons left in him to play.
It's well known all around
Ruben Patterson was about to WHIP Z-Bo!! He picked him up and slammed him on his back!! After he got sucker punched, two or three guys couldn’t hold Ruben Patterson. Rasheed Wallace was there: czcams.com/video/qtzRv4z-S14/video.htmlsi=TPJ1BWB65ASSv3Ju
Getting called "too slow" by Zach Randolph is hilarious icl 1:12

Zach Randolph is an underrated NBA player
One of my all time favorite players. Memphis Grizzlies legend. A consistent 20 and 10 player in his prime. Loved his play style.
Without ZBo there is no Grit N Grind as he was the absolute heart and soul of that team
My brother moved to Memphis and next time I saw him he was a huge Grizz fan and was all about Z-Bo. We watched Memphis together until they were tanking, but they were the first NBA team I followed.
ZBo’s post up game was beautiful. It was like a rock n roll version of watching Hakeem.
Beautifully said
Could argue this was less beef and more two guys who took the game so seriously it almost brought them to blows, by the end when they said they wanted to be more physical in 2014 that was the ultimate sign of mutual respect between them.
ZBo, the only enforcer who was as an actual elite player and all star at the same time
Throw some love out to X-Man, as well. That dude had game, and would knock the crap out of you when needed.
Charles Barkley and Shaq could also be enforcers when needed, but not like Z-Bo and X-Man. However, I never considered Z-Bo and X-Man elite players. Just very good players, but not great.
@@QuestionEverything562 Didnt get to watch Xman much, but for a 5 year period Zach was the most consistent 20 and 10 and absolutely unstoppable. The guy singlehandedly messed up Tim Duncan. Z Bo was elite at what he did, just not great at anything else.
Oh how I loved Zach Randolph and the Grit'n'Grind Grizz.

Those playoff series's were so dope.
Intense games with huge swings and hot crowds.
Z-Bo has been very underrated for his entire career though some older folks might say he was overrated particularly during his Portland days because he does have the talent and skillset to succeed but he couldn't utilize it because of lack of motivation and his offcourt issues.
So what you said is pointless.
Underrated is the wrong word, but Z-Bo is the type of player that thrives in the right environment and you wonder what would have happened if he wasn't stuck on dysfunctional messes for the first 10 years of his career.
I saw Kendrick Perkins and beef and instantly clicked
Dude has mental problems
Z-bo is an old school draymond green but with actual skills
Keenan Thompson’s perk impersonation is incredible 🤣
ZBo was a beast before his knee injury.
Zach breaking Ruben Patteron's eyesocket was big news in Portland. Jason Quick had some incredible articles about it. Zach apologized and Ruben forgave him in the end.
Next one, you should do Tony Allen's beef with anyone on any other team attempting to play offense.
Used to love Big Perk man he was such a dawg. ESPN changed my man now he’s softer than a pillow.
Literally too 😂 forgot he was in great shape on the thunder. Very globular now
That's what ESPN does. Take good people and turn them into greedy, order following, agenda-pushing puppets. It's really sad. I don't watch the Devil Network anymore.

I like this commentator. This makes the whole beef series more exciting!
This is the BEST work by this narrator! Put some base in his tone, less pointless quips. Calm, fun insight. Nice!
No shot you called Perkins the "anchor of defense" in Boston like they don't have the DPOY in their squad. LMAO he was no anchor man
He was the primary rim protector and low post defender similar to brook lopez of Milwaukee while KG is the one disrupting everything on defense similar to giannis
You don't know ball perk with ray rondo pp and kg never lost a playoff series when healthy. Took Andrew bynum jumping on perk and breaking both his kneecaps to destroy the cells big 3 era.
I loved ZBo. You could learn a lot about skilful low post play just watching him operate, scoring regularly over much more athletic players and outrebounding them. One of my favourite players of the noughties and early 2010s.
Perkins was also there.
I love Zbo. He gave me $100 just because I recognized him at my job when no one else did. He was hyped too. Will forever love him

Perk getting a kind edit here - Perk was a guy on a team and Zebo was the guy. Their only similarity is their toughness.
Kinda a wholesome episode haha
Perkins wouldn't see the floor in today's game, ZBO would fit right in
love y’all
I did not remember them "beefing" per se, rather just Z-Bo being tough back at Perkins who wanted this persona.
On the other side, I vividly remember that discussion with the ref where both were pleading to let them go at each other and not call fouls! That was quite different from the changes that started at the time and a league becoming softer and softer.
Lunch time and i get a beef history💪🏾 never fails
Zbo suckered punched Ruben Patterson but Rasheed said Ruben would have beat zbo ass it took the whole team to stop Ruben from getting to zbo
Perkins is a $57M player, Randolph is a $200M player. They ain't the same.
New Beef History just in time for lunch 🥳

Been following for awhile, best video by this presenter yet. Awful with names but good vid.
ZBo was a problem 💪😂😂
Pleading with a ref to let you whoop each other's ass in the game is a new level of beef. I wish it happened more often.
"Yea and our starting center @KendrickPerkins averaged a whopping 2 and 3 during that series. U played hard tho champ lol"

