- The Nintendo Switch is great and all but in some ways it SUCKS. Don’t get me wrong it’s probably my favorite console of all time and its done so much for me, but man somethings about it are just so dumb. So today I compiled a list of 100 things I’d like to see changed.

I will genuinely never understand why Nintendo hasn't added themes yet, it's a constant source of revenue with hardly any effort and everyone wants it. I also wish the Switch had some system music or at least eShop music, and all these other changes would be great as well. Still a fantastic console, but could use a few tweaks here and there

3DS HD that is backwards compatible with DS, 3DS, New 3DS and Switch cartridges and the device can connect to Any TV without the need of wires

1. You can delete more than one at a time by holding the x button (this only works if you aren't viewing a screenshot in fullscreen.)
2. You can change the button mapping, therefore you can stop people from using the screenshot button.
Also you can turn off the switch by holding down the home button

Some of these are HIS opinion. Also, if he's "trying to get a bigger number" but also the number didn't even go up, then how does that add up. As for remapping, controllers aren't symmetrical, so that wouldn't be equal. Xbox and PC work together ( you can have your Gamepass and download games on both Xbox and PC, with it being the same account ), etc.
@@gabrielmontague9719 Opinions don't mean something is feasible. Take modding, people already do that, look what Nintendo thinks of Slippi. Rebinds, controllers are asymmetrical but still have roughly the same buttons, and that could have separate profiles like in Smash. Gamepass, that's true, but doesn't take into account that those things are built to work together. XBox to PS5 wouldn't work nearly as well, if at all. Also, the Fall Guys example is run on a server and is multiplatform with mostly cosmetic differences. Having that data work across isn't the same as keeping your Resident Evil save intact from console to console.

The color asymmetry is great imo, but I guess they could have a few options beyond the red&blue combo.
If they aren’t going to add themes, they shouldn’t have called them “themes”. They could’ve labeled it “Modes” or “appearances”

Probably someone said it, but the blue light in the home button is only used for games with an alarm feature like ring fit adventure.
People need to notice this, also, I'm pretty sure ring fit adventure might be the only game to use this. Such a wasted opportunity.

There is a way to disable the capture button. Go to the controllers and sensors on settings and change the button mapping. Somewhere there is a disable option. (Though it is annoying having to change the button mapping constantly)
8:09 Nintendo updated the UI for the screenshots so you can delete multiple items
The friend code is probably just a code for being able to change your name for anything you want to. You also have this with online gaming, it sets you apart with identical names
I am pretty sure you can disable the screenshot button by going in to "Settings" > "Controllers and Sensors" > "Change Button Mapping" > Choose the joy-con you want to disable the screenshot button > Choose the screenshot button on the menu > Set it to "Disable"
yes but that’s per controller. not per console. so you have to do it for every controller.

The "doo dads" on the back of the Switch are something you'll find on pretty much every console as they're primarily there to tell you that it's the official product and not a knockoff without you breaking open the console, as for the barcode, it's likely a packing label used when packing them into their packaging and to tell the consoles apart
Barcode is the serial number for the console
And on the Switch OLED they hid all that stuff behind the stand. So I mean they did hide them.
I hope some of the complaints he made were a joke, because some of them are beyond ridiculous
And of course some of the other doodads are required by regulatory bodies. Removing the FCC one would be just about the biggest mistake Nintendo ever made if they were to do it.

hey man, for those who are wondering, a red switch exists, the special mario edition switch. it's literally just a red switch all it adds is a cool little mario themed case for your games with mario's overalls, hat and mustache and gloves in a cool pattern
I agree with number 50 and 51 having folders on the main screen would be amazing and having achievements would be amazing because when I get a game I want to get a set of challenges with it.
23:40, As a left handed person (ambidextrous, but 99% left), there isn't really a problem with how the controller is set up for most buttons, as you only need to press them. The sticks are different due to the precision you might need, but I've never had a problem and you can just switch (no pun intended) them in the button mapping
Same, after a few years of gaming, trying to switch to left handed controllers or using the left handed mouse setting feels very strange.

