Yes it is fast enough. It's not only the fastest FWD on Nurburgring - it is the fastest hot hatch on N-Ring! 67th time - faster than Audi R8 V10 !
GT2 RS comes out with obnoxious wing, bodykit and stripes on it. Everyone praises it. Honda does the same with the new Type R, and it becomes the internets favorite punching bag... I'm not the biggest Honda fan, but the only reason I feel so many people are giving the FK8 such a hard time is because hating on fwd Hondas is the cool thing to do. The new civic has never been all that attractive. But hey. I find the FK8 intriguing because it reminds me of a modern interpretation of a group B rally car. And it's got the performance to back it up. But I guess I'm just another "triggered Honda fanboy", because I'm actually defending this car... But here's food for thought... You can argue with opinions. But you can't argue with the facts. And the facts are, the new FK8 type R is a performance pint sized demon taking out huge juggernauts.
Try to see DeMuro video which apparently designed for click bait where he bashed all the thing in CTR that he would praise in other car brand.
Pretty much exactly what's going on people love jumping on the bandwagon, Golf GTI Clubsport S is FWD yet i can't recall any "fwd piece of shit" comments.

Again, excellent review. This car is already a legend, and it is a future classic for sure. Honda might have peaked with this one. I hope nor, but this is a really, really good car, one that will be only more sought after as time goes on. BTW it looks amazing in this blue and has to be seen in person to really be appreciated.

my old crx weighed almost half , 850kg , had 160bhp , wonder how it would stack up?
Sitting next to the FK8, the FK2 looks cute to me.. all chubby and round. Very odd thing to say, but somehow it just came to my head.

3:08 the honda's front fender looks like its straight off the GR/GV WRX STI. That isn't a bad thing
these are great for the price but in US many dealers are marking up to 42k and in some cases I've seen them saying 60k for one of these. any mark up and it's better to go with Subaru Sti or golf R

If i lived in the US, for 60k, I'd be looking at Mustang GT350. Unfortunately, it costs over twice as much to get it in the EU. So, we're stuck withe these Hondas :(
Wait for few weeks and the price will subside.
Those prices are for people who want Civic as soon as possible despite of price.
Later, the Dealer will price it more rationally for normal people who cross shop with other dealers or cars.
Not to mention Honda release the news that while this is limited production, they will release variant of Type-R which will again drive the crazy ass price due to "limited" down.
James Fonda 60k was for charity only. most cars are selling for 34k. don't know what you're talking about. also the civic is faster than any sti, rs, and r on the track. if u want straight line performances, might as well get a Mustang.
AlienNinjaPuppy check Matt Farrah Twitter (thesmokingtire) he's mentioned a few prices that have been brought to his attention, and I don't know for sure about the track times because they don't matter a damn bit to me. but the track records the type R has mentioned are for Fwd cars while the ones I'm mentioned are awd. you get more driven wheels for only a little more money. mustang isn't even in the same segment as these. hot hatch and muscle are totally different cultures
No, the charity car sold for $200K USD. Now that they are being delivered to U.S. dealers, they're being marked up 10-25K over MSRP. Many dealers are asking $60K and some have already sold at $50K
One of the first modern cars I think needs a sports exhausts.. Otherwise it's the new benchmark in fwd. I like it a lot.

Um no, I owned one and with a proper launch 6.1 is easy to do , I would beat Rx8's with no problems and that is 6.3 to 60mph... Type r is a 6 speed and has less torque ...

Such hate from people (who think their car is faster bcoz theirs is more expensive) who was beaten by a Honda and can't accept the fact that Honda (even though cheaper) is the better company.

The only thing I wish Honda would have did was let this been the Civic SI but the Type-R should have been an AWD with 400-430 hp! But either way I take the civic as is.

MrAmazingasian16 Don't think they're fake though? The ones behind the wheels and on the bumper are for aerodynamic purposes and help the downforce and brake cooling. The one on the hood is for the turbo. It's a quirky looking car, but as all new designs, it takes time to like them.
Henry Liao The ones in the rear bumper aren't actually vents, they are just pieces of solid plastic, no holes, as are most of the surface area of the front bumper side 'vents'.
Henry Liao also the "vents" behind the front wheels seem to be fake. They also were fake in the fk2 model.
there is no fake vents... if u mean by fake vents as in the things on the front and rear bumper then most cars has it. even my audi has it

It's a FWD because Honda knew it would get dominated in the AWD segment. Sure it's a fast car...but for that price tag I think I would much rather be driving a Golf R or a Focus RS
