You betta!
Betta? I just metta?
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
😂😂😭😭
When I was a little kid, we had a beta named rainbow. Not sure how my mom pulled this off… But he lived in a tiny little bowl with some rocks on the bottom. No filter, no heater, just sitting on the counter. She fed him frozen shrimp on a pipe cleaner every day, which was really fun to watch him attack the pipe cleaner! That little guy lived for an astounding seven years! She was very good at changing the water every couple days, which is probably why he lived so long along with proper feeding.
Frozen shrimp copy that. My new fish hasn't been eaten anything i give him so far he spits it out.
Seven years!? That’s insane
when in middle school I had a betta I loved a lot but I kept him in a small bowl on my desk. It was nice, for me, to watch him as I did homework. It was very relaxing, but now that I'm older and learning so much more about their care I feel so bad how I use to keep them. Im planning to get another one soon but this time in a large at least 5 to 10 gallon tank in the living room so it can thrive. Just wish I knew that for my lil betta back when I was younger.
It's ok. Redemption is always possible, even for this terrible crime you have committed
We were all young, once 😉 Do it again in a bigger tank with heater and filter and real plants and two female Bettas, you won't regret it!
You are not alone!!! We all learn and grow so don’t be hard on yourself:-)
We all make mistakes!! Its ok!! but i definitely think it would be good for you to get another one!! Redemption can help us heal!
He's in hell waitin to fight you
another tip I know from experience is maybe consider bettas with shorter fins. Remember that in the wild they don't really have long fins like these ones that have been bred. It will take more effort to swim and if you plan to keep one long term consider that as they grow older they will slow down.
You can give them exercise with a mirror for an hour. They love to flare at the other fish & will get excited when they see you bringing the mirror over.
It's so cute.
Less disease too
@@MeanOldLadydoes that affect them?
I added the hammock and my betta loves it! I love looking at him resting on it hammock as well.
Nice tips! Since I live in the Philippines, never needed heaters since I started the hobby. Lucky to have tropical weather here. I always keep a bottle of concentrated tannin extract. Don't know, but it really is beneficial to their vitality.
If you *are* planning to add some fish to your bettas tank, make sure you have at least 15-20 gallons, and there is lots of plants/hiding places. Bettas need their own territory, and sometimes need their own space. Other than that, the last thing to consider is personality. Some bettas will bite, some will not care etc.
How about four a female fish
@@Emily20133 same with female bettas. Just like males, they need some extra space. If you want to add 6 small fish, go with a 15 gallon, if you want 12-15 small fish or 5-8 medium fish go with a 20 gallon
I have a beautiful blue Betta with neon tetras. I love watching them!
@@mariezimri1290 I currently have a blue betta and i will be getting around 18 neon tetras in a week or so....is it ok if I mix them both considering 18 tetras to 1 betta?
From what I’ve learned recently, you can put one beta with 4-6 tetras but no more of each in a 10 gallon tank. Read online or call Petco to affirm and # of each if using a bigger tank.
Hey man I just wanted to say thank you for saying the temps in *F for us Americans. When you talk about fish tanks, talking in gallons/F* as well I am sure is an added stresser but I can assure you we appreciate it!
Can you add both please Gallons and ltrs as well as F and Cesis with heater .thank you so much .. I love watching your videos .
I wish Americans would do the same with Celsius & litres. I'm forever converting stuff, esp after watching American fishkeeping vids 😂
Unless you are Australian
Amazing video, straight to the point and practical advice! Great work.
Thank you for this, very much appreciated.
Helpful! Thanks, Nick!
Thanks for the tips!
Thank's for the tips. Good info!!
Thanks for always sharing your content bro. Great tips, great delivery and onpoint as always 👍
Thank you! I know this video is old but I'm adopting a betta soon and am happy to learn all these tips. I want Fishington to be happy.
My Betta Perseus is doing great. He lives in a 190 liter tank, with a lazy gold nugget, and a few Sewellias. He is really curious and daring though, my tank consists of one main hardscape structure I built out of lava rock and wood, with many caves, and he keeps squeezing himself into tight spaces. Kinda worries me sometimes, he’s just a lunatic
in my experience, big aquarium is a must, it helps them to grow their fins and also if a tank is big, it doesn't require you to clean it everyday unlike in a small cup the water gets polluted in a short period of time
Very interesting sharing about this fish. Thank you and have a nice day 👍🌺
Lovely vid!
Awesome video!
I have a 6.5 gallon tank for my Betta that is a Halfmoon Dumbo Betta and he is enjoying his oasis that I made him! He has silk plants and 3 live plants in there and I couldn't be happier for him!
Thanks for the tips ❤
Great video thanks 😊
Wayyy Cool setup bud!!! I used to breed bettas around 2008 and i got my sister into it! I had to move so put everything in storage.I'm getting back into it now.I bought a black orchid male and a double fin bluegreen female! I would like it if the stores had more variety on colors,Ive been wanting a yellow ever since ive gotten into it but the stores never have yellow bettas Grrr! :) Keep up the good work!!!