The flap always closes for me and it's there to prevent dust from loging in so people don't start blowing in there like they did with the NES back in the day lol
same with the 3ds, idk if blowing into it actually helps but the logic checked out. i’ve never felt the need to do that on the switch though

most of the menu issues stem from the fact that nintendo wants to optimise their menu, so optimised that the size is only 200KB, explaining why it feels much smoother and faster and you don't face nearly as much lag vs something like the 3DS

@@Roxlecmc I said a more modern UI, not the 3DS UI. They can easily re-implement features that the 3DS UI had while making it fit the modern minimalist aesthetic. Things like being able to organize games in a grid and more intuitive game logs that we’ve had since the Wii that for some reason were done away with. I can understand trimming out the fat and such, but what they did killed the functionality of the previous console UI
Love the video! Lots of good complaints/annoyances/suggestions, but there are a few that i thought were a bit of a stretch.
1. The battery life is honestly really good for what sort of games you get to play, especially if you have a red box switch or oled switch, and you put it twice as an issue, which, cmon man
2. Putting the charging port on the top causes way more issues than anything, at least on the normal switch consoles. I can see it for the lite, but still, it's the sorta thing that doesn't make any sense if you think about it for more than 5 seconds
3. The joycons with different functionalities sounds cool on paper, but imagine the backlash they'd get if they did. People complain about the regular joycons as it is, let alone a bunch of proprietary ones, even if optional
4. The hd rumble is something that i feel has been utilized in quite a lot of titles so far, and makes using the joycons much more enjoyable over other controllers without that feature imo
5. Pretty much all the ds/3ds apps listed were made with the stylus in mind, meaning they'd either have to add one somehow, or sell one separate, neither of which sound like good ideas to me
6. Bringing up the cdi is the funniest joke you made in this video. Nintendo would love it if we all just forgot those games existed lol
7. The dock for the switch is perfectly fine, works as intended, and if you don't like how it works, there are plenty of third party ones you can get instead
8. Ok, actually, the modding one is the funniest thing in the video. You do remember this is nintendo were talking about, right?
9. The cross platform thing is something that's gonna plague the gaming industry probably forever, as long as there's profit to be had. I get it, but it's not solely a switch issue
10. I can see where you're getting at with the cheaper switch idea, but the switch is already pretty cheap, especially when they go on sale, which is pretty often
11. The LAST thing the switch needs is twitter lol. Even though you can post screenshots to Twitter, let's just not lol, plus Nintendo wouldn't ever let it happen due to the possibility of kids running into questionable content

2. Why?
It makes no sense at all to have a stand for your console that becomes absolutely useless when you want to play while charge
The charger on the bottom is super annoying and there is no reason after all to not include a second charger on the top, like there was on the WiiU
The home button light turns on if you set a notification for fitness games like ringfit adventure, so you don’t forget to work out, but that’s the only purpose I know of

The problem about the Switch eShop is that on Wii U and 3DS the eShop was a real application, a native program so it runs well, while on the switch the eShop is literally a website and the Switch internal browser sucks which makes the eShop on the Switch laggy same for the NSO button, without music and bad and they didn't put a usuable internet browser because on older consoles it was used to mod the console in a super easy way so Nintendo wanted to make the modding on Switch almost impossible and to this they didn't put an internet browser

@@nikoblox1065 Sure they should, why not? It's their hardware, they bought it. In many places it is actually their right to do so. That is, Nintendo can try to make it technically difficult, but they have no legal power to stop users from doing pretty much whatever with their systems short of reverse engineering, and even that is sometimes allowed as well, for instance when it is in order to make things compatible. Depending on where you live of course. The Switch hardware is not being rented or merely licensed out, the buyers do in fact own their switches (even if they don't always own the software on it).

The friend code ensures that no two users have the exact same code where if you searched by name, you could end up having hundreds of users with the exact same name/some variation of that name making it near impossible to find the correct one

For #14, putting the charging port on top would make port mode a bit more awkward as you have the Switch upside down which if you forget its upside down, there’s not a lot of indication and it would be an inconvenience.
Aya Neo did something like this (forget which one, I think it was the Aya Neo Next?). They had one on the bottom to plug into things like a modded switch dock, and one on top to plug in the charger when you're on the go. Why Nintendo doesn't do this, with either two USB-C ports or the USB-C port on top and some other connector (probably pogo pins or something), baffles the hell out of me.
then theres the steam deck, which has a little cable coming out of the back, so you can just put your deck on the dock and plug it in yourself

The blue light thing actually is used for the alarm system in Ring Fit Adventure (and any other game that uses it) but I think Ring Fit is the only one that uses it. Definite missed opportunity

You can disable the screenshot button if you change the mappings of the controller in use. Just make it so the screenshot button doesn't do anything. And you can have multiple presets so you can turn on that preset when the child is using that controller, and when you're using that controller you can switch to the preset that has every button
This is found under settings > controllers and sensors > change button mapping
I’m a lefty, and I have never had a problem with the right side of my control being used more. I’ve never seen a game controller any other way, so a left handed controller would actually be really awkward for even me to use.

