Same. There seems to be a ton of fish abuse on Tiktok, and it's just sad. Like, how hard is it to take care of a fish tank? I'm a first time fish tank owner, and I own four crystal clear, fully cycled tanks, with happy, healthy fish. First time. So I don't see why people keep putting their fish in bowls, and doing horrible things. With proper care, fish tanks keep themselves clean for the most part, and it costs less to get a bigger tank than to go out and buy a fishbowl in some places

    • @axo4191

@@kristinayagmin5893 I know right! And I think it's sick how videos of people killing fish get more positive attention then those who actually care. I now have 3 Juvenile Axolotls (40 Gallon), 10 WCMM, (15 Gallon, have raised about 6 of them from eggs :D) 2 Male Bettas (one in a 5 Gallon and the other in a 12 Gallon) and one mystery snail (with the Betta in the 12 Gallon) and all my babies are happy and healthy in clean, planted tanks.
I completely agree! I don't know how people can even begin to think that a bowl is a suitable home for any living creature. Fish do 'feel', and they don't get nearly as much love and protection than other 'pets' It makes me want to scream when I hear someone say "Oh yeah, big spaces freak out bettas", or "Goldfish tank size is overrated" or see videos of people making "diy" fish tanks and putting a turtle in a plastic bottle. It's disgusting.

My 75-gallon aquarium changed so much ever since I started watching your channel. It was very barren with a moderate stock of fish. Rarely did water changes. Now, it’s a high stocked planted tank and now I’m putting a lot of time and effort into maintaining it. It looks so much better, too. I’m planning on setting up a second tank.
My grandma always wanted a betta fish, however, she wanted to put it in a bowl (it was about 0.25 gallons, and I couldn’t accept that. I saved up my own money and bought a Fluval Spec V. It isn’t here yet, but I plan on uploading it once I set it up, as well with the change in the 75-gallon aquarium. Thank you very much Chris, and keep up the good work.

Everytime I see betta abuse it makes me just sad, and happy I rescued my female plakat halfmoon betta, Athena. I have a friend whose mom had a beautiful halfmoon betta, but sadly put him in an Aqueon one gallon kit. By the end of his life, the poor halfmoon looked more like a crown tail, with swim bladder and inflamed gills. She later bought a female crowntail who also later died due to an ich infection that went on for a week without treatment. Then, after that, she bought an elephant ear male and a veil tail female. She put the two in a 30 gallon tank with other fish that aren't even compatible with each other. The male ended up killing the female betta and several other fish, and now he's awaiting the same fate as the very first betta. They moved him to that horrid one gallon, and his gills are already inflamed. Don't know why people can't just get bigger tanks. A 2.5 only costs $8 more in the US than the 1 gallon cost her, and the 2.5 would at least be a little better. Poor thing only has like 0.2 gallons of room to actually swim in because of the decorations and the filter

Guys! Another goldfish was spared a smol tank today. I was in the lfs getting plants and making a special order when a couple came in to get a goldfish for their 5 gallon 😬 The manager convinced them out of a goldie and they went for a betta. Still praying for the betta but it has a better chance than a goldfish in there. The manager’s tactic that worked was telling them that goldfish produce a lot of waste than other fish their size (1 inch comet) and that they’d have to clean every day to keep up with it 😝

I turned a 5 gallon tub into a Betta tank because I wasn't allowed to get a tank for my poor Betta in a bowl. I made a diy filter with an air pump, a filter pad and a water bottle. That same day I got a heater with 3 rescue fish from my dad so I put them in my 36 gallon. Once they settled in I put my Betta in there because there was lots of space and it was heated. He is very happy today and will be getting live plants soon!

Best discus tank I ever saw was at a local chain store...can't remember the name...but they hired some professional aquascaper to design all the display tanks when it first opened, and the main display tank was about 6'x8'x8', had lilypads growing from the bottom of the tank to the top, and it was filled with thousands of neon tetra and a bunch of the nicest discus I have ever seen. The tank was only setup for a few months or so and the business went wasn't doing well and couldn't afford upkeep to the took it all down. I don't even know how many gallons of water and hundreds of hours of aquascaping all gone...and it just turned into a typical pet store for awhile before they went completely out of business. That tank was a beauty though.

That "funky-looking" anubias you pointed out is Anubias barteri 'coffefolia' & yes, it's naturally-occuring variant of A. barteri from Cameroon. It's got unique leaf texture, almost leathery; rendering an artificial-looking impression due to it's seemingly carved look.

1:21 I think this is a pretty good tank, the way to make it better would be to add some kind of lid to cover as much as possible of the surface to make any breathing through the labyrinth organ with warm and moist air.
I have used similar tanks, but bigger, as quarantine tanks at times when all my regular tanks are occupied.
I have one that is just over 40 liter, a bit over 10 gallons and one about twice as big.
It works for the weeks the fish is in quarantine, and for a betta, it's big enogh to be a forever home.
They are just butt ugly and a bit blurry for vision, so they are nothing you want to really view, but as a quarantine tank or raising fry, they are all good, and easy to store away when not needed.

Tupperware tank is def better than small ass tanks. I use that filter on all my 20 gallon tanks. That cat video pissed me off but they kind of looked fake maybe? Idk. I've trained my cats to appreciate the fish as friends. I have one cat that is fish Lassie. He has saved two of my fish by coming to get me acting crazy when I had jumpers. He led me to the fish and they were 100% fine afterwards. The biggest problem I have with the cats is them trying to eat the fish food out of the jar.