Have mine in a 12 gallon with a few armanos for cleaning and a sponge filter hes loving it.
Good tips thanks
DAMN!!!! Go KFS, pumping out the betta vids 🥰😍
thanks for the information 👍
Great advice, so true about overfeeding 😢
Hell yeah man great video
Thx Some really nice tips, gonna start my first Betta tank with the best environment now!
Awesome video
Great looking betta! Nice video
Thank you so much
Thank you for this, it’s been really helpful. Just about to set up a 10 gallon for my first Betta 😊
I think you could get two females
@@ShrimpedoI’ve had success with two female bettas. They’re good when there’s enough space, but some bettas have different personalities, so it really can depend
I legit just acquired (saved) my aunt's beta. Thank you for this knowledge. I have some adjustments to do so he's happy
Thank u very helpful
This helps me so much I am getting one Tom and I had no idea how to take care of one😂😍
Crazy how everyone says bettas are bad to keep with other fish. Just set up my 55 gallon and he's happy with his tetra, danio, Cory, and pleco mates. He likes to chill in his rock by himself and observe everybody
Nice video!
Helpful video! Would you recommend adding the nano fish first and letting them settle in before adding a betta? I have a 10 gallon tank that I’m just enjoying watching all my live plants grow but would eventually like to add fish.
thx for info :)
Yaaaaas!
🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
Thanks!
💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻
Thanks for the tips! Gladly I could check them all off except tank mates. Maybe I should look into some nano fish :)
expert advice from an expert
I didn't know indian almond leaves costs a dollar there, thank God we have an indian almond tree just outside the house here in the Philippines
The lid has a duel purpose. If you live in a place thats is colder if you leave the lids off they can get a cold and that can kill them but thats for all labyrinth fish
Thank You😍👍I'm doing almost all things well,But def. Guilty of Overfeeding❣Betta's going on a Diet now😁
I have the same problem over feeding i lost 2 fish already because of over feeding😣
v nice fish thanks
Gorgeous fish! You do such an amazing job! Love your videos 💙🐠
Beautiful betas in this video wow
First lol! I love bettas! Keep it up!
Good video, deffinately agree with overfeeding betas, always looking at you like you havent had them even though you fed them 2 minutes ago 😂
I’m getting a betta in a week! This came at a great time!
How is it doing? What type?
I learnt about the betta hammock quite along time ago, we heard about the fake leaf hammock for bettas and I wanted to buy it. But it was too expensive and my dad thought we could just make a homemade one. So we got a cloth? And hanged it in the water, it works, but it gets really dirtttyy, and it doesn’t fit the theme of the tank. When I get some more pocket money, I will certainly get something to work as a hammock
Thanks for the info. My females always get very big stomachs and eventually die. It's not bloat, so possibly I am feeding to much, which I do. Great info thanks
Feed them less. They say you gotta stay hungry.
Hi Joanne,
Do you feed your females live food? Or just pellets/flake? I find if I feed my females live food regularly (which conditions them for spawning), they get really bloated with eggs. If she eventually drops them herself, all good....but sometimes they don't drop them, get bloated and die. So now I don't give my females live food at all unless I want her to breed. Having said that though, I still get the odd one that gets eggy even just on good quality pellets and flakes. I am still learning though so don't take my comment as gospel....it's just something I've observed about some of my females :)
Thank you for the tips! Great video, I got 6 out of 7 right!
Could you make a video on how you maintain those breeder cups the bettas are in? Like water changes etc? I have a friend that's looking into breeding bettas and would love to learn what she can
Hey man i know this is late and old but i work at a fish store and a lot of the time the best thing to do is to just have a backup container, a bit of aquarium salt and a drop of methythene blue. You pour the betta into that one and then fill the one he was previously in with new water. Then you just net him back over. I hope that answers some questions for ya!
i knew everything in this video but watched just bc i enjoy your vids! keep making great videos man and good luck on your breeding projects
Nice bettas!
Thank you so much, I am-a seasoned beginner as to caring for Betta fish! This is my second Betta and I just bought a 5 gallon tank, my question is are live plants a good idea mixed with artificial plants for colour a healthy idea? I have put almond bark in my tank as well but it makes the aquarium too dark and I can’t find the fish however it really is healthier for them! Love your channel Thanks again for your valuable advice!🙏🙏🙏🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦
You betta work 💃🏼
I have a rather heavily planted tank with lots of 'hammocks' available to my new Betta. I thought he was ill when I seen him basically 'sitting' on a lot of plants. Thank god I now know he was just chilling. He's in with Neon, Cardinal and Rummynose tetras who dont bother him. My guess is, if I got the almond leaves, it wouldn't bother them either (since they're basically from the Amazon basin and probably naturally have lots of leaves in their rivers as a result).
Have some Emba Tetras with my boy and he loves them.
Thank you for giving correct info! I’ve never had success with any tetra or schooling fish, they nipped my bettas fins and he got dinner. I’d say only a bottom feeder like Otto’s or corycats might work with a female betta, a male might attack them.
