Wow Grant and Shelby’s setup remind me of this low key breeding setup I saw in Japan a couple years ago. Let me tell you little story…. I knew this guy known as “Garlic-Noji” he was friends with Coryoji. He was a cousin of Kinoji, who studied at Django Kiyoji. He moved to a place called Crustiji, where he met Mrs Kanishki. There they had a kid name Gobi, who grew up to become a Blazing Pillpoji

I used to keep tropical fish back in the 90s and it was fairly cheap hobby. I used to pay on average £2.50 per fish, but now it's £6 and upwards per fish. Can no longer afford it. Also I am finding the fish don't live as long.

I have put almond bark in my tank as well but it makes the aquarium too dark and I can’t find the fish however it really is healthier for them! Pest? They’re great. Especially if you understand how to maintain a healthy aquarium.

Duckweed is great for sucking up those extra nitrates that causes algae blooms to appear. I also find my Endler fish are constantly grazing on the stuff and always look well fed with full stomachs, even the fry. I have a red Sea aquarium with a sump and have just superglued 1 half inch course sponge over the overflow grills (to not restrict the water flow going through the grills too much) and it stops any duckweed from getting into the sump where the main filtration takes place. People say it's a pain to deal with - but you only need scoop some out every week to maintain how much is in the tank and takes only a few minutes scooping some out with your hand. If you use duckweed though, only have plants that can live in low light conditions such as Java Fern on bogwood, avoid any plants living below that require high light levels. I always remove some duckweed so there's a small surface part not covered with it, so some light does get through the surface of the water and provides an area where the fish can still go not covered by duckweed and for feeding.

went to the spot at 15:00 this weekend and it looked a lot different. A lot less water, thick with plants and it was chockablock full of south american cichlids- Gymnogeophagus balzanii. Did see one purple spotted gudgeon.... Rope swing is still there, but you wouldnt want to try it
