My dad's mother used to kill/get rid of my pets with such regularity that I basically knew to brace myself for the loss after the sixth pet. my last dog she refused to give to me when my mom and grandpa got custody of us back, and later on she called me and told me my job "jumped out onto the highway and got hit by a car." I knew my Louis, he never EVER even stuck his head out the car window whenever we went on long drives, she fucking threw him.
It's been almost ten years, but its still fucked me up so bad mentally on top of the other stuff she did/let happen.

My mom killed my cat named precious when I was like 8 or 9. I was visiting my great grandparents and she made an excuse the cat ran away. From an apartment on the 4th floor. Then she said the cat was dead under my dresser and she had to get rid of it. I know she killed it though. She’s a nasty human being. No contact with her is one of the best things I’ve ever done.

Couple more updates from the first story: Op had to get the blood drawn again because the wrong tube was used, she said working in healthcare herself she knows this can happen. It’s just frustrating. She’s told the school and her lawyer and the school is going to keep an eye on them. Still no information on the girlfriend and the kids expressed a want to stay with her full time citing they aren’t happy at their dads. Then there was an edit to add that her son got sick with a temp of 103.
Update 6: she’s trying to find a therapist that will accept all three kids and they talk about their dog often while she knows she’s past the point of no answers she’s still upset about it. The kids however are recounting in vivid detail how they saw their dog with its mouth open when he passed and the kids get more and more upset. As for the tox screen no news and she’s hoping for a “no news is good news” situation

My mother had a biopsy because she might have cancer. A couple of days later she was sent a letter with an urgent appointment with no explanation whatsoever.. For two weeks later.
She freaked out (for obvious reasons) and went to a nearby private clinic run by an acquaintance (out of work hours because he was fully booked) for an urgent biopsy and test. A couple of days later he called to say it was benign and she didn't have to worry.
When she went to the "urgent" appointment, it was to get another appointment to get a new sample because the previous one was spoiled somehow and could not be used for the test.

Story 3: I'm surprised that no one is talking about it being a possible sexual assault. I read the rest of the story and it came out that the cheater girl was so high on acid that she though that he was HER boyfriend as well and SHE was the one that initiated. When she figured out it wasn't him when her actual boyfriend opened the tent, she ran off and called an uber/cab. But she was so high that she thought she was already at her house when the cabby was still driving that she jumped out of the moving vehicle and broke her arm and went to the hospital. She is now freaked out that she's a rapist and is saying she doesn't blame her friends if they press charges. OP and her Boyfriend are now in therapy.

As someone who for years worked in vet clinics, boarding kennels, and volunteered for rescues and shelters and have friends who still work/volunteer in all of those fields, trust me when I say there are people out there who 100% can go out and "feed" a dog every day (throw a scoop of food on the ground and call it a day) and the dog could drop dead one day for any reason, and they would go out the next time to "feed" them, see them dead, and legit just shrug and leave it, not give it another thought. So, while I 100% believe there was foul play AND negligence with story one in regards to the poor dog, there are people out there who could see their dog every day and if it passed away, would leave it where it was and not give it another thought. It's disgusting those people like that exist in this world.

The kids say that rat poison was sprayed on the yard. Not bringing the dog inside away from the poison means at best that they are so incompetent as should be barred from ever owning pets and have their custody reduced to observed visitation. At worst, they intentionally wanted the dog to die and didn’t care if the children were hurt. Plus, how do you not see your dog for so long that it starts rotting?

    • @EnlightenMothman
      @EnlightenMothman Před 9 měsíci +12

Also rat poison is an extremely awful way to die. The dog if it ingested rat poison basically died from bleeding out internally. As it depletes the bodies store of vitamin K which helps blood clot. Without vitamin K your blood can't clot. I've seen a cat sick from it because it ate a rat that had been poisoned. It's very sad.