You can now. You just have to get one normal set of joy cons, then get the inverted set (if that's what you been call them), then just put the normal blue right and the inverted blue left and vice versa.
I agree they need more themes and stuff make it more interesting and exciting!

I agree with #65. They should increase the limit ot at least provide us a better way to export and import Mii's. Yeah, the Switch doesn't have a camera but like in Miitomo, you can load a image and then mark the QR code in the picture to load the Mii from, no camera required! Also, I think the Mii Maker should be on the HOME menu instead of Nintendo Switch Online. They can hide this on the connection settings.
i fully agree on download play and themes. I wish you can use the pictures that u took and make it your theme
My favorite nintendo console/handheld is the 3DS because it has so much life and personality, I love the little 3DS intro when you click on a 3DS, the little Light that pops up in the middle right of the 3DS that tells you if there is news or a system update (It's like the 3DS is saying "Hey, there is new news" or "hey there is a new system update"), the menu theme, the custom menu background and it's respecting theme, the nintendo eshop theme, the 3D option on the side of the 3DS, streetpass, and the Little 3D Menu animations for each respective game on the 3DS (it even has little 3D menu animations for DS and Virtual console games), it gives the 3DS so much personality, and the Nintendo Switch Lacks so much personality, almost no personality and life to the switch, the Nintendo switch would be my favorite console if it had as much life and personality as the 3DS, but since it doesn't, my favorite console is the 3DS

are you young? there are consoles preceding the 3DS with a lot more personality. i think even the Wii beats it in a lot of ways. had charming pre-installed apps and iconic music and interface

To address your complaint about not being able to turn off the switch from the controller: use the home button and then navigate to the virtual power button. It isn't that much slower than having a dedicated button.
I think you can also hold down the home button

@@crescentceleste holding the home button down gives you the quick access menu, but yes it only offers airplane mode and sleep mode. The only way to get the option to fully shut down the switch is to hold down the power button on the switch itself.

Things that I would like coming from the video and some comments
- Themes! Yes please just give me some sort of background besides black and white
- System Music: Startup sounds, menu music, eshop music, yes please!
- Spotify and discord. I want to be able to have things in the background when I play
- A controller studio. Making custom colors on joycons online or pro controllers similar to the xbox design lab
- Mii app. I would love to have the mii studio or whatever you want to call it. Just making and looking at miis.
- Web Browser. I want to be able to scroll through reddit or twitter on the big screen.
- Switch online. I don’t mind it personally but I feel like the premium should be the only option and it should be the price of the cheaper one.
- Virtual Console. Being locked down to switch online to having it and having more than just those specific consoles
- BRING BACK 3D ALL STARS
- Controller headphone jacks
- Parties. (like on playstation… I don’t know what the xbox equivalent is)
- Home button light.
- More triple AAA games. We need to get nintendo to stop being afraid of M rated games.
- Friend codes. I just want to be able to add a handle
- Switch pro. We need to have just better internals.
- Update franchises. Plz mario odyssey 2.
- Inbuilt voice chat
- There’s more but my adhd isn’t allowing me to watch more than half of the video

I like the red/blue asymmetry because I have a BOTW themed shell for my switch and you can see the red in the button gaps near ganon and the blue in the gaps near Zelda. It’s so cute!

for the internet browser, i think this only proves their point more. the fact that there is indeed an internet browser in the switch, developed and completely functional, but it isn’t available to actually use without a loophole. just silly.
If you set your dns to something, can't remember what, you can get a fanmade web browser.

JC drift is what made me use pro cons from now on, they cost less than the joy-cons and they also don’t have that many problems, the only bad thing is that you have to charge it, it only takes like 10 mins though.
6:35 Being honest, I couldn't agree more. My cousin's game while mid game, if you press on the game card cover, the game card will pop out. This is incredibly frustrating cause it makes games such as Nintendo Labo 04: Vr Kit unplayable.
Main things for me are:
1. Message your friends - send game screenshot etc.
2. Netflix, amazon video etc. - if they have CZcams already then why not these
3. Being able to see your full games easier in the menu - I put all mine in a folder so they're not mixed in with demos
If you think about it, would a traditional d-pad on the left joycon be practical, even in games where a single joycon can/must be used?
The D-pad prevents you from pressing certain buttons at the same time like left and right which some games might need
Fun fact: joy con drift is actually fixed by Nintendo if you give it to them! They just don’t want you to know that
They'll most likely give you new joycons

I honestly prefer the joy-con's style d-pad. Not the joy-con's d-pad, but the style of it. Making it separate buttons instead of a full pad just feels better imo.

