As one of the game devs you mentioned in #7 I would like to state that piracy is good and rad actually. Do writers hate libraries for allowing people to read books for free? Don't ever feel guilty for wanting to share the art you love with others 💖
This video talks specifically about how piracy is bad for Nintendo switch if you attempt to go online as it will result in a ban if not used correctly with an Emmummc.
Regarding piracy itself I personally don't have a comment 😊
I do see both sides of the coin here but I also know some game devs that work hard on a title and then not get compensated for their work as opposed to a smaller game dev who might for instance like piracy since it will get their name out there to the public and game title.
Personally it doesn't affect me but I understand where people come from.
Bro what in what way is piracy “good” obviously modding the switch isn’t illegal, but piracy by any means is illegal. You’re basically getting a game that you don’t own or even pay for, for free. It’s illegal and if you get caught then there’s your answer. Also libraries are a borrowing system it’s not a “buying” system where if you borrow it you own the book. If you buy the book sure it’s yours, but if you steal it’s the same thing as piracy in terms of gaming, so don’t pirate games, or you’ll get BANNED END OF STORY
@@fired3471 I shouldn't have to explain to you the moral difference between stealing something and making a copy of it. So I won't. Pay for things all you want, I'm just giving my perspective as an artist. And that perspective is that sharing is good, actually.

Piracy is the only ethical way to play Nintendo games
im still a bit too cautious to mod my switch. when i play switch games though i try to buy them off second hand markets and resell them, because they usually hold their value. i bought my switch off ebay as well. i agree though, horrible company. i defended piracy on some other comment section and someone sent me over 10 paragraphs about why nintendo needs the money and that im selfish for not supporting them. insane.

Id like to elaborate on your point at 7:35. There are certain mods that are not online safe that you might only want to use on emummc. Since mods between emummc and syscfw are shared, that could be a reason not to be on syscfw 100% of the time if you want to play a game unmodded
How do you know what mods aren’t safe? I would only mod switch to mod Pokémon not for online competitive but for maybe trading and community stuff. Also maybe extra items in ToTk and stuff like that. Emulation as well. Will all that get me banned going online?

Hello sir, I just modchipped my own Switch Lite and I can't wait to play around with it. One question though: if you're on OFW but put "backups" or forwarders on the SD card's user partition (not the emuMMC, the partition shared by both) is that still a ban risk? What happens if you try to launch them?
Should I backup my NAND or pay for Nintendo Switch online to backup my data before sending my Switch for repair? I only want to mod my switch to backup all my data (users, screenshots and videos) without having CFW on my NAND so is it easy uninstall emuMMC before sending my switch for repair in case something goes wrong?
Great, I thought you can’t even enter the EShop with a modded switch. But if that only means I shouldn’t play online with other players, but still am able to buy games using the eshop it’s all good.
Had the fear of simply connecting with the internet could make a modded switch useless 😅

hi!! i was wanting to mod my switch for Skyrim mods and i noticed a lot of tutorials mentioning something about layeredfs but i can't find anything on how to install it, also should i get a second switch before modding my first one?
question would my switch oled be banned if i were to apply a costume change in totk. i was going to change the ancient heros aspect and apply a custom variant of the armor in totk but i am not positively sure if it is safe even if it is something as harmless as a skin change.

Hi all, i’d greatly appreciate any help with an issue i’m having and can’t seem to find the answer for. So my switch is now hacked and I want to play TOTK and use my saves from before it was hacked but when i put the game cartridge in it has the little cloud icon above it. I assume this means download the data from my Nintendo account which i obviously can’t do so how do i work around this? Do i transfer it from my original sd card or something? Any help is really appreciated

So a little background first, I'm quite tech savvy and work most things out and if i cant i'll use YT and work it out but there are a few questions i have to get a little more understanding on a HB switch.
First, my switch was bought modded, its a HK version and ive checked the website to see if its patched or not and my serial number isn't on there, so it's safe to say i have a newer one. The guy i got it from installed atmosphere on there and tinfoil and a few others, DIB, goldleaf, checkpoint and aiwoo (I think thats how its spelled).
So, he told me not to go online as its risky to get banned so i haven't. He showed me the way of uploading games to the switch, which was basically downloading the files from a sharing site and then connecting the usb and running DIB and so on.
My first question is i've seen some videos of going online via changing DS settings, is it possible to go online?
My second question is I've tried getting a HB shop from tinfoil but cant seem to get one, I typed the directory librashop .... but it didnt do anything. Does it need to be connected to the net to access it?
So in a nutshell, Im just trying to find a way to work tinfoil shops so i can install games directly without the usb but can't seem to. I've opened it but cant seem to get anything working.