    Acid OP posted an update:
FINAL (?) UPDATE: So much has happened in the past hour. Our friend was able to get in touch with the girl who was caught with my partner because he went to the girl's house and no one ended up being there. I'll try to break it down as best as I can, starting with my partner whom called off work to come to me so that we could sit down and talk about it once and for all (I asked him if he could possibly leave work early as I knew I wouldn't be able to sleep). Anyway, from his perspective, while being in the tent alone, he couldn't tell whether he was asleep or not. He thinks his eyes were open, but it wouldn't make a difference whether he blinked or stared into the abyss. He said he was really dizzy but really hyper, but then also really tired and that all these feelings made him nauseous but not to the point where he needed to throw up, just enough for him to feel the need to lie down and relax. He said he heard the tent open, but he didn't react because he naturally thought it was me. He said "You going to bed?" as the girl he thought was me just plummeted herself onto the sheet next to him. He couldn't recall whether he heard a response, but he said he felt a kiss on his arm. He went in to spoon her and say good night, until he felt a kiss on his lips. He kissed back, and it progressed from there. He said he consented with his body as he thought it was me, but not because he was hallucinating, but because he couldn't see anything. He had his eyes closed most of the time because he couldn't see anyways, apparently. Then they got naked, and she straddled him. They didn't have intercourse, but instead were dry humping naked. He said he couldn't even feel anything, as if no one was on top of him. Then the tents were ripped open and he thought it was just her closing it behind her, but it was us. Then, he saw us and got really confused. This was when he thought that maybe he was hallucinating, hence the no reaction. He thought that there was no way he could see me outside the tent when I was straddling him naked. Then the guy started yelling, the girl got off him, and he went out of the tent naked. He said he forgot he was naked and got so confused as to what was happening. Then he saw me vomit, and then pass out. The whole time our guy friend was yelling at him, he carried me back into the tent and stared at me for a good minute. He looked at our friend yelling and asked if this was real. Then, he realised it was. That's when he started getting agitated, stressed, and started crying because he realised he just cheated on me. Then the girl disappeared and they didn't notice until the guy stopped yelling to ask the girl what she was doing being on top of him. He told me that the girl never spoke, only moaned. He thought it was me as we had a similar hair length and was confusing her eyes for mine whenever he caught a glimpse of light on her. I gave him a hug when he finished explaining. We were both crying at this point. Still are. I asked him if he needs help reporting this girl to the police, and he said no. He said that he thinks she confused him for her partner too, and I said there's absolutely no way that happened when she could see her boyfriend across the shore walking with me. He said that he didn't feel assaulted because he was reacting to it with the same energy, but that it was definitely weird finding out it wasn't me in the end. Still, I urged him to think about it carefully but offered my support because I know how disgusting and weird it is to even think that we'd get raped by the same people we trusted, but that it needs to be addressed. He said he'll think about it. I said my side and how I saw it, then we sat in silence for awhile and ended up talking about the good moments that happened that night. We were both relieved that we talked about it, and it genuinely felt like he was telling the truth. I've known the man for five years, he physically cannot lie. He said he understands why I thought he cheated, because he also thinks he cheated. He brought up the proposal because he was terrified of losing me, but admitted to the bad timing of it. I shared my own guilt and apologised for leaving him in the hands of someone else, for allowing it to go that far, for everything. Now he's taking a shower and going back to work after and I'm shaking as I'm typing this.
As for the girl, buckle the fuck up. We finally heard from her from our guy friend and apparently she'd been MIA because she was in the fucking hospital. She got her phone taken away by her mum. Our friend went to the girl's house because he was sick of waiting for a response and no one ended up being home. He then got the mum's number from a neighbour they were close with and called her, and then was able to speak to the girl. Fucking weird if you ask me? Her own mum told our friend she was home safe, but she'd been in the hospital this whole time. She said she left because of how disgusted she felt when she realised what she'd done. She said she just wanted to lie down but confused our tent to be theirs (They were all the same colour). When she heard my partner say "You going to bed?" she said that she thought he said "No sex?" and immediately heard her boyfriend's voice instead of mine. As in, confused my bf's voice to be her bf's voice. So she initiated small kisses and when he reciprocated, she was reassured that it was, indeed, her boyfriend. Completely forgotten about the fact that he was twenty footsteps away from her. Completely forgotten that she was asked to watch my partner in case anything happens. And so, when she realised what she had done, she left without saying anything and took an Uber home. Then jumped out of the moving fucking car because she thought the car wasn't moving and that the car wasn't moving because she was home. Ended up fracturing her arm, staying longer in the hospital for suicidal ideation and getting infections and I think she's being fined for endangering herself and others for being high on acid. She did end up saying that she accepts whatever happens to her, whether we report what happened or beat her up etc. Our friend said she sounded very remorseful and worried for all of us, especially my partner and I. She said herself that she thinks she raped him because she was the one who had initiated it. We're waiting to hear more from him about her and he's now on his way to visit her. A lot about it is still very unclear to us and doesn't add up.
Needless to say, I am both relieved and horrified to have heard both parties' perspective. This has been such a big fucking day. It doesn't feel real. We will continue to work on this and may probably need therapy. The situation ended up being a lot bigger than me and I feel that the only ones to blame were ourselves. We allowed this situation to happen, and it didn't matter if it was intentional or not. We were irresponsible and really stupid. We thought the beach was an awesome idea for the solitude, silence, and the view, but we didn't factor in the darkness and the consequences of drinking and taking acid at the same time. Hell, one of us could've even drowned despite the ground rules we put out and despite it being a low tide that night. It was really, really dumb and set up to fail from the very beginning. As for our relationship, we're coming to an agreement to have some space between us physically as it felt like it would've been too soon to start sleeping on the same bed, and to get therapy together. We'll talk about it more after his shower. I'm going to continue to stay at my sister's, but I'll also be seeing him regularly to continue supporting each other. We're both still shaken up and quite traumatised from it all, but we're both willing work it out. We've heard one another and decided to trust each other, and obviously created very heavy boundaries regarding drugs and alcohol. I'm not the type to develop trust issues, so I'm hoping healing from this will be easier than how everyone makes it out to be. For the people that have commented and shared their own experiences, thank you. Especially to those who have challenged my perspective and called me out on my own shortcomings. Excluding the ones who were flat out insensitive assholes, y'all can choke. I thank those who had given me sound advice, those who educated me, and those who had given us well wishes. I really, really appreciate the time you've invested into this. I'll answer questions but I might delete this profile shortly after. Thanks everyone.