“Perk never looked for the glory”- that’s a nice way to say
Zbo was a skilled goon while Perk is a big dude that took up space.
Sometimes beef brings you together.
Let’s be real Z-Bo could whoop Perk’s ass any day lol
He went from 'meet me at the bus' to the police having to remove Z-Bo from HIS locker room.
Beef History: Perk v Common Sense.
For real tho, a good one would be Perk v Steph. When Perk was an injured vet on the cavs during the mid 2010s, he and Steph had some spicy moments. Perk hasn’t been able to give Steph any props from his fancy chair at ESPN since. Even after the last Warriors championship, Perk still puts Steph down.
What a time to be alive
I swear i just watched the video of the two of them asking the referee to allow them to be physical and then you posted this video.
9:35 nah you guys did them dirty with that crop 😂
6:26 Marc Gasol to ZBo: "Get back to your spot"
My uncle grew up with Zach Randolph and played basketball and football with him. I get a “beef history” every time he comes up cuz Z-Bo was full of fire!
Them coming to ref to ask to let them play physical was dope
Z-BO PUT HANDS ON RUBEN PATTERSON BROKE HIS EYE SHOCKET NO CAPPING

Perkins “anchored the defense” during the Celtics championship run?!? I guess KG wasn’t there.
Devin Booker vs Toronto Mascot
Z Bo was such a menacing delight
Kendrick Perkins was an exorbitant practice cone
I wish all the NBA ones were narrated by Seth. Night and day quality.
Warrior fan my whole life and I can honestly say that the Grit & Grind Grizzlies with Randolph, Gasol, Conley Green & supporting class gave the young and up-and-coming Warriors fits with that style of play. If any team had the kryptonite for the young guns it was them. Before GSW won their first CHiP it was OKC, Blazers, & Memphis expected to reign free. That didn't happen and the Dubs rewrote history. 💯
Perkins is the kind of dummy that says 'opposing opponent'.
NC State's DJ Burns has entered the chat in terms of husky men
Zach Randolph was always one of my favorite players growing up. Dude was ballin when he played in New York but when he went to Memphis the city embraced him like he grew up in the city. Z-Bo could go anywhere in that city and nobody would give him problems. Memphis is a rough City that's gang related I'm not going to say who zebo is affiliated with but if you know you know he has zero problems in Memphis just based off of his affiliations the basketball fans adore him because he embodied the grit and grind attitude of the city
Love this series! Can we expand it tho? F1, hockey, baseball, football ⚽ 🏈, golf(!?)
Copious amounts of beef to be shared with the world. Just a thought 🤔
I was locked up with Zach Randolph little brother in the late 90’s…or maybe early 2000’s, I know Zach was playing at Michigan St at the time because we always watched his games. Roger Randolph was an absolute beast. He was tall, skin and reminded me of Kevin Garnett. He was like LeBron James to us at that time around the Pittsburgh area. Shout out to Zach tho 💯 RIP Roger 🙏🏾
Imagine how close these 2 would have been on the same team!
I would love to see that Grit & Grind Grizzlies team in todays game
Whoelse read perk quotes in perk voice 😂😂
yall just been throwing the word beef around
ZBO is too good to be labeled as an “enforcer” that man made the all star team at one point
ZBO's skill set was stellar
Now that Dame went to the Bucks, and Westbrook is a bench player, and the beef has fully cooked and been eaten, it feel's like a great time to make a "Beef" episode about Damian Lillard x Russel Westbrook up to the playoffs with the wave goodbye. Probably the greatest beef of the Blazers franchise history.
I loved those Grizzlies teams, I always knew they'd never win a chip but damn it would've been sick, modern Bad Boys
Those Zeebo grizzly teams were damn tough.
Perk came out straight from HS, def forgot about that
man that grizzlies team was so fun
So nice to see OKC slowly become part of professional sports history
This is the healthy kind of beef
ZBo was a handful down low, but his jumper was underrated, especially during that era when back-to-the-basket big men weren't expected to hit 17-20 foot jumpers with ease
It's not a big deal, but I thought I should mention that Kevin Mchale not really an enforcer of the Celtics. The only reason some people think so is because of the clotheline against Kurt Rambis that is shown in the intro. That happened because Celtics were down in the 1984 finals against the Lakers and Danny Ainge, the real enforcer of that team despite his size, openly complained to his teammates that he was the only one doing the hard fouls. And Mchale thought something should be done to turn the series around. Mchale was a physical player, and it being the 80s, did have some occational hard fous, and that foul on Rambis was undoutedly a dirty play. But he wasn't a guy who did that regularly like Ainge or Bill Laimbeer or Ric Mahorn. Both Ainge and Larry Bird were more of a hard fouler than Mchale, and Celtics on the whole were a very physical team. And it was the 80s. Cheap shots and hard fouls were much more tolerated than now. Mchale wasn't even ejected for that play. Again, it's not to say that wasn't a dirty play, it was actually the dirtiest play in the series. But it was more like "things got a little out of hand" than "how could he do that to a fellow player." 80s was a very different era from today. I mean Magic complained while commentating the 93 finals that the players are too friendly with each other, and we all know 90s was a lot tougher than it is today.
Is that Dr. DisRespect in the Lakers jersey in the beginning?? :D