7:35 I don't know if anyone has said it yet butThe IR Camera is actually used in Ring Fit Adventure. After finishing a run, the game wants you to hold your thumb over it, so it can measure your heartrate.
The light on the home button shows when you set alarms in ring fit adventure and the IR camera is used when you use heart rate I still wish it was used more though.
You don't have to delete the screenshots one by one, you can delete them in batches
Actually peer to peer servers can be a great thing, there are a lot of coop/multiplayer games where servers are don't exist anymore, but people still can play it through peer to peer multiplayer, in the switch's case, even after nintendo abandoned the console, you can still play certain titles with your friends

You can actually disable the screenshot button, it’s in button mapping in the settings
4:32 You aren't forced to buy the premium service to get the DLC. It's a bonus for having bought the service. If you want just the DLC for Splatoon, but don't want the online then you can spend $20 on just the DLC, or you could spend $50 get online, DlC for Splatoon, and DLC other games that make use of online features (in other words games that the online service is needed to fully enjoy) without needing to individually buy the DLC for about $20 each. So, seeing as you get 3 DLC packs, you save $40 on not buying dlc, plus you get all 4 NSO Emulators and access to online gameplay
Number 86 gave me flashbacks because i remember i used the Wii U as my tv remote instead of the actual remote due to convenience. I kinda miss it but i don't use cable anymore, fun times...

I do wish there was more but I find the little screen space showing if it's charging very useful for someone like me who can get sidetracked and forget things like that very easily

Good news: there actually is a way to disable the screenshot button in the settings. Under controllers and sensors you can change the button mapping for a controller for a bit to disable the screenshot button
But you can't do that with third party controllers
You can remap the screenshot button to "Disable" in joy con settings.
And also, you can use a web browser on the switch by going into your wifi settings and setting the DNS to manual, and setting the primary DNS to 045.055.142.122 then connect and login.

you actually can disable the screenshot button but you have to do it for each controller, its under controller configuration in settings
1) You said you have a day 1 Switch, so that explains the battery issue. The red box Switch and OLED model have noticeably better battery life.
2) You CAN disable the capture button: Home Menu > System Settings > Controller and Sensors > Change Button Mapping > Joy-Con L/whatever controller > Change > Capture Button > Disable > Done
3) The cartridge flap is to keep dust from getting in. Affected DS and 3DS systems a lot except for the New 2DS, which does have the flap.
4) You can get a Switch from Nintendo by going the refurbished route on their website. I believe they sell them at $260.
5) The “passcode” used in portable mode is to keep the Switch from accidentally being fully unlocked by accident when stored somewhere like a bag, in case the power of home button are somehow accidentally pressed (has happened to me).
6) Not as simple as New 3DS, but you can buy custom backplates online. You just have to unscrew yours and screw the new one back in.
7) I also want StreetPass back! 😭

Fun fact: the black strip on the bottom of the right joycon can be used to remotely turn on the switch by pointing it at the switch and pressing the home button twice
The blue light actually is used. If you were to set an alarm on ring fit adventure then that light would flash and the controllers will vibrate. This is the only way I know of without mods.

The IR camera had better uses than what you mentioned, like in Ring Fit Adventure where it was used to measure heart rate, and Brain Training/Age where it was used for the "rock, paper, scissors" minigame.

For one thing, I disliked the blue/red colour combination that seemed to have sold the most, as it's the variant I'd later see in marketing images and some game cover art, but when I was buying my own Switch, I went out of my way to find a grey one on my local classifieds as most of the ones being sold were blue/red, and managed to get one.
Another feature they should add to the store is small indie games. Basically games made by either a small team or just one person.

The store has tons of indie games. Just browse and you’ll see hundreds of cheep games made by like one person.
for the screenshot button thing, i have another thing to add. I always record a ton of videos of funny or annoying or weird things that happen while playing splatoon. but going in and cutting those short to be only the last few seconds has gotten so tedious and not fun that ive just given up for the most part and now i have hundreds of random 30 sec recordings laying around that i will NEVER touch.. I wish you could just change the default recording time to something shorter or longer or have a "pro" mode where it records more the longer you hold and it shows it in the top left corner or something. Thatd be really helpful.
oh yeah and i wanted to add to this itd be good if you could choose to have all of the videos length saved like on i phones where you can go back and make the video longer again even though its shorter. This should be optional of course if youre low on space

You can disable the screenshot button by going to the Controllers and Sensors tab in the settings, go to Change Button Mapping, and then on your switch controller you click the left one, and then go to the screenshot button, and set it to disable.
Also, you don't have to delete all the images one by one! You can delete them en masse!