The tents were the same, if not, similar in color and style. First Story: People who needlessly mistreat animals and pets are trash in my eyes. What was the point of this scumbag taking the dog if he had no intentions of actually taking care of it. Why not just let OP take the dog? Instead, this prick decided to let his also garbage girlfriend kick it out, let it died, and (the worse of it all) let his 6 year old son find said dog and call OP to tell her about the dog
Update 1: Yeah this guy is definitely hiding something. If what he said was the truth, why was he being vague and defensive?
Update 2: Oh no, get these kids away from these two asap. They sprayed rat poison in the grass of the backyard (obviously to kill the dog) and still let the kids go back there? These two are a danger to these kids and all living things
Update 3: He really thought he didn’t need to tell the mother of his kids that they were throwing up something red?! I hope OP gets full custody of these kids and her ex and his girlfriend rot in a cell
Update 4: Wow I feel so sorry for OP. Everything and everyone has failed OP in this situation; here is hoping that OP can get that police report filed
Second Story: That is a red flag. Most of the time people try to cover their intentions by claiming it was a joke. This guy dared this friend to make out with him and immediately said it was a joke after she said no. I also found it weird that he wanted to keep the game between them
Third Story: Wow this is a very...interesting situation. Obviously this guy full blown cheated and I honestly don’t believe his excuse (I honestly wouldn’t know because I don’t do drugs and I don’t know the effects of acid) but OP and the other guy wasn’t gone for so long and OP's boyfriend didn’t go on the walk with them because he said he didn’t feel well but if he didn’t feel well, how was he well enough to have sex? Him telling OP his planned proposal was a typical tactic into emotional manipulation imo
Comment: Oh ok, so this person IS an expert on this and it can possibly happen. With this insight, I don’t know now.
Fourth Story: This is a lawsuit waiting to happen. Falsely accusing someone of something so serious is not a good thing to do. I think OP should tell the friend and confront the mother because this is a life changing accusation

The first story gives me traumatic memories from my own dad as a child. He killed THREE of my pets. Yes they were all accidents but it was just because of his own stupidity, and he is fairly experienced with animals so none of it should have happened. The first one was my dog when I was 8 years old. We lived in a small town covered in forrest and our house was right beside a highway. I was having a halloween party and my dad didn't close the backdoor, my dog then saw a deer on the other side of the road, and since his fur was black and it was night a driver on the road didn't see him and ran him over. The second animal was a budgie. My dad has owned parrots before, and yet thought it was a good idea to leave the window behind the cage open all day. My bird got sick from the draft and passed away. The third animal was a rabbit. When I was 9 I had 2 rabbits that my dad built a big outside cage for. It was great, except he didn't think it was necessary to build a floor. So one of my rabbits dug a hole out of the cage and got eaten by a fox. Because he is a narcissist he wasn't a good dad to begin with, but I think him killing so many of my childhood pets is what I find the hardest to forgive him for. I am now a pet mom of a bird, lizard, dog and hamster, and I spoil them as much as I can. Since I am an adult living in a different country than my father thankfully I don't have to worry about him harming them as well.