I consider getting a coller as well a bit bc my house can heat up to 30/35°C in the summer.
I just got my girst ever fish. He really eats anything from me so its really hard not to feed him but that's on top of my list to learn now.
I put anubias in my tank and my betta was very pleased. He loves hanging out there a lot.
Super
My plants died at those higher temperatures. Which plants do you recommend for 80°F ?
What filter do you recommend for bettas?
Bettas are amazing
Does betta will be influence by the vibration of the filter pump?
some of your bettas had like a lots of white rings into their faces for instance at 4:13 would u tell me what those are? my betta has the same thing and im was never able to tell if it was harmless or not
Always super high quality videos from this channel
I have a halfmoon male betta, hes almost 2 years old. And then i have a veiltail female betta in a separate tank, she is a year old. I love them both so much :)
One way to reduce dropsy in betta or any other fishes, is to soak your live tubifex worm or blood worm in UENO japanese yellow powder for 15 mins before feeding the betta.
I can't find anything online that says Eucalyptus leaves are safe for aquarium use, what's your experience with using it?
Good tips mate except the celestial pearl recommendation. They like 22° and high light so not suitable at all really. Much better to go with cardinals or rumy nose.
I have my betta in community tank with
Swordtails, platy, widow Tetra and yes Angelfish they all are peaceful 🙂 healthy
We got two male bettas, two molly, one moonfish, couple guppies and neon tetras and its one happy family. No nipping, jumping, territories nothing but love ❤
Can u give step by step betta 5 gallon setup please 😘😘😘
I want to do a sorority soon! Any advice? And do you ship betta fish?
Hi!! When are your bettas gonna be up on your site? I checked and didn’t see any :(
What do you need when you change the water could you just use sink water and not have to use bacteria drops and stress zyme?
This video was very helpful. I’ve a question, being a beginner and having a betta in a small tank. How often should I change the water?
Y❤❤❤❤
I just got my first Betta and plan to add 5 small neons and 1 snail in a 5 Gallon aquarium. Had to remove a filter that I had purchased for the 5 gallon tank. The suction force was too strong and the fish would get stuck on the wall of the filter. Planning to use a sponge set up...
Keeping fish simple do you need to use aquarium salt on bettas when they have film on their body and film in the water question mark because sadly am I about to pass the way yesterday all I did yesterday was change his water as I usually do and I made sure the water was warm Pine Place in Hammond to the sink and I want to rinse out the tank and I looked in the sink and he was on his side gasping for air and he would not react with me he would not reactivate
Please make a video on growth of your altum angels. Its been 1 year now i guess. Thanks
6:56 I LOVE THAT WHITE FISH SO MUCH
I have my Beta with two Cory Catfish. And he loves to hang out and swim with them.
i’m not sure how big your tank is but you should get a few more maybe 4/5 because they need a minimum of 5 to be happy
@@ollielloydjones5774 I only have a six gallon tank. So can’t get two many. Right now I have one Beta, two catfish and two Mystery snails. Should I get one more catfish?
@@andreaduncan1886 one or two more of the same type would be best. You could get 3/4 more but you would need to keep up on your water changes
So my last Betta fish died a few months back and I really want to get another, only problem is I have since went from well water that took 0 prep too just the City tap which I know requires Water Conditioner. My niece is in town for only 1 more day and she asked if she could pick my new Betta but, my question is, could I refill my old 5Gallon tank with the filtered water from my fridge and let it sit over night then add the water conditioner the next day when I add the new Betta? Or would I still have to wait a few days even with the filtered water? Is it Ok to even add the water conditioner with the fish is the Tank? ...As you can see I need some help...
I have them in big bowls, change the water every 2 days sometimes I’ve waited for the 3rd day, and I always ad a few drops of the solution the provider recommended and always have a strainer on top of the bowl, I they are big bowls, my fish are happy I have 3 of them and Put their bowls together 😅
hello. should I leave my betta with a drop of methalyn blue for his treatment?? and then change it after 3days?
My male Halfmoon has a 5 gallon tank! He has a filter, a castle, and some jellyfish that he likes to hide in! His name is Rashee!
mine in with guppies n tetras, hate seeing betas in those tiny cups in the stores :(
dont know if i have those leaves in my place so i could add a stick of wood tk relase tannins in water ?
Over the last 3 years I've been in contact with breeders from Asia like Thailand and Singapore. I have learned that they can be on anything but it will required more care the smaller the tank is. I have one on Fluval 5 gals, one on 2.5 gals and one in a big base. I have found that my female on the base is happier and healthier than 2.5 gals with a lot of natural elements and definitely the Fluval 5 gals sucks, bad water movement and filtration.
Can I put a betta in a 4ft with Corydoras and a small school of cardinal tetras?
I know for keeping other fish with your betta they need a good temperament, but how do you check your betta's temperament?
Would a betta do okay in a 3.5 gal for a month or so while a 10 gal cycles for him?
Bettas have the highest intelligence of any fish ❤
