If Newcastle, Arsenal, Liverpool, or Manchester United were in Manchester City's current position, would this be a topic? And before anyone says heritage this and that elitist stuff, if the objective is to be fair to the teams with less money (or other leagues as KG said), then shouldn't the focus on FFP be instituting a salary cap or ensuring everyone spends the exact amount per season? But of course that won't happen. Once Abramovich did what he did in 2003, everyone should have seen this coming. Doesn't make it fair, but let's not act like money doesn't rule the world in every aspect. And event if they get rid of Manchester City, there will be another Manchester City. Chelsea spending 600 million in one window should be a bigger story, because that proves it is not just about spending money. If City have cooked the books, then let's also discuss the bigger issue, why the hell did the English FA allow that to happen for so long? That screams incompetence on the part of the English FA. Sticky sticky situation.

What consistently annoys with me this whole discussion is the lack of realization & acknowledgement that Pep fucking Guardiola is the difference not the money, this feeling of helplessness is because of the football they play on the pitch which cannot and has not been replicated by any other manager, nothing more nothing else. it disgust me to even hear Man Utd or Chelsea cannot compete, you CAN compete financially you just can't in the dugout that is the difference, this is the difference between having one of the best managers situated for 7+ years compared to switching one out every season, where is the sustainability? where is the joint thinking when you consistently swap out managers?A dynasty isn't built off the back of multiple managers it's built off one, when his barca side played this level of football you all said it was a 2 team league he couldn't do it in England, when he came to England you all doubled down even more and said he definitely couldn't do it, 7 years later now you're all crying? Imagine thinking he wouldn't have won Multiple League titles if he had spent the same amount of money & time Klopp has spent at Liverpool, what else do you want? he even went with a false 9 for 2 seasons, you idiots still couldn't catch up, he then reups this summer with Haaland and here come the water works again. It's utterly embarrassing. THE DIFFERENCE IS PEP. No other manager demands this level of excellence, he is a standard and ceiling raiser, did it Barca do you think Madrid went crying? No they fucking got 100 points. If you understood who Pep is and the impact of what Johan Cryuff did a Barca as a manager and how that impacted Pep you would understand what he has done for City and would draw parallels. This is not a debate give every single World Class manager in World Football a blank canvass and the same amount of money to build a First XI and Pep would have the best, put those teams in a League Pep's own would have the most points and most wins. HIS FOOTBALL IS THE DIFERENCE. That is what renders you hopeless on the pitch. CAPICHE?

So many on the table seem bitter. City have spent big as all teams wish they could however they spent well. Bought a lot of unknown players but Haaland and Grealish. It seems like they spend big on players that other big teams aren’t going for to ensure they get them. They turn those players into world class players.
Pep is the difference. Peps tachtical approach is unmatched. So many teams who spent big prove that.
A bunch of bitter dudes trying to justify their teams inability to compete with city.
“I do think Pep leaving will change things” is probably the most true thing said. That statement sums up the dominance City have. Man U spent A LOT and yet can’t get it together. PSG spend big in their league and still can’t get it together, Munich this season has and looks like they won’t win the league, Chelsea spent loads and loom at them. The money is a factor but still so much more to do to have this dominance.

Top 4 never mattered in the 90s in terms of CL places anyway. The first 5 years of the rebranded CL was still only for the champions. In 1997-98 multiple teams were allowed from select leagues but it didn't go straight to 4 teams either. 1999-2000 was when it was expanded to 72 clubs but England's coefficient was only high enough for 4 possible places from the 2002/03 season. So it makes all the posturing non-big sky 3 teams do about a couple of times they reached top 4 in 90s pretty irrelevant because the less important European cups didn't mean half as much or get half the attention.

No reason to compare net spend since 2008, the Abu Dhabi purchase, or since Guardiola took over. Man Utd or Chelsea didn't start spending in 2008. For the last 5 years, Man C net spend puts them 7th and has only one player in the top ten most expensive players in Europe. UEFA investigated Man C spending and their findings were overturned by a court of law. In fact, a UEFA agency oversaw Man C's sponsorship deals.

We can say that city have an unfair advantage financially but in reality it is difficult to perform even with loads of money, Man Utd have the money and have been spending equal if not more money and still coming up short, although city resources are questionable at best, you have to admit that they have a really good board with amazing staff and vision that made them quite efficient with their money, I believe Arsenal could have won the PL if any manager was in Guardiola's place same goes for Liverpool in the last 4-5 years which is why they want to keep him for as long as possible, I think ManC + Pep combination is what broke the PL not the club alone, a guardiola departure would bring competition back (even tho they would still be favourites), the real issue is how the PL is breaking European football where European giants can't compete financially with mid-table premiere league clubs.

Hit the nail on the head when he said some clubs are being run as an efficient business. They were never intended to be "efficient businesses", they were (mostly) formed to give working people something to break up the monotony of working. Something to look forward to at the weekend. The introduction of Sky broadcasting money in the 90's and the formation of the premier league broke football in this country, closely followed by the Bosman ruling that shattered all semblance of a wage structure. The game is now about how much money you have which then allows you to buy the players that are able to con the referees and VAR most efficiently. The game as it once was is long dead.
