"System stability" is their way of saying it's meant to fight against hacks and piracy.
If Nintendo wanted to add themes, they would've done it years ago.
Maybe they wanna leave it for the new system as another feature to separate the 2 systems lol. Easy way to further differentiate the home screens

At this point it will never happen unless they some how do it with the Switch 2 but that will probably be years and years from now on
it wouldn't be that hard to just slap some navy blue theme on tho
i feel like every stability update is nintendo just clearing the system's cache or something cuz its not able to do it itself 😂so they just came up with the idea of "Stability Updates" to disguise it

My modded switch only shows 18.0.0 shoot and my system running 17.0.0
I was in smash bros ultimate in a match after thr update, but I got disconnected from two matches (despite being near my internet with no issues).
Lol, this sums up every update since the system was released 7 years ago...idk how it isn't stable by now.
People make one little complaint that is probably only due to crappy internet, and then Nintendo feels they need to update to possibly fix this "issue."

I'm a biggest fan of Browser and features on consoles but how many times Nintendo don't getting Web Browser, Themes, eShop Music on Switch after so many years. I mean, sheesh! Another lame update! This one is so lame than Warner Bros Seven Arts Cartoons.🙄

here's and update for you FIX YOUR FRIKKING ESHOP NINTENDO IT'S BEEN 7 YEARS AND IT STILL LAGS!. The Wii U was much better. We want the relaxing music back, even today Wii (u) music is heavily used in internet culture because it's so iconic. No themes, no folders, no music, let my Mii have more visibility. Give us a chat app like on the wii u and 3DS bring back Miiverse 😢 all these things went away because PlayStation and Xbox users blamed Nintendo for it making them to "kid like" but in hindsight these things made the Wii U one of the most fun consoles for communies. Something the PS5 and Xbox stil can't do as good as the Wii U did. I hope they bring these features back in the Switch 2 at least

No update on the system can fix an internet connection when there's an internet issue it's only to be fixed by your internet provider an update on a console will not fix your Internet connection the only thing that can fix your internet connection is the people that provide you with the internet in the first place like Xfinity T-Mobile or Verizon only them making adjustments to their internet connection can fix your video game consoles problem not some system update only the update that your internet provider gets can only fix your Internet connection because even my Xbox series X can't get an update to fix its internet connection does Phil of Microsoft know that the only way to fix your Internet connection on your Xbox is to call your internet provider to fix it because Phil of Microsoft nose a patch update will not fix the internet connection the only way to fix your Internet connection with your games going online and stuff can only be fixed by the person that provides and going into the lobby or going into a battle on Dragon Ball fighter Z takes too long of a load screen in even after grinding for levels in Tales of Symphonia it takes too long to return to the world after grinding for levels or after leaving a town or a dungeon it takes too long to return to the world on the Nintendo switch cuz I know the switch is loading problem is at fault having lousy loading time I know this because I have the same games on my Xbox and yet those same parts of the game load a hell of a lot faster than the switch does it proving the switch has a lousy loading processor when you consider you have the same game on a different console and those same load screens load a hell of a lot faster proving owning some games on the switch aren't worth it you might as well own them on Steam or Xbox or Playstation weather loading screens and the illumination of brightness of the games are a hell of a lot better on Xbox and PlayStation and steam load screens and Illumination in the games are much better and also transparency is more respected on other devices Nintendo switch load screens and illumination is too slow and too dark transparency on the Nintendo switch is too dark if you go into the customization option on the title screen of Tales of Symphonia on the switch it looks like a black void can you know there's a background there because the transparency on Symphonia is not being very well respected on the switch it's too dark but if you look at the transparency on Symphonia on Xbox and PlayStation and steam you'll notice symphonious transparency is being respected and on Nintendo switch the transparency is being disrespected even returning to the world after grinding for levels or leaving dungeons or towns in Symphonia load screens are a whole lot faster on other devices and on the Nintendo switch returning to the world takes too long of a load screen on the switch with Symphonia in a lot of ways Symphonia Illuminating the game and transparency and load screens are better on every system except Nintendo switch where the Nintendo switch makes the game look too dark transparency is too dark load screens take too long on the switch so do not play Tales of Symphonia on the Nintendo switch there are too many drawbacks with transparency illumination and load screens Symphonia runs better on Xbox and PlayStation and steam better loading times better transparency support in better transition when you go into battle with the stained glass shatter affect where on other systems it's more colorful and on the Nintendo switch the transparency to going into battle looks so faded and dated like a car that's been sitting out in your yard for 20 years where is the transparency on any other system other than the switch the transparency and other systems when entering a battle looks like it has a fresh paint job and the loading screens are shorter another systems that are not the switch when you look at the Nintendo switch version of Symphonia and then look at Tales of Symphonia and every other device you notice Tales of Symphonia looks and plays nicer on other systems loading time faster transparency respected better brighter and more vibrant colors transition into battles looks like it has a nice fresh coat of paint because it's so vibrant and colorful the transition stained glass shatter effect is more colorful on every system except for the switch what's the switch makes a transparency look like a car that's been sitting out in your yard for 20 years because of transition for going into battle stained glass effect shattering when entering battle on the Nintendo switch looks faded and dated on every other system the transparency stained glass effect that shatters when you enter a battle Fresh coat of paint in another systems it also loads faster there's a lot of things about Symphonia plays and looks better in a more better enjoyable experience when you play Symphonia on every system except for the switch switch which runs Symphonia terribly even with all the patches it still sucks as an experience because I have Symphonia on my switch it's too dark and load screens take too long to load returning to the world in a lot of ways Symphonia runs better on every device except for the switch even with the patch updates switch version still sucks the game plays in looks better on my Xbox series X Symphonia runs better on my Xbox compared to the switch

Well, at least it’s a bit more than just the usual system stability updates, this is a step in the right direction since Nintendo’s online infrastructure still needs some work.

Honestly, I doubt Nintendo will release any major updates that have actually interesting additions like Themes, Menu Music, or anything other that standard stability updates at this point in the Switch Lifecycle.

There's already games that run on that FPS, like Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair, Super Mario Bros. Wonder, Super Mario Odyssey, Metroid Dread, and Splatoon 2 & 3.
@X2011racer You have to put an asterisk on Splatoon 3. The game runs at 60 for battles, but in the hub world, it's 30.

Almost all of the recent updates being security updates does confirm to me that they're working on their next system and would probably push a huge software update with it. Still, thanks for the announcement!
My Switch OLED had issues connecting to 5 GHz Wi-Fi networks, but I believe that was fixed with this or a previous software update.
At this point, if Nintendo is gonna do anything substantial with these updates, you know it’s gonna be after the next console launches, when it’s too late for us to care. Cause Nintendo.