Yah so this is a newer modchip installed switch by the sound of it, and no you can't change any DNS settings on your switch to go online because more than likely you are on EMUNAND. For starters, having tinfoil on your system and not particularly knowing where your guy installed it on (whether it be the SysNAND or Emu strictly makes it really risky for you to even attempt going online.) But then again at the end of the day it also technically doesn't matter since you're never gonna use that switch online for all intents or purposes. So you could technically get banned and nothing will change. Regarding piracy shops, I haven't been keeping up with them personally but I did hear a while back most of the shops had shut down but you should still be able to find copies of games online if you google hard enough. Hope this helps friend.

If you do emulation do it on your emunand and keep it offline. Noone including Nintendo will know if you do it that way

I don’t recommend v1 I say go v2 with the mod chip for better battery life and with the v1 mod you can’t let your switch die unless you have to mod it again but the mod chip v2 you let it die and your good

You can enable autoRCM which has pros and cons:
PRO: You no longer need the jig to enter RCM. Just powering up the Switch will enter RCM.
CON: You can no longer boot up the switch normally. (As far as I know, at least - if someone can confirm or deny this I'd appreciate it)
What this means is you'd need the payload to enter Hekate every time you powered up your switch (meaning you'd need an Auto Payloader or be near your PC with the payload + cable, or else you'd just have a black screen when you boot up your switch.
@@JakeIGuess There's also an android app in which you can push the payload, just requires OTG cable.
Answered all my questions. However, I just have one more. Can I use a usb c to sd card reader with usb 3.0 thunderbolt to micro sd adapter? It’s for my MacBook since I need a different one than a regular one for a pc
I'm not sure what's compatible with Mac but I don't see why that would be an issue either way

For now I want a nintindo switch for Just Dance and primarly Just Dance Unlimted. I have being using Yuzu in the meantime but it does not allow you to use Just Dance Unlimited. Yes. You are also able to dump the games so you don't need to insert the cartridges to change games.
When you say going online will get you banned, does that mean something even as small as being connected to the wifi?
No, being connected to the wifi doesn't get you banned. What does get you banned is connecting online for any game you've modded or added that you're not originally supposed to have. Also, you can block off connection to Nintendo's servers on the emuMMC and be completely safe to connect to the internet. Just need to have 90DNS tester on your homebrew to verify it.

You will get banned the second you hit nintendo servers due to the telemetry that games including pirated games send over to nintendo. So the risk is you will always get banned. Whether it be same day, a few days or in a month. It will happen

It's ok to be connected to wifi. Going online would be like starting up an NSO app or a game that requires internet connection to Nintendo's servers.

sysCFW is about the type of firmware running on the Switch (custom vs. official).
sysMMC and sysNAND both refer to operating from the console's internal storage, but sysMMC is used more specifically in the context of accessing or modifying the internal memory, while sysNAND refers broadly to the internal storage where the system's firmware and data reside.

A mod chip is like a special key that unlocks extra features on your video game console, allowing it to run different programs and games that it normally couldn't. Think of it as adding a custom upgrade to your console, but keep in mind it can void the warranty and Nintendo usually doesn't like it when people use it for piracy.

@@kaalyes10 well there's no need to use emu if you have a legit copy of your game like I mentioned. On your sys you can have as many islands as you want and load them up anytime using JKSV
Just want to ask two questions to get opinions from someone more experienced (either the uploader or any commenters with experience);
1. I want to use mods in Pokemon Sword and Shield that don't directly affect gameplay (just a costume mod). Would I need to play offline whilst using this mod?
2. I've dumped my copy of Pokemon Scarlet and its save file to my PC in order to play on Ryujinx for better performance. I don't intend on using any mods that will alter the game beyond that like changing spawns or items, etc. Purely for a smoother framerate and better graphics. Would it be safe to move my save file back onto my Switch in order to play online with friends, and then move back to PC when I'm playing solo?
I understand that when it comes to Nintendo and modding, nothing is ever really certain. But I'd like to hear about the experiences from people who may have attempted to do these things.

after research one channel tells you the type of pictures on the boxes of unpatched uses i can't remember but i might of asked the seller on ebay to give me a picture of the s/n but the box i definitely remember looking at when buying an unpatched switched
Not sure what this whole rant was as it's all over the place. Yes In order to make SURE you have a V1 is to ask for the serial # from the seller before purchasing it. There's no reason for them to not give it to you. V1 switches are not sold in stores