I'm almost sure I figured out that last story. I assume the mother is the tipe of Autism Mom that thinks that just because her kid has some learning disability, she is immature and helpless and can be taken advantage of. I bet she thinks she protects her kid when in reality she infantilizes her and strips her of agency. Because in her mind any neurodivergent person is just a kid inside, she assumes literally anybody enjoying their company is a groomer. She needs some sensitivity training or a restraining order, because if she can't change, she will eff up some lives, including that of her daughter and OP.

  • @primrosevale1995

Last Story: The Mom of OP's friend is ableist, as evidenced by her constant grooming accusations. It's pretty obvious that she believes that old discriminatory lie that those with adults that have IDD, mental disorders, or are neurodivergent are children mentally, which is not true. Almost all of those are perfectly fine in terms of mental function, but often get pushed aside because they need support in communication or other areas of life.
The mother is definitely trying to use this lie to suggest she should have absolute control over her daughter's life, since she believes she's 'not capable' of doing so herself (which as the daughter's responses to OP shows is not true). She is definitely trying to gaslight both her daughter and anyone she doesn't want close to her, which is currently happening with OP.
Is this a sign of abuse? Maybe but we don't have enough information. I don't think OP should ghost her friend since the friend seems perfectly capable of dealing with the situation. I say just let her friend know and support her in whatever decision her friend makes.

About the acid story: an accident is defined as something that can't be prevented, so, in reality, the history is more like consequences from doing something dumb.
Also, OP should be grateful that the only thing that happened was cheating. Acid is a drug that makes anyone unpredictable. People had killed, rape, and committed suicide when under the effects of acid.
I had a friend who drowned himself on a beach, while on acid, because a monster was chasing him.
So OP and all the people involved should take responsibility for their actions, be grateful that nothing fatal happen, and move on with their lives.

She really needs to rethink that if she thought she could imagine the whole thing, maybe he could hallucinate his GF climbing on top of him and not realize it's a different girl. Plus the girl was ALSO on Acid and Alcohol, which is NOT a good mix from what I've heard.
Basically, I doubt that aware the level they would trip, nor able consent to sex. And while I usually follow the rule of "You took the drug, so what you did while under it is on you." this is one of the rare exceptions.

The gal whose group of friends took acid, I agree that it is most likely an accident. In my wild and reckless youth, I experimented with drugs, and quickly learned I hated the affects and never did them again. When I took acid at a nightclub, I had a black out. I woke up almost two days later, over 300 miles away in bed with a 55 year old woman, I was 21. Thankfully, she was a wonderful lady who had realized I wasn't in great shape after the acid, and not wanting to leave me alone at the club, took me to her house. I lost contact with her after I turned 40, but she turned out to be a good friend. Acid can not only give someone hallucinations, it can cause blackouts for up to 48 hours. So, while it did happen, I don't think OP should dump him for it just yet. She should talk to the other girl, because her side could bring a lot of clarity.

The first story reminds me of something my own dad did when I was a kid (warning for child/animal abuse) ...
He intentionally killed our birds by opening our bedroom windows during a terrible storm in the middle of winter. We know this was meant to kill our birds because their cage was situated right in front of the windows and our bedroom windows were the only ones in the house that he opened. It ended up getting my sister and I extremely sick as well. One of the birds froze to death the next day, while the other survived, but suffered complications and died shortly afterwards. I was absolutely devastated.
I'm pretty sure he killed them because he thought they were "annoying" since they whistled a lot. I also remember that every time my sister and I would close our bedroom windows, he'd come back in throughout the night to open them again as wide as he could, and if we protested, he could get violent with us as well to the point where I got too scared to even leave my bed.
My dad died a couple years ago during the pandemic. I don't miss him.
That said, I'm pretty sure the father in the Reddit story absolutely killed that dog on purpose and out of spite, and did not care that he ended up hurting his own kids in the process - the same as my dad did with our birds.

