    Love the logic here.
“Would you rather be stuck in the woods with a man or a bear?”
    “Bear.”
“Okay, but what if the man was black?”
    “Still bear.”
    “You’re racist against white men!”

Its been scrambling my brain really. Because to me, what that would prove, if that race isnt a factor, that the answer isn't racially motivated. But somehow, the answer not changing proves... that white men are discriminated... because they are being put at the same level as black men? Is that conclusion not, in itself, racist? Is this not textbook "when you're privileged, equality feels like opression"?

There are no time limits on the internet. 1 channel posting about it for 1 week and forgetting about it doesnt mean every1 else forgot.
Also he is saying people (men) need to look inward cuz women are so scared they pick the bear. Looking inward when previously looking inward has been nonexistant is not a 1 week thing. If you want the man vs bear argument to do anything then it has to be talked about for more than a week or a month or a year (and it will be, because the internet doesnt forget just like that).

"Women might have become the most bigoted group in America" while any male-dominated field in the US still holds horrific numbers of harassment and s*xual assault that isn't met with any form of punishment towards the aggressor is delusional.

@@strawberryfox8819 the why is quite obvious. Because risk of SA ruining the life of women is worse than the risk of a bear mauling ending the life of women, to women. Its a statement. There are no reasons given to why that is stated. You are supposed to invent the angles they are trying to refer to with that statement that doesnt in and of itself point to any problem. Like calling some1 stupid. The person who got called stupid has no idea why they were called stupid but maybe they can guess by inventing new angles and perspective on how to look at the context. The statement is open ended. Its completely fair to look at different angles to process an open ended statement. Thats what you want anyways. You just want men to end the process in themselves at fault. When that doesnt happen, its on you because youre supporting and agreeing with an argument that is literally completely open ended and doesnt direct men into the right direction which would be inward. You have to give a direction, and you have to justify why its that direction, or you can have no expectation of people learning anything from your argument. And the reason is because its open ended. The same reason you cant expect any1 you calk stupid to learn from that. Because calling them stupid is way too open ended and youre not giving them any help. Would wonder if this problem is actually as big as many claim then you would help in the process of addressing who is at fault and why so that action can in agreement be taken.

And that's great. But it does seem to have the side effect of dehumanising men. The question is inherently bigoted. The video Speech Prof responds to is silly, the point that they failed to make though was that if you asked the question "Who would you rather meet in the woods, a black man or a white man", no amount of rationalising a fear of black people would be considered acceptable if someone were to answer that they would feel safer with a white man. No amount of crime statistics or explanations of the socio-economic factors that result in higher incarceration rates for black people would save you from being labeled a racist. Yet when we're comparing a man to a bear, all that stuff is being allowed in and we ignore the implication in the question that while a man might do bad things but a woman wouldn't.
Now I'm all for pointing out and explaining the fear that women have of men. But The response of this community by and large has not a calm, measured explanation of your point. It's insults aimed at anyone who shows even the slightest signs of disagreement. Which contributes to the side effect I pointed out.
Of course, the irony of this situation is that the entire issue could have been side-stepped had the question simply been the unbigoted "Would you rather meet a bear or a human"

Sorry, I have to speak in a way that will not offend anyone, because I am a woman. WTFudge, now I have to be sorry because the "bear question" is racist? Have I not apologised enough for being a woman?

If someone says they're afraid of me or upset in some way, my first reaction isn't, "Why are you trying to undermine my place in society?!" What I'm thinking is, "hmm, that doesn't sound like me..." and I say, "I'm sorry if I gave off that impression. I didn't mean to. Can you tell me more so we can clear the air?"
That usually lets the other person know that it's a misunderstanding, and I learn more about where they're coming from so I can be clearer next time. 😊

I’m still choosing the bear. Ethnicity of the man is irrelevant. That doesn’t mean I think straight men of European descent are “subhuman” - what a wild take. It just means that - in my experience growing up in a farming family in rural Australia - animals are easier to read and more predictable. 🤷🏻‍♀️

What if it’s a black bear or a black man, but the black man has his most recent demo tape and he really wants you to listen to it?
Note: the black bear also has a demo tape, but it’s a CD and so you aren’t sure if the black bear was totally clear on the instructions but that’s okay because the stereo has both a tape and a CD player.

*Stranger Danger.* Since at least the 1980s there was a huge omnipresent campaign to warn children about strangers. It was strangers, not strange men, but the icon was a masculine silhouette in a hat and trench coat. And part of it was usually that kids were advised if they were lost or in trouble to try to find a police officer, store clerk, a mom, or a woman to help, so the vibe was definitely that male strangers were the real threat. Strange men are hunting you, and actively want to catch you and hurt you in vague unspecified ways.
If you grew up or camped in bear country you may also have seen an educational program about avoiding the danger of bears and other animals when camping or in the woods. Things like be noisy so the bears hear you coming and avoid you. Never approach a bear, especially a cub. Safe storage of food and whatnot. The vibe here is that bears live in the woods, so be Bear Aware. But also that bears are working on the "don't start no trouble won't be no trouble" principle.
At some point the socialization of boys shifts and they are considered cowards if they are too cautious of strangers as adults. But the socialization of women never refutes the Stranger Danger we learned as kids. We are warned that strange men are dangerous. Stories of Ted Bundy faking an injury or disability to get women to let their guard down, warning us that even the most harmless seeming man could be a predator.
I bet if you give a LLM the Stranger Danger educational material and the Bear Aware educational material, and then ask it "is it safer to be in the woods with a bear or a strange man" even the computer would pick the man.

@@a_worldly_man Heck yeah. We had a wood heater, with a small stack of firewood right outside the front door for easy access. One night my mom opened the door to grab more wood . . . and there was a black bear sitting on the woodpile. Slammed the door. We're looking out through the big glass picture window and there are SIX black bears of various sizes in the yard. Must have been a family reunion or something. The only thing keeping them on the other side of the glass is that they are okay staying on their side. They are big, muscular and scary.
OTOH, if she'd opened the door and there had been a strange man sitting on the woodpile that would have been pretty scary too. And then if we'd looked out the window and there were six strangers just hanging out in our yard for no apparent reason? Nope. Though I guess we could have called the police then. Or not, because we'd probably be in a horror movie.

This risk distribution between men and bears is different. 100 percent of bears pose a certain danger, but if you know how, you can usually avoid them. 99 percent of men are harmless, but the dangerous 1 percent is significantly more dangerous than a bear, because you can't just scare them away with loud noises.

Someone or someTHING is making these videos visible and I don't think it's just an algorithm. I follow hundreds of art accounts that make engaging and fascinating content, lots of comedians with thousands of followers and NONE of them get the engagement or eyes on them that these accounts do. The idiots that make and follow this stuff are a loud, scary, and often violent chunk of men, but they aren't a majority, not by far, not even in conservative circles.
But if something doesn't change soon, they will look like the majority and everyone who is pushing back will be part of a group that is made to look like they're fighting against equality.
But I wonder if giving them screen time as a reaction is part of the plan?

That's exactly what happens, people who post outrageous and offensive things get a lot of engagement because people click on it and watch it and comment on it because they want to rebut it or say how stupid it is, but that just drives the algorithm to recommend it to more people. Better option is to engage here on SpeechProf's channel, and if you get recommended any of the originals, don't engage, and tell CZcams to stop recommending them.