While Hanlon's Razor does say "don't attribute to malice what can be explained by incompetence" but the corollary is “any sufficiently advanced incompetence is indistinguishable from malice.” As someone who ran a shelter overflow from his home in highschool, what the people in story one did is, in fact, malice.

No shit dropping acid alone in the woods without a trip sitter was a bad idea.
Doing drugs safety is better than unsafly, and people will always do drugs so let them be informed and prepared.
Always have an experienced person with you who is sober, dont do drugs with anyone you dont trust.

I will never forgive my mom's ex for this: Years ago we had a dog, and I'm pretty sure similar to a lot of other things that he did that he intentionally let her loose while we were gone over 'it being an accident". HE KNEW THE FUCKING DOG WOULD RUN IF YOU LEFT THE DOOR OPEN AND HE DID JUST THAT WITHOUT PUTTING HER UP BEFORE LEAVING THE DOOR OPEN. So she of course ran, and he "tried" to catch her, again I think he's full of shit given where she was found was in a nearby place which isn't too far fetched, yet given how dogs behave that would have been too far for her. She was found by my aunt and uncle on the mountain they live on, she came to them and I 100% still think the truth is he drove her there and abandoned her, never will know the truth though. In which things were fine for two weeks, until she randomly died without warning, the current theory is that she ingested something while she was on the mountain, I doubt he did anything to her given we were gone for the week. In which she was placed in a trash bag, and afterschool I had no idea that she was dead until the fucking asshole drove me to my aunt and uncles house to bury her. I was given a shovel and told to start digging, he didn't even tell me initially why or what was in the bag until I asked, in which I never got to say goodbye, and he didn't help at all either and forced me to do all the work because "it's not my dog". The even worse part after was I couldn't even grieve, I wasn't shown any sort of sympathy or compassion for what had just happened from my mother, I was told to "get over it, it's just a dog", this was when he had is claws deep into her, she's a lot better now. I also still remember when he "accidentally" let our terminally ill cat out because "he forgot that she isn't allowed to go out anymore", he didn't try to search for her either or bring her back when he let her out, she was deaf, blind and had a severe thyroid issue. We never found her, I hope she passed peacefully, but I know what he did was intentional given its far too convent that he did this to two pets that he had no investment in. We currently have a dog that he and my mom got when they were together that he takes care of from time to time.
Do not let love blind you, I dealt with this monster for years, and I still am given I'm a "failure" in his eyes, along with he wanted me gone from the day he even started seeing my mom so all her attention would be on him. He bullied me, harassed me, and at times induced panic attacks due to how he acted towards and treated me. Along with listen to your child, along with boys and men, I'm a man, given we aren't made of an inflexible material like a lot assume we are, and we go through the SAME damage as everyone else does physically and mentally speaking. Given if your kid is saying that this person is doing something that's upsetting them or hurting them, they mean it, and you need to take it seriously and due your own investigation into what's going on and resolve it. Over letting the abuse continue, and forcing them to suffer without any way out, other than suicide or lashing out in a very severe fashion against other people.

My ex never spent his own money on gifts for our kids. After we split, he would ask his parents for money for the kids birthdays & Christmases, then pass the gifts off as being from him. Sometimes he would keep all the money & tell the kids that he was too poor to buy them anything because of how much child support he had to pay me (a whopping $300 a month). His parents told him that the gifts needed to stay with the kids, but he refused. One year the kids grandpa bought them a $700 children's car. Not only did he keep it at his apartment, he only let them ride it 3 times in 2 years. Then he became homeless & "put it in storage" (asking a friend to store it) instead of giving it to me for the kids to use, even though I had stable housing. He then started crashing at that friend's house, and kept bribing the kids with "if you come visit me, you can drive the car" but never once let them. He is sadistic & enjoys hurting others, even his own kids, but especially me (how dare I leave after he threatened to un-alive me multiple times). Seeing the hurt on their faces literally made him giddy. The dad in the first story sounds like he's one of those.

Dog mystery: sometimes in these stories I’m really shocked and concerned that the OPs haven’t called the police yet. The dogs death was already suspicious even before the kids got unwell and even going by the neglect that’s animal abuse and they still killed the dog!
